  I have recently discovered a website that is a must have for any developer who has struggled with picking the colors for their web site:  http://colorschemedesigner.com/ You get several choices to determine how to specify the colors. This option brings in a complimentary color in various shades along with the main color that you select on the color wheel. You also have the option of specifying various adjustments to the schema. You can make it pastel, more contrast, less contrast, gray tones, etc. You can also view a preview page as a light page or a dark page to see how the colors might be applied.  Once you have everything the way you want it, you can switch over to the final tab and get the color list. Now none of us have an excuse for questionable color combinations.

It's a sharing website - everyone is allowed to download specific content, but I want to make sure nobody knows where all the files are kept, so I've decided to use URL Forwarding, e.g. when someone visits fakesite.com, it returns realsite.com without revealing/redirecting to realsite.com. Question: I don't know how to make this work. Please help me by explaining how to use URL Forwarding! Thanks!

  I followed the procedure mentioned at Installing Ubuntu on a Pre-Installed Windows 8 (64-bit) System (UEFI Supported) on toshiba satellite laptop. also tried the boot-repair and logs @ http://paste.ubuntu.com/6327398/ Its not booting to windows as well as ubuntu. It goes to grub command prompt. When on initial screen it briefly shows error message as failed to open /efi/Microsoft/boot/grubx64. Please advise. EDIT : Secure boot in on and boot mode is UEFI Boot

  I have an large html website on a very old server and I'm attempting to move it to a brand new server running IIS7. I've tried moving the entire site to the WWW directory, but then all my forms return "The HTTP verb POST used to access path is not allowed". Additionally, all the solutions I've found online only work on a page by page basis. Is there a simpler/faster way to migrate a large website containing many forms to IIS7? Here is the specific error message: The HTTP verb POST used to access path '/FormServer/Mig/_vti_bin/shtml.dll/admissions/askseaaggie.htm' is not allowed.

• VMWare Unity Mode with Ubunty 12.10

  This is a very difficult thing to search for, and find an answer to because of the unfortunate choice VMWare and Ubuntu both having something called "Unity". My host operating system is Windows 7 - 64 bit, running VMWare Workstation 9.0.1. I have a virtual machine running Ubuntu 12.10 - 64 bit. When I attempt to put VMWare in "Unity mode", I get the following message: The virtual machine cannot enter Unity mode because: - Unity is not supported on the guest operating system. From the VMWare site, there is nothing listed that says that Ubuntu is not supported for this... and I have installed the latest vmware-tools on the guest operating system. It seems like a lot of people have had this issue, but I haven't seen a good resolution to it yet. Does anyone know how to get Unity mode working with Ubuntu?

• How can I make my generic comparer (IComparer) handle nulls? [closed]

  Hi, I'm trying to write a generic object comparer for sorting, but I have noticed it does not handle the instance where one of the values it's comparing is null. When an object is null, I want it to treat it the same as the empty string. I've tried setting the null values to String.Empty but then I get an error of "Object must be of type String" when calling CompareTo() on it. public int Compare(T x, T y) { PropertyInfo propertyInfo = typeof(T).GetProperty(sortExpression); IComparable obj1 = (IComparable)propertyInfo.GetValue(x, null); IComparable obj2 = (IComparable)propertyInfo.GetValue(y, null); if (obj1 == null) obj1 = String.Empty; // This doesn't work! if (obj2 == null) obj2 = String.Empty; // This doesn't work! if (SortDirection == SortDirection.Ascending) return obj1.CompareTo(obj2); else return obj2.CompareTo(obj1); } I'm pretty stuck with this now! • Is there a data structure for this type of list/map?

  Perhaps there's a name for what I want, but I'm not aware of it. I need something similar to a LinkedHashMap in Java, but where it returns the 'previous' value if there's no value at the specified key. That is, I have a list of objects stored by an integer key (which is in units of time in my case): ; key->value 10->A 15->B 20->C So, if I were to query for a value for key 0-9, it would return null. The special part is if I queried for something 10 <= i <= 14 it would return A. Or, for i = 20, it would return C. Is there a data structure for this?

From the famous book "Computer Architecture" by Hennessay which usually is recommended around here: Recent implementations of the x86 architecture actually translate x86 instruction into simple operation that look like MIPS instuctions.... Page 335. What does this mean specifically? Can you show me an example?

• Collision detection problem in XNA

  I'm having two problems with my collision detection in XNA. There are two boxes, the red box represents a player and the blue box represents a wall. The first problem is when the player moves to the upper side or bottom side of the wall and collides with it, and then try to go to the left or right, the player will just jump in the opposite direction as seen in the video. However if I go to the right side or the left side of the wall and try to go up or down the player will smoothly go up or down without jumping. The second problem is that when I collide with the box and my key is still pressed down the blue box goes half way through red box and and goes back out and it keeps doing that until I stop pressing the keyboard. its not very clear on the video but the keeps going in and out really fast until I stop pressing the key. • How do you make a bootable usb stick on OSX with a corrupted harddrive`?

