  • Getting logging.debug() to work on Google App Engine/Python

    I'm just getting started on building a Python app for Google App Engine. In the localhost environment I'm trying to send debug info to the GoogleAppEngineLauncher Log Console via logging.debug(), but it isn't showing up. However, anything sent through, say, logging.info() or logging.error() does show up. I've tried a logging.basicConfig(level=logging.DEBUG) before the logging.debug(), but to no avail. What am I missing?

  • Eclipse getResourceAsStream returning null

    I cannot get getResourceAsStream to find a file. I have put the file in the top level dir, target dir, etc, etc and have tried it with a "/" in front as well. Everytime it returns null. Any suggestions ?   • How to make emacs properly indent if-then-else construct in elisp

    When I indent if-then-else construct in emacs lisp, the else block doesn't indent properly. What I get is: (defun swank-clojure-decygwinify (path) "Convert path from CYGWIN UNIX style to Windows style" (if (swank-clojure-cygwin) (replace-regexp-in-string "\n" "" (shell-command-to-string (concat "cygpath -w " path))) (path))) where else form is not indented at the same level as the then form. Is there an obvious way to fix this?

  • Adding ObsoleteAttribute to (or otherwise greylisting) Types not under my control?

    Is there a way to somehow mark Types I do not control as Obsolete? Basically I would like to add ObsoleteAttribute to types I do not want to use in my .net Project (i.e., SerializableAttribute) I believe I can do something like that with FxCop, but ideally I would like to have the compiler already generate warnings for "greylisted" Types? This should be on a Per-Project level, but sadly "Extension Attributes" don't exist, and adding them at Runtime is too late for ObsoleteAttribute...

Is it simply Upgrade the Database? I think I am being thrown off as there is no specific actor/customer and that the customer is the IT department.

  • When using delegates, need better way to do sequential processing

    I have a class WebServiceCaller that uses NSURLConnection to make asynchronous calls to a web service. The class provides a delegate property and when the web service call is done, it calls a method webServiceDoneWithXXX on the delegate. There are several web service methods that can be called, two of which are say GetSummary and GetList. The classes that use WebServiceCaller initially need both the summary and list so they are written like this: -(void)getAllData { [webServiceCaller getSummary]; } -(void)webServiceDoneWithGetSummary { [webServiceCaller getList]; } -(void)webServiceDoneWithGetList { ... } This works but there are at least two problems: The calls are split across delegate methods so it's hard to see the sequence at a glance but more important it's hard to control or modify the sequence. Sometimes I want to call just GetSummary and not also GetList so I would then have to use an ugly class-level state variable that tells webServiceDoneWithGetSummary whether to call GetList or not. Assume that GetList cannot be done until GetSummary completes and returns some data which is used as input to GetList. Is there a better way to handle this and still get asynchronous calls? Update based on Matt Long's answer: Using notifications instead of a delegate, it looks like I can solve problem #2 by setting a different selector depending on whether I want the full sequence (GetSummary+GetList) or just GetSummary. Both observers would still use the same notification name when calling GetSummary.   • How do I set libavcodec to use 4:2:2 chroma when encoding MPEG-2 4:2:2 profile?

    I have a project using libavcodec (ffmpeg). I'm using it to encode MPEG-2 video at 4:2:2 Profile, Main Level. I have the pixel format PIX_FMT_YUV422P selected in the AVCodecContext, however the video output I'm getting has all the colours wrong, and looks to me like the encoder is incorrectly reading the buffers as though it thinks it is 4:2:0 chroma rather than 4:2:2.   • Conditional action based on whether any file in a directory has a ctime newer than X

    I would like to run a backup job on a directory tree from a bash script if any of the files have been modified in the last 30 minutes. I think I can hack together something using find with the -ctime flag, but I'm sure there is a standard way to examine a directory for changes. I know that I can inspect the ctime of the top level directory to see if files were added, but I need to be able to see changes also. FWIW, I am using duplicity to backup directories to S3.

  • NuGet Update Error?

    Using the NuGet package manager dialog at the solution level in the normal course of updating a package reference once the process is complete there is a green tick on the item and the update button disappears. However, with certain of my packages the update process completes, as far as I can tell successfully, but no green tick and the update button remains. Press it again and the next dialog shows that no projects require an update for that package. Am I missing something here or is this a bug?

    I'm not sure if this is possible, and I'm quite new to using assemblies in C#.NET. What I would like to do is to create an instance of a class when supplied the string name of that class. Something like this: using MyAssembly; namespace MyNameSpace { Class MyClass { int MyValue1; int MyValue2; public MyClass(string myTypeName) { foreach(Type type in MyAssembly) { if((string)type == myTypeName) { //create a new instance of the type } } AssignInitialValues(//the type created above) } //Here I use an abstract type which the type above inherits from private void AssignInitialValues(AbstractType myClass) { this.value1 = myClass.value1; this.value2 = myClass.value2; } } } Obviously you cannot compare strings to types but it illustrates what I'm trying to do: create a type from a supplied string. Any thoughts? UPDATE: After looking through several articles on SO I came across this: http://stackoverflow.com/a/1632609/360627 Making the AbstractTypeclass public solved the issue of inconsistent accessibility. The new compiler error is this: Cannot convert type 'System.Runtime.Remoting.ObjectHandle' to 'MyAssembly.AbstractType' The line it references is this one: var myObject = (AbstractType) Activator.CreateInstance(null, myTypeName); Using .Unwrap() get's me past this error and I think it's the right way to do it (uncertain). However, when running the program I then get a TypeLoadException when this code is called. TypeLoadException: Could not load type ‘AbstractType’ from assembly ‘MyNameSpace'... Right away I can spot that the type its looking for is correct but the assembly it's looking in is wrong. Looking up the Activator.CreateInstance(String, String) method revealed that the null as the first argument means that the method will look in the executing assembly. This is contrary to the required behavior as in the original post. I've tried using MyAssembly as the first argument but this produces the error: 'MyAssembly' is a 'namespace' but is used like a 'variable' Any thoughts on how to fix this?

  • Constructor versus setter injection

    Hi, I'm currently designing an API where I wish to allow configuration via a variety of methods. One method is via an XML configuration schema and another method is through an API that I wish to play nicely with Spring. My XML schema parsing code was previously hidden and therefore the only concern was for it to work but now I wish to build a public API and I'm quite concerned about best-practice. It seems that many favor javabean type PoJo's with default zero parameter constructors and then setter injection. The problem I am trying to tackle is that some setter methods implementations are dependent on other setter methods being called before them in sequence. I could write anal setters that will tolerate themselves being called in many orders but that will not solve the problem of a user forgetting to set the appropriate setter and therefore the bean being in an incomplete state. The only solution I can think of is to forget about the objects being 'beans' and enforce the required parameters via constructor injection. An example of this is in the default setting of the id of a component based on the id of the parent components. Using the setter type of injection, then the setters will have different behavior based on the order of the calling of the setters. In this case, would you agree, that a constructor taking a reference to the parent is better and dropping the parent setter method from the interface entirely?
