  • How can I install .NET framework 3.5 on XP machines without internet connection?

    I want to install .NET framework 3.5 on a couple of machines that do not have internet access. If I install the "no internet access"-package it still wants to download something. How can I figure out what is missing? Are there other installation packages? Edit: I would present screenshots but I cannot upload anything from here and the shots would be in german. So I present only the text translated back to english... Installing the "full redistributable package": At the bottom of the license agreement page it display this text: Size of download file: 67 MB Appoximate download time: 2h 44min (56KBit/s) 18min (512KBit/s) It shows the text even if I installed Windows Installer 3.1. After agreeing it displays the "Download and Installation Status"-Dialog with a progress bar labeled "Download:" and Status: Connection to server attempted (try X of 5). Total Download Status: 56MB/67MB I tried it in a VM with no network connection. It tries 5 times while the progress bar shows progress. Later the progress bar is labeled "Installation:". Even later it reports problems during setup and provides two buttons "Send Report Later" and "Don't Send". Now here it comes: "Setup completed" and "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 has been deinstalled successfully." (Emphasis is mine) "It is recommended to install current service packs and security updates. More information at Windows Update (link)." Edit2: Installed Service Pack 3, but still no success.

    Hi Is there any (ideally open source) software for Windows that can be used on a PC, to monitor the usage of internet from that PC? It would need to include both browser and non-browser sources (e.g. a service that sync's calendar to gmail). So any software on your PC that uses would need to be configured to point to this local internet monitoring software/proxy. The monitoring software/proxy then would be configured to point to the company proxy server (address, port & credentials). Things that come to mind that might be close but not really focused on solving this might be perhaps: Charles Proxy, Fiddler 2, SQUID? The idea would be it could give you a daily/weekly/monthly report of internet upload/download usage on a per program/process/service basis for the PC it is being run on. thanks

  • Map localhost to IP address on Windows XP & Internet Explorer 7+?

    I'm trying to map 'localhost' to an IP address elsewhere on the network, say '10.0.1.1' for example. I've tried editing my hosts file, changing the entry from: 127.0.0.1 localhost to 10.0.1.1 localhost with no luck. The closest I've gotten is using DNS spoofing via Charles. Adding a DNS spoof entry mapping the host name 'localhost' to '10.0.1.1' works fine in Firefox, but fails in Internet Explorer, basically showing IE's 404 page. I'm wondering if there's some specific setting or way I can get DNS spoofing to work in IE? The main issue I'm trying to resolve is that our development environment points to 'localhost' and rather than setting the dev env up in a legacy Windows laptop to try and debug, point to a server that has it all setup and I can make the changes remotely.

  • ms excel 2010 in windows xp - when open workbook the data is formatted differently than when i saved it

    I haven't been able to find an answer to this. I have multiple files that I use regularly in excel that now have cell formats of "date". Every single cell in the entire workbook (all sheets) is now formatted as "date". The problem is that I lost my formatting for percents, numbers years, etc and now everything is converted to date (xx/xx/xxxx). I am able to open previously saved versions of a file (prior to me having the problem) and the cells are formatted as I intend them to be (percents, numbers, general, as well as dates). Since this has happened on a couple different files recently, I am wondering how this is happening and how do I prevent it from happening in the future. I cannot cure the problem just by highlighting the entire sheet and converting back to general because I lose all my percents and number formatting.     I'm running a dual boot system with Windows XP and Fedora 13. I would like to uninstall Fedora 13 and remain with Windows XP only. This fedora document says I need to boot from a Windows XP installation CS to fix the MBR. Is there a way to do that without using the CD (I'm working in a company where I got my computer up and running with XP. Getting the CD will require me contact the system admins which might take some time).

  • 2 identical PCs - can I swap a single hard drive between and expect Windows 7/XP to work?

    I currently work in 2 different locations, traveling between the 2 every few weeks or so. I currently have screens, kb, mouse etc... in both locations, so I just pick up my tower case when I want to move to the other location. However to make moving easier I was thinking of buying 2 tower cases with hot swappable drive bays on the front and installing identical hardware in each one. This would allow me to pull the drives out and just take them with me and plug them into the PC at the other location. Would windows 7 complain? I'm not fussed about buying licenses for both PCs, but would I have any problems with drivers due to the different serial numbers of the components?

