  • Mousin' down the PathListBox

    - by T
    While modifying the standard media player with a new look and feel for Ineta Live I saw a unique opportunity to use their logo with a dotted I with and attached arc as the scrub control. So I created a PathListBox that I wanted an object to follow when a user did a click and drag action.  Below is how I solved the problem.  Please let me know if you have improvements or know of a completely different way.  I am always eager to learn. First, I created a path using the pen tool in Expression Blend (see the yellow line in image below).  Then I right clicked that path and chose [Path] --> [Make Layout Path].   That created a new PathListBox.  Then I chose the object I want to move down the new PathListBox and Placed it as a child in the Objects and Timeline window (see image below).  If the child object (the thing the user will click and drag) is XAML, it will move much smoother than images. Just as another side note, I wanted there to be no highlight when the user selects the “ball” to drag and drop.  This is done by editing the ItemContainerStyle under Additional Templates on the PathListBox.  Post a question if you need help on this and I will expand my explanation. Here is a pic of the object and the path I wanted it to follow.  I gave the path a yellow solid brush here so you could see it but when I lay this over another object, I will make the path transparent.   To animate this object down the path, the trick is to animate the Start number for the LayoutPath.  Not the StartItemIndex, the Start above Span. In order to enable animation when a user clicks and drags, I put in the following code snippets in the code behind. the DependencyProperties are not necessary for the Drag control. namespace InetaPlayer{ public partial class PositionControl : UserControl { private bool _mouseDown; private double _maxPlayTime; public PositionControl() { // Required to initialize variables InitializeComponent(); //mouse events for scrub control positionThumb.MouseLeftButtonDown += new MouseButtonEventHandler(ValueThumb_MouseLeftButtonDown); positionThumb.MouseLeftButtonUp += new MouseButtonEventHandler(ValueThumb_MouseLeftButtonUp); positionThumb.MouseMove += new MouseEventHandler(ValueThumb_MouseMove); positionThumb.LostMouseCapture += new MouseEventHandler(ValueThumb_LostMouseCapture); } // exposed for binding to real slider using a DependencyProperty enables animation, styling, binding, etc.... public double MaxPlayTime { get { return (double)GetValue(MaxPlayTimeProperty); } set { SetValue(MaxPlayTimeProperty, value); } } public static readonly DependencyProperty MaxPlayTimeProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("MaxPlayTime", typeof(double), typeof(PositionControl), null);   // exposed for binding to real slider using a DependencyProperty enables animation, styling, binding, etc....   public double CurrSliderValue { get { return (double)GetValue(CurrSliderValueProperty); } set { SetValue(CurrSliderValueProperty, value); } }   public static readonly DependencyProperty CurrSliderValueProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("CurrSliderValue", typeof(double), typeof(PositionControl), new PropertyMetadata(0.0, OnCurrSliderValuePropertyChanged));   private static void OnCurrSliderValuePropertyChanged(DependencyObject d, DependencyPropertyChangedEventArgs e) { PositionControl control = d as PositionControl; control.OnCurrSliderValueChanged((double)e.OldValue, (double)e.NewValue); }   private void OnCurrSliderValueChanged(double oldValue, double newValue) { _maxPlayTime = (double) GetValue(MaxPlayTimeProperty); if (!_mouseDown) if (_maxPlayTime!=0) sliderPathListBox.LayoutPaths[0].Start = newValue / _maxPlayTime; else sliderPathListBox.LayoutPaths[0].Start = 0; }  //mouse control   void ValueThumb_MouseMove(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { if (!_mouseDown) return; //get the offset of how far the drag has been //direction is handled automatically (offset will be negative for left move and positive for right move) Point mouseOff = e.GetPosition(positionThumb); //Divide the offset by 1000 for a smooth transition sliderPathListBox.LayoutPaths[0].Start +=mouseOff.X/1000; _maxPlayTime = (double)GetValue(MaxPlayTimeProperty); SetValue(CurrSliderValueProperty ,sliderPathListBox.LayoutPaths[0].Start*_maxPlayTime); }   void ValueThumb_MouseLeftButtonUp(object sender, MouseButtonEventArgs e) { _mouseDown = false; } void ValueThumb_LostMouseCapture(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { _mouseDown = false; } void ValueThumb_MouseLeftButtonDown(object sender, MouseButtonEventArgs e) { _mouseDown = true; ((UIElement)positionThumb).CaptureMouse(); }   }}  I made this into a user control and exposed a couple of DependencyProperties in order to bind it to a standard Slider in the overall project.  This control is embedded into the standard Expression media player template and is used to replace the standard scrub bar.  When the player goes live, I will put a link here.

  • Retrieving recent tweets using LINQ

    - by brian_ritchie
    There are a few different APIs for accessing Twitter from .NET.  In this example, I'll use linq2twitter.  Other APIs can be found on Twitter's development site. First off, we'll use the LINQ provider to pull in the recent tweets. .csharpcode, .csharpcode pre { font-size: small; color: black; font-family: Consolas, "Courier New", Courier, Monospace; background-color: #ffffff; /*white-space: pre;*/ } .csharpcode pre { margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .rem { color: #008000; } .csharpcode .kwrd { color: #0000ff; } .csharpcode .str { color: #006080; } .csharpcode .op { color: #0000c0; } .csharpcode .preproc { color: #cc6633; } .csharpcode .asp { background-color: #ffff00; } .csharpcode .html { color: #800000; } .csharpcode .attr { color: #ff0000; } .csharpcode .alt { background-color: #f4f4f4; width: 100%; margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .lnum { color: #606060; } 1: public static Status[] GetLatestTweets(string screenName, int numTweets) 2: { 3: try 4: { 5: var twitterCtx = new LinqToTwitter.TwitterContext(); 6: var list = from tweet in twitterCtx.Status 7: where tweet.Type == StatusType.User && 8: tweet.ScreenName == screenName 9: orderby tweet.CreatedAt descending 10: select tweet; 11: // using Take() on array because it was failing against the provider 12: var recentTweets = list.ToArray().Take(numTweets).ToArray(); 13: return recentTweets; 14: } 15: catch 16: { 17: return new Status[0]; 18: } 19: } Once they have been retrieved, they would be placed inside an MVC model. Next, the tweets need to be formatted for display. I've defined an extension method to aid with date formatting: .csharpcode, .csharpcode pre { font-size: small; color: black; font-family: Consolas, "Courier New", Courier, Monospace; background-color: #ffffff; /*white-space: pre;*/ } .csharpcode pre { margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .rem { color: #008000; } .csharpcode .kwrd { color: #0000ff; } .csharpcode .str { color: #006080; } .csharpcode .op { color: #0000c0; } .csharpcode .preproc { color: #cc6633; } .csharpcode .asp { background-color: #ffff00; } .csharpcode .html { color: #800000; } .csharpcode .attr { color: #ff0000; } .csharpcode .alt { background-color: #f4f4f4; width: 100%; margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .lnum { color: #606060; } 1: public static class DateTimeExtension 2: { 3: public static string ToAgo(this DateTime date2) 4: { 5: DateTime date1 = DateTime.Now; 6: if (DateTime.Compare(date1, date2) >= 0) 7: { 8: TimeSpan ts = date1.Subtract(date2); 9: if (ts.TotalDays >= 1) 10: return string.Format("{0} days", (int)ts.TotalDays); 11: else if (ts.Hours > 2) 12: return string.Format("{0} hours", ts.Hours); 13: else if (ts.Hours > 0) 14: return string.Format("{0} hours, {1} minutes", 15: ts.Hours, ts.Minutes); 16: else if (ts.Minutes > 5) 17: return string.Format("{0} minutes", ts.Minutes); 18: else if (ts.Minutes > 0) 19: return string.Format("{0} mintutes, {1} seconds", 20: ts.Minutes, ts.Seconds); 21: else 22: return string.Format("{0} seconds", ts.Seconds); 23: } 24: else 25: return "Not valid"; 26: } 27: } Finally, here is the piece of the view used to render the tweets. .csharpcode, .csharpcode pre { font-size: small; color: black; font-family: Consolas, "Courier New", Courier, Monospace; background-color: #ffffff; /*white-space: pre;*/ } .csharpcode pre { margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .rem { color: #008000; } .csharpcode .kwrd { color: #0000ff; } .csharpcode .str { color: #006080; } .csharpcode .op { color: #0000c0; } .csharpcode .preproc { color: #cc6633; } .csharpcode .asp { background-color: #ffff00; } .csharpcode .html { color: #800000; } .csharpcode .attr { color: #ff0000; } .csharpcode .alt { background-color: #f4f4f4; width: 100%; margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .lnum { color: #606060; } 1: <ul class="tweets"> 2: <% 3: foreach (var tweet in Model.Tweets) 4: { 5: %> 6: <li class="tweets"> 7: <span class="tweetTime"><%=tweet.CreatedAt.ToAgo() %> ago</span>: 8: <%=tweet.Text%> 9: </li> 10: <%} %> 11: </ul>

