I really like how http://www.honorshaven.com/ looks printed (to pdf). I've looked through the source to try to figure out how they did it (my navigation always turns into ugly bullet lists on print...) -- and I'm at a loss. Anyone know? Any help would be awesome!
Thanks,
Martin
I built some cross fade rollovers in IE7 using this single image technique:
http://jqueryfordesigners.com/image-cross-fade-transition/
It works by placing the rollover image in the background and fading the original image state when the user rollovers the image. IE7 hates it. The rollover state shows up directly below the original image.
You can check it out here:
http://hardtopdepot.com/dev/inner.html
It should be pretty obvious in IE7 but the add to cart buttons are suppossed to be Jquery rollovers. I am by no means a JS expert so Im not sure how to go about solving this problem, any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks-
It seems an html tag can't be inserted in the option tag. Say
<option><em>somewords<\em><\option>
Is there other ways to style the "someword", without styling the option tag?
I am using the superfish plugin for jquery here: clicky
it works fine in all modern browsers FF,Safari, Chrome, IE8
but it seems like the z-index is not working in ie6 and 7
you can see the menu is appearing, but being cut off by the elements below it.
I have tried adding a z-index everywhere I can think of but nothing seems to fix this.
How can I fix this?
Thanks!!!
In my application i am using t:commandSortHeader for sorting purpose, is it possible to change the default arrow thats is shown to some other image using styleClass attributes. If possible how to do that. Kindly help.
Hi I'm using grails navigation plugin and when it generates menus it put the sub navigation underneath the main menu, but i'm making my menu a vertical menu so i don't want the sub menu under the whole menu i want it under the active element.
Example: this is how it generate the menu and sub menu
<ul class="mainmenu">
<li>item1</li>
<li>item2</li>
<li>item3</li>
</ul>
<ul class="submenu">
<li>item1</li>
<li>item2</li>
<li>item3</li>
</ul>
What i want is:
<ul class="mainmenu">
<li>item1
<ul class="submenu">
<li>item1</li>
<li>item2</li>
<li>item3</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>item2</li>
<li>item3</li>
</ul>
Since i don't know of a way to make grails nav plugin do this i guess i'll have to make jquery do it after it's generated. Any ideas?
Hi
I have a simple link in a menu
<a id="Home" href="Amico-Bio-Home-Page"></a>
to which i apply the following style
#Home{
background-image:url(../Images/Menu/home.png);
background-repeat:no-repeat;
border:none;
display:block;
height:70px;
text-decoration:none;
width:78px;
float:left;
padding:0 7px;
}
#Home:hover {
background-image: url(../Images/Menu/homeOn.png);
}
when i go over the link the images are swapped.
while swapping the images the link disappear for an instant.
Do you know any way to avoid it?
thanks
I using Ajax ModalPopupExtender but problem with this is menu in appication is display over the ModalPopupExtender. I also set z-index=1 for ModalPopupExtender and z-index=100 for but problem not solved.
Specifically, how do I predict/calculate the effect any of the browsers' zoom will have, for example, on width:950px? Are there any tools I can use to determine the new widths?
edit:
If I have a 950px div that is visually rendered 875px in, say, chrome, I could say chrome reduces fixed widths by approx. 92.1% after one crtl-. (950*.921= approx .875).
I am trying to make my own website and it was coming along quite nicely. It looked beautiful in Firefox when opened and worked wonderfully. But then I run it in any other browser and it does not work. How can I fix this? Interner Explorer especially hates it =[
You just got to see it to know what I'm talking about so here is the link:

Please give solutions that don't involve JavaScript.
Hi all,
look at http://ballpointradio.com/new/index.php. Do you see above the Recent Tracks there's sort of padding? How do I get rid of this?
Thanks,
Sam.
I have a web site written using iUI so it is formatted well for iDevices. Is there a way to disable rotation of the page when the device is rotated? In other words, if somebody rotates the device, I would still want the page to stay in portrait mode.
This is the code.
I can't apply display:none;
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#LeftNav li.navCatHead").not(":first").siblings("li").hide().end().end().first().addClass("open");
});
Is use of position:fixed inside relative at some places ,Where content is not going to change, but are ok for Print, screen readers and mobile phone users?
or float is still better if we need good compatibility at Screen, print and for screen reader and mobile users.

I am having the hardest time trying to figure out why my last li item is being pushed to the bottom in IE. I have the width, height set for the container. The li has padding/margin to 0. Li is float left. Still being pushed down. Seeking a Guru to help a n00b here.
Hi I've cross browser fixed a site on all thinkable PC browsers, including Safari.
Now my smart ass designer sent me a screen shot of the whole layout collapsing on mac.
I have an idea how to solve it (reduce the margin on an element by a few pix), but i don't know how to target Safari only, preferably Safari mac only.
What's the best way to do this?
How does do you auto resize a large image to fit a smaller width div container?
Example can be seen here on stackoverflow.com - when an image is inserted onto the editor panel and it is too large for display, the image is automatically resized.
I have this structure on form,
<input type="test" value="" id="username" />
<span class="input-value">John Smith</span>
<a href="#" class="fill-input">Fill Input</a>
when user click on the Fill Input ,
the data from span which has class input-value will be added to value, after clicking a tag the code should be look like this,
<input type="test" value="john Smith" id="username" />
<span class="input-value">John Smith</span>
<a href="#" class="fill-input">Fill Input</a>
there are many forms element/input on the single page.
thanks!
Hi, I am fairly new to all this.
I am trying to make a simple photo viewer with javascript or anything easy to alter.
I just want a next and prev. button to take you between photos. Click next and next photo shows. Just that simple. I have a flash version but I would like to avoid using flash.
I've been doing it the long way by making multiple pages, one for each photo and a button that repeats. I know there must be a better way but I just can't seem to figure it out.
Please help

Playing with jQuery and upon pressing "More" on the top left, it pushes down the "Brown" layer. How can I keep the brown layer steady? It happens in Chrome, but not Firefox.
