    IIS 7.5 FTP IIS Manager Users Login Fail (530) I'm trying to set up a FTP site on IIS 7.5 that allows IIS Manager Users to login. I'm following this guide: http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/321/configure-ftp-with-iis-7-manager-authentication/. After set up, I cannot login to the FTP using an IIS Manager User account. The client error I got was 530 User cannot log in. Win32 error: Unspecified error. Error details: An error occured during the authentication process. I tried both with or without a virtual host. A Windows account login fine. The only strange thing I noticed was that when setting up Read permission for Network Service, there was an access denied error when setting up permission for "%SystemDrive%\Windows\System32\inetsrv\config\schema". Any thoughts? Thanks!

  • How do I fix "ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress" error?

    I have an Oracle 9.2 database. The server has crashed. After rebooting any attempt to connect to the Oracle server returns error ORA-01033 (as in title). I've tried stopping and starting the Oracle services (from Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services). Also, I have waited half an hour, so I don't think the Oracle server is legitimately still starting up. My feeling is that more likely something is corrupted.

  • What is the difference betweeen "Network install" and "Network Boot" options in virt-manager when installing a new virtual machine

    From my understanding of PXE (Preboot Execution Environment), I know that there must be some negotiation first between the booting client and a DHCP server to obtain network parameters (IP address, etc) in order for the client to be able to fetch the boot loader and kernel image from the boot server. In other words, and aside from being a "virtual" machine, we're talking here about a "bare metal" machine, so there must be some "pre boot" mechanism for those negotiations to take place, and this is exactly what PXE is all about. When I think about the "Network install" option, I can't figure out how the new VM would be able to fetch the boot images (bootloader and kernel) without the previously mentioned mechanism. So, here is a short version of the question: When provisioning a new virtul machine, how do you expect the "Network install" option in virt-manager to work behind the scenes? Many thanks.

  • attach / detach mssql 2008 sql server manager [SOLVED]

    An external consult wrote a guide on how to copy a database. Step two was detach the database using Sql Server Manager. After the detach the database was not visible in the SQL Server Manager... Not much to do but write a mail to the service provider asking to have the database attached again. The service porviders answer: Not posisble to attach again since the SQL Server security has been violated". Rolling back to last backup is not the option I want to use. Can any one give feedback if this seems logic and reasonable to assume that a detached database in a SQL Server 2008 accessed through SQL Server Manager cannot be reattached. It was done by rightclicking the database and choosing detach. -- update -- Based on the comments below I update the question with the server setup. There are two dedicated servers: srv1: Web server with remote desktop and an Sql Server Manager srv2: Sql server that can be accessed through the Sql Server Manager on the web server -- update2 -- After a restart of the server the DBA could suddenly do the attachment of the database. And I guess that after the restart it was a simple task. So all of your answer were rigth! It seems that I can only mark one as a correct answer so I marked the first answer correct.   • How do I notify Oracle that an IIS Worker Process is about to recycle?

    I have an ASP.NET web application with an Oracle back end. The worker process recycling in IIS is set for 40 minutes, and when that occurs, the Oracle server sets a mutex lock while it cleans up all of its open connections. During this cleanup (up to a few minutes in duration), all DB requests get a timeout. Is there a way for IIS to notify Oracle that a worker process recycle is about to occur, so Oracle can be smarter about how it cleans up its resources without locking the entire database?

  • How to avoid maximum Workgroup Manager connections in Mac OS X Server 10.6

    Is there a limit on the Mac OS X Server (10.6) Workgroup Manager in respect to concurrent connections to a server? I have an OS X server up and running and Open Directory configured but I am not able to log in remotely as I get the message the maximum number of connections for Workgroup Manager is already reached and I should wait for a user to disconnect. Even after a restart I get this message remotely. However, locally on the server I can start Workgroup Manager without any issues. It always lets me connect. Any advice what I need to do to make Workgroup Manager work from a remote location? I could not find any max connection setting in Server-Admin and nothing in the slapd log files. The server license says unlimited so I am quite sure it should not be a regular error message that indicates to me I should upgrade.

