• Is it safe to delete the "ipch" folder - Precompiled headers?

  Hello, I was looking through the folder for an application I am working on and noticed the "ipch" folder, for my solution which has two small projects it weighs in at about 90mb+ in size. I have found an article discussing the use for the files and was wondering if they were safe to delete? It's for an assignment hand in and I would like to keep the electronic hand in as small as possible. If I were to delete the folder will the application remain in a safe and stable state?   I'm starting a new project based on ASP.NET and Windows server. The application is planned to be pretty big and serve large amount of clients pulling and updating high freq. changing data. I have previously created projects with Linq-To-Sql or with Ado.Net. My plan for this project is to use VS2010 and the new EF4 framework. It would be great to hear other programmers options about development with Entity Framework Pros and cons from previous experience? Do you think EF4 is ready for production? Should i take the risk or just stick with plain old good ADO.NET?

• django modelformset - one form per related table row

  Hello, I have two models: class Model1(): name = CharField() url = CharField() class Model2(): model1 = ForeignKey(Model1) user = ForeignKey(User) zzz = CharField() There are 5 rows for model1 in the database, these are fixed and will rarely change. I need to display a formset for model2 that allows users to enter the zzz value, the formset must always show one form per row in the model1 table, the label for each form in the formset must be the name of the related model1. If the user deletes a model2 in the formset the next time the page loads it will render an empty zzz value for that form and the user must be able to edit the previous zzz value - meaning it must be pre populated with all model2 rows associated with the user. The idea is to print each row in the model1 table as a form instead of the user selecting the related model1 name in a select box. I know its not that complicated, but I'm seriously stumped and keep going round in circles!! Many thanks in advance. • Hooking into AppInitialize with WCF service

  Hi, Im having issues with my WCF service. I need to do a windsor container injection pre application_start and noticed i can use the AppInitialise method. It works on visual studio debug but when I deploy to IIS the code does not get fired.. I initialized the class as follows public static class Class1 { public static void AppInitialize() { IWindsorContainer container; container = new WindsorContainer("windsor.xml"); container.AddFacility(); container.Resolve(); } } Is there any special task i need to do to get this to work on IIS.   I have a problem with the mapping of Oracle Float double precision datatype to Java Double datatype. The hibernate schema validator seems to fail when the Java Double datatype is used. org.hibernate.HibernateException: Wrong column type in DB.TABLE for column amount. Found: float, expected: double precision The only way to avoid this is to disable schema validation and hope the schema is in sync with the app about to run. I must fix this before it goes out to production. App's evironment: - Grails 1.2.1 - Hibernate-core 3.3.1.GA - Oracle 10g

• ASP.NET MVC: AuthorizeAttribute on default page

  The default controller in my ASP.NET MVC project is decorated with the [Authorize] attribute. When I deploy the website on my development machine and access the website, I am redirected to the login page (defined in forms loginUrl section of the Web.Config). Result: everything works as expected. When I publish the website on our production server (Windows Server 2008, IIS 7, DefaultAppPool) and access the website, the expected address shows in the address bar (/Account/LogOn?ReturnUrl=*my_expected_return_url*), but the page displays "You do not have permission to view this directory or page." instead of the login page. If I remove the [Authorize] attribute on the default controller/action, the page displays correctly. My Web.Config file: sessionState mode="InProc" timeout="30" authentication mode="Forms" forms loginUrl="~/Account/LogOn" timeout="2880"

• Loading Separate Pages With Animation in JQTouch

  I'm trying to convert a database-driven multiple-choice-style study website (written in JSP) into an iPhone app using JQTouch. If I load all of the Q&A's into their own divs in the same file I can easily link and animate between them using links to hashtags, like: a class="button" href="#question22" Unfortunately this isn't practical. The logic of the website as it currently works requires calls to a number of dynamically generated pages; I can't include every question in its own div in the same flat file. How would I go about dynamically (pre)loading the next question (a JSP page like AskQuestion.jsp?questionId=Kzhctand ) then serving that up within the app after the user presses a button?   Are there enums available in the .NET framework that have values for build flavor (Debug, Release) and build platform (Any CPU, x86, x64 etc)? I haven't been able to find anything on MSDN or Google. It seems unnecessarily cumbersome to create my own. For context: I'm creating a custom TFS2010 workflow activity that requires flavor and platform info. Currently these are entered in the build definition as free-from strings. The default TFS build template has a dialog box (accessible in the build definition editor under Process\1.Required\Items to Build\Configurations to Build) that provides drop-down menus with this info pre-populated. I'd like to do something similar.

• Netbeans - *Easy* way to tell which Netbeans project a file belongs to

  I was wondering if there is a way in Netbeans (v 6.8, or whatever) to have the editor tabs colored based on which project the file belongs to? Or some other easy way to distinguish which project a file belongs to. Basically my problem is that I have 3-4 netbeans projects, which all have a very similar code base (production version, staging version, development version 1, development version 2), and sometimes I have files open from a few different projects, and I get confused as to which project the file belongs to. And I know that you can hover over the tab and you can see which project it belongs to, but it would be fantastic if there was another, easier way to visually distinguish which project a file belongs to.

