(removed hundreds abbreviation from spec) The shortest code by character count that will abbreviate an integer (no decimals). Code should include the full program. Relevant range is from 0 - 9,223,372,036,854,775,807 (the upper limit for signed 64 bit integer). The number of decimal places for abbreviation will be positive. You will not need to calculate the following: 920535 abbreviated -1 place (which would be something like 0.920535M). Numbers in the tens and hundreds place (0-999) should never be abbreviated (the abbreviation for the number 57 to 1+ decimal places is 5.7dk - it is unneccessary and not friendly). Remember to round half away from zero (23.5 gets rounded to 24). Banker's rounding is verboten. Here are the relevant number abbreviations: h = hundred (102) k = thousand (103) M = million (106) G = billion (109) T = trillion (1012) P = quadrillion (1015) E = quintillion (1018) SAMPLE INPUTS/OUTPUTS (inputs can be passed as separate arguments): First argument will be the integer to abbreviate.   • Why is my variable uninitialized in a separate if test?

    For the first run, I need to use dates that are six months prior to the last MySQL date $row_recent[0]. For all of the runs after 1, I am using a previous variable to store the previous date and then decrease the date by 6 months. I have confirmed that the first if test produces the expected result. (MySQL date - 6 Months). However, the second if test outputs $startdate6m as the PHP default due to $previous_6m being uninitialized.     I created a messy query in a hurry a while ago to get a list of product codes. I am now trying to clean up my tables and my code. I recently tried to rewrite the query in order for it to be easier to use and understand. The original query works great, but it requires multiple search strings in order to do one search because it uses UNIONS, and it has a few other issues. My newly modified query is easier to understand, and only requires one search string, but is returning different results. Basically the new query is leaving records out, and I would like to understand why, and how to fix it.   • Project Management and Scheduling Techniques

    Hello, I know this is probably the nth project management question. But am trying to move my team onto a more robust project management technique. Am wondering what is the best technique to use? I know that probably no technique is best, but which are the most popular techniques? Poker planning? Evidence Based Scheduling? COCOMO? Agile? Scrum? XP? Which one to use? Also, suppose I use EBS, wouldn't it be too time consuming to break down every single activity into fine grained tasks? E.g. "Design" is a goal, what kind of fine-grained tasks will I have under it? Is this is a waste of time i.e. dividing work into so many micro parts. Usually when I give my programmers a task, I follow up every week, and they complete quite a lot of the task assigned to them (the tasks are very broad e.g. X module). Is EBS worth it? Are there any white-papers on it so that I can implement it on my own? (instead of using Fogbugz) Most of my projects are web-based projects. Thank you for your time.

    A non-hypothetical but abstracted situation: I have a domain www.foo.com, from which I'm making an AJAX POST to beta.foo.com. Examining the XHR object, I see a response header of 200 OK, but no response text - I even get a response 12B long, which is the exact response (a 12-character string) that I'm expecting - but the response text is blank. If this is a cross-domain issue, why am I getting 200 OK, and better yet - why am I seeing the PHP functions fire on the beta.foo.com side - yet getting no response?
