    Hey! So I'm trying to code something on wordpress for the first time but the validator doesn't seem to like me. Look at the error I got while validating: Line 87, Column 33: document type does not allow element "li" here; missing one of "ul", "ol", "menu", "dir" start-tag I've searched everywhere, I'm not aware of any missing or misplaced li or ul tags can someone help me out on this one? <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head profile="http://gmpg.org/xfn/11"> <title> Blog</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <meta name="generator" content="WordPress 2.9.2" /> <!-- leave this for stats please --> <link rel="stylesheet" href="http://localhost/wordpress/wp-content/themes/cmc-milagro/style.css" type="text/css" media="screen" /> <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="RSS 2.0" href="http://localhost/wordpress/?feed=rss2" /> <link rel="alternate" type="text/xml" title="RSS .92" href="http://localhost/wordpress/?feed=rss" /> <link rel="alternate" type="application/atom+xml" title="Atom 0.3" href="http://localhost/wordpress/?feed=atom" /> <link rel="pingback" href="http://localhost/wordpress/xmlrpc.php" /> <link rel='archives' title='March 2010' href='http://localhost/wordpress/?m=201003' /> <link rel="EditURI" type="application/rsd+xml" title="RSD" href="http://localhost/wordpress/xmlrpc.php?rsd" /> <link rel="wlwmanifest" type="application/wlwmanifest+xml" href="http://localhost/wordpress/wp-includes/wlwmanifest.xml" /> <link rel='index' title='Blog' href='http://localhost/wordpress' /> <meta name="generator" content="WordPress 2.9.2" /> </head> <body> <div> <h1><a href="http://localhost/wordpress"> Blog</a> </h1> Just another WordPress weblog</div> <div id="container"> <h2><a href="http://localhost/wordpress/?p=8"> Teste Post 3 </a></h2> <div class="post" id="post-8"> <div class="entry"> <p>Aliquam erat volutpat.   • Passing data between android ListActivities in Java

    - by Will Janes
    I am new to Android! I am having a problem getting this code to work... Basically I Go from one list activity to another and pass the text from a list item through the intent of the activity to the new list view, then retrieve that text in the new list activity and then preform a http request based on value of that list item. Log Cat 04-05 17:47:32.370: E/AndroidRuntime(30135): FATAL EXCEPTION: main 04-05 17:47:32.370: E/AndroidRuntime(30135): java.lang.ClassCastException:android.widget.LinearLayout 04-05 17:47:32.370: E/AndroidRuntime(30135): at com.thickcrustdesigns.ufood.CatogPage$1.onItemClick(CatogPage.java:66) 04-05 17:47:32.370: E/AndroidRuntime(30135): at android.widget.AdapterView.performItemClick(AdapterView.java:284) 04-05 17:47:32.370: E/AndroidRuntime(30135): at android.widget.ListView.performItemClick(ListView.java:3731) 04-05 17:47:32.370: E/AndroidRuntime(30135): at android.widget.AbsListView$PerformClick.run(AbsListView.java:1959) 04-05 17:47:32.370: E/AndroidRuntime(30135): at android.os.Handler.handleCallback(Handler.java:587) 04-05 17:47:32.370: E/AndroidRuntime(30135): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:92) 04-05 17:47:32.370: E/AndroidRuntime(30135): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:130) 04-05 17:47:32.370: E/AndroidRuntime(30135): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:3691) 04-05 17:47:32.370: E/AndroidRuntime(30135): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 04-05 17:47:32.370: E/AndroidRuntime(30135): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:507) 04-05 17:47:32.370: E/AndroidRuntime(30135): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:907) 04-05 17:47:32.370: E/AndroidRuntime(30135): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:665) 04-05 17:47:32.370: E/AndroidRuntime(30135): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) ListActivity 1 package com.thickcrustdesigns.ufood;   • jQuery Templates on Microsoft Ajax CDN

