  I am trying to do the following: I have row 1. I have values A1, B1, and C1. A1 contains a few names separated by a comma. I want to split A1 by these names while copying over the values from B1 and C1 into the split columns of A1. For example, I have this: (A1 B1 C1) bob,sam,bill 99 10 I want to have this: bob 99 10 sam 99 10 bill 99 10 I am also doing this on Google Sheets, I tried using combinations of Split, Join, and Transpose but can't seem to figure it out. Home is always unique to the person. But my DBMS doesn't know that. Is there an easy way around this problem? Appreciate it.

• How to combine apache requests?

  To give you the situation in abstract: I have an ajax client that often needs to retrieve 3-10 static documents from the server. Those 3-10 documents are selected by the client out of about 100 documents in total. I have no way of knowing in advance which 3-10 documents the client will require. Additionally, those 100 documents are generated from database content, and so change over time. It seems messy to me to have to make 10 ajax requests for 10 separate documents. My first thought was to write a jsp that could use the include action. ie in pseudo code for (param in params){ jsp:include page="[param]" } But it turns out the tomcat doesn't just include the html resource, it recompiles it, generating a class file every time, which also seems wasteful. Does any one know of a neat solution for combining apache requests to static files to make one request, rather than several, but without the overhead of, for example, tomcat generating extra class files for each static file and regenerating them each time the static file changes? Thanks! Hopefully my question is clear - it's a bit long-winded.

I need a program in Python or in C that will give me all possible combinations of a and b that will meet the requirement n=2*a+b, for n from 0 to 10. a, b and n are integers. For example if n=0 both a and b must be 0. For n=1 a must be zero and b must be 1, for n=2 a can be 1 and b=0, or a=0 and b=2, etc. I'm not that good with programming.   List1 contains a high number (~7^10) of N-dimensional points (N <=10), List2 contains the same or fewer number of N-dimensional points (N <=10). My task is this: I want to check which point in List2 is closest (euclidean distance) to a point in List1 for every point in List1 and subsequently perform some operation on it. I have been doing it the simple- the nested loop way when I didn't have more than 50 points in List1, but with 7^10 points, this obviously takes up a lot of time. What is the fastest way to do this? Any concepts from Computational Geometry might help?

  Hi all, I have a sorted ArrayList of values. I would like to get the distribution of the values. For example: Say I have 500 values, ranging from 1-100. I want to break them up into groups, say 10 groups: values 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, etc... I want the counts of each of the 500 values that fall into each category. For example, 5 of the 500 are valued at 1-10, 20 between 11-20, etc... However, I do not know the ranges of values in my ArrayList, it could be ranging from 1-30 or 1-200, but I want to break it up into, for example, 10 groups. Does anyone know how to do this?

Given the arrays: int canvas[10][10]; int addon[10][10]; Where all the values range from 0 - 100, what is the fastest way in C++ to add those two arrays so each cell in canvas equals itself plus the corresponding cell value in addon. IE, I want to achieve something like: canvas += another; So if canvas[0][0] =3 and addon[0][0] = 2 then canvas[0][0] = 5 Speed is essential here as I am writing a very simple program to brute force a knapsack type problem and there will be tens of millions of combinations.

• How to effectively execute this cron job?

  I have a table with 200 rows. I'm running a cron job every 10 minutes to perform some kind of insert/update operation on the table. The operation needs to be performed only on 5 rows at a time every time the cron job runs. So in first 10 mins records 1-5 are updated, records 5-10 in the 20th minute and so on. When the cron job runs for the 20th time, all the records in the table would have been updated exactly once. This is what is to be achieved at least. And the next cron job should repeat the process again. The problem: is that, every time a cron job runs, the insert/update operation should be performed on N rows (not just 5 rows). So, if N is 100, all records would've been updated by just 2 cron jobs. And the next cron job would repeat the process again. Here's an example: This is the table I currently have (200 records). I have some idea on how this could be achieved, but I'm sure there are more efficient ways of doing it. Any suggestions?

• Undefined method for a belongs_to association

  My code: class User < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :university end class University < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :users, dependent: :destroy end and my model User has a university_id attribute.