  • C#/.NET Little Wonders: ConcurrentBag and BlockingCollection

    - by James Michael Hare
    In the first week of concurrent collections, began with a general introduction and discussed the ConcurrentStack<T> and ConcurrentQueue<T>.  The last post discussed the ConcurrentDictionary<T> .  Finally this week, we shall close with a discussion of the ConcurrentBag<T> and BlockingCollection<T>. For more of the "Little Wonders" posts, see C#/.NET Little Wonders: A Redux. Recap As you'll recall from the previous posts, the original collections were object-based containers that accomplished synchronization through a Synchronized member.  With the advent of .NET 2.0, the original collections were succeeded by the generic collections which are fully type-safe, but eschew automatic synchronization.  With .NET 4.0, a new breed of collections was born in the System.Collections.Concurrent namespace.  Of these, the final concurrent collection we will examine is the ConcurrentBag and a very useful wrapper class called the BlockingCollection. For some excellent information on the performance of the concurrent collections and how they perform compared to a traditional brute-force locking strategy, see this informative whitepaper by the Microsoft Parallel Computing Platform team here. ConcurrentBag<T> – Thread-safe unordered collection. Unlike the other concurrent collections, the ConcurrentBag<T> has no non-concurrent counterpart in the .NET collections libraries.  Items can be added and removed from a bag just like any other collection, but unlike the other collections, the items are not maintained in any order.  This makes the bag handy for those cases when all you care about is that the data be consumed eventually, without regard for order of consumption or even fairness – that is, it’s possible new items could be consumed before older items given the right circumstances for a period of time. So why would you ever want a container that can be unfair?  Well, to look at it another way, you can use a ConcurrentQueue and get the fairness, but it comes at a cost in that the ordering rules and synchronization required to maintain that ordering can affect scalability a bit.  Thus sometimes the bag is great when you want the fastest way to get the next item to process, and don’t care what item it is or how long its been waiting. The way that the ConcurrentBag works is to take advantage of the new ThreadLocal<T> type (new in System.Threading for .NET 4.0) so that each thread using the bag has a list local to just that thread.  This means that adding or removing to a thread-local list requires very low synchronization.  The problem comes in where a thread goes to consume an item but it’s local list is empty.  In this case the bag performs “work-stealing” where it will rob an item from another thread that has items in its list.  This requires a higher level of synchronization which adds a bit of overhead to the take operation. So, as you can imagine, this makes the ConcurrentBag good for situations where each thread both produces and consumes items from the bag, but it would be less-than-idea in situations where some threads are dedicated producers and the other threads are dedicated consumers because the work-stealing synchronization would outweigh the thread-local optimization for a thread taking its own items. Like the other concurrent collections, there are some curiosities to keep in mind: IsEmpty(), Count, ToArray(), and GetEnumerator() lock collection Each of these needs to take a snapshot of whole bag to determine if empty, thus they tend to be more expensive and cause Add() and Take() operations to block. ToArray() and GetEnumerator() are static snapshots Because it is based on a snapshot, will not show subsequent updates after snapshot. Add() is lightweight Since adding to the thread-local list, there is very little overhead on Add. TryTake() is lightweight if items in thread-local list As long as items are in the thread-local list, TryTake() is very lightweight, much more so than ConcurrentStack() and ConcurrentQueue(), however if the local thread list is empty, it must steal work from another thread, which is more expensive. Remember, a bag is not ideal for all situations, it is mainly ideal for situations where a process consumes an item and either decomposes it into more items to be processed, or handles the item partially and places it back to be processed again until some point when it will complete.  The main point is that the bag works best when each thread both takes and adds items. For example, we could create a totally contrived example where perhaps we want to see the largest power of a number before it crosses a certain threshold.  Yes, obviously we could easily do this with a log function, but bare with me while I use this contrived example for simplicity. So let’s say we have a work function that will take a Tuple out of a bag, this Tuple will contain two ints.  The first int is the original number, and the second int is the last multiple of that number.  So we could load our bag with the initial values (let’s say we want to know the last multiple of each of 2, 3, 5, and 7 under 100. 1: var bag = new ConcurrentBag<Tuple<int, int>> 2: { 3: Tuple.Create(2, 1), 4: Tuple.Create(3, 1), 5: Tuple.Create(5, 1), 6: Tuple.Create(7, 1) 7: }; Then we can create a method that given the bag, will take out an item, apply the multiplier again, 1: public static void FindHighestPowerUnder(ConcurrentBag<Tuple<int,int>> bag, int threshold) 2: { 3: Tuple<int,int> pair; 4:  5: // while there are items to take, this will prefer local first, then steal if no local 6: while (bag.TryTake(out pair)) 7: { 8: // look at next power 9: var result = Math.Pow(pair.Item1, pair.Item2 + 1); 10:  11: if (result < threshold) 12: { 13: // if smaller than threshold bump power by 1 14: bag.Add(Tuple.Create(pair.Item1, pair.Item2 + 1)); 15: } 16: else 17: { 18: // otherwise, we're done 19: Console.WriteLine("Highest power of {0} under {3} is {0}^{1} = {2}.", 20: pair.Item1, pair.Item2, Math.Pow(pair.Item1, pair.Item2), threshold); 21: } 22: } 23: } Now that we have this, we can load up this method as an Action into our Tasks and run it: 1: // create array of tasks, start all, wait for all 2: var tasks = new[] 3: { 4: new Task(() => FindHighestPowerUnder(bag, 100)), 5: new Task(() => FindHighestPowerUnder(bag, 100)), 6: }; 7:  8: Array.ForEach(tasks, t => t.Start()); 9:  10: Task.WaitAll(tasks); Totally contrived, I know, but keep in mind the main point!  When you have a thread or task that operates on an item, and then puts it back for further consumption – or decomposes an item into further sub-items to be processed – you should consider a ConcurrentBag as the thread-local lists will allow for quick processing.  However, if you need ordering or if your processes are dedicated producers or consumers, this collection is not ideal.  As with anything, you should performance test as your mileage will vary depending on your situation! BlockingCollection<T> – A producers & consumers pattern collection The BlockingCollection<T> can be treated like a collection in its own right, but in reality it adds a producers and consumers paradigm to any collection that implements the interface IProducerConsumerCollection<T>.  If you don’t specify one at the time of construction, it will use a ConcurrentQueue<T> as its underlying store. If you don’t want to use the ConcurrentQueue, the ConcurrentStack and ConcurrentBag also implement the interface (though ConcurrentDictionary does not).  In addition, you are of course free to create your own implementation of the interface. So, for those who don’t remember the producers and consumers classical computer-science problem, the gist of it is that you have one (or more) processes that are creating items (producers) and one (or more) processes that are consuming these items (consumers).  Now, the crux of the problem is that there is a bin (queue) where the produced items are placed, and typically that bin has a limited size.  Thus if a producer creates an item, but there is no space to store it, it must wait until an item is consumed.  Also if a consumer goes to consume an item and none exists, it must wait until an item is produced. The BlockingCollection makes it trivial to implement any standard producers/consumers process set by providing that “bin” where the items can be produced into and consumed from with the appropriate blocking operations.  In addition, you can specify whether the bin should have a limited size or can be (theoretically) unbounded, and you can specify timeouts on the blocking operations. As far as your choice of “bin”, for the most part the ConcurrentQueue is the right choice because it is fairly light and maximizes fairness by ordering items so that they are consumed in the same order they are produced.  You can use the concurrent bag or stack, of course, but your ordering would be random-ish in the case of the former and LIFO in the case of the latter. So let’s look at some of the methods of note in BlockingCollection: BoundedCapacity returns capacity of the “bin” If the bin is unbounded, the capacity is int.MaxValue. Count returns an internally-kept count of items This makes it O(1), but if you modify underlying collection directly (not recommended) it is unreliable. CompleteAdding() is used to cut off further adds. This sets IsAddingCompleted and begins to wind down consumers once empty. IsAddingCompleted is true when producers are “done”. Once you are done producing, should complete the add process to alert consumers. IsCompleted is true when producers are “done” and “bin” is empty. Once you mark the producers done, and all items removed, this will be true. Add() is a blocking add to collection. If bin is full, will wait till space frees up Take() is a blocking remove from collection. If bin is empty, will wait until item is produced or adding is completed. GetConsumingEnumerable() is used to iterate and consume items. Unlike the standard enumerator, this one consumes the items instead of iteration. TryAdd() attempts add but does not block completely If adding would block, returns false instead, can specify TimeSpan to wait before stopping. TryTake() attempts to take but does not block completely Like TryAdd(), if taking would block, returns false instead, can specify TimeSpan to wait. Note the use of CompleteAdding() to signal the BlockingCollection that nothing else should be added.  This means that any attempts to TryAdd() or Add() after marked completed will throw an InvalidOperationException.  In addition, once adding is complete you can still continue to TryTake() and Take() until the bin is empty, and then Take() will throw the InvalidOperationException and TryTake() will return false. So let’s create a simple program to try this out.  Let’s say that you have one process that will be producing items, but a slower consumer process that handles them.  This gives us a chance to peek inside what happens when the bin is bounded (by default, the bin is NOT bounded). 1: var bin = new BlockingCollection<int>(5); Now, we create a method to produce items: 1: public static void ProduceItems(BlockingCollection<int> bin, int numToProduce) 2: { 3: for (int i = 0; i < numToProduce; i++) 4: { 5: // try for 10 ms to add an item 6: while (!bin.TryAdd(i, TimeSpan.FromMilliseconds(10))) 7: { 8: Console.WriteLine("Bin is full, retrying..."); 9: } 10: } 11:  12: // once done producing, call CompleteAdding() 13: Console.WriteLine("Adding is completed."); 14: bin.CompleteAdding(); 15: } And one to consume them: 1: public static void ConsumeItems(BlockingCollection<int> bin) 2: { 3: // This will only be true if CompleteAdding() was called AND the bin is empty. 4: while (!bin.IsCompleted) 5: { 6: int item; 7:  8: if (!bin.TryTake(out item, TimeSpan.FromMilliseconds(10))) 9: { 10: Console.WriteLine("Bin is empty, retrying..."); 11: } 12: else 13: { 14: Console.WriteLine("Consuming item {0}.", item); 15: Thread.Sleep(TimeSpan.FromMilliseconds(20)); 16: } 17: } 18: } Then we can fire them off: 1: // create one producer and two consumers 2: var tasks = new[] 3: { 4: new Task(() => ProduceItems(bin, 20)), 5: new Task(() => ConsumeItems(bin)), 6: new Task(() => ConsumeItems(bin)), 7: }; 8:  9: Array.ForEach(tasks, t => t.Start()); 10:  11: Task.WaitAll(tasks); Notice that the producer is faster than the consumer, thus it should be hitting a full bin often and displaying the message after it times out on TryAdd(). 1: Consuming item 0. 2: Consuming item 1. 3: Bin is full, retrying... 4: Bin is full, retrying... 5: Consuming item 3. 6: Consuming item 2. 7: Bin is full, retrying... 8: Consuming item 4. 9: Consuming item 5. 10: Bin is full, retrying... 11: Consuming item 6. 12: Consuming item 7. 13: Bin is full, retrying... 14: Consuming item 8. 15: Consuming item 9. 16: Bin is full, retrying... 17: Consuming item 10. 18: Consuming item 11. 19: Bin is full, retrying... 20: Consuming item 12. 21: Consuming item 13. 22: Bin is full, retrying... 23: Bin is full, retrying... 24: Consuming item 14. 25: Adding is completed. 26: Consuming item 15. 27: Consuming item 16. 28: Consuming item 17. 29: Consuming item 19. 30: Consuming item 18. Also notice that once CompleteAdding() is called and the bin is empty, the IsCompleted property returns true, and the consumers will exit. Summary The ConcurrentBag is an interesting collection that can be used to optimize concurrency scenarios where tasks or threads both produce and consume items.  In this way, it will choose to consume its own work if available, and then steal if not.  However, in situations where you want fair consumption or ordering, or in situations where the producers and consumers are distinct processes, the bag is not optimal. The BlockingCollection is a great wrapper around all of the concurrent queue, stack, and bag that allows you to add producer and consumer semantics easily including waiting when the bin is full or empty. That’s the end of my dive into the concurrent collections.  I’d also strongly recommend, once again, you read this excellent Microsoft white paper that goes into much greater detail on the efficiencies you can gain using these collections judiciously (here). • "powershell has stopped working" on PS exit after creating IIS User

