  • Convert Doxygen to XML comments

    - by jmster
We have a C# project which for historical reasons uses both Doxygen and Visual Studio style comments in the same code. Has anyone tried to systematically translate one standard to another, preferably to the common XML subset? I guess it would not be too difficult to write a script to cover the most common features, but I would not like to reinvent the wheel.

  • Aptana generating strange error.

    - by RPK
I just added PDT plugin to Aptana Studio 2.0. When I create a new PHP project and add a blank PHP file, Aptana displays following strange error. I am not following from where it is fetching this "Job Title" thing when I have not added anything in my PHP project.

  • FxCop for .NET 4.0

    - by Jim McKeeth
I know Visual Studio 2010 has a new Code Analysis tool built in, but that is only for the premium and ultimate editions. From what I can see the latest FxCop supports .NET 3.5 SP1. Searching I wasn't able to find any references to an FxCop for .NET 4.0. Is there plans to continue to offer FxCop and for it to support .NET 4.0? Where would I find more information about it and download it?

  • Migrating ASP.NET (MVC 2) on .NET 3.5 over to .NET 4 #gotchas

    - by Charlino
I've currently got a ASP.NET MVC 2 application on .NET 3.5 and I want to migrate it over to the new .NET 4.0 with Visual Studio 2010. Reason being that it's always good to stay on top of these things - plus I really like the new automatic encoding with <%: %> and clean web.config :-) So, does anyone have any experience they could share? Looking for gotchas and the likes. I guess this could also apply to any ASP.NET Forms projects aswell. TIA, Charles

  • Project References DLL version hell

    - by Mr Shoubs
We're having problems getting visual studio to pick up the latest version of a DLL from one of our projects. We have multiple class library projects (e.g. BusinessLogic, ReportData) and a number of web services, each has a reference to a Connectivity DLL we've written (this ref to the connectivity DLL is the problem). We always point references to the DLL in the bin/debug folder, (which is where we always build to for any given project) and all custom DLL references have CopyLocal = True and SpecificVersion = False ReportData has a reference to business logic (which also has a reference to connectivity - I don't see why this should cause a problem, but thought it is worth mentioning) The weird thing is, when you click "Add Reference" and browse to Connectivity/bin/debug - you hover the mouse over the DLL file, the correct (latest) version is shown (version and file version are always incremented together), but when you click ok, a previous version number is pulled though. Even when I look in the current projects debug folder (where copy local would put the DLL after compiling) that shows the latest version number. - NO WHERE does can I find the previous version of the DLL outside of visual studio, but in that project references it has the old version - even though the path is correct. I'm at a loss as to where it might be getting the old versions from. Or even why it wants that one. This is possibly the most frustraighting problem I have ever come across. Does anyone know how to ensure the latest version is pulled through (preferably automatically or on compile). EDIT: Although not exactly the scenario I'm dealing with I was reading this article and somewhere it mentions about CLR ignoring revision numbers. Understandable (even though this hasn't been a problem before - we're on revision 39), so I thought I would update the build number, still didn't work. In a vain attempt I though I would update the minor version number and see if that made any difference. I'm not saying this is the answer as I have to check quite a few things first, but on the face of it, this seems to have solved my problem... Further edit: In other class libraries this seems to have solved the problem, however in a test windows application it still pulls a previous version through :( If I increment the minor version number again, the same problem come back and I am left with the wrong version being pulled though. Further Edit - I created an entirly new project, added a reference and still had the exact same problem. This suggests the problem is restriced to the project I am referencing. Wish I knew why! Anyone had this problem before and know how to get around it? HELP!

  • Can't attach to Silverlight application with VS2010

    - by Budda
Few days ago all was ok: when I started my web-site with Silverlight 4.0 application with F5 in Visual Studio debugger was connecting to Silverlight automatically, but now it doesn't. I've tried to attach manually from "Debug"-"Attach to process" with "Attach to" option set into "Silverlight code" value. But my breakpoints are still "disabled"... Why? How can I resolve that? Thanks.

