  • dynamically embedding youtube videos with jquery

    - by danwoods
    Hello all, I'm trying to retrieve a listing of a user's youtube videos and embed them in a page using jQuery. My code looks something like this: $(document).ready(function() { //some variables var fl_obj_template = $('<object width="260" height="140">' + '<param name="movie" value=""></param>' + '<param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param>' + '<param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param>' + '<embed src="" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="260" height="140"></embed>' + '</object>'); var video_elm_arr = $('.video'); //hide videos until ready $('.video').addClass('hidden'); //pull video data from youtube $.ajax({ url: 'http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/username/uploads?alt=json', dataType: 'jsonp', success: function(data) { $.each(data.feed.entry, function(i,item){ //only take the first 7 videos if(i > 6) return; //give the video element a flash object var cur_flash_obj = fl_obj_template; //assign title $(video_elm_arr[i]).find('.video_title').html(item.title.$t); //clean url var video_url = item.media$group.media$content[0].url; var index = video_url.indexOf("?"); if (index > 0) video_url = video_url.substring(0, index); //and asign it to the player's parameters $(cur_flash_obj).find('object param[name="movie"]').attr('value', video_url); $(cur_flash_obj).find('object embed').attr('src', video_url); //alert(cur_flash_obj); //insert flash object in video element $(video_elm_arr[i]).append(cur_flash_obj); //and show $(video_elm_arr[i]).removeClass('hidden'); }); } }); }); (of course with 'username' being the actual username). The video titles appear correctly but no videos show up. What gives? The target html looks like: <div id="top_row_center" class="video_center video"> <p class="video_title"></p> </div>

  • Find next and previous link in a hierarchy

    - by rebellion
    I have a hierarchy with links nested in list element like this: <ul> <li><a href="#">Page 1</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">Page 1.1</a></li> <li><a href="#">Page 1.2</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">Page 1.2.1</a></li> <li><a href="#">Page 1.2.2</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#">Page 1.3</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#">Page 2</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">Page 2.1</a></li> <li><a href="#">Page 2.2</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#">Page 3</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">Page 3.1</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">Page 3.1.1</a></li> <li><a href="#">Page 3.1.2</a></li> </ul> <li><a href="#">Page 3.2</a></li> <li><a href="#">Page 3.3</a></li> <ul> <li><a href="#">Page 3.1.1</a></li> <li><a href="#">Page 3.1.2</a></li> </ul> </li> </ul> </li> </ul> Basically just a sitemap. But I want to make next and previous links with jQuery, which finds the active page you're on (probably by checking for a class), and finding the previous and next anchor element (taking no regards of the hierarchy). I've tried with next(), previous() and find() but can't seem to get it to work. What is the easiest way to get the anchor elements before and after the current one?

  • How to specify the image scaling algorithm used by a WPF Image?

    - by mackenir
    Is there a way to specify how an image is scaled up in an Image element with LayoutTransform set to a ScaleTransform with integer values for ScaleX and ScaleY? I want to display the scaled image crisply (ie using 'nearest neighbour' scaling), with no blurring. (Imagine how you would want a bitmap editing program to behave when zooming in). I noticed the protected property VisualBitmapScalingMode on Image, so created a subclass of Image that sets this property to BitmapScalingMode.NearestNeighbor. However, this had no effect.

  • How to make Dropdown menu using :hover on <a> in place of hover on <ul>?

    - by metal-gear-solid
    IE 6 only support :Hover on <a> then can we make css drop down using :hover on <a> http://htmldog.com/articles/suckerfish/dropdowns/ This example use JavaScript to add hover on LI 'sfhover' class to li elements in the 'nav' id'd ul element when they are 'moused over' and removes it, using a regular expression, when 'moused out'. So now we've got the Suckerfish pumping out new classes, the next step is to simply duplicate the :hover selector with 'sfhover' class selectors:

  • Changing CSS before pageload with Greasemonkey

    - by JP
    I need to hide an element on the page using greasemonkey before it loads (so that it's never visible). At the moment I'm @requireing jQuery 1.3.2 which I'm reasonably familiar with, but I'm unsure how it interacts with greasemonkey so I don't know how to pull this off! Many thanks, JP

  • How to use Spanish characters in Handlebars templates

    - by Jon Rose
    I am wondering what the idiomatic way to render special language characters is using Handlebars.js templates. When I render the normal html I can use something like the Spanish lowercase e, &#233, and it renders as expected. When I pass the same text as a string to my Handlebars template I just see the characters &#233. I have tried creating a Handlebars helper that used jquery to render the text using .html() then returning the .html() of the tmp element and I get the same results.