    - by Nick Jones
    On a Windows Server 2012 box, I'm using PS to create a new IIS User (for automated deployments using MSDeploy). The command itself appears to work fine -- the user is created -- but as soon as I exit my PowerShell session (typing exit or just closing the command window), a dialog is displayed stating "powershell has stopped working", with the following details: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: PowerShell NameOfExe: powershell.exe FileVersionOfSystemManagementAutomation: 6.2.9200.16628 InnermostExceptionType: Runtime.InteropServices.InvalidComObject OutermostExceptionType: Runtime.InteropServices.InvalidComObject DeepestPowerShellFrame: unknown DeepestFrame: System.StubHelpers.StubHelpers.GetCOMIPFromRCW ThreadName: unknown OS Version: 6.2.9200.2.0.0.400.8 Locale ID: 1033 The PS commands in question are: [System.Reflection.Assembly]::LoadWithPartialName("Microsoft.Web.Management") [Microsoft.Web.Management.Server.ManagementAuthentication]::CreateUser("Foo", "Bar") Why is this happening and how can I avoid it? EDIT: I've also confirmed this be a problem with PowerShell 4.0, so I've added that tag. I've also submitted it on Connect. UPDATE: It appears that Windows Server 2012 R2 does not have this same bug.

  • send multiple file over TCP with C# using TcpClient

    - by xnoor
    I'm trying to send multiple files over TCP using C# TcpClient, for a single file it works great, but when I have multiple files, it sends only the first one. Here is my code: SENDING FILES try { TcpClient tcpClient = new TcpClient(); NetworkStream networkStream; FileStream fileStream = null; tcpClient.Connect(appUpdateMessage.receiverIpAddress, 12000); networkStream = tcpClient.GetStream(); byte[] byteSend = new byte[tcpClient.ReceiveBufferSize]; string startupPath = System.IO.Path.GetDirectoryName(System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetName().CodeBase).Substring(6); DirectoryInfo directoriesInfo = new DirectoryInfo(startupPath); DirectoryInfo[] directories = directoriesInfo.GetDirectories(); FileInfo[] files = directoriesInfo.GetFiles(); for (int iLoop = 0; iLoop < directories.Length; iLoop++) { FileInfo[] subdirectoryFiles = directories[iLoop].GetFiles(); foreach (FileInfo fi in subdirectoryFiles) { fileStream = new FileStream(fi.FullName, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read); BinaryReader binFile = new BinaryReader(fileStream); FileUpdateMessage fileUpdateMessage = new FileUpdateMessage(); fileUpdateMessage.fileName = fi.Name; fileUpdateMessage.fileSize = fi.Length; fileUpdateMessage.targetDirectory = fi.Directory.Name; MessageContainer messageContainer = new MessageContainer(); messageContainer.messageType = MessageType.FileProperties; messageContainer.messageContnet = SerializationManager.XmlFormatterObjectToByteArray(fileUpdateMessage); byte[] messageByte = SerializationManager.XmlFormatterObjectToByteArray(messageContainer); networkStream.Write(messageByte, 0, messageByte.Length); int bytesSize = 0; byte[] downBuffer = new byte[2048]; while ((bytesSize = fileStream.Read(downBuffer, 0, downBuffer.Length)) > 0) { networkStream.Write(downBuffer, 0, bytesSize); } fileStream.Close(); } } tcpClient.Close(); networkStream.Close(); return true; } catch (Exception ex) { //logger.Info(ex.Message); return false; } finally { } RECEIVING FILES try { TcpClient tcpClient = c as TcpClient; NetworkStream networkstream = tcpClient.GetStream(); FileStream fileStream = null; byte[] _data = new byte[1024]; int _bytesRead = 0; _bytesRead = networkstream.Read(_data, 0, _data.Length); MessageContainer messageContainer = new MessageContainer(); messageContainer = SerializationManager.XmlFormatterByteArrayToObject(_data, messageContainer) as MessageContainer; switch (messageContainer.messageType) { case MessageType.FileProperties: FileUpdateMessage fileUpdateMessage = new FileUpdateMessage(); fileUpdateMessage = SerializationManager.XmlFormatterByteArrayToObject(messageContainer.messageContnet, fileUpdateMessage) as FileUpdateMessage; string startupPath = @"d:updatefolder";//System.IO.Path.GetDirectoryName(System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetName().CodeBase).Substring(6); DirectoryInfo mainDirectory = new DirectoryInfo(startupPath); DirectoryInfo targetDirecotry = new DirectoryInfo(startupPath + "\\" + fileUpdateMessage.targetDirectory); if (!targetDirecotry.Exists) { mainDirectory.CreateSubdirectory(fileUpdateMessage.targetDirectory); } fileStream = new FileStream(startupPath + "\\" + fileUpdateMessage.targetDirectory + "\\" + fileUpdateMessage.fileName, FileMode.Create, FileAccess.Write, FileShare.ReadWrite); long filezie = fileUpdateMessage.fileSize; int byteSize = 0; byte[] downBuffer = new byte[2048]; while ((byteSize = networkstream.Read(downBuffer, 0, downBuffer.Length)) > 0) { fileStream.Write(downBuffer, 0, byteSize); if (this.InvokeRequired) { this.Invoke((MethodInvoker)delegate { //progressBar1.Value = Convert.ToInt32((byteSize * 100) / fileUpdateMessage.fileSize); progressBar1.Value = Convert.ToInt32((fileStream.Length * 100) / fileUpdateMessage.fileSize); lblFileName.Text = fileUpdateMessage.fileName; }); } else { //progressBar1.Value = Convert.ToInt32((byteSize * 100) / fileUpdateMessage.fileSize); lblFileName.Text = fileUpdateMessage.fileName; } } fileStream.Close(); networkstream.Close(); break; } } catch (Exception ex) { //logger.Error(ex.Message); } Any idea what I am doing wrong?

