• Will the URL /nosuchpage get routed via my ASP.NET MVC application?

  [I'm trying to figure out the reason why I'm having another problem, and this question is part of the puzzle.] I have an MVC 2 website that has routing set up so that URLs such as /Customer/23/Order/47 get handled by various controllers. I do not have a rule that would match, for example, /nosuchpage and in my Cassini environment a request for that URL will trigger my Application_Error code, which lets me log the error and show a friendly response. However, when I deployed this website on IIS7 using integrated mode, my Application_Error is not triggered, and IIS shows its own 404 message. No matter what I've tried, I can't get Application_Error to fire. Now I'm thinking: is the reason it doesn't fire because the request is not getting routed via my application? Either because I didn't explicitly set up a catch-all route, or because the file-extension fools it into thinking it should use the "static file handler" (whatever that is)? Should I expect my Application_Error to be invoked?

  Hi, I'm developing an iPhone application with FB connect, the JavaScript API includes really powerful methods like wait.on for combining requests... Any way using those API methods via iOS and Xcode? about the FQL responses, I'm using both: request:didReceiveResponse: AND request:didLoad: methods. all the FQL queries I send provoke didReceiveResponse but not all of them provoke the second one (didLoad). @"SELECT uid,eid FROM event_member WHERE uid in (select uid2 from friend where uid1=%d limit 100)", userID when the limit is 1-2 it provokes them all, when it grows too 100 (friends to fetch) it provokes only the first.. does anyone know this problem? • jquery ui autocomplete does't close options menu if there is no focus when ajax returns

  I'm using jquery ui autocomplete widget with ajax, and on noticed the following problem. Background: In order for the user to be able to focus on the autocomplete and get the options without typing anything, I use the focus event: autoComp.focus(function() { $(this).autocomplete("search", "");} However this produces the following effect: when the user clicks, an ajax request is being sent. While waiting for the response, the user then clicks elsewhere and the autocomplete is blurred. But as soon as the response returns, the options menu pops out, even though the autocomplete has no focus. In order to make it go away the user has to click once inside, and again outside the autocomplete, which is a bit annoying. any ideas how I prevent this? EDIT: I solved this in a very ugly way by building another mediator function that knows the element's ID, and this function calls the ajax function with the ID, which on success check the focus of the element, and returns null if it's not focused. It's pretty ugly and I'm still looking for alternatives. EDIT#2: Tried to do as Wlliam suggested, still doesn't work.. the xhr is undefined when blurring. • What is a Web Framework ? How does it compare with LAMP

  I started web development in LAMP/WAMP and it was logical to me . There is a Web Server program called Apache which does the networking part of setting up a service on port 80 ( common port ) . If the request is regular HTML it uses the HTTP headers to transport files .And if the request for the file is a PHP one , it has a mod_php with which Apache invokes the PHP interpreter to process the file and it gives back HTML which is again transferred as usual HTML . Now the question is what is a Web Framework ? I came across Python based website creation and there is Flask . What is a flask , how does it compare with LAMP . Further are DJango / Ruby on Rails different from flask ? Can someone answer me and also give some good places to read on these .Thanks for your answers in advance . Further is things like LAMP slower than the common FRAMEWORKS because they claimn easy deplyment fo web apps .

• AJAX calls from multiple browser tabs at the same time:

  When an user tries to send AJAX requests simultaneously from multiple browser tabs, the earlier requests get completed and the page loads but the other AJAX calls are preempted. AS a result of which the response is empty for the other calls. Only one call survives. In my application using struts 2.0, JSP and javascript and the prototype framework, i found that the server response is empty in the cases mentioned above though the data gets updated in teh database with the request parameters. The onSucess event handler for Ajax.request gets called but the the response is empty. Can you please help? Thanks

• How do I throttle my site's API users?

  The legitimate users of my site occasionally hammer the server with API requests that cause undesirable results. I want to institute a limit of no more than say one API call every 5 seconds or n calls per minute (haven't figured out the exact limit yet). I could obviously log every API call in a DB and do the calculation on every request to see if they're over the limit, but all this extra overhead on EVERY request would be defeating the purpose. What are other less resource-intensive methods I could use to institute a limit? I'm using PHP/Apache/Linux, for what it's worth.

  Hi, I am trying to setup ASP.Net MVC 2 application on Linux environment. I've installed Ubuntu 10.10 on VirtualBox, then installed Mono 2.8 from sources. After that I have installed nginx and configure it as recommended here. Unfortunately, FastCGI shows me standard error 500 page: No Application Found Unable to find a matching application for request: Host localhost:80 Port 80 Request Path /Default.aspx Physical Path /var/www/mvc/Default.aspx My application is located in /var/www/mvc directory. I've tried to create some stub Default.aspx file and place it in root dir of my application, but it didn't help, same error occured. Thanks.