    - by Stephen Walther
    The beta version of the jQuery Templates plugin is now hosted on the Microsoft Ajax CDN. You can start using the jQuery Templates plugin in your application by referencing both jQuery 1.4.2 and jQuery Templates from the CDN. Here are the two script tags that you will want to use when developing an application: <script type="text/javascript" src=”http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/jquery/jquery-1.4.2.js”></script> <script type="text/javascript" src=”http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/jquery.templates/beta1/jquery.tmpl.js”></script> In addition, minified versions of both files are available from the CDN: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/jquery/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/jquery.templates/beta1/jquery.tmpl.min.js"></script> Here’s a full code sample of using jQuery Templates from the CDN to display pictures of cats from Flickr: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>Cats</title> <style type="text/css"> html { background-color:Orange; } #catBox div { width:250px; height:250px; border:solid 1px black; background-color:White; margin:5px; padding:5px; float:left; } #catBox img { width:200px; height: 200px; } </style> </head> <body> <h1>Cat Photos!</h1> <div id="catBox"></div> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/jquery/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/jquery.templates/beta1/jquery.tmpl.min.js"></script> <script id="catTemplate" type="text/x-jquery-tmpl"> <div> <b>${title}</b> <br /> <img src="${media.m}" /> </div> </script> <script type="text/javascript"> var url = "http://api.flickr.com/services/feeds/groups_pool.gne?id=44124373027@N01&lang=en-us&format=json&jsoncallback=?"; // Grab some flickr images of cats $.getJSON(url, function (data) { // Format the data using the catTemplate template $("#catTemplate").tmpl(data.items).appendTo("#catBox"); }); </script> </body> </html> This page displays a list of cats retrieved from Flickr: Notice that the cat pictures are retrieved and rendered with just a few lines of code: var url = "http://api.flickr.com/services/feeds/groups_pool.gne?id=44124373027@N01&lang=en-us&format=json&jsoncallback=?"; // Grab some flickr images of cats $.getJSON(url, function (data) { // Format the data using the catTemplate template $("#catTemplate").tmpl(data.items).appendTo("#catBox"); }); The final line of code, the one that calls the tmpl() method, uses the Templates plugin to render the cat photos in a template named catTemplate. The catTemplate template is contained within a SCRIPT element with type="text/x-jquery-tmpl". The jQuery Templates plugin is an “official” jQuery plugin which will be included in jQuery 1.5 (the next major release of jQuery). You can read the full documentation for the plugin at the jQuery website: http://api.jquery.com/category/plugins/templates/ The jQuery Templates plugin is still beta so we would really appreciate your feedback on the plugin. Let us know if you use the Templates plugin in your website.

  • Friday Fun: Spell Blazer

    - by Asian Angel
    Are you ready for some fun and adventure after a long week back at work? This week’s game combines jewel-matching style game play with an RPG story for an awesome mix of fun and fiction. Your goal is to help a young wizard reach the magic academy in Raven as the forces of darkness are building. Spell Blazer The object of the game is to help young Kaven reach the Lightcaster Academy in Raven alive, but he will encounter many dangers along the way. Are you ready to begin the quest? As soon as you click Start Game the intro will automatically begin. If this is your first time playing the game the intro provides a nice background story for the game and what is happening in the game environment. Once you are past the intro, you will see a map of the region with your starting point in the Farmlands, various towns and the roads connecting them, along with your final destination of Raven. Notice that some of the roads are different colors…those colors indicate the “danger levels” for each part of your journey (green = good, yellow = some danger, etc.). To begin your journey click on the Town of Goose with your mouse. You will encounter your first monster part of the way towards Goose. This first round takes you through the game play process step-by-step. Once you have clicked Okay you will see the details about the monster you have just encountered. It is very important that you do not click on Fight! or Flee! until viewing and noting the types of spells that the monster is resistant to or has a weakness against. Choose your spells wisely based on the information provided about the monster. Keep in mind that the healing spell can be very useful depending on the monster you meet and your current health status. Note: Spells shown in order here are Healing, Fireball, Icebolt, & Lightning. Ready to fight! The first battle will also explain how to fight…click Okay to get started. Once the main window is in full view there are details that you need to look at. Beneath each of the combatants you will see the three attacks that each brings to the battle and at the bottom you will see their respective health points. We got lucky and had an Icebolt attack that we could utilize on the first play! Note: You can exchange two squares without making a match in order to try and line up an attack. While it happened too quickly to capture in our screenshot, there will be cool lightning bolt effects shoot out from matched up squares to the opposite combatant. You will also see the amount of damage inflicted from a particular attack on top of the avatars. Victory! • Indexing data from multiple tables with Oracle Text