  • UIScrollView zoomToRect not zooming to given rect (created from UITouch CGPoint)

    - by pmhart
    My application has a UIScrollView with one subview. The subview is an extended UIView which prints a PDF page to itself using layers in the drawLayer event. Zooming using the built in pinching works great. setZoomScale also works as expected. I have been struggling with the zoomToRect function. I found an example online which makes a CGRect zoomRect variable from a given CGPoint. In the touchesEnded function, if there was a double tap and they are all the way zoomed out, I want to zoom in to that PDFUIView I created as though they were pinching out with the center of the pinch where they double tapped. So assume that I pass the UITouch variable to my function which utilizes zoomToRect if they double tap. I started with the following function I found on apples site: http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/documentation/WindowsViews/Conceptual/UIScrollView_pg/ZoomZoom/ZoomZoom.html The following is a modified version for my UIScrollView extended class: - (void)zoomToCenter:(float)scale withCenter:(CGPoint)center { CGRect zoomRect; zoomRect.size.height = self.frame.size.height / scale; zoomRect.size.width = self.frame.size.width / scale; zoomRect.origin.x = center.x - (zoomRect.size.width / 2.0); zoomRect.origin.y = center.y - (zoomRect.size.height / 2.0); //return zoomRect; [self zoomToRect:zoomRect animated:YES]; } When I do this, the UIScrollView seems to zoom using the bottom right edge of the zoomRect above and not the center. If I make UIView like this UIView *v = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:zoomRect]; [v setBackgroundColor:[UIView redColor]]; [self addSubview:v]; The red box shows up with the touch point dead in the center. Please note: I am writing this from my PC, I recall messing around with the divided by two part on my Mac, so just assume that this draws a rect with the touch point in the center. If the UIView drew off center but zoomed to the right spot it would be all good. However, what happens is when it preforms the zoomToRect it seems to use the bottom right off the zoomRect at the top left of the zoomed in results. Also, I noticed that depending on where I click on the UIScrollView, it anchors to diffrent spots. It almost seems like there is a cross down the middle and it's reflecting the points somehow as though anywhere left of the middle is a negative reflection and anywhere right of the middle is a positive reflection? This seems to complicated, shouldn't it just zoom to the rect that was drawn as the UIView was able to draw? I used a lot of research to figure out how to create a PDF that scales in high quality, so I am assuming that using the CALayer may be throwing off the coordinate system? But to the UIScrollView it should just treat it as a view with 768x985 dimensions. This is sort of advanced, please assume the code for creating the zoomRect is all good. There is something deeper with the CALayer in the UIView which is in the UIScrollView....

  • New cast exception with VS2010/.Net 4

    - by Trevor
    [ Updated 25 May 2010 ] I've recently upgraded from VS2008 to VS2010, and at the same time upgraded to .Net 4. I've recompiled an existing solution of mine and I'm encountering a Cast exception I did not have before. The structure of the code is simple (although the actual implementation somewhat more complicated). Basically I have: public class SomeClass : ISomeClass { // Stuff } public static class ClassFactory { public static IInterface GetClassInstance<IInterface>(Type classType) { return (IInterface)Activator.CreateInstance(classType); // This throws a cast exception } } // Call the factory with: ISomeClass anInstance = ClassFactory.GetClassInstance<ISomeClass>(typeof(SomeClass)); Ignore the 'sensibleness' of the above - its provides just a representation of the issue rather than the specifics of what I'm doing (e.g. constructor parameters have been removed). The marked line throws the exception: Unable to cast object of type 'Namespace.SomeClass' to type 'Namespace.ISomeClass'. I suspect it may have something to do with the additional DotNet security (and in particular, explicit loading of assemblies, as this is something my app does). The reason I suspect this is that I have had to add to the config file the setting: <runtime> <loadFromRemoteSources enabled="true" /> </runtime> .. but I'm unsure if this is related. Update I see (from comments) that my basic code does not reproduce the issue by itself. Not surprising I suppose. It's going to be tricky to identify which part of a largish 3-tier CQS system is relevant to this problem. One issue might be that there are multiple assemblies involved. My static class is actually a factory provider, and the 'SomeClass' is a class factory (relevant in that the factories are 'registered' within the app via explicit assembly/type loading - see below) . Upfront I use reflection to 'register' all factories (i.e. classes that implement a particular interface) and that I do this when the app starts by identifying the relevant assemblies, loading them and adding them to a cache using (in essence): Loop over (file in files) { Assembly assembly = Assembly.LoadFile(file); baseAssemblyList.Add(assembly); } Then I cache the available types in these assemblies with: foreach (Assembly assembly in _loadedAssemblyList) { Type[] assemblyTypes = assembly.GetTypes(); _loadedTypesCache.AddRange(assemblyTypes); } And then I use this cache to do a variety of reflection operations, including 'registering' of factories, which involves looping through all loaded (cached) types and finding those that implement the (base) Factory interface. I've experienced what may be a similar problem in the past (.Net 3.5, so not exactly the same) with an architecture that involved dynamically creating classes on the server and streaming the compiled binary of those classes to the client app. The problem came when trying to deserialize an instance of the dynamic class on the client from a remote call: the exception said the class type was not know, even though the source and destination types were exactly the same name (including namespace). Basically the cross boundry versions of the class were not recognised as being the same. I solved that by intercepting the deserialization process and explicitly defining the deseriazation class type in the context of the local assemblies. This experience is what makes me think the types are considered mismatched because (somehow) the interface of the actual SomeClass object, and the interface of passed into the Generic method are not considered the same type. So (possibly) my question for those more knowledgable about C#/DotNet is: How does the class loading work that somehow my app thinks there are two versions/types of the interface type and how can I fit that? [ whew ... anyone who got here is quite patient .. thanks ]

  • How to set MinWorkingSet and MaxWorkingSet in a 64-bit .NET process?

    - by Gravitas
    How do I set MinWorkingSet and MaxWorking set for a 64-bit .NET process? p.s. I can set the MinWorkingSet and MaxWorking set for a 32-bit process, as follows: [DllImport("KERNEL32.DLL", EntryPoint = "SetProcessWorkingSetSize", SetLastError = true, CallingConvention = CallingConvention.StdCall)] internal static extern bool SetProcessWorkingSetSize(IntPtr pProcess, int dwMinimumWorkingSetSize, int dwMaximumWorkingSetSize); [DllImport("KERNEL32.DLL", EntryPoint = "GetCurrentProcess", SetLastError = true, CallingConvention = CallingConvention.StdCall)] internal static extern IntPtr MyGetCurrentProcess(); // In main(): SetProcessWorkingSetSize(Process.GetCurrentProcess().Handle, int.MaxValue, int.MaxValue); Update: Unfortunately, even if we do this call, the garbage collection trims the working set down anyway, bypassing MinWorkingSet (see "Automatic GC.Collect() in the diagram below). Question: Is there a way to lock the WorkingSet (the green line) to 1GB, to avoid the spike in page faults (the red lines) that occur when allocating new memory into the process? p.s. Every time a page fault occurs, it blocks the thread for 250us, which hits application performance badly.

