  • Android Mock Location locks GPS on status bar

    I created an app that uses mock locations to insert GPS coordinates. After removing the test provider via: mLocationManager.clearTestProviderLocation(mocLocationProvider); mLocationManager.removeTestProvider(mocLocationProvider); mLocationManager.removeUpdates(mLocationListener); When I launch google maps for example after exiting the app the GPS location is found and then never goes away. "Location Set By GPS" always remains on the notification bar even though my app is ended. Any ideas?

  • Double # showing 0 on android

    I'm embarrassed to ask this question, but after 45 minutes of not finding a solution I will resort to public humiliation. I have a number that is being divided by another number and I'm storing that number in a double variable. The numbers are randomly generated, but debugging the app shows that both numbers are in fact being generated. Lets just say the numbers are 476 & 733. I then take the numbers and divide them to get the percentage 476/733 = .64 I then print out the variable and it's always set to 0. I've tried using DecimalFormat and NumberFormat. No matter what I try though it always says the variable is 0. I know there is something simple that I'm missing, I just can't find it =/.

    I have google maps activity where i would like to get my location but im facing NullPointerException... locManager = (LocationManager) getSystemService(Context.LOCATION_SERVICE); locManager.requestLocationUpdates(LocationManager.NETWORK_PROVIDER, 0, 0, this); Location location = locManager.getLastKnownLocation(LocationManager.NETWORK_PROVIDER); System.out.println("loaded4"); myPoint = new GeoPoint((int)(location.getLatitude()*1E6),(int)(location.getLongitude()*1E6)); System.out.println("loaded5"); I am able to get "loaded4" but not "loaded5" So NullPointer cause is between them. I also tried to use GPS_PROVIDER but it didnt work out. Yes i have all permissions in manifest. Map is able to load in if im not searhing for my loacation. Is it possible its NullPointer because before that i load some other coordinates in same class ? Maybe its emulator fault ? I can give extended code if needed.     I am parsing an html content and have output on my screen. This website have Turkish characters such as çÇsSöÖgGiIüÜ. I am not able to show them as proper characters, they are printed out as question marks yet. Eclipse - Project - Properties - Resource - Text File Encoding = Inherited from container (Cp1254) I searched web and found this solution: Eclipse - Project - Properties - Resource - Text File Encoding = Other: UTF-8 However, it's not working.   • Android Apps wont update.

    Hello, i know that eclipse has a couple of glitches when it comes to updating your app and running it on the emulator, i have tried everything that i have found on the internet. Stopping the adb manually making a new emulator and starting it with "wipe user data" and restarting it even reinstalling all of the programs. What i have noticed is that it updates correctly until i start adding images to the drawable folder. After that it doesn't update at all. Can anybody help me its really frustrating also the pictures show up on the "graphic layout how they are suppose to it just doesn't update.

  • Android: how to convert whole ImageView to Bitmap?

    I have my application that is displaying images with different ratio, resized inside (centerInside) imageView. What I need is to create bitmap from the ImageView including the background (black in this case). So for example I have device screen 320x480, full screen imageView with image resized to 280x480. How could I get 320x480 bitmap from it? On top of this imageview I have some logos or buttons that I don't want to include to bitmap, they're like on top layer. All I need is bitmap with image and black border from some sides.

  • Unable to use getInt() but able to use getString() for a sqlite database

    I am using a cursor to access a sqlite database I have in my app. I am having trouble using the .getInt() on my database. My database is pre-created, and I have a few cursors that perform queries to interface with the information. Several of the columns in one of the tables are set as INTEGER type. I realize that sqlite has no built in check to make sure columns are indeed INT. However, when retrieving the data, I can use the .getString() function without any issues, but calling .getInt() causes the app to crash. Below is the relevant code. If I am missing anything, please let me know, and I'll add it in. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.   • Android Static Variable Scope and Lifetime

    I have an application that has a Service uses a ArrayList to store in the background for a very long time, the variable is initialized when the service started. The service is in the background and there will be frequent access to the variable (that's why i don't want to use file management or settings since it will be very expensive for a file I/O for the sake of battery life). The variable will likely to be ~1MB-2MB over its life tie. Is it safe to say that it will never be nulled by GC or the system or is there any way to prevent it? Thanks.

    Hi everyone, I have a class that fetches data in response to button presses in the main activity. Unfortunately, I keep running into problems because this class is not an Activity or a Service. For example, without a Context I cannot translate a resource id into a string: getString(R.string.example_string); // Doesn't work Should I make this class into a Service and have the main Activity stop the class when it is closed? Should I pass the Context from the Activity into this class like this? MyClass c = new MyClass(this); Or is there some better way to handle this problem? This issue also comes up when I try to send a Toast from this class.

  • Android - Turn off display without triggering sleep/lock screen - Turn on with Touchscreen

    I have been trying to find a way to turn off the display, and wake up from the user touching the touch screen. The device is in an embedded environment where the device is a tablet and the user does not have access to anything except the touch screen (no buttons at all). It is connected to power so the battery won't be a problem, but when I detect no activity I want to turn off the screen so it isn't staring them in the face all day and doesn't reduce the life the LCD backlight. I maintain a wakelock permanently and decide when to sleep myself. The problem is that when I turn off the screen using : WindowManager.LayoutParams params = getWindow().getAttributes(); params.screenBrightness = 0; getWindow().setAttributes(params); The activity gets paused and stopped. And the unit does not respond to a touch to wake it up. You need to press the power button. At that point the "slide to unlock" shows up. I want to turn off the display, and then stay running so I can detect a touch screen event and turn the display back on. I also tried turning the display to a brightness of 0.1, which works on some devices, but the device I need it to work on, only "dims" the display. I also tried this: // First Remove my FULL wakelock //then aquire a partial wake lock (which should turn off the display) PowerManager.WakeLock wl = manager.newWakeLock(PowerManager.PARTIAL_WAKE_LOCK, "Your Tag"); wl.acquire(); however this method does not turn off the display.

    I've read that it's important to call setContentView() early in an activity since it builds the view objects that may be manipulated by subsequent code in onCreate(). In terms of lifecycle, does the view get drawn to screen as soon as setContentView() is called, or does it allow the onCreate() function to build/populate the information in the view objects, and wait to actually draw it after onCreate() completes?     I have an authority string defined as such: public final static String AUTHORITY = "dsndata.sds2mobile.jobprovider"; Followed by an edition to the UriMatcher: uriMatcher.addURI(JobMetaData.AUTHORITY, "/JobNames/*", JOBNAME_SINGLE_URI); The uri that gets passed to the switch is: content://dsndata.sds2mobile.jobprovider/JobNames/test This falls through the switch and hits the default (which throws an IllegalArgumentException). Am I missing something? I've searched and can't find anything that would account for the mismatch.

It works perfectly on my code, but I don't have any idea how to set the initial current screen to second or third screen. the method setCurrentScreen(int) doesn't affect anything and if I change the for loop inside the onLayout() method from for (int i = 0; i < count; i++) {...} into for (int i = 1; i < count; i++){...} It does starts in page two, but you can't go to page one. Any idea how to start on page two?