    - by Roger Ford
    It's well known that Oracle Text indexes perform best when all the data to be indexed is combined into a single index. The query select * from mytable where contains (title, 'dog') 0 or contains (body, 'cat') 0 will tend to perform much worse than select * from mytable where contains (text, 'dog WITHIN title OR cat WITHIN body') 0 For this reason, Oracle Text provides the MULTI_COLUMN_DATASTORE which will combine data from multiple columns into a single index. Effectively, it constructs a "virtual document" at indexing time, which might look something like: <title>the big dog</title> <body>the ginger cat smiles</body> This virtual document can be indexed using either AUTO_SECTION_GROUP, or by explicitly defining sections for title and body, allowing the query as expressed above. Note that we've used a column called "text" - this might have been a dummy column added to the table simply to allow us to create an index on it - or we could created the index on either of the "real" columns - title or body. It should be noted that MULTI_COLUMN_DATASTORE doesn't automatically handle updates to columns used by it - if you create the index on the column text, but specify that columns title and body are to be indexed, you will need to arrange triggers such that the text column is updated whenever title or body are altered. That works fine for single tables. But what if we actually want to combine data from multiple tables? In that case there are two approaches which work well: Create a real table which contains a summary of the information, and create the index on that using the MULTI_COLUMN_DATASTORE. This is simple, and effective, but it does use a lot of disk space as the information to be indexed has to be duplicated. Create our own "virtual" documents using the USER_DATASTORE. The user datastore allows us to specify a PL/SQL procedure which will be used to fetch the data to be indexed, returned in a CLOB, or occasionally in a BLOB or VARCHAR2. This PL/SQL procedure is called once for each row in the table to be indexed, and is passed the ROWID value of the current row being indexed. The actual contents of the procedure is entirely up to the owner, but it is normal to fetch data from one or more columns from database tables. In both cases, we still need to take care of updates - making sure that we have all the triggers necessary to update the indexed column (and, in case 1, the summary table) whenever any of the data to be indexed gets changed. I've written full examples of both these techniques, as SQL scripts to be run in the SQL*Plus tool. You will need to run them as a user who has CTXAPP role and CREATE DIRECTORY privilege. Part of the data to be indexed is a Microsoft Word file called "1.doc". You should create this file in Word, preferably containing the single line of text: "test document". This file can be saved anywhere, but the SQL scripts need to be changed so that the "create or replace directory" command refers to the right location. In the example, I've used C:\doc. multi_table_indexing_1.sql : creates a summary table containing all the data, and uses multi_column_datastore Download link / View in browser multi_table_indexing_2.sql : creates "virtual" documents using a procedure as a user_datastore Download link / View in browser

  • NHibernate Query across multiple tables

    - by Dai Bok
    I am using NHibernate, and am trying to figure out how to write a query, that searchs all the names of my entities, and lists the results. As a simple example, I have the following objects; public class Cat { public string name {get; set;} } public class Dog { public string name {get; set;} } public class Owner { public string firstname {get; set;} public string lastname {get; set;} } Eventaully I want to create a query , say for example, which and returns all the pet owners with an name containing "ted", OR pets with a name containing "ted". Here is an example of the SQL I want to execute: SELECT TOP 10 d.*, c.*, o.* FROM owners AS o INNER JOIN dogs AS d ON o.id = d.ownerId INNER JOIN cats AS c ON o.id = c.ownerId WHERE o.lastname like '%ted%' OR o.firstname like '%ted%' OR c.name like '%ted%' OR d.name like '%ted%' When I do it using Criteria like this: var criteria = session.CreateCriteria<Owner>() .Add( Restrictions.Disjunction() .Add(Restrictions.Like("FirstName", keyword, MatchMode.Anywhere)) .Add(Restrictions.Like("LastName", keyword, MatchMode.Anywhere)) ) .CreateCriteria("Dog").Add(Restrictions.Like("Name", keyword, MatchMode.Anywhere)) .CreateCriteria("Cat").Add(Restrictions.Like("Name", keyword, MatchMode.Anywhere)); return criteria.List<Owner>(); The following query is generated: SELECT TOP 10 d.*, c.*, o.* FROM owners AS o INNER JOIN dogs AS d ON o.id = d.ownerId INNER JOIN cats AS c ON o.id = c.ownerId WHERE o.lastname like '%ted%' OR o.firstname like '%ted%' AND d.name like '%ted%' AND c.name like '%ted%' How can I adjust my query so that the .CreateCriteria("Dog") and .CreateCriteria("Cat") generate an OR instead of the AND? thanks for your help.

