  • Is there a remote desktop management tool that I can email to people?

    I often need to remotely manage PC and Macs for desktop support. I'm after a remote desktop management support tool that I could email (or send a url) that the customer could click on (or run) and I could then remotely manage their PC/Mac A tool that could work on both operating systems would be great but not mandatory (a separate tool for both/either will suffice) A tool that has an iPhone App would be fantastic too but this would just be very much a 'wish list' Looking forward to your suggestion!

  • Mercurial not receiving push

    I have a mercurial web-frontend (hgwebdir.cgi) installed on a server, and an installation of nginx was installed in front of it as a reverse proxy to the web-frontend as my friend suggested. However, whenever a large changeset is pushed (via a script), it would fail. I found an issue ticket @google-code that describe similar problem, and there is a solution that says (#39) So the server side answer is: don't send the 401 back early. Be as slow/dumb as 'hg serve' and make the hg client send the bundle twice. How do I do that? Some servers refuse the BODY, simplying closing the pipe from the client and causing Mercurial to fail. Some, like Apache (at least the way I configure it, and that could be part of the problem) and nginx (they way BitBucket.org configures it), accept the BODY, though it may take a few retries. Bottom line: if Mercurial doesn't fail the push, it sends the changeset data at least once to a server that has already told it it lacks credentials (more on this at Blame). Assuming Mercurial is still running, it resends the "unbundle" request and data, this time with authentication. Finally, Apache accepts the data successfully. Nginx, OTOH, at least under BitBucket's configuration, seems to reassemble the previous body (the one that lacked authentication) and somehow keep Mercurial from re-sending the whole body.

  • Apache mod_proxy vs mod_rewrite

    What is the difference between using mod_proxy and mod_rewrite? I have a requirement to send certain url patterns through the tomcat, which runs on the same host but under port 8080. I know this is something for mod_proxy, but I"m wondering why I can't just use mod_rewrite, or what the difference is? Probably has to do w/ reverse proxy, and also when in the pipeline it gets handled? Thanks.

I'm not good at PowerPoint and creating PowerPoint is not part of my competitive advantage.     Hi Guys I asked Skype team if they have a corporate instant messenger, but they didn't give me a straight answer. My company wants employees to send message and files to each other, just like Skype or Windows Live Messenger. The bottom line here is: they don't want people to contact internet users. Only employees would be possible contacts. Is there any product like this? I think would be necessary a corporate server for this solution?

    I need to quickly send messages with a little variation in IRC (ie, irc commands). On windows/mirc, I can just click up and the chat input will fill with my previous message. I'm currently using Adium, but it doesn't have this basic feature? Does anyone know how I can get this, or perhaps suggest a different client. Thanks.

    I've installed OpenSUSE on my server and want to set ssh to log every command, which is send to system over it. I've found this in my sshd_config: # Logging # obsoletes QuietMode and FascistLogging #SyslogFacility AUTH #LogLevel INFO I guess that both of those directives has to be uncommented, but I'd like to log every command, not only authorization (login/logout via SSH). I just want to know, if someone breaks into my system, what did he do.

    Hi, I was wondering if it is possible, in Exchange server 2010, to disable a mailbox account, lets call it mailuser and if anyone sends a E-mail for [email protected] then it will send a mail back with some sort of standard "This E-mail is no longer in use. Please write to [email protected] instead" mail. I know I can create an "out-of-office" reply from the users outlook, but it would be so much faster to do it within the exchange server.   • How do I permanently delete e-mail messages in the sendmail queue and keep them from coming back?

    I have a pretty annoying problem here. I have been testing an application and have created some test e-mails to bogus e-mail addresses (not to mention that my server isn't really set up to send e-mail anyway). Of course, sendmail is not able to send these messages and they have been getting stuck in the sendmail queue. I want to manually delete the messages that have been building up in the queue instead of waiting the 5 days that sendmail usually takes to stop retrying. I am using Ubuntu 10.04 and /var/spool/mqueue/ is the directory in which every how-to I have read says the e-mails that are queued up are kept. When I delete the files in this directory, sendmail stops trying to process the e-mails until what appears to be a cron script runs and re-populates this directory with the messages I don't want sent.     Hi, I finally manage to get mail working with ehcp on an ubuntu server. I can get and send email from the webmail, but I can't seems to be able to access the pop3. I can telnet to the pop3 (server?) but my identification are rejected. Apparently the pop3 server is courier which seems to be configured like it should. Someone has any idea about this ?     I have a mailbox that receives bounces as well as normal email (the latter includes messages from automated services). I want to filter out the bounces and forward them to another mailbox. Assume I cannot change the envelope return path in email I send. Is “null return path” a reliable criterion to tell bounces from normal mail? Roughly how many false positives and false negatives can I expect if I apply it?

    I have 11 email accounts (work etc). When I'm creating a new message, the "from:" field is a dropdown list of my email accounts I wish to send the email from. They are in the order of how I setup my accounts initially, frustrating in hindsight, having not known how I create my accounts (what order) would be a convenience issue down the road. So, does anyone know how to modify the sort order of mail accounts?
