It is an online game, I need to develop a 'Launch' button on the game site to launch the client side game. I have seen this in several online games like this one.
How can this be done?
Note: I am using ASP.NET to develop the website.
I am having a hard time to find out which font is used by the Win 7 File Explorer in the tree view on the left hand side. Better, of course, would be if I can programmatically find out which the right font is (C#).
I searched the Windows 7 design guidelines but this particular scenario is not listed (at least I couldn't find it).
So anyone good with fonts?
Take a look at http://www.pmverge.com at the "We're in Bootstrap Mode" DIV on the right-hand side. Having that background tile image is causing the IE browser (all versions) to drag when scrolling. What can I do to keep that tiled style but not have it slow down IE.
background-image: url(http://blog.pmverge.com/assets/images/background.gif)
NOTES
Yes this is the Stackoverflow.com
engine as I'm licensing it.
The background watermark image is
not slowing the page down (though it has about 50k).

Is there any plugin to some IDE that show the number of times a line is run in the code?
Eclipse's ECLemma does not seem to have a setting to show execution times at the left-hand-side bar, like in the service WebCat.
As someone who is interested in learning more about the security side of technology, I ask you all the following questions:
How is it that crackers crack software? What techniques are used to do so? I would imagine that the cracking methods depend upon the language the software is written in, right? Aside from using something like cloud-based security for SaaS ((software as a service) which isn't always an option), what choices does one have to prevent their software from being compromised?
We use Captcha control in a registration form that we make full client validation for all fields in JavaScript ( JQuery ) beside server validation ..
I tried a lot of ways but all will write the Captcha value in JavaScript that can be accessed by anyone :(
I search if is there any way that allow me validate Captcha value in client side using JQuery in secure way or it can't be done ?
I am making a simple text and script editor with code highlighting. For that I use a RichTextBox. But I don't know how to make it show the lines' numbers on the left side, like in VS or Notepad++. Is there any solution?
Should I create my own End-User Software License (with a lawyer), or are there some good examples of one on the Internet?
I'm getting close to rolling out my first Windows-based program for my side-business. I would like to have the end-users to agree not to: resell the software, change/modify it, use it in another application, etc.
Any and all help appreciated!
Thanks!

Hello
On a very first access to a website, is it possible to know if browser cookies are activated thanks to the GET request?
Is it possible particularly in a J2EE context? On the server side (no ajax/js solution)
Hi,
I know how to keep a connection indifinetely open server side to stream continuously data to javascript.
BUT
I do not know how to send data reusing the same TCP from browser to server.
so there is not the 3 way handshake and only 2 tcp packets.
I know it is possible but I do not how to do it : use xmlhttprequest? or script tag ajax ?
can you tell me how to do it.
thank you very much
How do you decide on which side you perform your data manipulation when you can either do it in the code or in the query ?
When you need to display a date in a specific format for example. Do you retrieve the desired format directly in the sql query or you retrieve the date then format it through the code ?
What helps you to decide : performance, best practice, preference in SQL vs the code language, complexity of the task... ?
I'm not asking about converting a LaTeX document to html.
What I'd like to be able to do is have some way to use LaTeX math commands in an html document, and have it appear correctly in a browser. This could be done server or client side.
As a side-project I'm trying to create an app that scans license plates from passing cars from my living-room window.
I have hooked up a high resolution camera to my system to capture (moving) images into my c# app. Now all I need is a way to interpret these images into something readable.
I´m thinking about some sort of OCR-solution that is fast/accurate enough for moving images.
Hope you can give me some direction!
I've tried many jQuery twitter feed plugins and they all seem to suffer from the same problem. Nothing loads for unless I refresh several times and then it will load once. I then need to refresh several more times before it loads again.
Is there some sort of limitation on Twitters side or does this only happen to me?
Example - This is the test site but it is basically ready to go live except for this issue.
I'm using ImageMagick's convert tool to generate image thumbnails for a web application. I'm using notation like so: 600x600>
The images are indeed scaled to 600px wide/tall (depending on the longer side) and proportions are properly maintained, however images less than 600px in either direction are scaled up — this behavior is not desired. Is there a way to prevent convert from scaling images up if the destination dimensions both exceed the original image size?
On button click I have the simple jQuery post:
$(document).ready(function() {
$.post("/cgi-bin/stats.exe");
});
However, nothing seems to go through to the server side. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Does anyone know how to check in ASP.NET (C#) if Facebook is scraping a page? I'd like to be able to check on the server side if the "browser" hitting the page is actually Facebook (e.g. when it grabs details when a user is attempting to share a link).
I want to do something like this
$.get('/Controller/Action/', { model : null }, function(data) {});
Unfortunatelly it doesn't work. In server side the value of the model is {object}.
How do I get null?
Hi,
I am integrating Pure spell checker on my rich text box. The way it currently works is that it puts the cylinder object on the page in an Iframe. I want that to read from a file and the file will be located at server side. Anyone with any clue please help
Thanks
I'm starting a blog with a hosted wordpress instance and i would like to be able to stream music using a flash player on some posts.
The problem is that every player i find uses a simple param to get the file url which makes it very easy for someone to find that url and just download the file.
A server side solution can be implemented as i have full access to the server.
Hi,
Is it possible to hold an open TCP connection with a client, while the IP address of the client is externally changed?
For example, the connection is establishes against address X, but somewhen while the connection is open, the client-side user asks for IP renew and gets another IP address. Can the connection remains alive in this case?
Thanks in advance.
