  • Login-time quota for VPN users

    I have configured Routing and Remote Access Service in Windows Server 2003 as the VPN server. VPN users are defined in Active Directory which is running on this server too. How i can configure the server to give each user a limited download size (for example 1GB) and does not authenticate them when they exceeds their download quota. The VPN server should also disconnect the users that reach their quota. Update: Apparently a third-party RADIUS server could provide this feature. One solution I have found is TekRADIUS but it is commercial. FreeRADIUS is a open-source free RADIUS server but I am not sure if it could these kind of features.

  • VPN stuck on Verifying Username and Password

    I'm building a new machine and everything is working correctly, except that I can't log on to my VPN. It hangs at the "Verifying username and password..." step, then returns after about 30 seconds claiming Error 721. I have another machine sitting next to this one with the VPN connection configured exactly the same, connecting just fine over the same wifi network, so I'm convinced that there is no server or firewall problem. The VPN works fine. This machine simply can't connect to it given the correct credentials and configuration. Any suggestions?

  • VPN on PC vs Mac

    I am trying to connect to a VPN from my home computer, as opposed to my work computer which already has the network info set up. I have received instructions on connecting from a mac, but since I don't have that I'm trying to do the equivalent on my PC. I know the: server group name secret and my own login account and password Using the Windows 7 VPN, there's space for: Internet address destination name user name password domain (optional) I'm trying to determine what's what. I assume the internet address is the server. I've tried using the "secret" as the Password, b/c i'd think the first part is connecting to the VPN as opposed to logging in. It still wants a user name though. I tried mine, I tried the "group name". I would appreciate your help with this. Thanks!

  • Cisco VPN Client dropping connection

    Using Windows XP and Cisco VPN client version 5.0.4.xxx to connect to a remote customer site. We are able to establish the connection and start an RDP session, but within 1-2 minutes the connection drops and the VPN connection disconnects. The PC making the connection is on a DMZ which is NATed to a public IP address. If we move the PC directly onto the internet without being on the DMZ the connection works and we don't encounter any disconnects. We use a PIX 515E running 7.2.4 and don't have any problems with similar setups connecting to other customer sites from the DMZ. The VPN setup on the client side is pretty basic, using IPSec over TCP port 10000. Not sure what device they are using on the peer, but my guess would be an ASA. Any idea as to what the problem would be? Below is the logs from the VPN client when the problem occurs.     I am facing issues in setting up VPN connection(IKEv1) using iPhone (Defult Cisco VPN client) and Strongswan 4.5.0 server. The Strongswan server is running on Ubuntu Linux, which is connected to some wifi hotspot. This is the guide which was used. I generated CA, server and client certificate, with the only difference mentioned below. “While generating server certificate, as per link CN=vpn.strongswan.org instead of this I changed CN name to CN=192.168.43.212.” Once certificates are generated, following (clientCert.p12 and caCert.pem) are sent to mobile via mail and installed on iphone. After installation I notice that certificates are considered as trusted also. Below are the ip addresses assigned to various interfaces Linux server wlan0 interface ip where server is running: 192.168.43.212 Iphone eth0 interface ip address: 192.168.43.72. iphone is also attached with the same wifi hotspot. Below is the snapshot of client configurations.   • Connect to VPN from Mac on Time Capsule network

    I have a few clients on my network that can connect to my work VPN (Windows PPTP) when they are not on my home network. On my home network (Cable Modem with Time Capsule providing Wifi), it fails very early -- looks like it can't even establish a connection. Logs just say that it failed -- even verbose logs don't have much: I redacted the host and IP from this log, but I can ping it. The only clue I have seen in other forums is to set the NAT default host on the Time Capsule -- I set this to the IP that my mac got over DHCP. I made sure that my Mac gets a different range of IP addresses that it would get if it connected to the VPN (192.168.1.x vs. 10.0.0.x). Not using any VPN client -- just Network System Preferences. It has worked in the past -- but it was a while ago, so I can't pinpoint a change. My sysadmin doesn't even see incoming connections to the VPN (nothing logged about me when I connect). Looking for any diagnostic advice at all

    I have a fresh new Windows Server 2008 R2 Domain Setup and a ForeFront TMG installation. Both of them are newly installed. I enabled VPN client access and configured address assignment method. Now when I try to connect to VPN over internet (with Windows 7 client) I receive Error 619 stating that the credentials are wrong. Of course credentials are not wrong, something else is wrong here. Any help?

    I'm trying to configure the Snow Leopard's VPN on demand service without success I've tried the following domain+configuration pairs but none of them have worked: domain.net default *.domain.net default My goal is that each time I go to www.domain.net with Safari, ssh server1.domain.net or everything else on this domain.net the connection will be established trough the VPN ! When I connect a Windows XP laptop via PPTP vpn to our Windows 2003 Server, the DNS Server order is correct: 192.168.8.3 208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220 But when I connect a Windows 7 laptop via PPTP VPN to our Windows 2003 Server, the DNS order is incorrect: 208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220 192.168.8.3 What do I need to do on our Windows 2003 Server to fix this so the when I do a ping, it will work correctly?

  • VPN still working after rebooting without client - DrayTek client shows "No Connection"

    My home network is a simple router + pc's setup, nothing fancy - the router has DHCP enabled for 192.168.0.X (255.255.255.0) and my PC picks up the address 192.168.0.82. There are no devices on my local lan in the 192.168.1.x range. On my pc i have the DrayTek VPN client, and a company i do some work for has a DrayTek Vigor router. The VPN client establishes a VPN to that remote company using an IPSec Tunnel (PreShared Key - no encryption) Last night i shut down my pc with the VPN tunnel still connected, when i turned my computer on this morning i accidentally clicked an RDP shortcut to 192.168.1.2 (a host in the remote company) and to my amazement it connected?!? My Question: Can an IPSec tunnel stay up some how after a reboot without use of the VPN client? (well, i can clearly see that it can) - where in windows is there visibility of this? how does my machine know where to route the packets? I appreciate any insights & thoughts!

    Hi, I have a safe office 500 box at my edge. (checkpoint's hardware firewall) I'm trying to connect to another office VPN using windows 7 pptp connection. It fails (saying something about enabling GRE). (after authenticating, hangs for a while, than give the error message.) Using the same computer with direct internet access (not behind the firewalls) works fine and I get connected. how do I setup the safe office to enable me to use vpn (pptp) out connections.

  • VPN Router drops connections

    We are using a Netgear VPN Firewall Router FVS318v3.. We have a DSL connection here at the office, and my users complain of the connection dropping, or locking up on their end.. Latest firmware is installed, rebooting the router doesn't help, no other internet connectivity issues reported anywhere else (ie., no other internet connection problems here, or at their end, except when connecting to the VPN..) Is there anything else I can check to pinpoint this problem? TIA!!!
