• Visual Studio Windows Forms Designer keyboard shortcuts

  Extremely basic question. Are there common actions I can perform using keyboard shortcuts in the Windows Forms designer in Visual Studio (2008)? Alternately, could I add my own keyboard shortcuts (either through settings or macros)? It'd really be nice if I could, for example, set a control to dock/undock in its parent container by typing Alt+D. Or if I could set a control's name just by typing Alt+N and typing the name. Things like that. It's just kind of tedious to click on the item, scroll in the Properties grid to the property I want to change, type the new value, scroll to the next property I want to change, etc. Which is why I have a feeling this functionality is in there already, or is easily configurable, and I just don't know about it.

It works great, but it's wrong because I'm executing queries in a view. How can I render the list into a tree object and cache it for quick display every time I need a list of all hierarchical categories?

• How do I read 64-bit Registry values from VBScript running as a an msi post-installation task?

  I need to read the location of the Temporary ASP.NET Files folder from VBScript as part of a post-installation task in an installer created using a Visual Studio 2008 deployment project. I thought I would do something like this: Set oShell = CreateObject("Wscript.Shell") strPath = oShell.RegRead("HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ASP.NET\2.0.50727.0\Path") and then concatenate strPath with "\Temporary ASP.NET Files" and be done with it. On an x64 system, however, I am getting the value from the WOW6432Node (HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\ASP.NET\2.0.50727.0), which gives me the 32-bit framework path (C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727), but on an x64 system, I actually want the 64-bit path, i.e. C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727. I understand that this happens because the .vbs file is run using the 32-bit script host due to the parent process (the installer) being 32-bit itself. How can I run the script using the 64-bit script host - or - how can I read the 64-bit values even if the script is run using the 32-bit script host?

  I would like to be able to pass an XML file to an ANT build script and have it create a folder structure mimicking the nodal structure of the XML, using the build files parent directory as the root. For Example using: <root> <folder1> <folder1-1/> </folder1> <folder2/> <folder3> <folder3-1/> </folder3> </root> ant would create: folder1 -folder1-1 folder2 folder3 -folder3-1 I know how to create a directory, but i'm not sure how to have ANT parse the XML.

• Intercept UITableView scroll touches

  Is it possible to control when the UITableView scrolls in my own code. I am trying to get behaviour where a vertical swipe scrolls and a horizontal swipe gets passed through to my code (of which there are many example) BUT I want a DIAGONAL swipe to do nothing, i.e the UITableView should not even begin scrolling. I tried catching it in here - (void)scrollViewWillBeginDragging:(UIScrollView *)scrollView but the scrollView.contentOffset.x is always 0 so I cannot detect a horizontal movement. I also tried subclassing UITableView and implementing - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event - (UIView *)hitTest:(CGPoint)point withEvent:(UIEvent *)event etc.. but the UITableView (and I guess it's parent UIScrollView) start to scroll before the touches are notified? To re-iterate, I want the UITableView scrolling to be locked if a diagonal swipe is made, but to scroll vertically normally. (This behaviour can be seen in Tweetie(Twitter) for the iPhone) Thanks for any help!

• Errorprovider shows error on using windows close button(X)

  Hi guys, Is there any way to turn the damned error provider off when i try to close the form using the windows close button(X). • SWT Layout for absolute positioning with minimal-spanning composites

  Hi, I'm writing a DND-editor where I can position elemtents (like buttons, images ...) freely via absolute positioning. Every element has a parent composite. These composites should span/grasp/embrace every element they contain. There can be two or more elements in the same composite and a composite can contain another composite. This is because it tries to change the absolute positioning into a relative one. Lets say I position a image at position (100,100) and one at (200,200). Then it has to calculate the location of the composite to be at (100,100) and spanning the one at (200,200). But as all child positions are relative to their parents I have to change the positions of the children to remove the 100px offset of the parent. When the layout gets updated it moves everything to the top-left corner (as seen in the image) because the position of the image is not (100,100) but (0,0) since I tried to remove the 100px offset of the partent. Where is my error in reasoning? Is this maybe a totally wrong approach? Is there maybe an other way to achive the desired behavior? Thanks in advance! Best regards, Ed

• IE6 Hacks: Getting jQuery tools expose to work properly on my site

  Hi, I am trying to get the jQuery tools 'expose' function to work properly in IE6. The page is http://204.51.246.10:12123/ You will need IE6 to reproduce the bug (obviously :)). If you click 'Sign In' on the top-right corner (below the 'Join Today!' button), you will notice that the sign in panel (fieldset#login-controls) is getting covered by the background of its parent element (.signinPanel), which is very weird. It is not on the top of z-index, and I can't figure out why. Please note that in order to get fieldset#login-controls positioned correctly, I have applied the following hack for IE6: $("#header, #header div, #header table, #header td, #header tr").css("position", "static"); $("fieldset#login-controls *").css("position", "static"); This might be the reason for the above. I'm working with a local Maven proxy (Nexus) and need the tool to specify which of the parent repositories should Nexus proxy be accessing. • How can I make a jQuery UI 'draggable()' div draggable for touchscreen?

