  • nginx proxy to different path

    I've read through the documentation for nginx's HttpProxyModule, but I can't figure this out: I want it so that if someone visits, for example http://ss.example.com/1339850978, nginx will proxy them http://dl.dropbox.com/u/xxxxx/screenshots/1339850978.png. If I was to just use this line in my config file: proxy_pass http://dl.dropbox.com/u/xxxxx/screenshots/;, then they would have to append the .png themselves. tia, David.

  • ClearOS transparent firewall and web proxy mode possible?

    In other firewall software packages I have seen the ability and am hoping it is possible with ClearOS to put it in to transparent or bridged mode where the device sits physically between the client workstations and the internet router, but is the client workstation has the internet router address as it's gateway, not the clearos machine. The client workstation would also not have to enter an http proxy address as that would be transparent. Is this possible and how do you configure ClearOS this way? Thanks!

  • Overseas proxy makes Google Chrome think I am in Germany or Netherlands

    I am in the UK and my firm has an outsourced webscanning service which routes our traffic through either Germany or The Netherlands. Whenever I do a search using Chrome's Address Bar I get either the .de or .nl results page. Is there any way to force Chrome to use the .co.uk ignoring the location it thinks I am in? Internet access is very locked down so alternate proxy suggestions will probably not work.

  • How to make firefox proxy authentication fail silently?

    At work, certain protocols are blocked, and websites that I visit try to access these protocols with Javascript. These sites work fine when these requests fail (except for whatever it's trying to do with the requests), but I have to click cancel on a multitude of proxy authentication dialogs. What I want to do is just have firefox silently ignore this, so I can use the website without having to click cancel 8 times on every action I make (this includes all the stack overflow style sites which is trying to make requests with the ws: protocol).

    I am looking for a smtp proxy to install on our gateway which should monitor outgoing smtp traffic to identify the source of recently occuring spam attacks from our network. It would be enough if this could log all outgoing mails, no actual filtering must be done as I'm going to do this manually. Also, is it possible to monitor smtps ports 465 and 587 or is it necessary to completely block these ports to stop spam?

  • Best reverse proxy for IIS 6?

    I want to set up a reverse proxy from one of our intranet IIS sites to point to another tomcat server. Eg, i want the user to browse to 'http://our-iis-server/friendly-url' and for it to reverse proxy to 'http://our-tomcat-server/ugly-url'. What would be the best solution for this? I've narrowed it down to three options: http://www.managedfusion.com/products/url-rewriter/documentation.aspx http://www.isapirewrite.com/ http://www.codeplex.com/IIRF Also, can these tools rewrite the links in the html? Eg, if the tomcat server's html has something like 'a href = http://our-tomcat-server/ugly-url/product/widget' i would need it to change to 'a href = http://our-iis-server/friendly-url/product/widget' Thanks in advance.   • nginx : backend https, proxy_pass shows ip

    I am using nginx as a reverse proxy listening at port 80 (http). I am using proxy_pass to forward requests to backend http and https servers. Everything works fine for my http server but when I try to reach the https server through nginx reverse proxy the ip of the https server is shown in the client's web browser. I want the uri of the nginx server to be shown instead of the https backend server's ip (once again, this works fine with the http server but not for the https server).     Assuming a decent understanding of assembly on common CPU architectures (eg: x86), how can one explore a potential path (career, fun and profit, etc) into the field of reverse engineering? There is so little educational guides out there so it is difficult to understand what potential uses this has today (eg: is searching for buffer overflow exploits still common, or do stack monitoring programs make this obselete?). I am not looking for any step by step program, just some relevant information such as tips on how to efficiently find a specific area of a program. Basic things in the trade. As well as what it is currently being used for today. So to recap, what current uses does reverse engineering yield today? And how can one find some basic information on how to learn the trade (again it doesn't have to be step-by-step, just anything which can through a clue would be helpful).

    Lately I've been pondering on how a specific beloved old game actually works. I had some mild progress, but then a friend pointed out that if I really loved the game and appreciate it, I wouldn't try to reverse-engineer it. Note that the game is long considered an abandonware and is offerd for download publicly in lawful game sites, and I have no commercial / other large scale intentions - just to learn and "mess around" with it. Did I miss something? Is there an ethical taboo regarding reverse-engeneering? Alternatively, is there a legal issue?

    I want to configure a proxy which can rotate the IP's on session basis. Let me explain what I have done so far and what is exact requirement. I installed 3 proxy configured it to listen on 10 Public interfaces which is working fine. But my requirement is if any user access the internet, IP which will go out should be changed for every new session. Lets say my prxy IP's are from 10.20.30.5-14. When an user opens google.com it will hit google webserver with 10.20.30.5 IP and now if same user opens up yahoo.com then, it should it with 10.20.30.6 or any ip b/w 6 to 14. Is this possible?