  I'm unable to debug a WinForms C# application using the released version of Visual Studio 2010 Prof. I get the following error message after the second debugging run. Error 9 Unable to copy file "obj\x86\Debug\Arrowgrass Reports.exe" to "bin\Debug\Arrowgrass Reports.exe". The process cannot access the file 'bin\Debug\Arrowgrass Reports.exe' because it is being used by another process. I've tried a pre-build script to attempt to delete this file, but it's locked by Visual Studio. There are a few references to this on the net so it is a know problem. Does anyone have a hotfix or effective work-around?

  I'm unsure on the best stack to build a chat application. Currently I'm thinking of two main options: facebook tornado cons: does not use the main chat protocol xmpp but pubsubhubbub pros: i really like its simplicity for development (webserver + webframework); pubsubhubbub also seems simpler as a protocol than xmpp; and i know python xmpp + bosch, punjab, ejabberd cons: don't know erlang; overall seems a bit harder to develop pros: uses xmpp protocol The chat app will need to have the following: Private messages Public rooms Private rooms Chat history for rooms (not forever, just the last n messages) html embedding url to chat room Both options seem scalable so that's not really my worry (we're thinking of running the app in amazon's ec2 as well). I know there's a project that builds a xmpp server using tornado but it's not ready for production use and our deadline isn't that big. Basically my main worry is ease of development vs somehow regretting later using pubsubhubbub to develop a chat app but I read somewhere that PubSubHubbub might eventually replace XMPP as REST replaced SOAP - so what do you think?

After the considerable effort to find that bug I've got to ask why would anyone ever want this behavior? I can see how this might be useful for macro magic, but then why is this a "feature" in a modern language like python? Have you ever used string literal concatenation in production code?

  Hi, I am trying to develop auto horizontal scrolling for our website using - jQuery.ScrollTo / jQuery.SerialScroll. I am not sure if this is the best jquery library to do that, but if there's something better, please let me know. Here's the behavior that I want, check out foursquare's "Recent Activity" list. The data that will refresh will come from a ajax request that I make every few seconds using window.setInterval. I am not really a CSS/java script guy so I havent been able to figure out jQuery.SerialScroll. Here's the website - look at the "Live job Feeds" list. Currently the list does refresh the data coming from the ajax call, but I dont see the effect, the animation, in fact I dont even think serialScroll is being used. Right now I am doing a - $('#feed-ticker').prepend(content) to pre-append the newly arrived data. You can do a view source to look at the current code. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Now I really don't know what specifying a proxy server address might have to do with absolute or relative URIs. The use of the proxy server or not is the only difference I can see when running the client on the production or on the development machine. • SQL Server 2005 high memory usage and performance problems

  Hi there guys. I have this ASP.NET/SQLServer2005 website running on a production server (Win2003, QuadCore, 4GB). The site runs smoothly normally, but after 2-3 weeks I notice a slow performance on the site (especifically in one particular page). Also I notice that the SQL Server process is using like 2GBs of RAM. So I restart the service, the site runs fast again and the process 300-400MBs. I'm looking for an explanation of why is this happening? What is SQL Server storing in RAM that takes too much space and degrades the performance? What can I do to avoid this? I'm trying to avoid restarting the SQLServer everytime this happens. Thank you!

I tried folowing the installation guide from guides.rails.info, I installed sudo gem install rake rack-test rack-mount erubis mail sudo gem install tzinfo builder i18n memcache-client sudo gem install text-format thor And rails 3 via sudo gem install rails --pre Now I create a new app rails abc And try rake db:create Which fails with Could not find gem 'sqlite3-ruby (>= 0, runtime)' in any of the sources. So I try installing sqlite3-ruby sudo gem install sqlite3-ruby Which fails with Could not create Makefile due to some reason, probably lack of necessary libraries and/or headers. Check the mkmf.log file for more details. You may need configuration options. So I install it via apt-get sudo aptitude install libsqlite3-ruby1.8. And still get same error on rake db:create.

I need to pass some data (2 strings) to my "menu" User Control on my Master Page (to select the current tab in my menu navigation, etc.) My views are strongly-typed to my data model. How can I push data from my controller to my menu or at least allow my master page to access some data pre-defined in my controller? Note: I understand this violates pure ASP.NET MVC, but like I said, it is a hybrid project.   Hi! Assume we have a class UserService with attribute current_user. Suppose it is used in AppService class. We have AppService covered with tests. In test setup we stub out current_user with some mock value: UserService.current_user = 'TestUser' Assume we decide to rename current_user to active_user. We rename it in UserService but forget to make change to its usage in AppService. We run tests and they pass! Test setup adds attribute current_user which is still (wrongly but successfully) used in AppService. Now our tests are useless. They pass but application will fail in production. We can't rely on our test suite == TDD is not possible. Is TDD broken in Python?

  I have a database and a site having forms authentication. It is working fine with VS2008. This time, I am using "Trusted_connection =True". But when it is opened from outside or directly from browser then I am getting error "Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'." I know this is due to permission. SQL server is based on windows authentication. What is the best approach to manage user to connect SQL Server? Should I enable SQL Server authentication? Let me know what to do so that it makes the production feel and there wouldn't be any problem during deployment. Note: SQL Server is installed on domain server.