  • Merging dictionaries in C#

    - by orip
    What's the best way to merge 2 or more dictionaries (Dictionary<T1,T2>) in C#? (3.0 features like LINQ are fine). I'm thinking of a method signature along the lines of: public static Dictionary<TKey,TValue> Merge<TKey,TValue>(Dictionary<TKey,TValue>[] dictionaries); or public static Dictionary<TKey,TValue> Merge<TKey,TValue>(IEnumerable<Dictionary<TKey,TValue>> dictionaries); EDIT: Got a cool solution from JaredPar and Jon Skeet, but I was thinking of something that handles duplicate keys. In case of collision, it doesn't matter which value is saved to the dict as long as it's consistent.

  • How to inject AutoMapper IMappingEngine with StructureMap

    - by Jay Walker
    Most of the examples I've found for Automapper use the static Mapper object for managing type mappings. For my project, I need to inject an IMapperEngine as part of object construction using StructureMap so that we can mock the mapper in unit tests so we can't use the static mapper. I also need to support configuring AutoMapper Profiles. My question is how can I configure the StructureMap registry so that it can supply an instance of IMappingEngine when an instance of MyService is constructed. Here is the Service constructor signature: public MyService(IMappingEngine mapper, IMyRepository myRepository, ILogger logger) And here is the StructureMap Registry public class MyRegistry : StructureMap.Configuration.DSL.Registry { public MyRegistry() { For<IMyRepository>().Use<MyRepository>(); For<ILogger>().Use<Logger>(); //what to do for IMappingEngine? } } And the profile I want to load public class MyAutoMapperProfile : AutoMapper.Profile { protected override void Configure() { this.CreateMap<MyModel, MyDTO>(); } }

  • HTTP client - HTTP 405 error "Method not allowed". I send a HTTP Post but for some reason HTTP Get i

    - by Shino88
    Hey I am using apache library. I have created a class which sends a post request to a servlet. I have set up the parameters for the client and i have created a HTTP post object to be sent but for some reason when i excute the request i get a reposnse that says the get method is not supported(which is true cause i have only made a dopost method in my servlet). It seems that a get request is being sent but i dont know why. The post method worked before but i started gettng http error 417 "Expectation Failed" which i fixed by adding paramenters. below is my class with the post method. P.s i am developing for android. public class HTTPrequestHelper { private final ResponseHandler<String> responseHandler; private static final String CLASSTAG = HTTPrequestHelper.class.getSimpleName(); private static final DefaultHttpClient client; static{ HttpParams params = new BasicHttpParams(); params.setParameter(CoreProtocolPNames.PROTOCOL_VERSION, HttpVersion.HTTP_1_1); params.setParameter(CoreProtocolPNames.HTTP_CONTENT_CHARSET, HTTP.UTF_8); ///params.setParameter(CoreProtocolPNames.USER_AGENT, "Android-x"); params.setParameter(CoreConnectionPNames.CONNECTION_TIMEOUT, 15000); params.setParameter(CoreConnectionPNames.STALE_CONNECTION_CHECK, false); SchemeRegistry schemeRegistry = new SchemeRegistry(); schemeRegistry.register( new Scheme("http", PlainSocketFactory.getSocketFactory(), 80)); schemeRegistry.register( new Scheme("https", SSLSocketFactory.getSocketFactory(), 443)); ThreadSafeClientConnManager cm = new ThreadSafeClientConnManager(params, schemeRegistry); client = new DefaultHttpClient(cm,params); } public HTTPrequestHelper(ResponseHandler<String> responseHandler) { this.responseHandler = responseHandler; } public void performrequest(String url, String para) { HttpPost post = new HttpPost(url); StringEntity parameters; try { parameters = new StringEntity(para); post.setEntity(parameters); } catch (UnsupportedEncodingException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } BasicHttpResponse errorResponse = new BasicHttpResponse( new ProtocolVersion("HTTP_ERROR", 1, 1), 500, "ERROR"); try { client.execute(post, this.responseHandler); } catch (Exception e) { errorResponse.setReasonPhrase(e.getMessage()); try { this.responseHandler.handleResponse(errorResponse); } catch (Exception ex) { Log.e( "ouch", "!!! • Can't connect to WCF service on Android

    - by illvm
    I am trying to connect to a .NET WCF service in Android using kSOAP2 (v 2.1.2), but I keep getting a fatal exception whenever I try to make the service call. I'm having a bit of difficulty tracking down the error and can't seem to figure out why it's happening. The code I am using is below: package org.example.android; import org.ksoap2.SoapEnvelope; import org.ksoap2.serialization.PropertyInfo; import org.ksoap2.serialization.SoapObject; import org.ksoap2.serialization.SoapSerializationEnvelope; import org.ksoap2.transport.HttpTransport; import android.app.Activity; import android.app.AlertDialog; import android.content.DialogInterface; import android.content.Intent; import android.os.Bundle; public class ValidateUser extends Activity { private static final String SOAP_ACTION = "http://tempuri.org/mobile/ValidateUser"; private static final String METHOD_NAME = "ValidateUser"; private static final String NAMESPACE = "http://tempuri.org/mobile/"; private static final String URL = "http://192.168.1.2:8002/WebService.Mobile.svc"; /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.validate_user); Intent intent = getIntent(); Bundle extras = intent.getExtras(); if (extras == null) { this.finish(); } String username = extras.getString("username"); String password = extras.getString("password"); Boolean validUser = false; try { SoapObject request = new SoapObject(NAMESPACE, METHOD_NAME); PropertyInfo uName = new PropertyInfo(); uName.name = "userName"; PropertyInfo pWord = new PropertyInfo(); pWord.name = "passWord"; request.addProperty(uName, username); request.addProperty(pWord, password); SoapSerializationEnvelope envelope = new SoapSerializationEnvelope(SoapEnvelope.VER11); envelope.dotNet = true; envelope.setOutputSoapObject(request); HttpTransport androidHttpTransport = new HttpTransport(URL); androidHttpTransport.call(SOAP_ACTION, envelope); // error occurs here Integer userId = (Integer)envelope.getResponse(); validUser = (userId != 0); } catch (Exception ex) { } } private void exit () { this.finish(); } } EDIT: Remove the old stack traces. In summary, the first problem was the program being unable to open a connection due to missing methods or libraries due to using vanilla kSOAP2 rather than a modified library for Android (kSOAP2-Android). The second issue was a settings issue. In the Manifest I did not add the following setting: <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET" /> I am now having an issue with the XMLPullParser which I need to figure out. 12-23 10:58:06.480: ERROR/SOCKETLOG(210): add_recv_stats recv 0 12-23 10:58:06.710: WARN/System.err(210): org.xmlpull.v1.XmlPullParserException: unexpected type (position:END_DOCUMENT null@1:0 in java.io.InputStreamReader@433fb070) 12-23 10:58:06.710: WARN/System.err(210): at org.kxml2.io.KXmlParser.exception(KXmlParser.java:243) 12-23 10:58:06.720: WARN/System.err(210): at org.kxml2.io.KXmlParser.nextTag(KXmlParser.java:1363) 12-23 10:58:06.720: WARN/System.err(210): at org.ksoap2.SoapEnvelope.parse(SoapEnvelope.java:126) 12-23 10:58:06.720: WARN/System.err(210): at org.ksoap2.transport.Transport.parseResponse(Transport.java:63) 12-23 10:58:06.720: WARN/System.err(210): at org.ksoap2.transport.HttpTransportSE.call(HttpTransportSE.java:100) 12-23 10:58:06.730: WARN/System.err(210): at org.example.android.ValidateUser.onCreate(ValidateUser.java:68) 12-23 10:58:06.730: WARN/System.err(210): at android.app.Instrumentation.callActivityOnCreate(Instrumentation.java:1122) 12-23 10:58:06.730: WARN/System.err(210): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2104) 12-23 10:58:06.730: WARN/System.err(210): at android.app.ActivityThread.handleLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2157) 12-23 10:58:06.730: WARN/System.err(210): at android.app.ActivityThread.access$1800(ActivityThread.java:112) 12-23 10:58:06.730: WARN/System.err(210): at android.app.ActivityThread$H.handleMessage(ActivityThread.java:1581) 12-23 10:58:06.730: WARN/System.err(210): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:88) 12-23 10:58:06.730: WARN/System.err(210): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) 12-23 10:58:06.730: WARN/System.err(210): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:3739) 12-23 10:58:06.730: WARN/System.err(210): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 12-23 10:58:06.730: WARN/System.err(210): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:515) 12-23 10:58:06.730: WARN/System.err(210): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:739) 12-23 10:58:06.730: WARN/System.err(210): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:497) 12-23 10:58:06.730: WARN/System.err(210): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method)

