• Caching query results in django

  I'm trying to find a way to cache the results of a query that won't change with frequency. For example, categories of products from an e-commerce (cellphones, TV, etc). I'm thinking of using the template fragment caching, but in this fragment, I will iterate over a list of these categories. This list is avaliable in any part of the site, so it's in my base.html file. Do I have always to send the list of categories when rendering the templates? Or is there a more dynamic way to do this, making the list always available in the template?

  I have a Document object initialized in the init() method of the servlet and use it in the doPost() method to service the requests. selectNodeList() xpath query gives exception when the servlet services many request at same time. • TSQL Query: Escaping Special Characters

  Hello all, I am trying to escape special characters in a TSQL query. I have done this before: SELECT columns FROM table WHERE column LIKE '%\%%' ESCAPE '\' And it has worked. Now I have tried to do this now: UPDATE match SET rule_name='31' ESCAPE '\' But it has failed. I know none of the vlaues have a \ but it should still work. I am guessing its because it needs a LIKE statement but how else can I escape characters that I am adding to a database? In addition, does anyone have a link to all the special characters that should be escaped, I couldn't find any documentation on this! Thanks all for any help

  Hi, I have this big function that gets a lot of different data and insert it into multiple tables.. Not all the data is always available so not all the SQL INSERT queries are successful. I need to check which SQL INSERT query was fully successful and which wasn't to the do something with this data (like inserting into a log table or similar). Just to give you an example of how I think it can be done: $sql = 'INSERT INTO data_table (ID, column1, column2) VALUES(?, ?, ?)'; if ($stmt->prepare($sql)) { $stmt->bind_param('iss', $varID, $var1, $var2); if ($stmt->execute()) { $success == TRUE; //or something like that } } I'm not completely sure this is the best way and if its always really show if the data was inserted into the table... Any suggestions??

  hi all, i want to format date to string in hql select, for example i have purchasing data with transaction date in it: class Purchase { private Date datePurchase } and i want to select date in a certain format, for example yyyyMMdd, can i do that in hql? actually i can iterate through all purchase data returned by query, and start to format the date using SimpleDateFormat, but i don't want do that, i want to do it in hql, is it posible? fyi, i just want to return the id and date string only, not all Purchase field. thak you all for any help.

I do open/close the DB before after the above code. Is there a way to troubleshoot exactly why the database can't be opened and what its relationship to my LIKE syntax is?

• Query and/or Search for SharePoint Document ID

  We have the sharepoint 2010 environment with Document ID's enabled. Given (part of) a Doc ID, we want to programmatically retrieve the document(s) matching that ID. The problem seems to be that this column is rather special, in that it might need special handling. Using an SPSiteDataQuery, fetching the _dlc_DocId field as part of the viewfields works fine. However, including it as part of the where query never results in any documents being fetched. Using the Search API has gotten us nowhere at all. Has anyone pulled this off, or any suggestions on how to tackle this problem? [Update] Looks like DocumentIdProvider.GetDocumentUrlsById might be used for this purpose. If necessary, the matching SPListItem can then be found by querying on the URL. However, the MSDN documentation doesn't document the documentId arugment properly, so I'm unsure whether partial ID's are allowed and in what format.

Is there a way to refernce and bind to result variable or do I need to create a new collection and then add the return of result to the new collection? thank you

• How do i write a sql query with user input and wildcards

  Usually i write my where statements as WHERE key=@0 then add a param. Now i would like the user to specific a few letters such as 'oat' and would like to stick wildcards around it %oat% which matches 'coating'. So how do i write the query so wildcards are around the user input (the 'seachword'). Now lets take it a step further. I would not like the user to write % so he cannot do blah%ing. Perhaps % is part of the sentence (or it could be flat out illegal but i prefer it be part of the sentence). How do i put my wildcards around a word or sentence and disallow the user from putting the wildcard between his words? (and preferably make % part of the sentence) C# ado.net sql/sqlite

Here is my Powershell script: $DBNameList = (Invoke-SQLCmd -query "select Name from sysdatabases" -Server DEVSQLSRV) This produces my desired list of database names as: Name ----- DBOne DBTwo DBThree I has been my assumption that anything that is returned as a list is an Array in Powershell. However, when I then try this in Powershell: $DBNameList -contains 'DBTwo' It comes back has "False" instead of "True" which is leading me to believe that my list is not an actual array.   Hi. I have this code in place to pull some relation data from the database based on a ID of another weblog entry. The relationship custom field would not work for my situation. I have tested the SQL with MySQL and get no errors. But I get an error when I pull up the page. {exp:query sql="SELECT entry_id,field_id_16,field_id_19 FROM exp_weblog_data WHERE field_id_15='2' AND weblog_id='6'"} Also, I want to populate the “field_id_15” from the url. I have tried using the “segment_*” tag, but nothing. Maybe it is something else. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Josh

But they both contain more columns of data than what is shown in the queries above. Those are just the columns needed for this particular issue. difference contains all rows in sourceWorkflowList that are not contained in targetWorkflowList Now what I would like to do is to remove all rows from sourceWorkflowList that do not exist in difference.   I have a userList, some users don't have a name (null). If I run the first LINQ query, I got an error saying "object reference not set to an instance of an object" error. var temp = (from a in userList where ((a.name == "john") && (a.name != null)) select a).ToList(); However, if I switch the order by putting the checking for null in front, then it works without throwing any error: var temp = (from a in userList where ((a.name != null) && (a.name == "john")) select a).ToList(); Why is that? If that's pure C# code (not LINQ), I think both would be the same. I don't have SQL profiler, I am just curious what will be the difference when they are being translated on SQL level.

  Hi all, I'm building an application that is a kind of registry. Think about the dictionary: you lookup for a word and it return something if the word is founded. Now, that registry is going to store valuable informations about companies, and some could be tempted to get the complete listing. My application use EJB 3.0 that replies to WS. So I was thinking about permits a maximum of 10 query per IP address per day. Storing the IP address and a counter on a table that would be empty by a script every night. Is it a good idea/practice to do so? If yes, how can I get the IP address on the EJB side? Is there a better way to prevent something to get all the data from my database? I've also though about CAPTCHA but I think it's a pain for the user, and sometime, they are difficult to read even for real human. Hope it's all clear since I'm not english... Thanks Alain

  I'm doing the following code to filter a list of objects before it gets sent off to be printed. I think this has something to do with both the way that .NET makes the copy of my pat object when I do patAdd = pat and the LINQ query that I'm using. Has anyone had a similar issue before and\or what can I do to keep my initial list from getting truncated. Thanks

• speed up a sql query to mysql?

  in my mysql database i've got the geonames database, containing all countries, states and cities. i am using this to create a cascading menu so the user could select where he is from: country - state - county - city. but the main problem is that the query will search through all the 7 millions rows in that table each time i want to get the list of children rows, and that is taking a while 10-15 seconds. i wonder how i could speed this up: caching? table views? reorganizing table structure somehow? and most important, how do i do these things? are there good tutorials you could link to me? i appreciate all help and feedback discussing smart ways of handling this issue!

  When I define the User has_many meetings, it automatically creates a "user_id" key/value pair to relate to the User collections. Except I can't run any mongo_mapper finds using this value, without it returning nil or []. Meeting.first(:user_id = "1234") Meeting.all(:user_id = "1234") Meeting.find(:user_id = "1234") All return nil. Is there another syntax?