  • How do I completely uninstall mySQL on XP, including the root password?

    All I need is to be able to log in using root, but have forgotten the password. None of the steps to reset i found online work (i don't even have some of the executables mentioned such as mysql-nt.exe) However I have no problem deleting all databases (i have scripts) and intallations and starting completely from scratch... but uninstalling and deleting directories doesn't work.     we are using free-ipaserver(192.168.0.200) on fedora, clients are windows xp. we are successfully added two xp clients(m01(192.168.0.60, m02(192.168.0.61) on test environment. and also our server name is ipaserver & domain name is xyz.com , samba has been configured working fine. problem is whenever we access from one xp machine another xp machine we are getting this error, There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request, please give the solutions.

  • Visual Studio 2008 maintenance mode - I can't remember my installation source drive letter!!!

    I've searched high and low for this and can't find the answer anywhere. I installed VS2008, but my drive letters are all mapped differently now, and of course I need to add a component to my current installation (VC++). But since I don't know which drive letter it was installed from, and since I don't want to try to figure it out the brute force way, I was hoping that someone here knew how to figure that out. I poked through HKCU and HKLM in the registry, hoping to find the info there, but couldn't. Does anyone know how to get this to work? Right now, I get the error "A selected drive is no longer valid. Please review your installation path settings before continuing with setup".

    Hi Guys, My code appears to crash. I'm trying to setup a SensorManager for getting the Orientation of the device. I also have a listener that should update when conditions change.     I need a System.Windows.Forms.FlowLayoutPanel that only auto scrolls vertically. WrapContents is false, and I want it to work like a vertical stack panel. I can't find a way to disable the horizontal scroll. I've googled it, can't find a usable solution so far. The alternative is to abandon the FlowLayoutPanel, and try another control. What acts somewhat like a WPF stack panel but that expands and shrinks vertically with the contained controls?

    I have a UserControl that is part of a Class library. I reference this project from my solution. This adds a control from the referenced project to my toolbox. I add tghe control to a form. Everything looks good, I compile all and run. Perfect... But when I close the .frm with the control on it and re-open it, I get this error. The code continues to run. It may have something to do with namespaces. The original namespace was simply "Design" and this was ambiguous and conflicting so i decided to rename it. I think that's when my problems began.   • Can a View Controller manage more than 1 nib based view?

    I have a VC controlling a screen of content that has 2 modes; a normal mode and an edit mode. Can I create a single VC with 2 views, each from separate nibs? In many situations on the iphone, you have a VC which controls an associated view. Then on a button press or other event, a new VC is loaded and its view becomes the top level view etc. But in this situation, I have 2 modes that I want to use the same VC for, because they are closely related. So I want a VC which can swap in/out 2 views. As per here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/863321/iphone-how-to-load-a-view-using-a-nib-file-created-with-interface-builder/2683153#2683153 I have found that I can load a VC with an associated view from a nib and then later on load a different view from another nib and make that new view the active view. NSArray *nibObjects = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"EditMode" owner:self options:nil]; UIView *theEditView = [nibObjects objectAtIndex:0]; self.editView = theEditView; [self.view addSubview:theEditView]; The secondary nib has outlets wired up to the VC like the primary nib. When the new nib is loaded, the outlets are all connected up fine and everything works nicely. Unfortunately when this edit view is then removed, there doesn't seem to be any elegant way of getting the outlets hooked up again to the (normal mode) view from the original nib. Nib loading and outlet setting seems a once only thing. So, if you want to have a VC that swaps in/out 2 views without creating a new VC, what are the options? 1) You can do everything in code, but I want to use nibs because it makes creating the UI simpler. 2) You have 1 nib for your VC and just hide/show elements using the hidden property of UIView and its subclasses. 3) You load a new nib as described above. This is fine for the new nib, but how do you sort the outlets when you go back to the original nib. 4) Give up and accept having a 1:1 between VCs and nibs. There is a nib for normal mode, a nib for edit mode and each mode has a VC that subclasses a common superclass. In the end, I went with 4) and it works, but requires a fair amount of extra work, because I have a model class that I instantiate in normal mode and then have to pass to the edit mode VC because both modes need access to the model. I'm also using NSTimer and have to start and stop the timer in each mode. It is because of all this shared functionality that I wanted a single VC with 2 nibs in the first place.