  • How to remove Excel List Manager?

    I have a spreadsheet with columns set as using the List Manager. I want to remove the list manager. However, the "Remove List Manager" item in the "List" menu of the List toolbar is always disabled. I tried selecting a number of different set of cells in the list, to no avail. "Remove List Manager" stays stubbornly disabled (grayed out). What am I missing? I am using Excel 2008 version 12.1.5.

This is a specific question for OSX. Chrome has a built in task manager under "Tools" to look at the process within Chrome, extremely beneficial in locating a stuck page. What is the similar feature in firefox?   • Can I use Veritias Storage Manager to provide HA storage using server-local storage?

    I have a need to provide an high-availability ftp/http file repository. Upload will happne to one server, but the uploaded file must be immediately visisble on all other servers I can handle the failover of the servers themeselves using load balancers. But in the event of failure of one server, the other servers must see the same contents of the repository. Normally, I'd use a SAN for this, but in this case the data centre standards do not allow SAN/external storage - all storage will be local to the servers. Cam I use Veritas Storage Manager (or any other product) to manage mirroring hte contents between servers in this way? Or does that require a SAN? I couldn't tell either way from a quick look at the data sheets etc.

  • How to prevent boot manager missing after cloning a win764 image using Ghost 2003?

    I am running ghost 2003 command -fdsp, but once we have cloned the image and restored it onto exactly the same make and model machine, we are force to run win7 setup and run a repair which fixes the boot menu, I want to prevent this requirement to fix the problem, any suggestions besides the obvious of using Windows AIK tools, new versions of ghost/clonzilla. I want to prevent the problem in the first place, it's 1 partition only, on a levano workstation m82 with UEFI and a 100mb system reserved partition. Windows Boot Manager screen and states: Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem: 1.Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer. 2.Choose your language settings, and then click "Next." 3.Click "Repair you computer." If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance. Status: 0xc000000e

  • Hyper-V Manager - Host Access During a Catastrophe

    How can I ensure that I can always have Hyper-V Manager access to a Hyper-V server, even in the event that the Active Directory Server is down (in a domain-login environment)? Background: The one that came before me, set up the company's servers as virtual machines on top of a host running Hyper-V Server 6.1 (7601) Service Pack 1. For managing Hyper-V, he installed Window 7 onto a virtual machine (run on the same host) with Hyper-V Manager installed. When the (virtual) Active Directory server (run on this same host) is rebooted, during that reboot, I'm unable to RDP into the Windows 7 virtual machine, and I'm therefore unable to access Hyper-V Manager when the Active Directory server is down. I suspect I can't login because I can't authenticate with the Active Directory Server. I'm going to install Hyper-V Manger onto some addition manager's workstations, but how can I ensure they'll have access in a catastrophe where Active Directory authentication isn't possible?

  • Microsoft Test Manager error in displaying test steps caused by malware

    Sometimes the tool is blamed for errors which are not the fault of the tool – this is one such story.  It was however, not so easy to get to the bottom of it, so I hope sharing this story can help some others. One of our test developers started to get this message inside the test steps part of a test case in the MTM. saying “Could not load file or assembly ‘0 bytes from System, Version=4.0.0.0,……..” The same error came up inside Visual Studio when we opened a test case there. Then we noted a similar error on another piece of software – this error: A System.BadImageFormatException, and same message as above, but just for framework 2.0. We found this  description which pointed to a malware problem (See bottom of that post), that is a fake anti-spyware program called “Additional Guard”.  We checked the computer in question using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware tool.  It found and cleaned out 753 registry keys!!  After this cleanup operation the error was gone.  This is a great tool !  The “Additional Guard” program had been inadvertently installed, and then uninstalled afterwards, but the corrupted keys were of course not removed.  We also noted that this computer had full corporate virus scanning and malware protection, but still this nasty little thing still slipped through.   • Elastic versus Distributed in caching.

