  • Facebook: Requires a valid user is specified (either via the session or via the API parameter for specifying the user.

    - by Stoic
    Hey Everyone, I am receiving this error: Requires a valid user is specified (either via the session or via the API parameter for specifying the user. when I am trying to utilize Facebook's FB.api with JS SDK for method: users.hasAppPermission I am constantly receiving this error, for any uid I pass on. Here is my code: $(document).ready(function() { var perms_requested = <?php echo PERMS;?>; var user_id = <?=$user_id;?>; $('#perms_check').html(loading); ask_for_perms(perms_requested, function(data) { $('#perms_check').html(data); }); function ask_for_perms(perms_requested,cb) { var request = []; $.each(perms_requested,function(i,permission) { FB.api({ method: 'users.hasAppPermission', ext_perm: permission, uid: user_id }, function(response) { if (response == 0) request.push(permission); if (i == perms_requested.length - 1) cb(request.join(', ')); }); }); } }); Also, I am utilizing nearly the same code in some other part of the same application, and I am getting fine results with that.

  • Doubt about a particular pattern of Javascript class definition

    - by fenderplayer
    Recently i saw the following code that creates a class in javascript: var Model.Foo = function(){ // private stuff var a, b; // public properties this.attr1 = ''; this.attr2 = ''; if(Model.Foo._init === 'undefined'){ Model.Foo.prototype = { func1 : function(){ //...}, func2 : function(){ //... }, //other prototype functions } } Model.Foo._init = true; } // Instantiate and use the class as follows: var foo = new Model.Foo(); foo.func1(); I guess the _init variable is used to make sure we don't define the prototypes again. Also, i feel the code is more readable since i am placing everything in a function block (so in oop-speak, all attributes and methods are in one place). Do you see any issues with the code above? Any pitfalls of using this pattern if i need to create lots of classes in a big project?

  • How to change the opacity (alpha, transparency) of an element in a canvas element after it has been

    - by Joe Lencioni
    Using the HTML5 <canvas> element, I would like to load an image file (PNG, JPEG, etc.), draw it to the canvas completely transparently, and then fade it in. I have figured out how to load the image and draw it to the canvas, but I don't know how to change its opacity once it as been drawn. Here's the code I have so far: var canvas = document.getElementById('myCanvas'); if (canvas.getContext) { var c = canvas.getContext('2d'); c.globalAlpha = 0; var img = new Image(); img.onload = function() { c.drawImage(img, 0, 0); } img.src = 'image.jpg'; } Will somebody please point me in the right direction like a property to set or a function to call that will change the opacity? Thanks!

  • Iterating through facebook comments JSON object failing

    - by user1594304
    I tried the option of students.item["http://www.myurl.com"].comments.data.length. However, the item["http://www.myurl.com"] call is not working. If I take out the URL from JSON object and write the iterator with students.comments.data, it works. Here is my code, any help highly appreciated. var students = { "http://www.myurl.com":{ "comments":{ "data" : [ { "id": "123456778", "from": { "name": "XYZ", "id": "1000005" }, "message": "Hey", "can_remove": false, "created_time": "2012-09-03T03:16:01+0000", "like_count": 0, "user_likes": false } ] } } } var i=0 var arrayObject = new Array(); alert("Parsing 2: "+students.item["http://www.myurl.com"].comments.data.length); for(i=0;i<students.item["http://www.myurl.com"].comments.data.length;i++) { alert("Parsing 1: "+i); arrayObject.push(students.item["http://www.myurl.com"].comments.data[i].id); arrayObject.push(students.item["http://www.myurl.com"].comments.data[i].message); arrayObject.push(students.item["http://www.myurl.com"].comments.data[i].created_time); }

  • How to test that action uses argument?

