  I would like to set up a server similar to Google's. Their domain acts like a double domain, like you can use these URLS, "play.Google.com" or "apps.Google.com", to go to different sites.. For example, my domain would now be "my_domain.com" but i would like another one to be "domain2.my_domain.com". My question is,what is this officially called and how do i set it up? I'm not sure if you need two servers or just 1;

• Using both .co.uk and .com domain

  We presently have a .co.uk domain that has been live now for around 9-10 months, recently the .com version of this domain has become available and we've purchased based on reading that suggests you should try and go for .com where possible. My issue now is, what should I do with the .com? Should I use this in favour of the .co.uk or use both? I'm concerned that rankings might be affected if I completely replace the .co.uk with the .com. Any suggestions?

• SSL/https setup for herokuapp.com address rather than my actual domain

  I have a subdomain of my site pointed to a rails app at mysite.herokuapp.com. I bought a certificate from godaddy and seem to have that all set up correctly. So that when I go to: http://mysite.herokuapp.com or http://dev.mysite.com it's redirected to: https://mysite.herokuapp.com or https://dev.mysite.com The problem is that when I visit dev.mysite.com, I get the error: Safari can't verify the identity of the website. But when I go to mysite.herokuapp.com, I don't get the error. I wanted this to be set up the other way, so that dev.mysite.com did not cause the error. I'm not sure where I went wrong. I used dev.mysite.com when generating the key and when setting it up at godaddy.com. Any ideas where I should look? P.S. The old site is hosted at dreamhost and the DNS info is stored there as well. So I created a subdomain there of type cname which points to mysite.herokuapp.com.

However, if I put www.domain2.com, everything works fine. I don't see any difference between two VirtualHost config block, so I wonder what does make the difference. • Calling Excel from PHP 5 through COM fails on Windows 7 when Apache started through Task Planner

  I currently write an application, which controls Excel through COM: The app creates a COM-based Excel instance, opens some XLS files and reads their contents. Scenario I On Windows 7, I start Apache and mySQL using xmapp-control with system administrator rights. All works as expected. The PHP-based controller script interacts with Excel as expected. Scenario II A problem appears, if I start Apache and mySQL as 'background jobs'. Here is how: I created two jobs using Windows 7 Task Planner. One runs apache_start.bat, the other runs mysql_start.bat. Both tasks run as SYSTEM with elevated privileges when Windows 7 boots. Apache and mySQL work as expected. Specifically, Apache serves HTTP request from clients and PHP is able to talk to mySQL. When I call the PHP controller, which calls and interacts with Excel using COM, I do receive an error. The error seems to come from Excel [not COM itself] and reads like this: Excel can't read the XLS-file Excel failed to save the file due to an ill-name worksheet Interestingly, during the first run of the PHP-based controller script, it takes a few seconds to render the error message. Each subsequent run immediately renders the error message. Windows system logs didn't show a single problem report entry. Note, that the PHP program and the Apache instance didn't change - except the way Apache was started. At least the PHP controller script is perfectly able to read the file-system, since it provides the pathes to the XLS-file through scandir() of a certain directory. Concurrency issues can't be the cause of the problem. A single instance of the specific PHP controller interacts with Excel. Question Could someone provide details, why this happens?

  If you're like me, you have a hard time keeping up with all the technologies out there. The reality is there's too many new technologies (languages, methodologies,  tools, etc). One of the ways I try to keep up with everything is by using good ol' RSS feeds in conjunction with Google Reader. Google Reader is both an online aggregator of RSS feeds, and it also has a good companion app on Google Android. The nicest part of Google Reader for me is the "All Listings" view which gives me a reverse chronological view of ALL articles (mixed together) regardless of the actual RSS feed.  This way, I get to see the newest articles first. • Which collection interface should I use in .NET for COM-interop?

  That is a followup from my previous question, but you don't need to read it to understand that one. I'm designing an interface in .NET that would be consumed from COM applications (mainly VB6, but Visual C++ 6 is also a possibility) and I would like to use Collection types as argument and return types for the methods in the interface. Questions: What happens to the VB6 built-in collection types (arrays, collections, dictionaries) when they go through interop? My current guess is that: arrays - System.Array collections - Microsoft.VisualBasic.Collection dictionaries - System.Collections.Hashtable Is that correct? Which interfaces should I use as return types? IEnumerable, ICollection, IList, IDictionary? Would I be able to do a For Each in VB6 to iterate over these interfaces? Should I use the generic or non-generic variants of the interfaces?

  I'm working with C# and Office 2007's Excel Interop API. I'm opening an Excel file, applying some formatting and then sending it to the printer. I've got a problem, though. The Footer text doesn't appear to be printing. If I check the PageSetup.RightFooter property, I can see the expected Page Number in the Footer. That Page Number doesn't appear anywhere on the printed output sheet. When I print using Excel, though, they appear. Does anyone know why my Footer text is not appearing? Here's my code.   Hello, I'm trying to write a Delphi program that will loop through each worksheet in an Excel file and format some cells. I'm receiving an error while trying to use the for-in loop over the Workbook.Worksheets collection, though. The error is specifically: [DCC Error] Office.pas(36): E2431 for-in statement cannot operate on collection type 'Sheets' because 'Sheets' does not contain a member for 'GetEnumerator', or it is inaccessible The line of code this occurs for is: for Worksheet in Workbook.Worksheets do The definition of Worksheet and Workbook is as follows: var ExcelApp: ExcelApplication; var Workbook: ExcelWorkbook; var Worksheet: ExcelWorksheet; I'm porting this code to Delphi from C#, in which it works. • C# app that uses Excel Interop, easy switch between 2003 2007?

  I have an app written that just does really basic I/O on a spreadsheet. Read in a bunch of cells, do some sorting, and dump the output back into another spreadsheet. Works great on my machine. I have Office 2003 installed. When it runs on someone elses machine with 2007, it bombs, presumably due to the different versions of the Interop assemblies. I was hoping someone knew a way to dynamically change which/where the assembly is loaded from depending on the office version (getting the office version is easy from the registry). Sifting thru the rest of the internet, i didnt see anything to indicate that was possible :( . I tried installing the 2007 PIAs, but when i try to add a reference, they dont show up and i have no idea where to browse for them (they arent in the c:\windows\assemblies\; maybe the install didnt work). Am I going to have to get a machine with 2007 installed to build on every time i need to make updates?

  I'm having an issue that is a little strange. I have a cPanel webserver that I own and have root. I was testing out emailing and noticed some issues. When I send an email to outlook.com address the email sends ok but nothing is recieved at the outlook mailbox. This is a new IP address allocation from our ISP and there was a block on gmail addresses, so we know it was used for spam. But with gmail we got a notifaction of failure and I know outlook/microsoft also send out notification. Does anyone know what could be happening here? Thanks