  • Facebook Connect - Security Warning

    - by Skoder
    Hey all, I'm using Facebook connect using FBML tags. Although it works, when I run the site in Internet Explorer, a security warning comes up similar to this: The current webpage is trying to open a site in your Trusted sites list. Do you want to allow this? Current site: http://www.facebook.com Trusted site: http://localhost" My Facebook code involves these two: http://static.ak.connect.facebook.com/js/api_lib/v0.4/FeatureLoader.js.php http://static.ak.connect.facebook.com/js/api_lib/v0.4/XdCommReceiver.js I tried changing them to HTTPS: https://ssl.connect... but the errors still appear. None of my pages use SSL. I've also tried turning facebook-logo='false' but still no luck. Any ideas on how to fix this? Although it's not show-stopping, it doesn't give a good impression to users who may be feel it insecure. Thanks

  • Html.EditorFor not updating model on post

    - by Dave
    I have a complex type composed of two nullable DateTimes: public class Period { public DateTime? Start { get; set; } public DateTime? End { get; set; } public static implicit operator string(Period period) { /* converts from Period to string */ } public static implicit operator Period(string value) { /* and back again */ } } I want to display them together in a single textbox as a date range so I can provide a nice jQuery UI date range selector. To make that happen have the following custom editor template: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<Period>" %> <% string name = ViewData.TemplateInfo.HtmlFieldPrefix; %> <%= Html.PeriodTextBox(name, Model.EarliestDate, Model.LatestDate) %> Where Html.PeriodTextBox is an extension method I've written that just concatenates the two dates sensibly, turns off autocomplete and generates a textbox, like so: public static MvcHelperString PeriodTextBox(this HtmlHelper helper, string name, DateTime? startDate, DateTime? endDate) { TagBuilder builder = new TagBuilder("input"); builder.GenerateId(name); builder.Attributes.Add("name", name); builder.Attributes.Add("type", "text"); builder.Attributes.Add("autocomplete", "off"); builder.Attributes.Add("value", ConcatDates(startDate, endDate)); return MvcHtmlString.Create(builder.ToString()); } That's working fine in that I can call <%= Html.EditorFor(m => m.ReportPeriod) %> and I get my textbox, then when the form is submitted the FormCollection passed to the post action will contain an entry named ReportPeriod with the correct value. [HttpPost] public ActionResult ReportByRange(FormCollection formValues) { Period reportPeriod = formValues["ReportPeriod"]; // creates a Period, with the expected values } The problem is if I replace the FormCollection with the model type I'm passing to the view then the ReportPeriod property never gets set. [HttpPost] public ActionResult ReportByRange(ReportViewModel viewModel) { Period reportPeriod = viewModel.ReportPeriod; // this is null } I expected MVC would try to set the string from the textbox to that property and it would automatically generate a Period (as in my FormCollection example), but it's not. How do I tell the textbox I've generated in the custom editor to poplate that property on the model?

  • How to fix a NHibernate lazy loading error "no session or session was closed"?

    - by MCardinale
    I'm developing a website with ASP.NET MVC, NHibernate and Fluent Hibernate and getting the error "no session or session was closed" when I try to access a child object. These are my domain classes: public class ImageGallery { public virtual int Id { get; set; } public virtual string Title { get; set; } public virtual IList<Image> Images { get; set; } } public class Image { public virtual int Id { get; set; } public virtual ImageGallery ImageGallery { get; set; } public virtual string File { get; set; } } These are my maps: public class ImageGalleryMap:ClassMap<ImageGallery> { public ImageGalleryMap() { Id(x => x.Id); Map(x => x.Title); HasMany(x => x.Images); } } public class ImageMap:ClassMap<Image> { public ImageMap() { Id(x => x.Id); References(x => x.ImageGallery); Map(x => x.File); } } And this is my Session Factory helper class: public class NHibernateSessionFactory { private static ISessionFactory _sessionFactory; private static ISessionFactory SessionFactory { get { if(_sessionFactory == null) { _sessionFactory = Fluently.Configure() .Database(MySQLConfiguration.Standard.ConnectionString(MyConnString)) .Mappings(m => m.FluentMappings.AddFromAssemblyOf<ImageGalleryMap>()) .ExposeConfiguration(c => c.Properties.Add("hbm2ddl.keywords", "none")) .BuildSessionFactory(); } return _sessionFactory; } } public static ISession OpenSession() { return SessionFactory.OpenSession(); } } Everything works fine, when I get ImageGallery from database using this code: IImageGalleryRepository igr = new ImageGalleryRepository(); ImageGallery ig = igr.GetById(1); But, when I try to access the Image child object with this code string imageFile = ig.Images[1].File; I get this error: Initializing[Entities.ImageGallery#1]-failed to lazily initialize a collection of role: Entities.ImageGallery.Images, no session or session was closed Someone know how can I fix this? Thank you very much!

  • Entity Framework 4.0 and DDD patterns

    - by Voice
    Hi everybody I use EntityFramework as ORM and I have simple POCO Domain Model with two base classes that represent Value Object and Entity Object Patterns (Evans). These two patterns is all about equality of two objects, so I overrode Equals and GetHashCode methods. Here are these two classes: public abstract class EntityObject<T>{ protected T _ID = default(T); public T ID { get { return _ID; } protected set { _ID = value; } } public sealed override bool Equals(object obj) { EntityObject<T> compareTo = obj as EntityObject<T>; return (compareTo != null) && ((HasSameNonDefaultIdAs(compareTo) || (IsTransient && compareTo.IsTransient)) && HasSameBusinessSignatureAs(compareTo)); } public virtual void MakeTransient() { _ID = default(T); } public bool IsTransient { get { return _ID == null || _ID.Equals(default(T)); } } public override int GetHashCode() { if (default(T).Equals(_ID)) return 0; return _ID.GetHashCode(); } private bool HasSameBusinessSignatureAs(EntityObject<T> compareTo) { return ToString().Equals(compareTo.ToString()); } private bool HasSameNonDefaultIdAs(EntityObject<T> compareTo) { return (_ID != null && !_ID.Equals(default(T))) && (compareTo._ID != null && !compareTo._ID.Equals(default(T))) && _ID.Equals(compareTo._ID); } public override string ToString() { StringBuilder str = new StringBuilder(); str.Append(" Class: ").Append(GetType().FullName); if (!IsTransient) str.Append(" ID: " + _ID); return str.ToString(); } } public abstract class ValueObject<T, U> : IEquatable<T> where T : ValueObject<T, U> { private static List<PropertyInfo> Properties { get; set; } private static Func<ValueObject<T, U>, PropertyInfo, object[], object> _GetPropValue; static ValueObject() { Properties = new List<PropertyInfo>(); var propParam = Expression.Parameter(typeof(PropertyInfo), "propParam"); var target = Expression.Parameter(typeof(ValueObject<T, U>), "target"); var indexPar = Expression.Parameter(typeof(object[]), "indexPar"); var call = Expression.Call(propParam, typeof(PropertyInfo).GetMethod("GetValue", new[] { typeof(object), typeof(object[]) }), new[] { target, indexPar }); var lambda = Expression.Lambda<Func<ValueObject<T, U>, PropertyInfo, object[], object>>(call, target, propParam, indexPar); _GetPropValue = lambda.Compile(); } public U ID { get; protected set; } public override Boolean Equals(Object obj) { if (ReferenceEquals(null, obj)) return false; if (obj.GetType() != GetType()) return false; return Equals(obj as T); } public Boolean Equals(T other) { if (ReferenceEquals(null, other)) return false; if (ReferenceEquals(this, other)) return true; foreach (var property in Properties) { var oneValue = _GetPropValue(this, property, null); var otherValue = _GetPropValue(other, property, null); if (null == oneValue && null == otherValue) return false; if (false == oneValue.Equals(otherValue)) return false; } return true; } public override Int32 GetHashCode() { var hashCode = 36; foreach (var property in Properties) { var propertyValue = _GetPropValue(this, property, null); if (null == propertyValue) continue; hashCode = hashCode ^ propertyValue.GetHashCode(); } return hashCode; } public override String ToString() { var stringBuilder = new StringBuilder(); foreach (var property in Properties) { var propertyValue = _GetPropValue(this, property, null); if (null == propertyValue) continue; stringBuilder.Append(propertyValue.ToString()); } return stringBuilder.ToString(); } protected static void RegisterProperty(Expression<Func<T, Object>> expression) { MemberExpression memberExpression; if (ExpressionType.Convert == expression.Body.NodeType) { var body = (UnaryExpression)expression.Body; memberExpression = body.Operand as MemberExpression; } else memberExpression = expression.Body as MemberExpression; if (null == memberExpression) throw new InvalidOperationException("InvalidMemberExpression"); Properties.Add(memberExpression.Member as PropertyInfo); } } Everything was OK until I tried to delete some related objects (aggregate root object with two dependent objects which was marked for cascade deletion): I've got an exception "The relationship could not be changed because one or more of the foreign-key properties is non-nullable". I googled this and found http://blog.abodit.com/2010/05/the-relationship-could-not-be-changed-because-one-or-more-of-the-foreign-key-properties-is-non-nullable/ I changed GetHashCode to base.GetHashCode() and error disappeared. But now it breaks all my code: I can't override GetHashCode for my POCO objects = I can't override Equals = I can't implement Value Object and Entity Object patters for my POCO objects. So, I appreciate any solutions, workarounds here etc.