    Until now, I hadn't heard about Elastic Caching yet. Today I read Mike Gualtieri's Blog entry. I immediately thought about Oracle Coherence and got a little scare throughout the reading. Elastic Caching is the next step after Distributed Caching. As we've always positioned Coherence as a Distributed Cache, I thought for a brief instance that Oracle had missed a new trend/technology. But then I started reading the characteristics of an Elastic Cache. Forrester definition: Software infrastructure that provides application developers with data caching services that are distributed across two or more server nodes that consistently perform as volumes grow can be scaled without downtime provide a range of fault-tolerance levels Hey wait a minute, doesn't Coherence fullfill all these requirements? Oh yes, I think it does! The next defintion in the article is about Elastic Application Platforms. This is mainly more of the same with the addition of code execution. Now there is analytics functionality in Oracle Coherence. The analytics capability provides data-centric functions like distributed aggregation, searching and sorting. Coherence also provides continuous querying and event-handling. I think that when it comes to providing an Elastic Application Platform (as in the Forrester definition), Oracle is close, nearly there. And what's more, as Elastic Platform is the next big thing towards the big C word, Oracle Coherence makes you cloud-ready ;-) There you go! Find more info on Oracle Coherence here.

  • Customer Experience Gipfel – ein Nachbericht

    Am 14. Juni fand der Customer Experience Gipfel statt, der von Dialogum exklusiv für Oracle und seine Partner durchgeführt wurde. Dort konnten Partner und Endkunden über die Zukunft des Kundenmanagements diskutieren und erfuhren, was sich hinter dem Begriff „Customer Experience“ alles verbirgt. Die Konferenz begann mit einem Networking Dinner am Vorabend, an dem den 80 Teilnehmern in einer ersten Präsentation das Thema „Mobile Commerce“ vorgestellt wurde. Nach einem guten Abendessen hatten alle die Möglichkeit, auf einer Großleinwand beim EM-Spiel Deutschland gegen Holland mitzufiebern. Insgesamt war es ein sehr gelungener Abend, waren die deutschen Jungs doch siegreich und sicherten sich den Einzug ins Viertelfinale. Der Customer Experience Gipfel selbst hat dann alle Erwartungen übertroffen: 150 Teilnehmer, ein Drittel mehr als erwartet, zeigten großes Interesse an Multichannel-Strategien, Loyalty und wie man jeden einzelnen Schritt des Kunden im Kontakt mit dem Unternehmen zu einem positiven Kundenerlebnis werden lässt. So standen überwiegend Unternehmenspräsentationen aus den unterschiedlichen Branchen wie Telekommunikation, Handel oder Travel & Transportation auf dem Programm. Neun Round Tables, fast alle von den teilnehmenden Oracle Partnern moderiert, und 1:1-Gespräche rundeten die Konferenz ab. Und Zeit zum Networking blieb natürlich auch. Bei diesem Angebot war das Teilnehmer-Fazit demnach durchwegs positiv, vor allem sind die Kunden (und Partner) schon auf Oracle Customer Experience (CX) und die Vorteile für das eigene Kundenmanagement gespannt.     The current release of Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse, though in technology preview, brings Oracle ADF binding to the Eclipse IDE. You can download the Software from the link below: Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse (12.1.1.1.0) Technical Preview New June 2012 Certified on Windows 7/XP/Vista, MacOS, and Linux. Supported on JDK 6. For many Eclipse users, ADF is new and therefore I expect them to need guidance and help in case they run into issues they don't know how to recover from. Similar, ADF users familiar with Oracle JDeveloper that want to give OEPE a try, will find things different in Eclipse and thus may have questions.  For both audiences I suggest to post issues to the OEPE forum on the Oracle Technology Network: I'll extend my OTN monitoring to include the OEPE forum on a daily basis to learn about developer needs, requirements and - of course - to catch bugs that need to be filed. From my side this is a part-time involvement, which means that the more ADF questions show on the forum, the more help I could need in answering them. The OTN forum for JDeveloper in my opnion wouldn't be the right place to go to unless the question is a generic ADF question that is not dependent on the integration in Eclipse.
