• How to subclass a specific jqueryui widget method ?

  Since I updated jQueryUI to 1.8 I found a couple of issues in our implementations and I could fix it myself without waiting for a fix on their end if I could find out how to subclass a specific method of the datepicker widget so I call the parent code and then execute my code. I was reading on $.widget but I just can't wrap my head around how that is suppose to work. I tried something like this: $.widget("ui.datepicker", { _showDatepicker: function(input) { alert('Yo'); $.datepicker.prototype._showDatepicker.apply(this,arguments); alert('Hey!'); } }); And all sorts of other variations and beging to think I just don't understand the 'extendability' of jQueryUI or it just can't be done. Anybody knows how I can achieve this ? Thx

• Task scheduler ran a task twice

  Update: This has now happened two days in a row. Update: XML of scheduled tasks and images now included. Two servers located in London, both Windows 2012, have a scheduled task set to run at 3pm Monday to Friday. This has been set up for the last 5 months without a problem. However, on Monday the 28th of August they both ran the scheduled task at 3pm and then again at 4pm. When it was first reported, I thought it was too much of a coincidence to be the day after the clocks had gone back an hour. However, I’m failing in being able to explain why it has happened and if it is related to the clock change at all. The relevant logs from one server (the logs for the other follow this pattern as well): Event 129 15:00:20 Task Scheduler launch task "\3pm", instance "C:\Program Files (x86)\PHP\v5.4\php.exe" with process ID 2388. I've seen this question Scheduled task running twice from time to time which points to a bug at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2461249 being the cause. However, this doesn't include Server 2012 in it's list of problem operating systems. I’m struggling to explain this, can anyone else? I've now updated the php file that is run by the scheduler to not actually do anything whilst I'm going through trying to solve this. I'm planning on restarting one server to see if this changes anything tomorrow. 30 October 08:25 - Update - When exporting the task XML I remembered that I hadn't included the fact that the scheduled task on second server was created by importing the XML of the task created on the first. The only difference between the two tasks is the path of the php file they are executing and the user account that they are running as.

  Hi, I am trying to modify the Ubuntu One File syncing python scripts to not including things like .iso's. I have got as far as finding this file: /usr/share/pyshared/ubuntuone/u1sync/constants.py Inside is this piece of code: import re # the name of the directory u1sync uses to keep metadata about a mirror METADATA_DIR_NAME = u".ubuntuone-sync" # filenames to ignore SPECIAL_FILE_RE = re.compile(".*\\.(" "(u1)?partial|part|" "(u1)?conflict(\\.[0-9]+)?)$") How can I edit this last section (regex?) and make it ignore .iso files???   What I'd like to be able to do is: in config/routes.rb resources :posts in config/locale/en.yml en: resources: posts: "posts" new: "new" edit: "edit" in config/locale/tr.yml tr: resources: posts: "yazilar" new: "yeni" edit: "duzenle" and get I18n.locale = :en edit_post_path(3) #=> /posts/3/edit I18n.locale = :tr edit_post_path(3) #=> /yazilar/3/duzenle I'd also like rails to match any of these routes anytime and pass the associated locale in the params hash such that when I navigate to /yazilar , the request should be routed to the posts#index action. Any simple way of doing that?

So there are times when I want the command window to not show up and times when I want it to stay open so that the user can see what happened, possibly respond with the appropriate input. I don't care about the pizza, but i do need that XML to come back out exactly as it was. • How should I rewrite my code to make it amenable to unittesting?

  I've been trying to get started with unit-testing while working on a little cli program. My program basically parses the command line arguments and options, and decides which function to call. Each of the functions performs some operation on a database. So, for instance, I might have a create function: def create(self, opts, args): #I've left out the error handling. strtime = datetime.datetime.now().strftime("%D %H:%M") vals = (strtime, opts.message, opts.keywords, False) self.execute("insert into mytable values (?, ?, ?, ?)", vals) self.commit() Should my test case call this function, then execute the select sql to check that the row was entered? That sounds reasonable, but also makes the tests more difficult to maintain. Would you rewrite the function to return something and check for the return value? Thanks

• How to create a container that holds different types of function pointers in C++?

  I'm doing a linear genetic programming project, where programs are bred and evolved by means of natural evolution mechanisms. Their "DNA" is basically a container (I've used arrays and vectors successfully) which contain function pointers to a set of functions available. Now, for simple problems, such as mathematical problems, I could use one type-defined function pointer which could point to functions that all return a double and all take as parameters two doubles. Unfortunately this is not very practical. I need to be able to have a container which can have different sorts of function pointers, say a function pointer to a function which takes no arguments, or a function which takes one argument, or a function which returns something, etc (you get the idea)... Is there any way to do this using any kind of container ? Could I do that using a container which contains polymorphic classes, which in their turn have various kinds of function pointers? I hope someone can direct me towards a solution because redesigning everything I've done so far is going to be painful.

• Unpacking Argument Lists and Instantiating WTForms objects from web.py

  After a bit of searching, I've found that it's possible to instantiate a WTForms object in web.py using the following code: form = my_form(**web.input()) web.input() returns a "dictionary-like" web.storage object, but without the double asterisks WTForms will raise an exception: TypeError: formdata should be a multidict-type wrapper that supports the 'getlist' method From the Python documentation I understand that the two asterisks are used to unpack a dictionary of named arguments. That said, I'm still a bit confused about exactly what is going on. What makes the web.storage object returned by web.input() "dictionary-like" enough that it can be unpacked by ** but not "dictionary-like" enough that it can be passed as-is to the WTForms constructor? I know that this is an extremely basic question, but any advice to help a novice programmer would be greatly appreciated!