  • Problem with Gallio and TeamCity and the new Visual Studio 2010 release

    - by Bernard Larouche
I am running TeamCity on a virtual machine. I have installed the new Visual Studio 2010 release yesterday and converted my VS 2008 projects. I also have installed .NET Framework 4 on my virtual machine. Before yesterday all my projects were building succesfully on the CI server but since I installed VS 2010 I get the following error message : error MSB5014: File format version is not recognized. MSBuild can only read solution files between versions 7.0 and 9.0, inclusive. I did change my config on Team City to take into account the new .NET 4 framework : Build Runner : MSBuild Build File Path : CFT.msbuild MSBuild version : Microsoft.NET Framework 4.0 MSBuild ToolsVersion : 4.0 Run Platform : x86 I think it has something to do with the fact that now MSBuild must refer to .NET 4 framwork but it seems that it keeps refering to 2.0.

  • .net Listview control will only display largeIcon.

    - by Redshirt
I'm using the RC of visual Studio 2010. Writing a .net 3.5 application. When I launch the app, the listview control only shows in LargeIcon view. This is not the view I want. I've set the View property in the designer with no success. I've even tried to explicitly set the view during runtime lvAvailableItems.View = View.Tile; Has anyone else had this issue, and if so what was your workaround.

  • Unit testing .Net CF apps on Windows Mobile 6.5.3 in Visual Studio 2008

    - by Johann Gerell
Did anyone get that to work? I mean, unit testing .Net CF apps on Windows Mobile 6.5.3 in Visual Studio 2008. It works great for a WM 6 Pro target, but not for a WM 6.5.3 target. I get this error: The test adapter ('Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.TestTypes.Unit.UnitTestAdapter, Microsoft.VisualStudio.QualityTools.Tips.UnitTest.Adapter, Version=9.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a') required to execute this test could not be loaded. Check that the test adapter is installed properly. Not enough storage is available to process this command. Yes, I can read the error text, but I don't understand the failed run. Any clues?

  • Compile error with acml.h

    - by Aslan986
I'm having some problem compiling a Visual Studio 2008 project in which I use acml.h. I correctly installed amcl package on my computer, version 5.1.0-ifort64. I added the reference to the acml.h directory in Visual Studio Compiler Properties, but when i try to compile i get these errors: 1>C:\AMD\acml5.1.0\ifort64_mp\include\acml.h(1510) : error C2144: errore di sintassi: 'char' deve essere preceduto da ')' 1>C:\AMD\acml5.1.0\ifort64_mp\include\acml.h(1510) : error C2144: errore di sintassi: 'char' deve essere preceduto da ';' 1>C:\AMD\acml5.1.0\ifort64_mp\include\acml.h(1510) : warning C4091: '': ignorato a sinistra di 'char' quando non si dichiara alcuna variabile 1>C:\AMD\acml5.1.0\ifort64_mp\include\acml.h(1510) : error C2143: errore di sintassi: ';' mancante prima di ',' 1>C:\AMD\acml5.1.0\ifort64_mp\include\acml.h(1510) : error C2059: errore di sintassi: ',' 1>C:\AMD\acml5.1.0\ifort64_mp\include\acml.h(1510) : error C2059: errore di sintassi: ')' 1>C:\AMD\acml5.1.0\ifort64_mp\include\acml.h(1675) : error C2144: errore di sintassi: 'char' deve essere preceduto da ')' 1>C:\AMD\acml5.1.0\ifort64_mp\include\acml.h(1675) : error C2144: errore di sintassi: 'char' deve essere preceduto da ';' 1>C:\AMD\acml5.1.0\ifort64_mp\include\acml.h(1675) : warning C4091: '': ignorato a sinistra di 'char' quando non si dichiara alcuna variabile 1>C:\AMD\acml5.1.0\ifort64_mp\include\acml.h(1675) : error C2143: errore di sintassi: ';' mancante prima di ',' 1>C:\AMD\acml5.1.0\ifort64_mp\include\acml.h(1675) : error C2059: errore di sintassi: ',' 1>C:\AMD\acml5.1.0\ifort64_mp\include\acml.h(1675) : error C2059: errore di sintassi: ')' 1>C:\AMD\acml5.1.0\ifort64_mp\include\acml.h(3511) : error C2144: errore di sintassi: 'char' deve essere preceduto da ')' 1>C:\AMD\acml5.1.0\ifort64_mp\include\acml.h(3511) : error C2144: errore di sintassi: 'char' deve essere preceduto da ';' 1>C:\AMD\acml5.1.0\ifort64_mp\include\acml.h(3511) : warning C4091: '': ignorato a sinistra di 'char' quando non si dichiara alcuna variabile 1>C:\AMD\acml5.1.0\ifort64_mp\include\acml.h(3511) : error C2143: errore di sintassi: ';' mancante prima di ',' 1>C:\AMD\acml5.1.0\ifort64_mp\include\acml.h(3511) : error C2059: errore di sintassi: ',' 1>C:\AMD\acml5.1.0\ifort64_mp\include\acml.h(3511) : error C2059: errore di sintassi: ')' 1>C:\AMD\acml5.1.0\ifort64_mp\include\acml.h(3676) : error C2144: errore di sintassi: 'char' deve essere preceduto da ')' 1>C:\AMD\acml5.1.0\ifort64_mp\include\acml.h(3676) : error C2144: errore di sintassi: 'char' deve essere preceduto da ';' 1>C:\AMD\acml5.1.0\ifort64_mp\include\acml.h(3676) : warning C4091: '': ignorato a sinistra di 'char' quando non si dichiara alcuna variabile 1>C:\AMD\acml5.1.0\ifort64_mp\include\acml.h(3676) : error C2143: errore di sintassi: ';' mancante prima di ',' 1>C:\AMD\acml5.1.0\ifort64_mp\include\acml.h(3676) : error C2059: errore di sintassi: ',' 1>C:\AMD\acml5.1.0\ifort64_mp\include\acml.h(3676) : error C2059: errore di sintassi: ')' I apologize for italian language; however they are all sintax errors. • Windows forms designer renaming copy/pasted controls