  I'd like to test a Java Service Call. My first attempt was to use the "Java Request Sampler" The docu says This sampler lets you control a java class that implements the JavaSamplerClient interface. I'm not sure how to get the org.apache.jmeter.protocol.java.sampler.JavaSamplerClient Interface as there is no Maven Artifact nor provided binaries on the JMeter side. Just a JMeter Maven Plugin (which is not what I'm looking for). I could install the needed binaries in my local Maven Repository, I Just don't know where they are available. Wondering if anybody at all is using the "Java Request Sampler" ? P.S. Maybe I should try the JUnit Sampler

• Rotate a feature Image in Open Layers

  I have an open layers map. It adds and removes my "imageFeature" every 10secs or so. I have a JSON feed that gives me the rotation that I need, I have a request to get that rotation and set it as a variable of rotationv. Everything works but the fact when the image is recreated it does not update the rotation. I have a list of urls which contents cyrillic. Maybe they have uncorrect encoding?   I was writing a simple Grails app and I have a spot in a gsp where one of my java beans in modified. <g:each in="${myList}" status="i" var="myVar"> // if the user performs some view action, update one of the myVar elements </g:each> This works, but I don't think it's quite threadsafe. myList is an http request variable but in cases of pages that use ajax (or other client side manipulations), it is possible for two threads to be modifying the same request scope variable The Spring AbstractController class provides a setSynchronizeOnSession method. Does grails provide any equivalent functionality? If not, what's the best way to protect this non-threadsafe mutation? thanks, Jeff

  With Struts2 I can't find a way to serve a static CSS :-/ Newbie question but I could not find any answer on the Internet: The CSS file is static/styles.css in my WAR file. Tomcat replies with 404 when I request http://server/myapp/static/styles.css But it works if I put styles.css at the root of the WAR and request http://server/myapp/styles.css I tried adding the following to my struts.xml in the only package but still 404: <action name="/static/*"> <result>/static/{1}</result> </action> Or as a second package: <package name="static" extends="struts-default" namespace="/static"> <action name="/static/*"> <result>/static/{1}</result> </action> </package>

• Good way to cache data during Android application lifecycle?

  Hello, keeping my question short, I have creating application with 3 activities, where A - list of categories, B - list of items, C - single item. Data displayed in B and C is parsed from online XML. But, if I go trough A - B1 - C, then back to A and then back to B1 I would like to have it's data cached somewhere so I wouldn't have to request XML again. I'm new to Android and Java programming, I've googled a lot and still can't find (or simply do not have an idea where to look) a way to do what I want. Would storing all received data in main activity A (HashMaps? ContentProviders?) and then passing to B and C (if they get same request that was before) be a good idea?

And there are two ways that I should response in an event of logging failure, server redirect to the login page using header(url). • goo.gl Api: How to know if URL was added to user's history?

  I'm using the goo.gl API as described here. It's easy to use and it works with or without authantication (I'm using OAuth). So, if I provide the OAuth token / secret, the shortened URL is added to the users history. My problem is, that I would like to show to the user that the shortened URL was added to his goo.gl history. The respone you get from the shortening request, however, is always the same, whether you use authorization or not: { "kind": "urlshortener#url", "id": "http://goo.gl/fbsS", "longUrl": "http://www.google.com/" } So, does anyone know a way to find out, if the shortened URL was successfully added to the user's history? Is there a parameter you can add to the request URL that leads to a more detailed result string?

• How to block the UI during asynchronous operations in WPF

  We have a WPF app (actually a VSTO WPF app). On certain controls there are multiple elements which, when clicked, load data from a web service and update the UI. Right now, we carry out these web requests synchronously, blocking the UI thread until the response comes back. This prevents the user clicking around the app while the data is loading, potentially putting it into an invalid state to handle the data when it is returned. Of course the app becomes unresponsive if the request takes a long time. Ideally, we'd like to have the cancel button active during this time, but nothing else. Is there a clever way of doing this, or will we have to switch the requests to execute asynchronously using backgroundworker and write something that disables all the controls apart from the cancel button while a request is in progress?

  Hy! In my app, every profile has a gallery and this gallery has images. They can have 1 or 1000 images, so when i show up the gallery i only need a part of the images, let's say 12 images. Then in my ajax gallery when, someone requests more images are loaded. This gallery is SEO, so, the main url is: "/profile-url/" and then, there are these urls too: "/profile-url/images/1" that loads the image with the id=1 in the database. The gallery have to show only 6 images per stack, so When i request the page with the image.id=64, only have to show from 60 to 72, and to select the 64, that is done with js. how may i add a request like this? and how to order them? thanks

• UrlRewriter.Net with URL with final dot

  I want to use UrlRewriter.Net as described in this blog by ScottGu. In the example below, page.aspx should display a page text stored in the database based on the title= URL parameter. After a couple of tweaks the only remaining issue seems to be that a final dot in the URL causes a 404 a sequence of two dots in the URL causes a 400 Windows 7, IIS 7 with Integrated AppPool, VS2008. Looking at the Failed Request Log, it seems that the UrlRewriter module is called after retrieving the request handler. Can these two issues be fixed, or is there a better replacement for UrlRewriter? (A related question only asks about the 404) Edit: This behavior can even be reproduced on SO, so maybe there is no work-around?

• Invalidating session before iPhone application quits

  Hello I would like to tell the server to invalidate an ongoing session when the user quits the iPhone application. In the app delegate, I send a request to the server in the (void)applicationWillTerminate:(UIApplication *)application method. I am not waiting for a server answer, I just want to send the request and quit. However I cant see any packet leaving the application. The same code in another place works fine. Session has a limited duration anyway and the server will invalidate it after a while, but I would prefer to do it nicely when leaving application. Is it normal that no NSURLConnection can be established from the applicationWillTerminate method ? Thank you.