  • How do I use PerformanceCounterType AverageTimer32?

    - by Patrick J Collins
    I'm trying to measure the time it takes to execute a piece of code on my production server. I'd like to monitor this information in real time, so I decided to give Performance Analyser a whizz. I understand from MSDN that I need to create both an AverageTimer32 and an AverageBase performance counter, which I duly have. I increment the counter in my program, and I can see the CallCount go up and down, but the AverageTime is always zero. What am I doing wrong? Thanks! Here's a snippit of code : long init_call_time = Environment.TickCount; // *** // Lots and lots of code... // *** // Count number of calls PerformanceCounter perf = new PerformanceCounter("Cat", "CallCount", "Instance", false); perf.Increment(); perf.Close(); // Count execution time PerformanceCounter perf2 = new PerformanceCounter("Cat", "CallTime", "Instance", false); perf2.NextValue(); perf2.IncrementBy(Environment.TickCount - init_call_time); perf2.Close(); // Average base for execution time PerformanceCounter perf3 = new PerformanceCounter("Cat", "CallTimeBase", "Instance", false); perf3.Increment(); perf3.Close(); perf2.NextValue();

  • XML serialization query

    - by David Neale
    I have the following XML which needs deserializing/serializing: <instance> <dog> <items> <item> <label>Spaniel</label> </item> </items> </dog> <cat> <items> <item> <label>Tabby</label> </item> </items> </cat> </instance> I cannot change the XML structure. I need to map this to the following class: [Serializable, XmlRoot("instance")] public class AnimalInstance { public string Dog { get; set; } public string Cat { get; set; } } I'm not really sure where to start on this one without manually parsing the XML. I'd like to keep the code as brief as possible. Any ideas? (and no, my project doesn't actually involve cats and dogs).

  • WordPress > Optimizing a query to show recent posts with a "View All" link when postcount exceeds ma

    - by Scott B
    I have a setting in my theme that allows the site owner to set the maximum number of posts ($maxPosts) to display in a "Recent Posts" menu. I'm using a custom script to generate the recent posts (because the Recent Posts widget does not highlight the current page, which I need for my css). My menu also is set up to display a "View All" link below the post listing, but only if the actual post count is $maxposts I'm trying to work out the best method for getting the post count and comparing it to $maxposts in order to determine whether or not to show a "View All" link. I'm sure there's probably a better way, but here's my code. I'm looking to optimize it to support very large post counts... $cat=get_cat_ID('excludeFromRecentPosts'); $catHidden=get_cat_ID('hidden'); $myquery = new WP_Query(); $myquery->query(array( 'cat' => "-$cat,-$catHidden", 'post_not_in' => get_option('sticky_posts') )); $myrecentpostscount = $myquery->found_posts; if ($myrecentpostscount > 0) { //show the menu if ($myrecentpostscount > $maxPosts) { //show "View All" link } } I really only need to determine if the total post count from the query is greater than the maxPost setting in order to determine whether to show the "View All" link, so I'm wondering if, in the case there are thousands of posts matching the criteria, to avoid performance issues, I don't need to get a count of all of them. I just need to count up until the point of maxPosts + 1, and that's where I'm struggling a bit because the user could elect to make maxPosts = -1 which means they want to show all posts. But this would be impractical, so I would probably set a upper limit of 20...

