• Servlet Session behavior and Session.invalidate

  Suppose I have a web app with a servlet defined in web.xml. Then I deploy it on Tomcat. Then I open my browser and go to the link to this servlet, it is invoked. Then I close my browser window. How Session behaves ? How is it created, destroyed in this case? if this servlet is "detached" from all the web app, and gets parameters only using post & get, so it does not need Session at all, should one use Session.invalidate at the end of doGet(), doPost() ?

  I have an encrypted SQL Server stored proc that I run with (or the vb .net equivalent code of): declare @p4 nvarchar(100) set @p4=NULL declare @p5 bigint set @p5=NULL exec AA_PAY_BACS_EXPORT_RETRIEVE_S @PS_UserId=N'ADMN', @PS_Department=N'', @PS_PayFrequency=2, @PS_ErrorDescription=@p4 output select @p4, @p5 this returns 2 datasets and the output parameters for the results, the datasets are made up of various table joins etc, one holds the header record and one the detail records. I need to get the 2 datasets into a structure in VB .net (e.g. linq, sqldatareader, typed datasets) so that I can code with them, I don't know what tables any of this comes from and there are alot of them Whooopeee!!! I came close using Linq to SQL and IMultipleResults but got frustrated when I had to recode it every time I made a change to the designer file. My feelings are that there must be a simple way to do this, any ideas?

• Java: how to get mercurial current changeset number for use in program

  I've recently started using mercurial for version control in a Java project. When I run my program, the input parameters it has used to produce certain a output, are written to a specific file. It would be nice if I could add the current mercurial changeset number (indicating the version of my program) to that output file as well. What would be the easiest way to do so on Windows? I could write a simple Java parser to fetch the output of the first line of the hg log -l 1 command, but perhaps there is an easier way (i.e., less code lines)?

  I have an assignment where i need to do feasibility study on two of my approaches and find optimized one. There are two packages A and B User input is gathered in A and then sent to B for execution. Now my approaches are 1. Call B methods from package A one by one. 2. Create a common method in B and send all the input as parameters. Which is feasible and best one, I know 2 is good in terms of code optimization and less number of calls. But, I want to understand what will be the execution time difference in above approaches How much time does java take to call method in another package? Is there any default value like x nano seconds or y milli seconds. Based on the time taken I can choose the appropiate one. Thanks

  I have this type that contains two overloads of a generic method. I like to retrieve one of the overloads (with the Func<T> parameter) using reflection. The problem however is that I can't find the correct parameter type to supply the Type.GetMethod(string, Type[]) method with. Here is my class definition: public class Foo { public void Bar<T>(Func<T> f) { } public void Bar<T>(Action<T> a) { } } And this is what I've come up with, unfortunately without succes: [TestMethod] public void Test1() { Type parameterType = typeof(Func<>); var method = typeof(Foo).GetMethod("Bar", new Type[] { parameterType }); Assert.IsNotNull(method); // Fails } How can I get the MethodInfo of a generic method of which I know the parameters?

• two classes contain objects of each other

  hi, i hope there's a simple answer to this. without getting too complicated i have two classes. an "Animal" and a "Cell" Cell contains an Animal as a member. Animal has methods that accept Cells in their parameters. i'm just confused as to how i #include each class the others header? i've only ever had to go up a chain of classes and just included the last class header in the next and so on, but this circular situation has me a bit lost. i hope that makes sense, any help greatly appreciated.

  Hi I have scenario, where there are html hidden fields, the page can be redirected to itself, with parameters, I have sessions too. Now depending on session value I want to set some hidden values, so that it can be picked up from javascript and can do certain operation. But, the problem is I have no idea about how to get/ set values into html controls using asp.net, and also do not know whether this is possible or not. Please note, it is imperative that I need some way to hold some data that can be set using asp.net and can be picked up by javascript.   I am trying to intercept http POST method in WebView android, but not able to find any suitable method for the same. In API 11 there is a method shouldInterceptRequest, but it gives only webviewq and url as parameters so cater only GET request, it doesnot provide POST body data and request type indicator. My question : Is there any way to override this method in android NDK ? or if i can pass a flag which identify request and also i can provide POST data. Also if you have any other solution, tell me.