  I cant access the desktop because my harddrive is corrupted. Therefore I want to make a bootable USB stick so i can transfer all of my important files to my External HD. Problem is that Im stuck on Step 3 --- http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/create-a-usb-stick-on-mac-osx . Im not sure of what i should change this to: hdiutil convert -format UDRW -o ~/path/to/target.img ~/path/to/ubuntu.iso It says convert failed - No such file or directory. Obviously the problem is that i dont know the path to the USB, maybe you know how to find out? Please help me. Thanks. ps. Ive downloaded the ubuntu desktop amd64+mac.

  I have migrated a VS2008 ASP.NET MVC solution to VS2010/MVC2/.NET 4.0 The solution builds locally and all unit tests pass. Our TFS server is still TFS2008 and I am having problems getting the CI build to pass. The projects all build successfully, the unit tests all run and pass but the Running Tests item fails.   I'm fairly new to using JSON objects and I'm kinda stuck. I'm building a map editor and to put more tiles on the map, i'll have to add values to this json object. • Implementing rounded corners on slide down navigation menu

  I am working on the slide down menu you can see here. I have rounded corners on both ul#navigation and ul.subnavigation. When the submenu slides down it is possible to see the border at the bottom of ul.subnavigation overlap with the content of ul#navigation, when I would like it to slide down smoothly, without the 'flicker'. I am aware that this issue is caused by the rounded corners. I need ul.subnavigation to cover the rounded corners at the bottom of ul#navigation when the menu drops down, without seeing the double border-bottom issue. I hope this is clear! Code is below. • Why does my mail get marked as spam?

  I Have the server "afspraakmanager.be". It matches everything not to be a spam server.(it isn't by the way): it has reverse dns, spf,dkim,... . But hotmail marks it as spam. • How to get decent WiFi despite a virtual Faraday cage

  One of my clients is the local branch of an international airline. They have a small office in the secured area behind the ticket counters, and timeshare space at the ticket counter. I need to add a ticket printer out front, which I cannot (for contract/liability reasons) attach to the shared computer at the counter; the only workable solution seems to be to put the printer and its attached computer on a cart and connect to the office's network via WiFi. So far, no problem - right? Well, the terminal has been getting a facelift, which - among other things - includes decorative stainless-steel panels along the wall behind the ticket counters. This paneling acts as a seriously effective barrier to WiFi! The office's WiFi router - a brand-new D-Link DIR-815, dual-band 802.11n - is just on the other side of the pictured wall, and twenty feet or so to the right. And yet the only way I can connect AT ALL on this side of the wall is to stick the USB adapter (on the end of an extension cable) right into the crack between panels... and even then I can only see the 5GHz network, and that very weakly. Has anyone else had experience with this sort of misguided interior decoration? Any ideas on how I can improve reception on the other side of the barrier? (Needless to say, physical modifications of the environment - tempting though they might be - are strictly no-go.)

• Can I use this power supply + case combination without causing problems?

  I am putting together a computer with a Antec P180 case and a Thermaltake TR2 RX 650 W power supply. The problem is that the Antec P180 case has a separate compartment for the power supply. With an opening for the on/off switch + ac connector to one side, a wall with a small hole for cables to route through on top, a wall on the bottom, and on the other side a fan which pushes air from the hard drive compartment to the power supply compartment. I think the design of the case assumes the power supplies fan is on the side next to the on/off switch, but the fan on the power supply I have is on top, which makes me worry about overheating the power supply. There is about half an inch between the top of the power supply and the wall and the other fan should keep air flowing to push out the air that the power supply pushes upwards. Do you think this setup should work, or should I go get another power supply? Thanks!! PS: This computer will be running an Ubuntu server, so it will always be on, but the rest of the components shouldn't be generating as much heat as they would on say a gaming machine.

• Network connection keeps dropping - bad hardware?

  Hello all, I've into a bit of a wall with a client of mine. In an office of 20 people, he is the only one who experiences broken connections to his mapped network drives. I have everyone set up with about 6 mapped drives, all pointing to the same server (no DFS), and everyone else can access them lightning fast. The environment consists of a mix of Windows 7 and XP machines, all 32-bit. The server holding the data everyone is mapping to is running on Server 2008 R2, and is a domain controller. We recently swapped out their old 10/100 switch for a shiny new Dell PowerConnect gigabit switch. We have also replaced an old dying Sonicwall with a shiny new one. Everything is running on an ESX host except for the DC, where everyone is getting data from. In my client's office, we have done the following: Swapped out his computer (Win7 and XP box) Swapped out the desktop switch in his office Removed the desktop switch in his office Changed out the network cable going to the wall Ran 'net config server /autodisconnect:-1' on the server Disabled remote differential compression on his current Win7 box When we swapped out his network cable, everything seemed fine for about 4 days. Normally I would get a phone call a couple times per day letting me know that Outlook has crashed (there is a 9GB PST living on the server he is always connected to), or that his software he is running from his L drive has crashed. I almost thought I had this solved, but after we rebooted the DC the other night he all of a sudden couldn't stay connected to his mapped network drives for more than 10 minutes. When I ran 'net use' from the command prompt, it listed all the network drives where were randomly in a state of 'OK', 'Disconnected', or 'Reconnecting'. What else should I try? Maybe there is bad wiring in the wall, patch panel, or a bad port in the new switch I have in the server room?