  • Compiling C lib and OCaml exe using it, all using ocamlfind

    - by Magnus
    I'm trying to work out how to use ocamlfind to compile a C library and an OCaml executable using that C library. I put together a set of rather silly example files. % cat sillystubs.c #include <stdio.h> #include <caml/mlvalues.h> #include <caml/memory.h> #include <caml/alloc.h> #include <caml/custom.h> value caml_silly_silly( value unit ) { CAMLparam1( unit ); printf( "%s\n", __FILE__ ); CAMLreturn( Val_unit ); } % cat silly.mli external silly : unit -> unit = "silly_silly" % cat foo.ml open Silly open String let _ = print_string "About to call into silly"; silly (); print_string "Called into silly" I believe the following is the way to compile up the library: % ocamlfind ocamlc -c sillystubs.c % ar rc libsillystubs.a sillystubs.o % ocamlfind ocamlc -c silly.mli % ocamlfind ocmalc -a -o silly.cma -ccopt -L${PWD} -cclib -lsillystubs Now I don't seem to be able to use the created library though: % ocamlfind ocamlc -custom -o foo foo.cmo silly.cma /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lsillystubs collect2: ld returned 1 exit status File "_none_", line 1, characters 0-1: Error: Error while building custom runtime system The OCaml tools are somewhat mysterious to me, so any pointers would be most welcome.

  • Trouble with piping through sed

    - by Joel
    I am having trouble piping through sed. Once I have piped output to sed, I cannot pipe the output of sed elsewhere. wget -r -nv http://127.0.0.1:3000/test.html Outputs: 2010-03-12 04:41:48 URL:http://127.0.0.1:3000/test.html [99/99] -> "127.0.0.1:3000/test.html" [1] 2010-03-12 04:41:48 URL:http://127.0.0.1:3000/robots.txt [83/83] -> "127.0.0.1:3000/robots.txt" [1] 2010-03-12 04:41:48 URL:http://127.0.0.1:3000/shop [22818/22818] -> "127.0.0.1:3000/shop.29" [1] I pipe the output through sed to get a clean list of URLs: wget -r -nv http://127.0.0.1:3000/test.html 2>&1 | grep --line-buffered -v ERROR | sed 's/^.*URL:\([^ ]*\).*/\1/g' Outputs: http://127.0.0.1:3000/test.html http://127.0.0.1:3000/robots.txt http://127.0.0.1:3000/shop I would like to then dump the output to file, so I do this: wget -r -nv http://127.0.0.1:3000/test.html 2>&1 | grep --line-buffered -v ERROR | sed 's/^.*URL:\([^ ]*\).*/\1/g' > /tmp/DUMP_FILE I interrupt the process after a few seconds and check the file, yet it is empty. Interesting, the following yields no output (same as above, but piping sed output through cat): wget -r -nv http://127.0.0.1:3000/test.html 2>&1 | grep --line-buffered -v ERROR | sed 's/^.*URL:\([^ ]*\).*/\1/g' | cat Why can I not pipe the output of sed to another program like cat?

  • Hierarchy of meaning

    - by asldkncvas
    I am looking for a method to build a hierarchy of words. Background: I am a "amateur" natural language processing enthusiast and right now one of the problems that I am interested in is determining the hierarchy of word semantics from a group of words. For example, if I have the set which contains a "super" representation of others, i.e. [cat, dog, monkey, animal, bird, ... ] I am interested to use any technique which would allow me to extract the word 'animal' which has the most meaningful and accurate representation of the other words inside this set. Note: they are NOT the same in meaning. cat != dog != monkey != animal BUT cat is a subset of animal and dog is a subset of animal. I know by now a lot of you will be telling me to use wordnet. Well, I will try to but I am actually interested in doing a very domain specific area which WordNet doesn't apply because: 1) Most words are not found in Wordnet 2) All the words are in another language; translation is possible but is to limited effect. another example would be: [ noise reduction, focal length, flash, functionality, .. ] so functionality includes everything in this set. I have also tried crawling wikipedia pages and applying some techniques on td-idf etc but wikipedia pages doesn't really do much either. Can someone possibly enlighten me as to what direction my research should go towards? (I could use anything)

