• How can I not render a button in my view if a given property off my model has no value?

  I'm new to web development. In my view, I want to conditionally show a button if Model.TemplateLocation (which is a string) is not null or empty. Below is the code that is rendering the button currently: <div class="WPButton MyButton"> <%=Html.ActionLink(Model.TemplateLinkName, "DownloadTemplate", "ExternalData", new ArgsDownloadTemplate { Path = Model.TemplateLocation, FileName = Model.TemplateFileNameForDownload }, new{})%> </div> Can I wrap some C# code in the <% %'s to test for Model.TemplateLocations value before I render that? I was told to look into @style = "display:none" somehow. Could that be what I need?

• How to manage different form contexts of same form element in single DOM tree

  Hi, As my question title could be bit unclear to you (I tried best), following is what I'm exactly trying to do. I'm having a form element (say a user_info form), where such form elements will be generated for different users by java script and displayed in different js tabs (example: dojo tabs). once form elements are generated, later I need to react on user actions performed on different html elements defined inside user_info form. In this case I need to identify what is the context (in which user_info form element) in which user is working on. The simplest example would be how to retrieve form id of the form in which user actions are being performed. According to my understanding, I can not simply retrieve from by form id, because now DOM tree contains duplicate form instances of the same from element. So, IS there anyway, I could identify form context based on the user actions on its input elements. Thank You.

• Is there a unified way to know if a node is visible or not?

  Hello guys, I'd like to be able to know if a node is visible and rendered on screen. As far as I know, there are at least 3 standard and easy ways of making HTML nodes not visible: Setting opacity: 0; Setting display: none; Setting visibility: hidden. I could check for just these three, but I'm afraid people can get creative when it comes to ways of hiding contents: Sending the element offscreen using negative margins; Using a width or height of 0 and hiding overflow; many more I trust people to have developed. So I was wondering if there is a standard way of determining if a node is rendered to the screen. I'm pretty sure all major browsers determine it for themselves to accelerate drawing, so maybe it's somehow exposed.

• How to show, not download, images in apache?

  I'm dynamically generating some charts using mod_python, in .png and .pdf formats. When a user points to /some/path/some_imagefile_name.png, I want to show the image within the browser, like in this url. I also want the image to be accessible from an HTML <img src=> tag. So far, whenever I point my browser to a .png address from my server, the .png and .pdf are automatically downloaded instead of being viewed. How should I fix this? I tagged this under Apache, since I figured it would be an Apache config thing. If it's not, please point me towards the right direction.

• How can I add a border to all the elements that share a class when the mouse has hovered over one of

  I have a generated HTML file which has large blocks of text with span's sprinkled throughout it with generated class names: This <span class="21232">an example</span> of what <span class="332423"> I'm talking</span> about. There are span's with <span class="21232"> generated ID's </span>. Now, what I'm seeking to do, is if I hover over any of my spans, they will add a border to not only that span, but all other spans that share that same class. So, if I were to hover over the first span, it would wrap a border around "an example" and "generated ID's" because the first and third span share the same class name. I was pretty sure I couldn't do it in straight CSS. Is this possible using jQuery? If so, can anyone point me in the right direction for doing this as simply as possible?

  I have the following HTML and the java script below to simulate the background color change when the link block is clicked, but it doesn't seem to work. Any reason why? If I have only the onmousedown event handled, the background color will be changed to blue for sure. • Alternative to jQuery .data()?

  I'm a big fan of jQuery's .data() method, but I can't always use it. Often times I am rendering html templates that I pass via AJAX and I need to attach metadata to each of the elements in the template. For example: <ul> {% for item in itemlist %} <li metadata="{{ item.metadata }}">{{ item.name }}</li> {% endfor %} </ul> I know attaching attributes to store data is bad practice (and it might not even work in older versions of IE). What is the best practice? Is there a good alternative to this method?

• 'Best' way to pull data relative to a div?

  This answer suggested i should put my data in JS instead of a textarea. Thinking about it i could have scripts and do something like myarray[i]="data" where i is the index of my for loop. However when i click a div how do i find out what i is? I have used var data = $(this).parent('.parent').find('.valuestr').eq(0).val(); which is extremely simple. Should i use a script or should i continue to do it with a textarea? if i should use a script 1) Whats the easiest way to find i and 2) Is it bad pratice to have dozens or hundreds of <script> in my html? or i can go through the loop twice but i still dont know the easiest way to find i. I would have to store it somewhere or go through multiple tags and count them.

• Toggle DIV and SPAN text onclick

  I have been trying to mimic this website http://www.designrattan.co.uk/daybed/apple for a while now. I need to make a page where the customer can click "View 360" and then it changes the DIV to show the product 360 (for which I already have the code for). I also need to make it so that when it is clicked the span text then changes to "Back to Image" I have tried many times and have failed to get the Javascript code and HTML to work well together. My efforts can be seen here: http://designliving.tk/winchester-rattan-garden-round-table-set As you can see it is a complete fail as it doesn't change the DIV it just displays a new one. Also when you click the button it then changes to text instead of a new button. I can achieve this by using float: ... or display: inline-block. However, I'd also like it to be centered on the page, using margin: auto. The two approaches don't seem to be compatible. Is it possible to create such a shrink-wrapped, centered container, without adding a wrapper element?

  What I want to realize is the following: In a JSP x I have a 3 dropdownlists and a button called edit when user click this button a table dynamically should be displayed. Now this table is modified correponding the values in those 3 dropdownlists. So it can be 3 cols or 4 cols or even 6 cols, it depends on the selected values. So what I tried is to use the servlet to getParameter doing the if clause construct the html and then forward the response. Have you any the suggestion of the structure that I can use in JSP?   I'm trying to pull in an src value from an XML document, and in one that I'm testing it with, the src is: <content src="content/Orwell - 1984 - 0451524934_split_2.html#calibre_chapter_2"/> That creates a problem when trying to open the file. I'm not sure what that #(stuff) suffix is called, so I had no luck searching for an answer. I'd just like a simple way to remove it if possible. I suppose I could write a function to search for a # and remove anything after, but that would break if the filename contained a # symbol (or can a file even have that symbol?) Thanks!

• ctrl-c does not copy text on a webpage

  I've come across this several times, ctrl-c randomly does not copy. I think it's caused by javascript or maybe some odd html syntax. I never spent the time to track down what caused it. Anyone know the typical/common causes of ctrl-c not working (to copy) on a website? Speaking from a developers standpoint. What do we developers end up doing to break ctrl-c? Just to clarify, I'm not interested in preventing copying. I'm trying to do the opposite, occasionally I find I've done something that is preventing ctrl-c from copying text, and that is not very user friendly on a text heavy site.