Explain why this is a poor choice of compression function, and how it could be improved.   The printf/fprintf/sprintf family supports a width field in its format specifier. I have a doubt for the case of (non-wide) char arrays arguments: Is the width field supposed to mean bytes or characters? What is the (correct-de facto) behaviour if the char array corresponds to (say) a raw UTF-8 string? (I know that normally I should use some wide char type, that's not the point) For example, in char s[] = "ni\xc3\xb1o"; // utf8 encoded "niño" fprintf(f,"%5s",s); Is that function supposed to try to ouput just 5 bytes (plain C chars) (and you take responsability of misalignments or other problems if two bytes results in a textual characters) ? Or is it supposed to try to compute the length of "textual characters" of the array? (decodifying it... according to the current locale?) (in the example, this would amount to find out that the string has 4 unicode chars, so it would add a space for padding).

• Enabling full documentation for J2EE in eclipse

  I'm new to Eclipse and am using it currently to play with J2EE. When using Ctrl+Space for types/functions from the regular Java libraries I get a full description (i.e. general description of the type, what are the arguments of the method for, etc.). However I don't get the same for J2EE types. For example, when using Ctrl+Space on methods of the HttpSession class I get only names like "arg0" or "obj" and no description. Is there some kind of a package I can install to remedy this?

• Server authorization with MD5 and SQL.

  I currently have a SQL database of passwords stored in MD5. The server needs to generate a unique key, then sends to the client. In the client, it will use the key as a salt then hash together with the password and send back to the server. The only problem is that the the SQL DB has the passwords in MD5 already. Therefore for this to work, I would have to MD5 the password client side, then MD5 it again with the salt. Am I doing this wrong, because it doesn't seem like a proper solution. Any information is appreciated.

For example, let's say I'm getting this request: Headers: Content-type: text/plain; POST Body: Name: Max Now I want it all to mysteriously bind to this object: class NameInfo { String name; } Using some code like this: String getName() { if ("text/plain".equals(headers.get("content-type"))) { return body.get("name"); } else if ("xml".equals(headers.get("content-type")) { return parseXml(body).get("name"); } else ... } So that in the end I would be able to use: @RequestMapping(method = RequestMethod.POST) void processName(@RequestAttribute NameInfo name) { ... } Is there a way to achieve something similar to what I need? • Rails: translations for table's column.

  In rails application I have two models: Food and Drink. Both food and drink have a name, which has to be stored in two languages. How do I better realize translations for theese tables? First solution I realized was to replace name column with name_en and name_ru. Another solution is to encode with YAML hash like { :en => 'eng', :ru => 'rus' } and store yaml as a name. What would you recommend, assuming content is not static? Maybe there's good article?

• Detecting Infinite recursion in Python or dynamic languages

  Recently I tried compiling program something like this with GCC: int f(int i){ if(i<0){ return 0;} return f(i-1); and it ran just fine. When I inspected the stack frames the compiler optimized the program to use only one frame, by just jumping back to the beginning of the function and only replacing the arguments to f. And - the compiler wasn't even running in optimized mode. Now, when I try the same thing in Python - I hit maximum recursion wall (or stack overflow). Is there way that a dynamic language like python can take advantage of these nice optimizations? Maybe it's possible to use a compiler instead of an interpreter to make this work? Just curious!

• Is it correct that blueprint css allows you to formulate your layout as a grid instead of in terms o

  One of the arguments I've heard about blueprint css is that it lets you think of your layout in terms of a grid rather than in terms of floats. This seems like a big advantage to me because I always get confused about where my floats are going to end up - sometimes a float will unexpectedly drop down below some other floats and I have a hard time figuring out how to reposition everything. Does this make blueprint css a good choice for me - or should I just put the time in to learn how to use floats properly and do all of my layouts manually?

• Update panel in Tab Container

  I have a tab container with 5 tabs, each tab contains an update panel. When the user initially opens the form, they can only see the first Tab, the others are set to visible=false. Once they have completed the first form, the hit save which sends a partial postback to save the data to the DB. Once that is saved, I then want to set all the other tabs to visible, however this does not work at the moment, I am assuming because the tab container is not contained in an update panel. How can I get this to work, do I need to put the tab container in it's own update panel, which will obviously then contain all the other update panels, or should I not use an update panel in the first tab and do a full page postback?

  I would like to submit a data frame to a function and use it to subset another data frame. This is the basic data frame: foo <- data.frame(var1= c('1', '1', '1', '2', '2', '3'), var2=c('A', 'A', 'B', 'B', 'C', 'C')) I use the following function to find out the frequencies of var2 for specified values of var1. foobar <- function(x, y, z){ a <- subset(x, (x$var1 == y)) b <- subset(a, (a$var2 == z)) n=nrow(b) return(n) } Examples: foobar(foo, 1, "A") # returns 2 foobar(foo, 1, "B") # returns 1 foobar(foo, 3, "C") # returns 1 This works. But now I want to submit a data frame of values to foobar. Instead of the above examples, I would like to submit df to foobar and get the same results as above (2, 1, 1) df <- data.frame(var1=c('1','1','3'), var2=c("A", "B", "C")) When I change foobar to accept two arguments like foobar(foo, df) and use y[, c(var1)] and y[, c(var2)] instead of the two parameters x and y it still doesn't work. Which way is there to do this?
