    I have 7 cd drives. Now i am writing the CDs using NTI MEdia Maker. The problem is all the drive have weird name in the writer like HL DVD RW S224 or something. IT is very hard to find which drive is which. Is there any way to define the Name liek Drive 1, Drive 2 so that in the writer the name come up like that so that if some cd fails to write i can find which drive is that

    I have a directory structure as below: Folder > SubFolder1 > FileName1.abc > Filename2.abc > ............. > SubFolder2 > FileName11.abc > Filename12.abc > .............. > .......... etc. I want to rename the files inside the subfolders as: SubFolder1_Filename1.abc SubFolder1_Filename2.abc SubFolder2_Filename11.abc SubFolder2_Filename12.abc i.e. add the folder name at the beginning of the file name with the delimiter "_". The directory structure should remain unchanged. Note: Beginning of file name is same. e.g. in above case File*. I made below Script for /r "PATH" %%G in (.) do ( pushd %%G for %%* in (.) do set MyDir=%%~n* FOR %%v IN (File*.*) DO REN %%v "%MyDir%_%%v" popd ) Problem with the above script is that it is taking only one Subfolder name and placing it to the beginning of file name irrespective of the folder.

    In short I am working with a company that does trade shows... one of their new domain names has the word 'sex' in but completely innocently. EXAMPLE: www. someproductsexpo .com (Being 'some' 'products' 'expo'). The content is completely inoffensive and I do not see there being any other things that would flag either the web or any emails sent from [email protected] as inappropriate.   • How to host a simple website using a domain name I own

    I'm familiar with hosting webapps when I'm doing "the whole shebang" of installing / configuring / setting up Apache/Tomcat/PostreSQL / "coding" the website myself using HTML / JSP / CSS etc. on dedicated servers I'm renting. But in the above case, I'm "owning" the entire stack: from the Debian GNU/Linux dedicated servers to every single file that is served. Now I'd like to do something much simpler and I must admit I don't know what's involved at all. I'd like to host a simple website made of only a few static pages (no database, no nothing) and I'd like it to be accessible from "example.com". What needs to be technically done to have such a thing? How is the DNS supposed to be set up? Note that I do not want to host this on one of my dedicated servers.

    Hi, CASE 1: I have a Ubuntu machine with name midhun.local I can access this in http://midhun.local/svn ... But its can't access from other machines(both Windows and Linux) through this host name. But it works with http://192.168.1.192/svn CASE 2: I have a another machine(windows) having the host-name myname:555 In this case i can access https://myname:555/svn from other windows machines with the same URL. But if am trying to access from the a Linux machine it will not work with the same URL instead of that https://192.1.168.111:555/svn will work. How can I solve the problem.     I'm trying to connect to a SQL instance (default instance) on a machine. When using the IP of the machine it connects to the machine. Using the name of the machine on that machine you are able to establish a connection to the SQL instance but using the machine name on another PC the connection cannot be established. And gives the error A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. ... (Microsoft Server, Error: 10060) The machine that I am trying to establish the connection from can ping the machine with the SQL instance both on the IP and on the name. Why would this be and how can I fix it? Edit: pinging the name does resolve the correct IP. Pinging the FQDN also works correctly.

The only DNS is the ISP's, which resolves Internet names and not local host names. The Windows machines can ping each other by name. The Ubuntu and OS X machines can only ping Windows by IP address (name doesn't work).

    I have registered with dyndns domain for my dynamically changing public ip address to use with iptable rules. On a server I've allowed some ports for this domain in the iptables configuration like the below entries: -A INPUT -s mycompany.dyndns.com -p tcp -m tcp --dport 22 -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -s mycompany.dyndns.com -p tcp -m tcp --dport 3306 -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -s mycompany.dyndns.com -p tcp -m tcp --dport 21 -j ACCEPT But when ever my modem restarts, I couldn't connect to these allowed ports as public ip changes with modem restart and are not updated in the iptables on the server. Is there any option to automatically update iptable rules on server.

So i can connect to server instance 'MichelLaptop' But now i'm trying to connect to my server from outside my network, and the first thing i wonder is: what is the name of the instance? i've made a redirect to my local machine in the DNS of my domain, so i said (this is not the real data) testsql.mydomain.com goes to 190.191.192.193 and when i ping testsql.mydomain.com, i get a response from 190.191.192.193 But what then is the server name?

    I have an Ubuntu box that I use for all sorts of things. One thing I really want to do is redirect a sub domain to a local script. For example thisbit.example.com should actually show the content from localhost/~USER/FAKE.thisbit.example.com/ which is a folder that Apache is running for me which contains a very simple PHP script which implements an offline version of a server script that I am testing against. But example.com should continue to behave normally as should notthisbit.example.com etc. Ideally I need to be able to switch from testing to live with minimal fuss when the time comes.
