• Doesn't boot after installing fglrx for ati 5650

  Hi, I'm a complete noob here, I recently bought an HP 3161 with an ATI 5650 hd card, when I installed 10.04 LTS everything was working fine until I was prompted to activate proprietary driver fglrx, after I did this I couldn't reboot (not even in recovery mode) until I reinstalled 10.04, what can I do? I would appreciate any help since I haven't been able to find anyone with the same problem, thanks.

• Sketchy textboxes over text

• Windows 7 Line In Delay Issue [closed]

  Not sure if this question should be posted on a different stack exchange site, so if you find that it should not be posted here, please move it. Either way, if you know the solution, please advise. I'm running Windows 7 Pro 32-bit on my Dell Latitude 2100 netbook and I'm having an issue with the line in device/driver/functionality. The device & driver are stock: Driver Date: 7/13/2009 Driver Version: 6.1.7600.16385 I'm almost sure that the manufacturer of the sound card is RealTek. The problem is that there is a delay (when monitoring input) between the source and the speakers. My setup is bass guitar running through a 12' long instrument cable (1/4") with a 1/4" female to 1/8" male adapter into the line in port on the computer. Then the 15' long headphones/line out cable goes into a standard set of powered speakers. How do I get rid of this delay? Thanks for any help.

  I am using JDBC to connect to my microsoft access database. I get the following exception when I try to connect to the database: java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application I am using 64bit windows7, and I am using eclipse which is also a 64bit version My database is a microsoft access database and it seems that the driver is a 32bit driver which is causing the problem. I read somewhere that microsoft has not released a 64bit driver for microsoft access! Any help on how to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.

• Oracle 9i Session Disconnections

  I am in a development environment, and our test Oracle 9i server has been misbehaving for a few days now. What happens is that we have our JDBC connections disconnecting after a few successful connections. We got this box set up by our IT department and handed over to. It is 'our problem', so options like 'ask you DBA' isn't going to help me. :( Our server is set up with 3 plain databases (one is the main dev db, the other is the 'experimental' dev db). We use the Oracle 10 ojdbc14.jar thin JDBC driver (because of some bug in the version 9 of the driver). We're using Hibernate to talk to the DB. The only thing that I can see that changed is that we now have more users connecting to the server. Instead of one developer, we now have 3. With the Hibernate connection pools, I'm thinking that maybe we're hitting some limit? Anyone has any idea what's going on? • Kernel NTFS driver vs NTFS-3G

  A more comprehensive phrased question since I lost access to the other one. I would ask that the other one be deleted, not this one, as it should not have been migrated in the first place. There are currently two NTFS drivers available for Linux. The NTFS driver included in the kernel, and the userspace NTFS-3G driver that makes use of FUSE. By all accounts, NTFS-3G works perfectly. My question then, is if the NTFS filesystem has been successfully reverse engineered, why have the kernel NTFS team not implemented the changes in their driver? At the moment it is still marked as experimental, and there is a good chance it will destroy your data. Note: This has absolutely nothing to do with distributions...

  Is there any (possibly free or open-source) virtual WDM audio driver for Windows, with additional processing plugins, which would add one more layer between windows applications and actual sound card's WDM audio driver, allowing to: Add software DSPs to general audio output. I would like to be able to use custom effects, like compressor, or stereophonic-to-binaural converter for listening online's streaming media on headphones, etc. Connect its output to some custom buffer instead of the sound card. For example, to be able to record audio, or to send audio via wireless connection to some other wireless source? Virtual audio driver was just my idea how to solve these issues - if you know other way, please share your knowledge. I need this for Windows 7 and/or Windows XP.

  Greetings, I am currently plagued with BSODS on startup (both normal and safe mode) for my XP Pro. After much troubleshooting I have determined it is a driver problem. However, because I cannot even boot I do not know how to fix it. I am looking for some specific driver diagnostic and repair software that I can use from another computer to access and fix the driver problem on the problematic XP drive.   Vista crashed on my DELL XPS 1730 laptop. Again. I deleted the RAID array, created a new one and started to install Window 7 from DVD. During the initial phase of installation the setup pop ups this: Load Driver: A required CD/DVD device driver is missing... I can then insert other media to load the drivers, but it can't find any. I checked the DELL site for drivers but I can only find firmware for the drive. Which driver do I need, and where can I download it?

• Windows printing: printer works locally, but over network it can't find driver

  A friend has a Epson Stylus RX500 printer. She wants to share it between her WinXP desktop and her Win7 laptop. The printer is connected direct to her WinXP desktop, and she can print fine from there. But the Win7 laptop can't print -- it can see the shared printer on the network, but it can't find a driver for it. (And looking on the web, I don't see any Win7 drivers for it.) However, if I connect the printer directly to the Win7 laptop, it works, it can print. This suggests that there is a driver for it, but for some reason, it can't find a driver when connecting to the printer over the network. My question is: if a printer works when connected directly to the machine, should it still work over the local network?

