• Does SQL Server 2005 error message numbers back to the asp.net application?

  I'd like to get the message number and severity level information from SQL Server upon execution of an erroneous query. For example, when a user attempts to delete a row being referenced by another record, and the cascade relationship is "no action", I'd like the application to be able to check for error message 547 ("The DELETE statement conflicted with the REFERENCE constraint...") and return a user friendly and localized message to the user. When running such a query directly on SQL Server, the following message is printed: Msg 547, Level 16, State 0, Line 1 <Error message...> In an Asp.Net app is this information available in an event handler parameter or elsewhere? Also, I don't suppose anyone knows where I can find a definitive reference of SQL Server message numbers?

  I'm looking for detailed informations regarding the size of basic C++ types. I know that it depends on the architecture (16 bits, 32 bits, 64 bits) and the compiler. But are there any standards ? I'm using Visual Studio 2008 on a 32 bit achitecture. Here is what I get : char : 1 byte short : 2 bytes int : 4 bytes long : 4 bytes float : 4 bytes double : 8 bytes I tried to find, without much success, reliable informations telling the sizes of char, short, int , long, double, float (and other types I don't think of) under different architecture and compiler.

• DBCC CHECKDB WITH DATA_PURITY gives out of range error

  Hi there, I have restore a SQL Server 2000 database onto SQL Server 2005 and then run DBCC CHECKDB WITH DATA_PURITY and I get this error: Msg 2570, Level 16, State 3, Line 2 Page (1:19558), slot 13 in object ID 181575685, index ID 1, partition ID 293374720802816, alloc unit ID 11899744092160 (type "In-row data"). Column "NumberOfShares" value is out of range for data type "numeric". Update column to a legal value. The column NumberOfShares is a numeric (19,6) data type. If I run the following select max (NumberOfShares) from AUDIT_Table select min (NumberOfShares) from AUDIT_Table I get: 22678647.839110 -1845953000.000000 These values are inside the bounds of a numeric (19,6) so I'm not sure why the DBCC check fails. Any ideas to find out why it fails? Do I need to use DBCC PAGE? How would you troubleshoot this? Thanks, Mark.

  I'm following the tuto: http://zetcode.com/tutorials/gtktutorial/firstprograms/ It works but each time I double click on the executable,there is a console which I don't want it there. How do I get rid of that console? I tried this: add_executable(Cmd WIN32 cmd.c) But got this fatal error: MSVCRTD.lib(crtexew.obj) : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _WinMain@16 referenced in function ___tmainCRTStartup Cmd.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 1 unresolved externals While using gcc directly works: gcc -o Cmd cmd.c -mwindows .. I'm guessing it has something to do with the entry function: int main( int argc, char *argv[]),but why gcc works? How can I make it work with cmake?

There is no fixed number of these emails and later i have to have possibility to extend this list. //construktor prototype Email::Email(vector<string> bcc) So i want to use type vector or list for that and function push_back(). How can i make a new instance with bcc emails? I need actually declaration with definition for my list. I've found this definition with iterator for integer type: int myints[] = {16,2,77,29}; Email myEmail(vector<int> (myints, myints + sizeof(myints) / sizeof(int) )); , but its not very user friend and i need it with strings.   I'm trying to add UUIDs to a couple of tables, but I'm not sure what the best way to store/retrieve these would be. I understand it's far more efficient to use BINARY(16) instead of VARCHAR(36). After doing a bit of research, I also found that you can convert a UUID string to binary with: UNHEX(REPLACE(UUID(),'-','')) Pardon my ignorance, but is there an easy way to this with PHP and then turn it back to a string, when needed, for readability? Also, would it make much difference if I used this as a primary key instead of auto_increment? EDIT: Found part of the answer: $bin = pack("h*", str_replace('-', '', $guid)); How would you unpack it?

I use UNC path in package. package is scheduled using sql agent job. Job worked fine for 1 week and suddenly started giving error "The file name "\\124.0.48.173\basel2\Commercial\Input\ACBS_GSU.csv" specified in the connection was not valid. • Problems with IRQs when connecting two digium card in and asterisk box

  I have two Digium Wildcard TDM800P with 8 FXO ports each. When I connect both at the same time IRQ misses start showing up making my computer unresponsive and unusable. One card works fine but I need all 16 FXO ports to work to receive calls from my Telco. Is there a way for the cards to communicate with each other so they don't generate as many interrupts. Or a way to tweak Linux to dedicate separate IRQ's for each card. I have tried disabling Audio, ACPI and USB ports. Still too many IRQ misses.