    - by Caster Troy
    I am supposed to be using test-driven development but in this particular case, as I am having trouble, I implemented the action method first. It looks like this: public ViewResult Index(int pageNumber = 1) { var posts = repository.All(); var model = new PagedList<Post>(posts, pageNumber, PageSize); return View(model); } Both the repository and the PagedList<> have been tested already. Now I want to verify that when the action is given a page number that the page number is actually considered. private Mock<IPostsRepository> repository; private HomeController controller; [Test] public void Index_Doohickey() { var actual = controller.Index(2); // .. How do I test that the controller actually uses the page number here? }

  • Convert unusual string into date time

    - by BlueChippy
    I have a system that outputs dates in the format "1{yy}{MM}{dd}" and I am trying to find a good way to parse it back into a real date. At the moment I am using this: var value = "1110825"; var z = Enumerable.Range(1,3).Select(i => int.Parse(value.Substring(i, 2))).ToList(); var d = new DateTime(2000 + z[0], z[1], z[2]); but I'm sure there's a cleaner/more efficient way to do it? I've tried DT.ParseExact, but can't find a suitable format string to use.

  • stored context in a JQuery variable does not work

    - by user203687
    The following works fine: $(function() { EnableDisableButtons(); $('#TextBox1').keyup(function() { EnableDisableButtons(); }); }); function EnableDisableButtons() { var len = $('#TextBox1').val().length; if (len == 0) { $("#Button1").attr("disabled", "disabled"); } else { $("#Button1").attr("disabled", ""); } } But the following does not work at all: var txt = $('#TextBox1'); $(function() { EnableDisableButtons(); txt.keyup(function() { EnableDisableButtons(); }); }); function EnableDisableButtons() { var len = txt.val().length; if (len == 0) { $("#Button1").attr("disabled", "disabled"); } else { $("#Button1").attr("disabled", ""); } } The error it was throwing was " 'txt.val().length' is null or not an object". Can anyone help me on this. thanks

  • Running a packaged exe in the same folder as the installed firefox extension

    - by mustafabar
    I have read this thread, and some other How to run a local exe in my firefox extension The problem is, at deployment and using firefox 4.0.1, if I install the .xpi extension, the xpi is put inside the \Profiles...\extensions as **.xpi, which is a compressed format All the solutions assume that the the extension is put in a folder, thus they are accessing the folder as is, which I cannot do for example this guy says //**** get profile folder path **** var dsprops = Components.classes['@mozilla.org/file/directory_service;1'] .getService(Components.interfaces.nsIProperties); var ProfilePath = dsprops.get("ProfD", Components.interfaces.nsIFile).path; //**** initialize file **** var file = Components.classes["@mozilla.org/file/local;1"] .createInstance(Components.interfaces.nsILocalFile); file.initWithPath(ProfilePath); //**** append each step in the path **** file.append("extensions"); file.append("guid"); file.append("sample.exe"); guid in my case is installed as {f13b157f-b174-47e7-a34d-4815ddfdfeb8}.xpi which cannot be accessible this way

  • How to keep a floating div centered on window resize (jQuery/CSS)

    - by Jimbo
    Is there a way (without binding to the window.resize event) to force a floating DIV to re-center itself when the browser window is resized? To help explain, I imagine the pseudocode would look something like: div.left = 50% - (div.width / 2) div.top = 50% - (div.height / 2) UPDATE My query having been answered below, I wanted to post the final outcome of my quest - a jQuery extension method allowing you to center any block element - hope it helps someone else too. jQuery.fn.center = function() { var container = $(window); var top = -this.height() / 2; var left = -this.width() / 2; return this.css('position', 'absolute').css({ 'margin-left': left + 'px', 'margin-top': top + 'px', 'left': '50%', 'top': '50%' }); } Usage: $('#mydiv').center();

  • jQuery clone( true ) not working with dynamic elements

    - by elclanrs
    Take the following example: $.fn.foo = function() { var $input = $('<input type="text"/>'); var $button_one = $('<button>One</button>'); var $button_two = $('<button>Two</button>'); $button_one.click(function(){ $input.val('hey'); }); $button_two.click(function(){ $input.replaceWith( $input.val('').clone( true ) ); }); this.append($input, $button_one, $button_two); }; Check the demo: http://jsbin.com/ezexah/1/edit Now click "one" and you should see "hey" in the input. Next click "two" and then click "one" again and it doesn't work. Even using the true option in clone to copy all events it still does not work. Any ideas?

