• Web app to take screen shot of website and annotate?

  Does anyone know of a website that will take a full screen shot of another website and let users write notes over it then send that annotated photo by email or private link? Basically looking for quicker way to write notes on a site other than taking a screen shot my self and putting it into photoshop. Just an update, I don't need any browser extensions which I already have and do the same. I'm looking for a website app which does this to give to a client.

• How to delete all your old website data from the internet?

  I had my website on rohbits.com but for some reasons I had to delete it and recreate it with this URL wwww.rohbits.com/blog. My problem is that the old links are still visible on google search and when people click on those links, they land on a 404 Error page of the hosting company. I want to either delete all the previous data from the search engines or have an 404 Error page of my own so that I can tell my visitors where the actual website is. I have already redirected all the traffic which comes to rohbits.com to www.rohbits.com/blog but when they click on the expired links, they get this error page. One sample expired link is this one: http://rohbits.com/wordpress-tricks.

• IIS isn't propagating domain

  I called Godaddy and 'verified' my settings for the two ips were correct. ns1.asezo.com = xx.xx.xx.15 ns2.asezo.com = xx.xx.xx.16 then I set the nameserver of asezo.com to the ns1/ns2 above, which Godaddy tech support says is right. When I try to visit my site, it says Oops! Google Chrome could not find asezo.com. When I try to ping the website, it gives me a time out. I have the bindings in IIS for the default website as: http - xx.xx.xx.15 - 80 www.asezo.com and http - xx.xx.xx.15 - 80 asezo.com And I'm still getting nothing. I can go directly to the ip http://xx.xx.xx.15/ and it gives me the IIS default website, I just can't get the url to propagate. What am I doing wrong?

  As we all know Google treat sub-domain as completely separate domain so we have to fight for both, to get ranked in search results. Right! So one of my client website was like they having "example.com" and "Blog.example.com". So in mind to keep all stuff in one place we redirect "blog.example.com" to "example.com/blog/" But in this case we where loose our pagerank and still wondering where we went wrong or it just take few more time to showoff. so what is the reason behind this will be. • How to interpret Events from Unique Events in Google Analytics?

  I'm trying to add some javascript triggered Google Analytics events to a website that is already working with GA. I've included the following beneath the standard GA script (new ga.js script). _gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'Downloads', 'Extension']); Which seems to be working ok, but the results listed in the Events Overview report (after waiting 24 hours), don't make sense. • Using Mod_Rewrite To Block Referrer Based On Domain Extenstion?

  I've been in web development for several years now (I'm a student web designer), and recently, I've begun to experiment with mod_rewrite for things like URL shortening. I was wondering, is it possible to block a referrer by domain extension, instead of just by full site, etc.? So, instead of RewriteEngine on # Options +FollowSymlinks RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} examplesite\.com [NC] RewriteRule .* - [F] could you do RewriteEngine on # Options +FollowSymlinks RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} \.com [NC] RewriteRule .* - [F] without the full domain name? Thanks. I'm fairly knowledgeable about other web dev / hosting topics, but mod_rewrite is new to me and Google wasn't helping.

• Point an external domain to a shared hosting website

  I bought a domain from a seller (GoDaddy), and wish to point it at a shared hosting website (ASmallOrange). Googling tells me it's fairly straightforward: Step 1: On the external domain's DNS, configure two NS records for the two nameservers of the hosting service. Step 2: Wait 2-48 hours. I'm puzzled because it can't be that simple. I've told the DNS where to look, but since it's shared hosting, the hosting service needs to know what site to point the domain to. And indeed, after I've performed the above steps, visiting the domain leads me to a generic message from the shared hosting service. Okay, so I have to configure the DNS on the hosting service, right? The service I use (ASmallOrange) uses cPanel. What I tried is to set up a Parked Domain for the externally bought domain; when I go into the Advanced DNS Zone Editor, sure enough, the DNS for the external domain shows up as something I can configure. Yet, visiting the externally registered domain still points me to the generic shared server page. I'm convinced I'm doing something wrong. Could someone debug my thought process? Or perhaps offer alternate solutions? Right now, I'm considering trying to set up a CNAME record on the external domain to point to the domain I registered through the shared host -- but I have a vague impression that this is bad practice.

