- by Samir Ghobril
Hey guys, there is a form where the user select some of his friends and I'm curious on how I can implement a list that searches simultaneously while the user is typing a friend's name and when he selects the name the name is written in the text box(jQuery). And if the user wants to select more than one friend, when I'm inserting the names in the database, how can I separate the names that are written in one input field?

When I use that method to validated that the user input at least one from 3 input text boxes. It validates the field, but the other items to be validated is ignored specially the items before 3 input text boxes.

  • jQuery: resizing element cuts off parent's background

    - by Justine
Hi, I've been trying to recreate an effect from this tutorial: http://jqueryfordesigners.com/jquery-look-tim-van-damme/ Unfortunately, I want a background image underneath and because of the resize going on in JavaScript, it gets resized and cut off as well, like so: http://dev.gentlecode.net/dotme/index-sample.html - you can view source there to check the HTML, but basic structure looks like this:

div.header ul.nav div.main

Here is my jQuery code: $('ul.nav').each(function() { var $links = $(this).find('a'), panelIds = $links.map(function() { return this.hash; }).get().join(","), $panels = $(panelIds), $panelWrapper = $panels.filter(':first').parent(), delay = 500; $panels.hide(); $links.click(function() { var $link = $(this), link = (this); if ($link.is('.current')) { return; } $links.removeClass('current'); $link.addClass('current'); $panels.animate({ opacity : 0 }, delay); $panelWrapper.animate({ height: 0 }, delay, function() { var height = $panels.hide().filter(link.hash).show().css('opacity', 1).outerHeight(); $panelWrapper.animate({ height: height }, delay); }); }); var showtab = window.location.hash ? '[hash=' + window.location.hash + ']' : ':first'; $links.filter(showtab).click(); }); In this example, panelWrapper is a div.main and it gets resized to fit the content of tabs. The background is applied to the div.page but because its child is getting resized, it resizes as well, cutting off the background image. It's hard to explain so please look at the link above to see what I mean. I guess what I'm trying to ask is: is there a way to resize an element without resizing its parent? I tried setting height and min-height of .page to 100% and 101% but that didn't work. I tried making the background image fixed, but nada. It also happens if I add the background to the body or even html. Help?

  • Jquery/Ajax file uploader

    - by Ihavenoidea
Hey Guys Im looking for a jquery or ajax file uploader, Im currently using the FancyUploader which worked great until Flash brought out their update making all flash progress bars absolete, now whenever I try to upload large files... it will fill the progress bar to 100% in a matter of seconds even though the actual upload finished minutes after. So im now looking for a new uploading script that DOESNT require flash but can still display the progress. Any suggestions?

  • Unable to get index from jQuery UI slider range

    - by Phil.Wheeler
I'm having a hell of a time trying to get (what I thought was) a simple index from a collection of multiple sliders. The HTML is as follows:
0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
And the jQuery code is: // setup audiometry sliders $("#eq > span").each(function (e) { // read initial values from markup and remove that var value = parseInt($(this).text()); // var index = $(this).index; <- this didn't work. $(this).empty(); $(this).slider({ value: value, slide: function (event, ui) { //console.log($(this).attr('id')); <- neither did this. //console.log(index); $('#left-values span:first').text(ui.value); } }) }); The problem is that jQuery UI - when creating a slider - replaces the existing HTML with its own markup. This includes any ID values and, for whatever reason, I can't get the index for a given slider to surface either. So I'm running out of ideas.