• Using Array Variables For FILE_GET_CONTENTS

  I have a script all done now and everything has been debugged and it works, except for the last hurdle. This script grabs pertinent information on bank web sites, takes that data and uses it to populate a template and then it's all posted to Wordpress - BUT I get an error because the file_get_contents function fails taking each url from the Array. • Creating a "mountable" File System, where to start?

  A friend and I are thinking about creating a simple file system for learning purposes. We're going to write it in C/C++, and try to get it to a mountable state from within linux. We've both been coding or over 16 years (32 combined), so I suppose its just a matter of finding some documentation, and a ton of learning. My question is, where could I find out more information? (Documentation for creating a file system, requirements of mounting a file system in linux, etc) Where do we start? Edit: I should also mention, this would not be a boot-able file system, just a file system used for storage, though I am not too sure if that matters or not.

  I have a table of names and addresses, which includes a postcode column. I want to strip the spaces from the postcodes and select any that match a particular pattern. I'm trying this (simplified a bit) in T-SQL on SQL Server 2005: SELECT Replace(Postcode, ' ', '') AS P FROM Contacts WHERE P LIKE 'NW101%' But I get the following error; Msg 207, Level 16, State 1, Line 3 Invalid column name 'P'. If I remove the WHERE clause I get a list of postcodes without spaces, which is what I want to search. How should I approach this? What am I doing wrong?

• How to make javascript for font sizes fully language dependent?

  Hello All I have a multilanguage webiste English and Arabic. The javascript for the fontsizes is included in the theme not in the .css. Both language have different fontsize 16 and 12. When switching from English to Arabic the English letters such as ( dates and stuff like that ) are shown way too big. And when switching from English to Arabic the arabic letters are too small. • Can't change Emacs's default indentation between HTML tags

  I'm confused about the Emacs indentation paradigm. I have this in my .emacs file: (setq-default tab-width 4) If I press TAB in the following situation <ul> (caret) </ul> it end up like this <ul> (caret) </ul> (with 2 spaces indentation between the HTML tags.) It should end up like this: <ul> (caret) </ul> I tried everything: (setq-default tab-width 4) (setq-default indent-tabs-mode t) (setq tab-stop-list '(4 8 12 16)) I've set every possible Emacs setting about indentation to 4 but that 2 space indentation is still there. Any suggestions?

I was trying to use .hide() and .show() instead of .remove() but it doesn't seem to work on IE6 at least.

  Anyone know of a project(s) that seek to abstract form definitions on level higher than WPF, Silverlight, Winforms, WebForms, etc... I'm working on a project where we are fixing up 16 somewhat simple WebForms. But we may convert (and probably will convert to WPF or Silverlight 3 to 4 months from now. I'd rather define these forms once and be done with it. I'm willing to write a small DSL to help define forms, subforms, validation, links, and popups. I'm only looking to solve this for 80% or 90% of the forms. Four are very complicated and I'm willing to hand code these. I guess I'm looking for something like what XUL had hoped to be.

• help me understand cuda

  i am having some troubles understanding threads in NVIDIA gpu architecture with cuda. please could anybody clarify these info: an 8800 gpu has 16 SMs with 8 SPs each. so we have 128 SPs. i was viewing stanford's video presentation and it was saying that every SP is capable of running 96 threads cuncurrently. does this mean that it (SP) can run 96/32=3 warps concurrently? moreover, since every SP can run 96 threads and we have 8 SPs in every SM. does this mean that every SM can run 96*8=768 threads concurrently?? but if every SM can run a single Block at a time, and the maximum number of threads in a block is 512, so what is the purpose of running 768 threads concurrently and have a max of 512 threads? a more general question is:how are blocks,threads,and warps distributed to SMs and SPs? i read that every SM gets a single block to execute at a time and threads in a block is divided into warps (32 threads), and SPs execute warps.