• 3 column layout with css display table, with first row having multiple rows?

  I am working on a new website which: Has 3 columns - Each Column being a cell First column has 3 rows (Logo, Nav, icons) - Has a Div with display: table which wraps arround 3 divs with display:table-row. Other two columns only have 1 row. With the middle column being the content area. However since this is my first time using display:table, I am running into some things that aren't so clear to me. I was trying to avoid floating divs. If I need multiple rows with one cell in each row per column, do I embed each cell in a row or just create each row and not declare cells. I understand that browsers automatically create the missing elements but I want to make sure I do this properly to avoid any side effects that might occur due to the browser automatically creating the missing elements. Edit: I think my brain is just over worked, I guess I can accomplish this by just using 3 divs in the first column instead of using a nested table div with the rows. This just popped into my head.

• Vanilla forum personal journal tool

  I am developing a forum for a research project, i am using Vanilla forum (though i am not tied to this yet). Another feature of this site will be a personal journal/diary/blog. Only the user and administrators will have access to the journal. The journal does not need any advanced features. Does anybody have any suggestions on software/script that could easily be integrated with Vanilla forum for this purpose? My first thought was using Wordpress but it is a bit to complex to adminstrate as the site is meant to be simple. And i dont really see how it can be intregrated easily the way i want it.

• MCrypt Module, Rijndael-256

  An outside company is redoing our company Intranet. During some basic usage I disovered that the "User Edit" screens, with the "Password: *" boxes have the password in plain text, with the text box "type=password" to "hide" the password. The passwords are not store in the database as plain text, they are stored encrypted using "rijndael-256" cypher using the mcrypt module. I know that if I encrypt a password with SHA*, the password is "Unrecoverable" via one-way encryption. Is the same of MCrypt Rijndael-256 encryption? Shouldn't an encrypted password be un-recoverable? Are they blowing smoke up my rear or just using the wrong technology?

• SEO and internal links

  I'm fairly new to SEO and although I've read many articles on the topic I still don't have a clear idea of how to get my client's website get to the first page of Google Search. I run MOZ competitor analysis and see that a competitor that comes up at the top of Google Search has approximately same Domain Authority, Domain Moz Rank and Trust. They have 8 External Linking Root Domains while my client's site has five. Yet the competitor comes up as one of the top sites on the first page, and my client's side is on page #3. Then I noticed one drastic difference in competitor's ranking and that is Total Links. He has 1,388! I don't understand how this could be a positive factor in Search Engine ranking and how can they legitimately have 1,388 links (while only 14 of those are external). Another competitor who is #2 in search engine rankings has 773 links total with only 14 external links. It seems fishy, but yet there they are - at the top of the search engine results. Is that some current way to trick Search Engines? What to do if I'd like to get my client's website onto the first page by some legitimate means? Thanks.

• Hosting files with support for file tagging / keywords

  I have a large (approx. 25GB) collection of files I would like to host online for people to view or download. I have a spare computer I can use as a dedicated server for these files. I'm looking for a method of, or piece of software for, hosting my files where I can assign tags or keywords to the files, and people viewing my files online can search the collection via the tags. By way of approximate solutions I've found so far, I see that there is software such as Collectorz.com or Readerware for creating databases of one's books / music / movies, and these databases can be searched by tags or keywords, and the databases can be made available and searchable online; this would suit my purposes except that my files are not necessarily books, music, or movies, and I want the files themselves accessible online, not a database describing my files. A commercially-available solution like the ones above would be acceptable, but I'd prefer to have the whole setup under my control (i.e. I'd like to either implement it by hand, or use commercial software that doesn't rely on using the company's servers, paying them a continued fee, etc.). The current extent of my internet experience is designing a few Google Sites, so I know there's a fair chance I won't understand the answers I receive, but I'm always happy to have a summer project :)

• Read data from a folder in main domain folder (CPanel\WHM)

  I have defined a host in my CPanel\WHM server and put all my websites under one host account. The host Main Domain is domain.com, and all other websites are Add-on Domains: domain.com --folder --domain1 --domain2 --domain3 ... The thing I need is that when calling domain.com in browser, the server read files from another folder. for example when call http://domain.com it shows us http://domain.com/folder BUT I don't mean a redirection, I want server do this in background without showing visitors the real path. I couldn't do this with Domain WildCard Redirection because it got error. How can I do this? With htaccess or ... ?