    Hi all, I have a simple Cookie to set the chosen language: $lang = $_GET['lang']; $myLang = $_COOKIE["myLang"]; if (!isset($_COOKIE["myLang"])){ setcookie("myLang", "en", $expire); include "languages/en.php"; $myLang = "en"; }else{ include "languages/$myLang.php"; } // One year to expire $expire = time()+60*60*24*30*365; // Put $languages in a common header file. $languages = array('en' => 1, 'fr' => 2, 'nl' => 3); if (array_key_exists($lang, $languages)) { include "languages/{$lang}.php"; setcookie("myLang", $lang, $expire); $myLang = $lang; } After using some rewrite rules, it just doesn't work anymore. I tried the following: setcookie("myLang", "en", $expire, "/" , false); No luck at all. This is my .htaccess file: <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> Options +FollowSymLinks Options +Indexes RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteRule ^sort/([^/]*)/([^/]*)$ /3arsi2/sort.php?mode=$1&cat=$2 [L] RewriteRule ^category/([^/]*)$ /3arsi2/category.php?cat=$1 [L] RewriteRule ^category/([^/]*)/([^/]*)$ /3arsi2/category.php?cat=$1&lang=$2 [L] RewriteRule ^search/([^/]*)$ /3arsi2/search.php?mode=$1 [L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^u/([^/]+)/?$ 3arsi2/user.php?user=$1 [NC,L] RewriteRule ^u/([^/]+)/(images|videos|music)/?$ 3arsi2/user.php?user=$1&page=$2 [NC,L] RewriteRule ^([^\.]+)$ 3arsi2/$1.php [NC,L] </IfModule> Any idea how to solve this? I'm still new to the mod rewrite thing, so I still don't really understand the logic behind it all. Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • Reading strings and integers from .txt file and printing output as strings only

    - by screename71
    Hello, I'm new to C++, and I'm trying to write a short C++ program that reads lines of text from a file, with each line containing one integer key and one alphanumeric string value (no embedded whitespace). The number of lines is not known in advance, (i.e., keep reading lines until end of file is reached). The program needs to use the 'std::map' data structure to store integers and strings read from input (and to associate integers with strings). The program then needs to output string values (but not integer values) to standard output, 1 per line, sorted by integer key values (smallest to largest). So, for example, suppose I have a text file called "data.txt" which contains the following three lines: 10 dog -50 horse 0 cat -12 zebra 14 walrus The output should then be: horse zebra cat dog walrus I've pasted below the progress I've made so far on my C++ program: #include <fstream> #include <iostream> #include <map> using namespace std; using std::map; int main () { string name; signed int value; ifstream myfile ("data.txt"); while (! myfile.eof() ) { getline(myfile,name,'\n'); myfile >> value >> name; cout << name << endl; } return 0; myfile.close(); } Unfortunately, this produces the following incorrect output: horse cat zebra walrus If anyone has any tips, hints, suggestions, etc. on changes and revisions I need to make to the program to get it to work as needed, can you please let me know? Thanks!

  • Problem with passing vector of pointers to objects to member function of another object

    - by Jamesz
    Hi, I have a vector of pointers to Mouse objects called 'mice'. I'm passing the mice to the cat by reference. vector <Mouse*> mice; Cat * c; c->lookForMouse(&mice); And here's my lookForMouse() member function void Cat::lookForMouse(vector <Mouse*> *mice) { ... } And now to the problem! Within the function above, I can't seem to access my mice. This below will not work mice[i]->isActive(); The error message I receive suggests to use mice[i].isActive(), but this throws an error saying isActive() is not a member of std::vector<_Ty ... This works though... vector <Mouse*> miceCopy = *mice; miceCopy[i]->isActive(); I understand that I shouldn't be creating another vector of mice here, it defeats the whole point of passing it by reference (let me know if I'm wrong)... Why can't I do mice[i]-isActive() What should I be doing? Thanks for your time and help :D James.

  • How to use observer_field in RoR?