  • Ruby forwarding method calls

    - by JP
    I have an instance of a master class which generates instances of a subclass, these subclasses need to forward some method calls back to the master instance. At the moment I have code looking something like this, but it feels like I should be able to do the same thing more efficiently (maybe with method_missing?) class Master def initalize(mynum) @mynum = mynum end def one_thing(subinstance) "One thing with #{subinstance.var} from #{@mynum}" end def four_things(subinstance) "Four things with #{subinstance.var} from #{@mynum}" end def many_things(times,subinstance) "#{times} things with #{subinstance.var} from #{@mynum}" end def make_a_sub(uniqueness) Subthing.new(uniqueness,self) end class Subthing def initialize(uniqueness,master) @u = uniqueness @master = master end # Here I'm forwarding method calls def one_thing master.one_thing(self) end def four_things master.four_things(self) end def many_things(times) master.many_things(times,self) end end end m = Master.new(42) s = m.make_a_sub("very") s.one_thing === m.one_thing(s) s.many_things(8) === m.many_things(8,s) I hope you can see what's going on here. I would use method_missing, but I'm not sure how to cope with the possibility of some calls having arguments and some not (I can't really rearrange the order of the arguments to the Master methods either) Thanks for reading!

  • Why does set key not do anything in AES/SymmetricAlgorithm?

    - by acidzombie24
    This MESSED ME UP hard. I thought i was setting the key but i was not. No exceptions, nothing happen except bad results. Why is there a setter if everything is ignored and no exceptions are thrown when i attempt to write? What is the point of the setter on the Keys property? When i do the below Key value are not changed. After an hour when i realize what was happening i wrote the loop to verify. I also tried aes.Key[0] = val; var b = val == aes.Key[0]; (and messed with it in immediate mode). Why does it have this behavior? Array.Copy(myKey, aes.Key, aes.Key.Length); int i = 0; foreach (var v in aes.Key) { var b = myKey[i++] == v; if (!b) b = b; }

  • javascript / jQuery variable problem (possibly caching issue)

    - by waitinforatrain
    Standard AJAX query with jQuery: var globalTitle = ""; var pages = ["a", "b", "c"]; for (var i = 0; i < pages.length; i++) { createpage(pages[i]); } function createpage(title) { globalTitle=title; console.log (globalTitle); //All looks good here $.ajax({ url: "createpage.php?id=" + title, context: document.body, success: success }); } The success() function uses globaltitle which is why I had to declare it global. In the success() function though console.log (globalTitle); constantly gives me "a". It's like the variable is assigned but is then cached every time success() is called. Happens in FF 4 and Chrome 8. Any thoughts?

  • "And" condition in C#/LINQ Query

    - by user1213055
    partial void PrintDocLetter1_CanExecute(ref bool result) { if (this.PatientsMasterItem.DoctorsMasterItem != null) { var Doctor = PatientsMasterItem.DoctorsMasterItem; var PatientList = Doctor.PatientsMasterItem; var Letters = PatientsMasterItem.LettersSentItem; if ((PatientList.Count() > 1) && (Letters.Any(i => i.LetterType == "DoctorLetter1"))) { result = false; } else { result = true; } } } I think something is wrong with my second condition. I'm trying to find two things. 1) Doctors with more than 1 patient. 2) Among those patients whether a lettertype called "DoctorLetter1" has been sent or not. The above code is working good for that particular record but not working other patients with same doctors where patient1 has already been sent with DoctorLetter1.
