• How to specify root's environment variable?

  I do rails development. In this app, I need to specify the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH = /usr/local/oracle/lib But when I run the app with sudo script/server, it doesn't run because that library path is not in roots' env. What should I do to make it work? I tried to put the path under root ./bashrc and it didn't work.

The certificate expiration will cause errors if you attempt to configure Database Control on or after 31-Dec-2010. Existing Database Control configurations are not affected by this issue. Likelihood of Occurrence What Versions Are Affected? The issue impacts configuration of Database Control with Oracle Database 10.2.0.4 and 10.2.0.5 only. It does not impact database creation or upgrade. The issue does not impact existing Database Control configurations. What Happens During Database Control Configuration Failure?   I've upgraded from Ubuntu 13.04 to Ubuntu 13.10, then ibus-avro for Bengali is not working. I've tried to reinstall ibus but no success. ibus-avro Icon is showing but not sure whats the problem. It should be working like this... The icon on top is showing properly, but it's not working. May be there are some communication problem. So currently after upgrade it's like this... As we can see the Bangla text is not appearing... • Why doesn't apache2 respect my envvars file?

  My envvar files has these lines in it: export APACHE_RUN_USER=www-data export APACHE_RUN_GROUP=www-data My apache2.conf has these lines in it: # These need to be set in /etc/apache2/envvars User ${APACHE_RUN_USER} Group ${APACHE_RUN_GROUP} But when I run apache2 -M I get this: apache2: bad user name ${APACHE_RUN_USER} A temporary fix is to hard-code www-data into it my apache2.conf file. There was some speculation here that this was because some configuration script didn't replace the env vars correctly in my apache2.conf file. Regardless how do I get apache2 to consult my envvars file? As another data point this site seems to indicate the envvars is generated at build, but read by apache2ctl at runtime, suggesting that this file isn't just poop leftover by the build process.

  I recently moved from Eclipse Indigo to Juno. I installed the IDE in my Ubuntu 12.04 by downloading the archive from here. Then I created an entry in the unity launcher for Juno as I done before for Indigo.   I am working on RHEL6 behind a proxy at my workplace. In order to make wget and other applications work, I modified my /etc/environment and added definitions for http_proxy, https_proxy, and ftp_proxy. I logged out and back in. As desired, wget works correctly. However, commands like sudo wget and sudo yum do not work. Upon further investigation, I see the reason is because my http_proxy settings are not being shown when I type "sudo env". In fact PATH is also reset. How can I get http_proxy to be set for sudo?

• ThinkPad fan control via procfs

  My ThinkPad W500 used to crash sometimes under heavy load because the automatic control is not speeding up the fan far enough. But I was able to disengage the fan and let it run at full speed in Ubuntu 10.10. But this does not work in my new nice and shiny Ubuntu 11.10.   I just got an invitation for Google+, the video conference feature "hangout" is the first feature I checked out, and unfortunately the webcam is not working, the mic and speakers work ok. When I started it, it recquired me to install a new version of Google Talk plugin 2.1.7.0. It seems that now the gmail chat and the chat within empathy( that used to work) does not work either. in the settings of the webcam in google hangout window my only option, is gspca driver. Notice that my cam had problems with skype, and i had to go around it by env LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l2convert.so skype How can I make it work?

  I just created a new environment with AWS and uploaded a .zip file into elastic beanstalk. I used to have a friend's server host my site instead of GoDaddy so I changed my custom DNS name servers from pointing to my friend's server to GoDaddy's. AWS told me that I need I need to add a CNAME record on GoDaddy and I did. The alias is lance and the host is lance-env.elasticbeanstalk.com. I know that this change can take 24-48 hours to take effect but it's been a day already and when I go to my site, a default page from GoDaddy appears. I'm very new to AWS and would just like to find a way for AWS to host my site other than using Route53.

  My office has a suite of web reporting engines written in VB. All in all there's about 300 reports with varying displays depending on the data being input into them. I'm trying to establish an efficient way to deal with such a major diversity, but am struggling with creating a system that won't be a nightmare to code/maintain. What I've considered doing is: On program launch, read the steps required for each test page. This may have multiple tests for the same page with varying inputs. Write each iteration of the test in XML file under $env:temp/testname Use the TestCaseSource attribute of Nunit to funnel every related xml file as a source. My major stumbling block has been how to get that data to the Nunit framework. Is Nunit really appropriate for what I'm trying to do, or is it too static?

Why do I need to enclose in quotes on RH? There are no spaces in the variable name?

  Hi there! I have to execute long running threads in a WebLogic Bea 10.0 M1 server environment. I tried to use WorkManagers for this. Using an own WorkManager allows me to specify my own thread timeout (MaxThreadStuckTime) instead of adjusting the timeout for the whole business application. The resource-ref must be mapped to a JNDI name using the resource-description element of the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml descriptor. I try to figure out how to access / use WorkMangers for days now, and still get this or that as an exception. Very frustrating! Thanks in advance!