  • Spark-View-Engine with ASP.NET MVC2

    - by Ben
    How do you modify a ASP.NET MVC 2.0 project to work with the Spark View Engine? I tried like described here: http://dotnetslackers.com/articles/aspnet/installing-the-spark-view-engine-into-asp-net-mvc-2-preview-2.aspx But somehow it still tries to route to .aspx files. Here the code of my global.asax: public class MvcApplication : System.Web.HttpApplication { public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes) { routes.IgnoreRoute("{resource}.axd/{*pathInfo}"); routes.MapRoute( "Default", // Route name "{controller}/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = "" } // Parameter defaults ); } protected void Application_Start() { SparkViewFactory svf = new SparkViewFactory(); PrecompileViews(svf); AreaRegistration.RegisterAllAreas(); RegisterRoutes(RouteTable.Routes); } public static void PrecompileViews(SparkViewFactory svf) { var controllerFactory = svf; var viewFactory = new SparkViewFactory(controllerFactory.Settings); var batch = new SparkBatchDescriptor(); batch .For<HomeController>() .For<AccountController>(); viewFactory.Precompile(batch); } } }

  • Syntax error on token "QUOTE", VariableDeclaratorId expected after this token

    - by user356812
    I've posted a bigger chunk of the code below. You can see that initially QUOTE was procedural- coded in place. I'm trying to learn how to use declarative design so I want to do the same thing but by using resources. It seems like I need to access the string.xml thru the @R.id tag and identify QUOTE with that string value. But I don't know enough to negotiate this. Any tips? Thanks! public class circle extends Activity { @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(new GraphicsView(this)); } static public class GraphicsView extends View { //private static final String QUOTE = "Happy Birthday to David."; private final String QUOTE = getString(R.string.quote); ..... @Override protected void onDraw(Canvas canvas) { // Drawing commands go here canvas.drawPath(circle, cPaint); canvas.drawTextOnPath(QUOTE, circle, 0, 20, tPaint);

  • SPP Socket createRfcommSocketToServiceRecord will not connect

    - by philDev
    Hello, I want to use Android 2.1 to connect to an external Bluetooth device, wich is offering an SPP port to me. In this case it is an external GPS unit. When I'm trying to connect I can't connect an established socket while being in the "client" mode. Then if I try to set up a socket (being in the server role), to RECEIVE text from my PC everything works just fine. The Computer can connect as the client to the Socket on the Phone via SPP using the SSP UUID or some random UUID. So the Problem is not that I'm using the wrong UUID. But the other way around (e.g. calling connect on the established client socket) createRfcommSocketToServiceRecord(UUID uuid)) just doesn't work. Sadly I don't have the time to inspect the problem further. It would be greate If somebody could point me the right way. In the following part of the Logfile has to be the Problem. Greets PhilDev P.S. I'm going to be present during the Office hours. Here the log file: 03-21 03:10:52.020: DEBUG/BluetoothSocket.cpp(4643): initSocketFromFdNative 03-21 03:10:52.025: DEBUG/BluetoothSocket(4643): connect 03-21 03:10:52.025: DEBUG/BluetoothSocket(4643): doSdp 03-21 03:10:52.050: DEBUG/ADAPTER(2132): create_device(01:00:00:7F:B5:B3) 03-21 03:10:52.050: DEBUG/ADAPTER(2132): adapter_create_device(01:00:00:7F:B5:B3) 03-21 03:10:52.055: DEBUG/DEVICE(2132): Creating device [address = 01:00:00:7F:B5:B3] /org/bluez/2132/hci0/dev_01_00_00_7F_B5_B3 [name = ] 03-21 03:10:52.055: DEBUG/DEVICE(2132): btd_device_ref(0x10c18): ref=1 03-21 03:10:52.065: INFO/BluetoothEventLoop.cpp(1914): event_filter: Received signal org.bluez.Adapter:DeviceCreated from /org/bluez/2132/hci0 03-21 03:10:52.065: INFO/BluetoothService.cpp(1914): ...     Hi In a wpf project I have this XAML code <Window xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:d="http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/blend/2008" xmlns:mc="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/markup-compatibility/2006" mc:Ignorable="d" xmlns:ic="clr-namespace:Microsoft.Expression.Interactivity.Core;assembly=Microsoft.Expression.Interactions" x:Class="WpfApplication1.MainWindow" xmlns:vsm="clr-namespace:System.Windows;assembly=WPFToolkit" x:Name="Window" Title="MainWindow" Width="640" Height="480"> <vsm:VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups> <vsm:VisualStateGroup x:Name="VisualStateGroup"> <vsm:VisualState x:Name="Loading"> <Storyboard> <ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames BeginTime="00:00:00" Duration="00:00:00.0010000" Storyboard.TargetName="control" Storyboard.TargetProperty="(UIElement.Visibility)"> <DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00" Value="{x:Static Visibility.Visible}"/> </ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames> <ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames BeginTime="00:00:00" Duration="00:00:00.0010000" Storyboard.TargetName="button" Storyboard.TargetProperty="(UIElement.Visibility)"> <DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00" Value="{x:Static Visibility.Collapsed}"/> </ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames> <ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames BeginTime="00:00:00" Duration="00:00:00.0010000" Storyboard.TargetName="button1" Storyboard.TargetProperty="(UIElement.Visibility)"> <DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00" Value="{x:Static Visibility.Visible}"/> </ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames> </Storyboard> </vsm:VisualState> <VisualState x:Name="Normal"> <Storyboard> <ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames BeginTime="00:00:00" Duration="00:00:00.0010000" Storyboard.TargetName="control" Storyboard.TargetProperty="(UIElement.Visibility)"> <DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00" Value="{x:Static Visibility.Collapsed}"/> </ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames> </Storyboard> </VisualState> </vsm:VisualStateGroup> </vsm:VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups> <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot"> <Grid.Resources> <ControlTemplate x:Key="loadingAnimation"> <Image x:Name="content" Opacity="1"> <Image.Source> <DrawingImage> <DrawingImage.Drawing> <DrawingGroup> <GeometryDrawing Brush="Transparent"> <GeometryDrawing.Geometry> <RectangleGeometry Rect="0,0,1,1"/> </GeometryDrawing.Geometry> </GeometryDrawing> <DrawingGroup> <DrawingGroup.Transform> <RotateTransform x:Name="angle" Angle="0" CenterX="0.5" CenterY="0.5"/> </DrawingGroup.Transform> <GeometryDrawing Geometry="M0.9,0.5 A0.4,0.4,90,1,1,0.5,0.1"> <GeometryDrawing.Pen> <Pen Brush="Green" Thickness="0.1"/> </GeometryDrawing.Pen> </GeometryDrawing> <GeometryDrawing Brush="Green" Geometry="M0.5,0 L0.7,0.1 L0.5,0.2"/> </DrawingGroup> </DrawingGroup> </DrawingImage.Drawing> </DrawingImage> </Image.Source> </Image> <ControlTemplate.Triggers> <Trigger Property="Visibility" Value="Visible"> <Trigger.EnterActions> <BeginStoryboard x:Name="animation"> <Storyboard> <DoubleAnimation From="0" To="359" Duration="0:0:1.5" RepeatBehavior="Forever" Storyboard.TargetName="angle" Storyboard.TargetProperty="Angle"/> </Storyboard> </BeginStoryboard> </Trigger.EnterActions> <Trigger.ExitActions> <StopStoryboard BeginStoryboardName="animation"/> </Trigger.ExitActions> </Trigger> </ControlTemplate.Triggers> </ControlTemplate> </Grid.Resources> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition MinWidth="76.128" Width="Auto"/> <ColumnDefinition MinWidth="547.872" Width="Auto"/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="0.05*"/> <RowDefinition Height="0.95*"/> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <Button x:Name="button" Margin="0,0,1,0.04" Width="100" Content="Load" d:LayoutOverrides="Height" Click="Button_Click"/> <Button x:Name="button1" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Margin="0,0,0,0.04" Width="100" Content="Stop" Grid.Column="1" d:LayoutOverrides="Height" Click="Button2_Click" Visibility="Collapsed"/> <Control x:Name="control" Margin="10" Height="100" Grid.Row="1" Grid.ColumnSpan="2" Width="100" Template="{DynamicResource loadingAnimation}" Visibility="Collapsed"/> </Grid> </Window> and the following code behind on the window public partial class MainWindow : Window { public MainWindow() { this.InitializeComponent(); } private void Button1_Click(object sender, System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs e) { VisualStateManager.GoToState(this, "Loading", true); } private void Button2_Click(object sender, System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs e) { VisualStateManager.GoToState(this, "Normal", true); } } However, when I click the first button (button1) the state change is not being triggered.   • Hooking into AppInitialize with WCF service