  • Test assertions for tuples with floats

    - by Space_C0wb0y
    I have a function that returns a tuple that, among others, contains a float value. Usually I use assertAlmostEquals to compare those, but this does not work with tuples. Also, the tuple contains other data-types as well. Currently I am asserting every element of the tuple individually, but that gets too much for a list of such tuples. Is there any good way to write assertions for such cases?

    - by patrick
    I'd like to attach a handler to an element using either jQuery live() or delegate(). Looking at the docs I see I can attach the handler for a custom event. Is this possible for either of these jQuery functions to also trigger the handler? Basically I want to attach the handler function and run call it once. Thank you for any help.

    not sure why this program isn't working. it compiles, but doesn't provide the expected output. the input file is basically just this: Smith 80000 Jones 100000 Scott 75000 Washington 110000 Duffy 125000 Jacobs 67000 Here is the program: import java.io.File; import java.io.FileNotFoundException; import java.util.Scanner; /** * * @author Leslie */ public class Election { /** * @param args the command line arguments */ public static void main(String[] args) throws FileNotFoundException { // TODO code application logic here File inputFile = new File("C:\\Users\\Leslie\\Desktop\\votes.txt"); Scanner in = new Scanner(inputFile); int x = 0; String line = ""; Scanner lineScanner = new Scanner(line); line = in.nextLine(); while (in.hasNextLine()) { line = in.nextLine(); x++; } String[] senatorName = new String[x]; int[] votenumber = new int[x]; double[] votepercent = new double[x]; System.out.printf("%44s", "Election Results for State Senator"); System.out.println(); System.out.printf("%-22s", "Candidate"); //Prints the column headings to the screen System.out.printf("%22s", "Votes Received"); System.out.printf("%22s", "%of Total Votes"); int i; for(i=0; i<x; i++) { while(in.hasNextLine()) { line = in.nextLine(); String candidateName = lineScanner.next(); String candidate = candidateName.trim(); senatorName[i] = candidate; int votevalue = lineScanner.nextInt(); votenumber[i] = votevalue; } } votepercent = percentages(votenumber, x); for (i = 0; i < x; i++) { System.out.println(); System.out.printf("%-22s", senatorName[i]); System.out.printf("%22d", votenumber[i]); System.out.printf("%22.2f", votepercent[i]); System.out.println(); } } public static double [] percentages(int[] votenumber, int z) { double [] percentage = new double [z]; double total = 0; for (double element : votenumber) { total = total + element; } for(int i=0; i < votenumber.length; i++) { int y = votenumber[i]; percentage[i] = (y/total) * 100; } return percentage; } }

  • Representing xml through a single class

    - by Charles
    I am trying to abstract away the difficulties of configuring an application that we use. This application takes a xml configuration file and it can be a bit bothersome to manually edit this file, especially when we are trying to setup some automatic testing scenarios. I am finding that reading xml is nice, pretty easy, you get a network of element nodes that you can just go through and build your structures quite nicely. However I am slowly finding that the reverse is not quite so nice. I want to be able to build a xml configuration file through a single easy to use interface and because xml is composed of a system of nodes I am having a lot of struggle trying to maintain the 'easy' part. Does anyone know of any examples or samples that easily and intuitively build xml files without declaring a bunch of element type classes and expect the user to build the network themselves? For example if my desired xml output is like so <cook version="1.1"> <recipe name="chocolate chip cookie"> <ingredients> <ingredient name="flour" amount="2" units="cups"/> <ingredient name="eggs" amount="2" units="" /> <ingredient name="cooking chocolate" amount="5" units="cups" /> </ingredients> <directions> <direction name="step 1">Preheat oven</direction> <direction name="step 2">Mix flour, egg, and chocolate</direction> <direction name="step 2">bake</direction> </directions> </recipe> <recipe name="hot dog"> ... How would I go about designing a class to build that network of elements and make one easy to use interface for creating recipes? Right now I have a recipe object, an ingredient object, and a direction object. The user must make each one, set the attributes in the class and attach them to the root object which assembles the xml elements and outputs the formatted xml. Its not very pretty and I just know there has to be a better way. I am using python so bonus points for pythonic solutions

  • how do I make my submenu position dynamic based on the distance to the edge of the window?