• MySQL Locking table from Stored FUNCTION

  I have a function in a MySQL Database that determines some sync parameters for a mobile device. The function determines the last date/time the user synchronized with the database. During my sync operation I call this server side function twice. As soon as I call it the second time - the entire Sync_Records table is locked. I cannot write to it from any other connection anywhere (note, after first call, the table is not locked). I changed the function to a Procedure - and all is fine - no locking after the second call. The entire sync operation (including both calls to the function/procedure) is within a transaction. This is an InnoDb table. The function/procedure simply does two select statements. They are storing results in local variables and then returning the date time variable. I don't understand why the tables are locked. Does anyone have any ideas?

  Hello, we have application where database contains large parts of business logic in triggers, with a update subsequently firing triggers on several other tables. I want to refactor the mess and wanted to start by extracting procedures from triggers, but can't find any reliable tool to do this. Using "Extract procedure" in both SQL Developer and Toad failed to properly handle :new and :old trigger variables. If you had similar problem with triggers, did you find a way around it? • pyschool is wrong ?

  I'm currently learning python and trying to do exercises at pyschools (if anyone knows what it is). Anyway, i have an exercise that asks me to do the following : Write a function percent(value, total) that takes in two numbers as arguments, and returns the percentage value as an integer. Here's my code: def percent(value, total): percent = value / total * 100 return int(percent) It works great in my Python Idle and it gives all the correct answers. however, when i run it in the pyschools website, it says that , for example , when the function is called with parameters 46 and 90 , the function returns 0. However, in my python idle , it correctly returns 51. What might be the problem ? Thank you very much for your help!

• Sortable with scriptaculous problems

  hello, Im following a few tutorials to sort a list, but i can't get the DB to update. The drag drop side of things is working, also, i javascript alert() the serialize list onUpdate and the order is printed out as follows: images_list[]=20&images_list[]=19 etc...   Is there a way to convert a Json Object to a Multidimensional C# Array? I know it might be impractical but I can't be bothered to write classes and then deserialize the strings into them. • Webservice parameter value encoding

  We have a webservice created in WCF and presenting itself as a basicHttpBinding. One of the parameters is a string which takes an xml string. Looking at the soap the client generates to send to the webservice, the xml is encoded, with all < and swapped into < and >. My question is, is this all that is encoded, or has the parameter been run through HtmlEncode so that other entities would be swapped also? The reason I ask is we are submitting with our client to a 3rd party webservice now and they would like to know the details on what is encoded.

• App.config path not correctly interpreted by ASP.NET Application

  Hello everyone ! I'm working on a very old project (2000) in VB6 which was "modernized" and upgraded to VB.NET 3.5. I've centralized every old INI configuration file into one MainApp.config, which is referenced by the app.config of every component. There's an VB ASP.NET website in the solution, which uses DLL components, which are looking into app.config for parameters like, say, error log directory, etc. I've deployed the site on my dev. server (Windows 2008 Server w/ IIS 7.0) into the D:\WebSite\ directory. Problem: When running the site, an error occurs. A DLL is looking into app.config for the parameter RepertoireErreur which has the value .\Erreurs\ Instead of returning D:\WebSite\Erreurs\ it returns c:\windows\system32\inetsrv\.\Erreurs\ which doesn't contain the Erreurs directory. Boom. Error. Does anyone have ever encountered the same problem ? Is there a solution ? Thanks,

  hello, using XMLHttpRequest it is not possible to open a connection to a document on a different domain than where the page itself is hosted. but what about different ports? for example i have a webserver running on my machine listening on port 80 so the webaddress would look like this: http://localhost:80/mypage.html and i have another webserver running on localhost which is meant to process the ajax requests but listens on a different port. so the javascript in mypage.html would look like this: var xmlhttprequest = new XMLHttpRequest(); xmlhttp.open("GET", "http://localhost:1234/?parameters", true); xmlhttp.send(); would this work? or will it give a security exception as well?