    - by Mark
    Hi, Im having issues with my WCF service. I need to do a windsor container injection pre application_start and noticed i can use the AppInitialise method. It works on visual studio debug but when I deploy to IIS the code does not get fired.. I initialized the class as follows public static class Class1 { public static void AppInitialize() { IWindsorContainer container; container = new WindsorContainer("windsor.xml"); container.AddFacility(); container.Resolve(); } } Is there any special task i need to do to get this to work on IIS. Im using version 6. Thanks!

  • WPF ComboBox Binding breaks when using ControlTemplate

    - by Mitch
    I have a WPF ComboBox that has been working fine until I recently created a ControlTemplate for it to enable me to change the color of the DropDown arrow. The ComboBox still works correctly except the Bound Text value now just shows the name of the Business Object rather than the bound value. I guess that binding like Text="{Binding Path=CaseDateRange}" no longer works when using a ControlTemplate, yet the ItemsSource binding on the dropdown seems to still work fine. Can anyone offer some help with how I need to change my binding when using a ControlTemplate. The code for the ControlTemplate and ComboBox is as follows <ControlTemplate x:Key="ComboBoxControlTemplate1" TargetType="{x:Type ComboBox}"> <Grid x:Name="MainGrid" SnapsToDevicePixels="True"> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="*"/> <ColumnDefinition MinWidth="{DynamicResource {x:Static SystemParameters.VerticalScrollBarWidthKey}}" Width="0"/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Popup x:Name="PART_Popup" AllowsTransparency="True" Grid.ColumnSpan="2" IsOpen="{Binding IsDropDownOpen, RelativeSource={RelativeSource TemplatedParent}}" Margin="1" PopupAnimation="{DynamicResource {x:Static SystemParameters.ComboBoxPopupAnimationKey}}" Placement="Bottom" OpacityMask="#FF2A3D64"> <Microsoft_Windows_Themes:SystemDropShadowChrome x:Name="Shdw" Color="Transparent" MaxHeight="{TemplateBinding MaxDropDownHeight}" MinWidth="{Binding ActualWidth, ElementName=MainGrid}"> <Border x:Name="DropDownBorder" BorderBrush="White" BorderThickness="1" CornerRadius="3" Background="{DynamicResource DialogDarkBlue}"> <ScrollViewer x:Name="DropDownScrollViewer" > <Grid RenderOptions.ClearTypeHint="Enabled"> <Canvas HorizontalAlignment="Left" Height="0" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="0"> <Rectangle x:Name="OpaqueRect" Fill="{Binding Background, ElementName=DropDownBorder}" Height="{Binding ActualHeight, ElementName=DropDownBorder}" Width="{Binding ActualWidth, ElementName=DropDownBorder}"/> </Canvas> <ItemsPresenter x:Name="ItemsPresenter" KeyboardNavigation.DirectionalNavigation="Contained" SnapsToDevicePixels="{TemplateBinding SnapsToDevicePixels}"/> </Grid> </ScrollViewer> </Border> </Microsoft_Windows_Themes:SystemDropShadowChrome> </Popup> <ToggleButton BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" Grid.ColumnSpan="2" IsChecked="{Binding IsDropDownOpen, Mode=TwoWay, RelativeSource={RelativeSource TemplatedParent}}" Foreground="White"> <ToggleButton.Style> <Style TargetType="{x:Type ToggleButton}"> <Setter Property="OverridesDefaultStyle" Value="True"/> <Setter Property="IsTabStop" Value="False"/> <Setter Property="Focusable" Value="False"/> <Setter Property="ClickMode" Value="Press"/> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type ToggleButton}"> <Microsoft_Windows_Themes:ButtonChrome x:Name="Chrome" BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" RenderMouseOver="{TemplateBinding IsMouseOver}" RenderPressed="{TemplateBinding IsPressed}" SnapsToDevicePixels="True"> <Grid HorizontalAlignment="Right" Width="{DynamicResource {x:Static SystemParameters.VerticalScrollBarWidthKey}}"> <Path x:Name="Arrow" Data="M0,0L3.5,4 7,0z" Fill="White" HorizontalAlignment="Center" Margin="3,1,0,0" VerticalAlignment="Center"/> </Grid> </Microsoft_Windows_Themes:ButtonChrome> <ControlTemplate.Triggers> <Trigger Property="IsChecked" Value="True"> <Setter Property="RenderPressed" TargetName="Chrome" Value="True"/> </Trigger> <Trigger Property="IsEnabled" Value="False"> <Setter Property="Fill" TargetName="Arrow" Value="#FFAFAFAF"/> </Trigger> </ControlTemplate.Triggers> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> </ToggleButton.Style> </ToggleButton> <ContentPresenter ContentTemplate="{TemplateBinding SelectionBoxItemTemplate}" Content="{TemplateBinding SelectionBoxItem}" ContentStringFormat="{TemplateBinding SelectionBoxItemStringFormat}" HorizontalAlignment="{TemplateBinding HorizontalContentAlignment}" IsHitTestVisible="False" Margin="{TemplateBinding Padding}" SnapsToDevicePixels="{TemplateBinding SnapsToDevicePixels}" VerticalAlignment="{TemplateBinding VerticalContentAlignment}"/> </Grid> <ControlTemplate.Triggers> <Trigger Property="HasDropShadow" SourceName="PART_Popup" Value="True"> <Setter Property="Margin" TargetName="Shdw" Value="0,0,5,5"/> <Setter Property="Color" TargetName="Shdw" Value="#71000000"/> </Trigger> <Trigger Property="HasItems" Value="False"> <Setter Property="Height" TargetName="DropDownBorder" Value="95"/> </Trigger> <Trigger Property="IsEnabled" Value="False"> <Setter Property="Foreground" Value="{DynamicResource {x:Static SystemColors.GrayTextBrushKey}}"/> <Setter Property="Background" Value="#FFF4F4F4"/> </Trigger> <Trigger Property="IsGrouping" Value="True"> <Setter Property="ScrollViewer.CanContentScroll" Value="False"/> </Trigger> <Trigger Property="CanContentScroll" SourceName="DropDownScrollViewer" Value="False"> <Setter Property="Canvas.Top" TargetName="OpaqueRect" Value="{Binding VerticalOffset, ElementName=DropDownScrollViewer}"/> <Setter Property="Canvas.Left" TargetName="OpaqueRect" Value="{Binding HorizontalOffset, ElementName=DropDownScrollViewer}"/> </Trigger> </ControlTemplate.Triggers> </ControlTemplate> And the ComboBox is <ComboBox x:Name="cboSelectedCase" Text="{Binding Path=CaseDateRange}" DisplayMemberPath="CaseDateRange" SelectedValuePath="CaseID" Template="{DynamicResource ComboBoxControlTemplate1}" />