    - by Mario Antoci
    I'm trying to write a jQuery script that will find the distance to the right edge of the browser window from my css class element and then position the child submenu dropdowns to the right or left depending on the available space to the right. Also it needs to revert to the default settings on hoverout. Here is what I have so far but it's not calculating properly. $(document).ready(function(){ $('#dnnMenu .subLevel').hover(function(){ if ($(window).width() - $('#dnnMenu .subLevel').offset().left - '540' >= '270') { $('#dnnMenu .subLevelRight').css('left', '270px');} else {$('#dnnMenu .subLevelRight').css('left', '-270px');} }); $(document).ready(function () { function HoverOver() { $(this).addClass('hover'); } function HoverOut() { $(this).removeClass('hover'); } var config = { sensitivity: 2, interval: 100, over: HoverOver, timeout: 100, out: HoverOut }; $("#dnnMenu .topLevel > li.haschild").hoverIntent(config); $(".subLevel li.haschild").hover(HoverOver, HoverOut); }); Basically I tried to take the width of the current window, minus the distance to the left edge of the browser of the first level submenu, minus the width of both elements together which would equal 540px, to calculate the distance to the right edge of the window when the first level submenu is hovered over. if the distance to the right of my first level submenu element is less than 540px then the second level sub menu css property is changed to position to the left instead of right. I also know that it needs to revert back to default after hover out so it can recalculate the distance from other positions within the menu structure and still have those second level submenus with enough room to still display on the right of the first level. here is css for the elements in question. #dnnMenu .subLevel{ display: none; position: absolute; margin: 0; z-index: 1210; background: #639ec8; text-transform: none;} #dnnMenu .subLevelRight{ position: absolute; display: none; left: 270px; top: 0px;} The site's not live yet and I tried to create a jsfiddle but it doesn't look right. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Best Regards, Mario

  • update text on click of date with jQuery UI datepicker

    - by stevoyoung
    I have two related questions... How do I update an HTML element (let's say a p tag) with the correct date when I click on a day in the jQuery UI datepicker plug in? If I have another way to selecte a date aside from the datepicker, how do I then update the datepicker's selected date (it's adds a class of "ui-state-active" to the date)?

  • Trying to implement a method that can compare any two lists but it always returns false

    - by Tyler Pfaff
    Hello like the title says I'm trying to make a method that can compare any two lists for equality. I'm trying to compare them in a way that validates that every element of one list has the same value as every element of another list. My Equals method below always returns false, can anyone see why that is? Thank you! using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Threading.Tasks; public class IEnumerableComparer<T> : IEqualityComparer<IEnumerable<T>> { public bool Equals(IEnumerable<T> x, IEnumerable<T> y) { for(int i = 0; i<x.Count();i++){ if(!Object.Equals(x.ElementAt(i), y.ElementAt(i))){ return false; } } return true; } public int GetHashCode(IEnumerable<T> obj) { if (obj == null) return 0; return unchecked(obj.Select(e => e.GetHashCode()).Aggregate(0, (a, b) => a + b)); } } Here is my data I'm using to test this Equals method. static void Main(string[] args) { Car car1 = new Car(); car1.make = "Toyota"; car1.model = "xB"; Car car2 = new Car(); car2.make = "Toyota"; car2.model = "xB"; List<Car> l1 = new List<Car>(); List<Car> l2 = new List<Car>(); l1.Add(car1); l2.Add(car2); IEnumerableComparer<Car> seq = new IEnumerableComparer<Car>(); bool b = seq.Equals(l1, l2); Console.Write(b); //always says false Console.Read(); } } Car class class Car { public String make { get; set; } public String model { get; set; } }

  • Keep div:hover open when changing nested select box

    - by JMC Creative
    This is an IE-only problem. .toolTip becomes visible when it's parent element is :hovered over. Inside of .toolTip is a select box. When the user opens the select box to make a selection, the parent element is being "un-hovered", if you will. To put it another way, when I try to select something from the dropdown, the whole thing hides itself again. I'm sure it has something to do with the way IE interprets the stylesheet, but I don't know what or where. Here is some relevant code (edited for clarity): #toolBar .toolTip { position: absolute; display:none; background: #fff; line-height: 1em; font-size: .8em; min-width: 300px; bottom: 47px; left: -5px; padding: 0 ; } #toolBar div:hover .toolTip { display:block; } and <div id="toolBar"> <div class="socialIcon"> <a href=""><img src="/im/social/nytimes.png" alt="NY Times Bestsellers" /></a> <span class="toolTip"> <h1>NY Times Bestsellers Lists</h1> <div id="nyTimesBestsellers"> <?php include('/ny-times-bestseller-feed.php') ?> </div> <p><img src="/im/social/nytimes.png" alt="NY Times Bestseller Lists" /> Change List <select id="nyTimesChangeCurrentList" name="nyTimesChangeCurrentList"> <option value="hardcover-fiction">Hardcover Fiction</option> <option value="hardcover-nonfiction">Hardcover Nonfiction</option> <option value="hardcover-advice">Hardcover Advice</option> </select> </p> </span> </div> </div>