    - by Sindri Guðmundsson
    Hi, I have a single select_tag with categories gathered from array in controller. When the user selects a category I want the application to redirect to the selected category. I have the following code in my view which. (I've tried both using :method = :get and :post, only change is in development.log) <%=select_tag "cat_selected", options_for_select(@cats_for_mt)%><br> <%=observe_field 'cat_selected', :url => {:action => :viewflokkur}, :with => 'cat', :method => :get %> When I select one of the options the following gets logged to development.log. Processing CategoriesController#viewflokkur (for 127.0.0.1 at 2010-06-12 12:33:26) [GET] Parameters: {"cat"=>"Taugasjúkraþjálfun", "authenticity_token"=> "B2u5ULNr7IJ/ta0+hiAMBjmjEtTtc/yMAQQvSxFn2d0="} Rendering template within layouts/main Rendering categories/viewflokkur Completed in 20ms (View: 18, DB: 0) | 200 OK [http://localhost/categories/viewflokkur?cat=Taugasj%C3%BAkra%C3%BEj%C3%A1lfun&authenticity_token=B2u5ULNr7IJ%2Fta0%2BhiAMBjmjEtTtc%2FyMAQQvSxFn2d0%3D] According to this I should now be in "viewflokkur", but nothing changes in the browser window. Is there anything else I need to do, maybe in the controller? BR, Sindri

  • jQuery Suspected Naming Convention Problem

    - by donfigga
    Hi all, I'm having a problem with this jQuery function, the portion of the function that renames the id, class and name of the dropdown only works for the first dropdown, subsequent ones do not work, any ideas? I suspect it may have something to do with naming convention as in cat.parent_id but it is required for asp.net mvc model binding. $(document).ready(function () { $("table select").live("change", function () { var id = $(this).attr('id'); if ($(this).attr('classname') != "selected") { var rowIndex = $(this).closest('tr').prevAll().length; $.getJSON("/Category/GetSubCategories/" + $(this).val(), function (data) { if (data.length > 0) { //problematic portion $("#" + id).attr('classname', 'selected'); $("#" + id).attr('name', 'sel' + rowIndex); $("#" + id).attr('id', 'sel' + rowIndex); var position = ($('table').get(0)); var tr = position.insertRow(rowIndex + 1); var td1 = tr.insertCell(-1); var td2 = tr.insertCell(-1); td1.appendChild(document.createTextNode('SubCategory')); var sel = document.createElement("select"); sel.name = 'parent_id'; sel.id = 'parent_id'; sel.setAttribute('class', 'unselected'); td2.appendChild(sel); $('#parent_id').append($("<option></option>").attr("value", "-1").text("-please select item-")); $.each(data, function (GetSubCatergories, Category) { $('#parent_id').append($("<option></option>"). attr("value", Category.category_id). text(Category.name)); }); sel.name = 'cat.parent_id'; sel.id = 'cat.parent_id'; } }); } }); });

  • Optimizing a "set in a string list" to a "set as a matrix" operation

    - by Eric Fournier
    I have a set of strings which contain space-separated elements. I want to build a matrix which will tell me which elements were part of which strings. For example: "" "A B C" "D" "B D" Should give something like: A B C D 1 2 1 1 1 3 1 4 1 1 Now I've got a solution, but it runs slow as molasse, and I've run out of ideas on how to make it faster: reverseIn <- function(vector, value) { return(value %in% vector) } buildCategoryMatrix <- function(valueVector) { allClasses <- c() for(classVec in unique(valueVector)) { allClasses <- unique(c(allClasses, strsplit(classVec, " ", fixed=TRUE)[[1]])) } resMatrix <- matrix(ncol=0, nrow=length(valueVector)) splitValues <- strsplit(valueVector, " ", fixed=TRUE) for(cat in allClasses) { if(cat=="") { catIsPart <- (valueVector == "") } else { catIsPart <- sapply(splitValues, reverseIn, cat) } resMatrix <- cbind(resMatrix, catIsPart) } colnames(resMatrix) <- allClasses return(resMatrix) } Profiling the function gives me this: $by.self self.time self.pct total.time total.pct "match" 31.20 34.74 31.24 34.79 "FUN" 30.26 33.70 74.30 82.74 "lapply" 13.56 15.10 87.86 97.84 "%in%" 12.92 14.39 44.10 49.11 So my actual questions would be: - Where are the 33% spent in "FUN" coming from? - Would there be any way to speed up the %in% call? I tried turning the strings into factors prior to going into the loop so that I'd be matching numbers instead of strings, but that actually makes R crash. I've also tried going for partial matrix assignment (IE, resMatrix[i,x] <- 1) where i is the number of the string and x is the vector of factors. No dice there either, as it seems to keep on running infinitely.