  Within Webmaster Tools I have supplied my test content: User-agent: * Disallow:/admin/ Disallow: /tag/ When I specify the URL to test against, for example: http://www.site.com/tag/ It gives me this result: "Allowed: Detected as a directory; specific files may have different restrictions" As far as I know I have set this up correctly, shouldn't Google be saying that the /tag/ directory is "disallowed"?

  I control a subpage of a site: economics.university.edu/summerschool I have access to CNAME, etc. However I want to use Google sites to create the site and then map the URL above to my Google site. In other words, someone on the university site that navigated to the summer school page would be redirected to the Google site transparently. However I keep getting this error from Google: "The format of the web address is unsupported." Is this possible?

• Can I use a 302 redirect to serve up static content from an URL with escaped_fragment?

  We would like to serve up SEO-friendly Ajax-driven content. We are following this documentation. Has anyone ever tried to write a 302 redirect into the .htaccess file, that takes the ?_escaped_fragment= string and send that to a static page?, for example /snapshot/yourfilename/. How will Google react to this? I've gone through the documentation and it's not very clear. The below quote is from Google's documentation this is what I find. I'm not sure if they are saying that you can redirect the _escaped_fragment_ URL to a different static page, or if this is to redirect the hashtag URL to static content? Thoughts? From Google's site: Question: Can I use redirects to point the crawler at my static content? Redirects are okay to use, as long as they eventually get you to a page that's equivalent to what the user would see on the #! version of the page. This may be more convenient for some webmasters than serving up the content directly. If you choose this approach, please keep the following in mind: Compared to serving the content directly, using redirects will result in extra traffic because the crawler has to follow redirects to get the content. This will result in a somewhat higher number of fetches/second in crawl activity. Note that if you use a permanent (301) redirect, the url shown in our search results will typically be the target of the redirect, whereas if a temporary (302) redirect is used, we'll typically show the #! url in search results.   With backlinkwatch.com I can get a list of pages that link to a particular website. Unfortunately, it lists tons of obscure blogs and small forums, it has hard to find what link is really important. Is there a similar service, where links would be displayed sorted by "importance"? For instance, a link New York Times would be shown at the top of the list, while links in small blogs would not appear before a few pages. "Importance" can be subjective, so I suggest using the PageRank, but other metrics could be fine too.

  What's the best way to deliver super slow-motion video to the browser? This seems to me to be a special case, because with super slow-mo video (such as 10,000 frames per second) the visual difference from frame to frame is minimal. As such, it's easy to compress highly. Please suggest codecs, as well as encoding software, backend software, software configuration tips, and services like youtube. I've just purchased a web hosting account with provider B and want to move my site there.   As in the subject-line. Saw the situation the other day on a page which felt weird to me. Except for markup-delimiting characters such as pointy brackets or the ampersand, escaping, say, German umlauts shouldn't be necessary, should it? Checked the encoding server-side, in-page and by way of HTTP headers, looks completely UTF-8 to me. What's your take on this and do you reckon it could adversely affect SEO or SERP placement?the page

  I am trying to make available on my website a voice chat for a small group of people that allows some other means to interact such as text messaging, photo sharing, file sharing, simple drawing and silly games. In other words, something similar to older MSN Messenger, but on the web. Any ideas on what to use? To clarify, I am looking for suggestions on languages and libraries to use. I want to be able to fully customize it as much as possible because I might want to add other (somewhat interesting) functions later. Low-level programming is fine if required, but platform dependency isn't that much preferred.