    - by Ready Cent
I saw a similar question asked and answered for ASP.net here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/484327/how-do-i-prevent-visual-studio-from-renaming-my-controls But I am trying to prevent this while writing a Windows forms app in VS 2008 using c#. I want to copy/paste a ton of controls without them being called Checkbox1 etc. I'd rather rename them manually since its only a small change to the name.

  • Windows Forms in Visual Studio Express

    - by noname
Good day, can I ask one question about Windows Forms? As far as I know Windows Forms is Win32 wrapper like MFC, created for use with .NET. But, what I dont know is, can you use windows forms and compile directly to native code? Becouse in Visual Studio Express, there is windows forms available only for CLR. And, there is no GUI tool for use with win32 project. I expected there will be one, since its called Visual, like Visual Basic has. Thanks.

  • Decent simple SQL Server client

    - by John
Hi, does anyone know of a very simple SQL Server client tool - that does the same basic functions as Management Studio (i.e. choose a database and run a query - doesn't need an Object Explorer, or anything fancy)? Ideally it would be great to have a single exe or zip file version that I could take around on a USB key - anything to avoid installing the full set of SQL Server client tools all the time! Thanks, John

  • Working with .NET Project Files and Schemas?

    - by Mitchel Sellers
I'm working on a project that will require me to take various .vbproj and .csproj files and determine which version of Visual Studio they were built with and then to get information such as the output dll name etc. Does anyone know if there is a schema available for these files? Google and MSDN searches are coming up a bit blank.

  • VS2010 and local databases

    - by Darren
Is it possible to connect to a local database (in the app_data folder) using the Data - Transact SQL Editor in Visual Studio 2010? When I launch the Transact SQL Editor from VS2010 I get the "Microsoft SQL Server 2008 RC" connect to server dialog. The options I have for Server type are "Database Engine" and "SQL Server Compact"

  • C# Putting the required DLLs somewhere other than the root of the output

    - by aip.cd.aish
I am using EmguCV for a project and when our program runs it needs some dlls like "cxcore.dll" etc. (or it throws runtime exceptions). At the moment, I put the files in the root of the output folder (selected "Copy Always" in the file's properties in Visual Studio). However it looks a bit messy, to have about 10 different dlls just there. Is there someway where I can move it to a subfolder in the output folder and it'll still find it.

  • Displaying RichText in Crystal Reports

    - by KevB
I have a report created in Crystal (the version that comes with Visual Studio 2005) that contains an IFieldObject that I want to use to display some rich text. I have set the TextFormat of the IFieldObject to crRTFText, however when I run the report the textbox displays all the rtf markup rather than actually displaying the formatted text. Is there some other settings that need to be changed in order for Crystal to display rich text?