  How do I handle driver problems associated with creating a new WIM file using a previously created image as a base? I am using a custom MDT image which installs Windows 7, Office 2010, etc which was created from a previously deployed base image of Windows 7 + SP 1 + updates. When the driver injection is enabled I receive a group of messages (collected from different logs, screens, etc). If I turn the preinstall driver injection off things work as expected.   a friend of mine asked me to re-install his Asus F5Z notebook with Windows XP. I installed succcessfully all drivers from assus driver download site. Everything is working fine but ethernet driver. The installation of Lan Driver for WIN XP finishes with strange message "Please shutdown & plug Realtech PCI-e card to complete the installation. Not sure if it matters but OnChip SATA is in 'Native IDE' mode . The original one with Vista was 'IDE - AHCI mode'. Any idea how I can make the LAN adapter to work under Windows XP?

• Rollback driver in Windows via command line

  I have a remote system in which I've updated the Nvidia graphics driver, but now RDPDD.dll, which I'm guessing stands for RDP Display Driver, will not load (found this out via Event Viewer). I can use Sysinternal's Psexec to execute commands though. I'm sure something has gone very wrong and the user of this system (a CAD engineer) won't be able to use his system normally. I've tried two remote reboots and that has not resolved the issue. So I would like to use the "Roll Back" option for the Nvidia driver in the device manager. Is there a command-line way of doing this?

  I am using few USB hardwares like camera and scanners with my software application. I plugged my hardware in USB A installed the drivers and the device was working properly. Now I tried to connect the same hardware in USB B (ie, some other USB port), and again it is asking for the driver installation. I need to know the reason behind this.   I have a macbook running Windows on it (with bootcamp). I have external mouse to use, but touchpad remains enabled at the same time. So when I use keyboard, I always click on it and move mouse cursor. The first thing I did is I just disabled driver in devmgmt.msc. But sometimes it could be helpful to disable and enable the driver with AutoHotKey (mapping ^F12 key or whatever). So I just want to know, is there any way of enabling/disabling the driver with a command or registry? In order to be able to do that with AutoHotKey. Thanks.

  I have an imageClass MF4350d printer/scanner/fax. I've tried to install the drivers. The printer is recognized in the system settings, but nothing prints. The scanner is working in simple scan. I tried following all of the troubleshooting suggestions in this thread with no success I downloaded this driver. I downloaded the Linux_UFRII_PrinterDriver_V230_uk_EN from Canon: Installation: 1st attempt: I installed the CNCUPSMF4350ZK.ppd file in the printer settings and moved the pstoufr2cpca file to /usr/lib/cups/filter. 2nd attempt: I followed forum advice of installing a fake gs-esp to tell the system that "gs-esp" is PROVIDED by the package "fake-gs-esp" I then converted the RPM sudo apt-get install alien sudo alien -k cndrvcups-common-2.20-1.x86_64.rpm sudo alien -k cndrvcups-ufr2-uk-2.20-1.x86_64.rpm I then installed the resulting .deb packages. Since I'm new to Linux, as much detail as possible in your suggestions would be very appreciated. I am still learning how to use the Terminal. Thank you very much!

• Ubuntu stuck in low resolution after UNinstalling / disabling NVidia drivers

  Tried the Nvidia driver, installed using the Additional Drivers panel. Didn't like it much; the CPU seemed to overheat more and the brightness controls stopped working. Also selecting a second display is a pain using that horrible NVidia settings thing. So wanted to disabled it again.. problem is, UBuntu is then stuck in either 640x480 or 800x600 (second time I tried to install it back and then remove again). How can I get this back the way it was? The original Ubuntu drivers worked just fine, allowing me to run Unity and games properly. I tried a xserver-xorg reconfigure but this didn't do anything. (No xorg.conf file either). This is on a Lenovo Thinkpad T410i

  I have an Atheros AR8131 Ethernet card on a Lenovo b560 laptop. Sometime in the past, probably at some upgrade or other my wired connection stopped functioning. I know the card is ok because it works with windows. I tried upgrading to Ubuntu 11.10 hoping the problem would go away. It didn't... • Getting vga_switcheroo with ATI Mobility Radeon 5650 HD to work

  Hello! I have a new HP dv7 laptop with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 graphics card, and also Intel graphics (switchable). I have done the following and want to understand what is going on with my graphics driver Resized windows 7 and did fresh install of 10.10 Booted into 10.10 and things seemed to be working okay Enabled ATI graphics, and was clearly working on the ATI rather than Intel GPU (desktop cube worked) Rebooted, got an error that modprobe could not load modules.dep, and also something about i915 symbols Rebooted into recovery mode, modified xorg.conf to remove the mention of fglrx Rebooted, and the errors show, but then x starts but clearly in intel graphics I would ideally like to be able to switch between the ATI and Intel graphics, a la vga_switcheroo. My first problem seems to be that the folder /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo does not exist, hinting at some kind of kernel issue. What can I do to get this available? Thanks!

• glx not working, optirun works, gnome in fallback mode

  It all started when I installed nvidia's own driver. Uninstalling it and reverting back to nvidia-current didn't solve the problem, so I have been playing with this for a while. Now nvidia-current seems to be functional. It seems glx support is missing, and my intel graphics is not responding. gnome loads only in fallback mode. I'm having issues when I watch movies - they are jumping all the time, even with Compiz disabled and when that is the only thing I am doing.