  I have a jQuery UI draggable() that works in Firefox and Chrome. The user interface concept is basically click to create a "post-it" type item. Basically, I click or tap on div#everything (100% high and wide) that listens for clicks, and an input textarea displays. You add text, and then when you're done it saves it. You can drag this element around. That is working on normal browsers, but on an iPad I can test with I can't drag the items around. If I touch to select (it then dims slightly), I can't then drag it. It won't drag left or right at all. I can drag up or down, but I'm not dragging the individual div, I'm dragging the whole webpage. • Problem with animating the deletion of table rows in jQuery

  Hey guys, I have written some jQuery code to use the "slideUp" animation when deleting rows from a table. In order for the animation to appear smooth, I wrapped the contents of each TD in the row with DIV tags, and called the slideUp function on the DIVs, removing the actual TDs upon completion of the animation. The code for that is as follows: $("tr[id$=" + rowID + "]").children("td").each(function() { $(this).children("div").slideUp(function() { $(this).parent().remove(); }); }); So far, so good. However, I noticed that this code does not remove the actual TR, only its contents, so I added the following line to remove the TR: $("tr[id$=" + rowID + "]").remove(); The problem is that after I added the line above, the animation quit working. In other words, the row simply disappears without the nice sliding effect. Does anybody know why this is so and how to get around it? Thanks in advance for your insights! Victor

• Recursive CTE Problem

  Hi, I am trying to use a recursive CTE in SQL Server to build up a predicate formula from a table containing the underlying tree structure. For example, my table looks like: -------------------------- Id Operator/Val ParentId -------------------------- 1. 'OR' NULL 2. 'AND' 1 3. 'AND' 1 4. '' 2 5. 'a' 4 6. 'alpha' 4 : : : -------------------------- which represents ((a alpha) AND (b beta)) OR ((c gamma) AND (a < delta)). ParentId is a reference to the Id in the same table of the parent node. I want to write a query which will build up this string from the table. Is it possible? Thanks

• How to get default Ctrl+Tab functionality in WinForms MDI app when hosting WPF UserControls

  I have a WinForms based app with traditional MDI implementation within it except that I'm hosting WPF based UserControls via the ElementHost control as the main content for each of my MDI children. This is the solution recommended by Microsoft for achieving MDI with WPF although there are various side effects unfortunately. One of which is that my Ctrl+Tab functionality for tab switching between each MDI child is gone because the tab key seems to be swallowed up by the WPF controls. Is there a simple solution to this that will let the Ctrl+tab key sequences reach my WinForms MDI parent so that I can get the built-in tab switching functionality?

• jquery ui dialog fixed positioning

  Hi, I needed the dialog to maintain its position fixed even if the page scrolled, so i used the extension at http://forum.jquery.com/topic/dialog-position-fixed-12-1-2010 but there's 2 problems with it: it flickers in IE and Firefox on page scroll (in Safari/Chrome it's fine) on closing and then reopening, it looses its stickyness and scrolls along with the page. Here's the code i'm using for creating the dialog: $('<div id="'+divpm_id+'"><div id="inner_'+divpm_id+'"></div><textarea class="msgTxt" id="txt'+divpm_id+'" rows="2"></textarea></div>') .dialog({ autoOpen: true, title: user_str, height: 200, stack: true, sticky: true //uses ui dialog extension to keep it fixed }); And here's the code i'm using for reopening it: jQuery('#'+divpm_id).parent().css('display','block'); Suggestions/solutions? • how to handle duplicates in AVL tree

  I want to make my avl tree support adding duplicates but there is a problem with the default behavior of the binary search tree with duplicates that the rotation could make nodes with equal key be on the left and the right of the parent for example adding A,A,A will cause the tree to do a rotation to be something like that A / \ A A so getting all the entries with that key will be a problem...and searching in both direction is not something good the solution that i have thought of is making each node stores an array of duplicates so when adding a new item that already exists will be just adding a new item to the array , removing item with key will delete the whole node while the find all items with key will return that array. are there are any other methods to handle duplicates ?

  What is the best way to get an event from a child or grandchild module up to the parent Shell? For instance, if I have a view in a module that is actually 2 levels away from the Shell, and I have a Window behavior. Is the eventaggregator really the best way to do this? it seems like overkill. I just want my MainShell to watch for a change in the IsDialogOpen Property on the ViewModels in all my child modules. I feel like I am missing the trees for the forest...

• Android animation clipping when going between layouts

  I have a fairly complex layout. I use a relative layout as the root and then inside of it I have a few table views and some further nesting. When I animate an imageview between these layouts my image clips. I have a background on the parent layout and the animation looks like it's going under it. I have set android:clipChildren="false" and android:clipToPadding="false" on all of the layouts. I've also set anim.setZAdjustment(Animation.ZORDER_TOP); on all of my animations. What am I doing wrong?

• How to create a folder for each item in a directory?

  I'm having trouble making folders that I create go where I want them to go. For each file in a given folder, I want to create a new folder, then put that file in the new folder. My problem is that the new folders I create are being put in the parent directory, not the one I want. My example: def createFolder(): dir_name = 'C:\\Users\\Adrian\\Entertainment\\Coding\\Test Folder' files = os.listdir(dir_name) for i in files: os.mkdir(i) Let's say that my files in that directory are Hello.txt and Goodbye.txt. When I run the script, it makes new folders for these files, but puts them one level above, in 'C:\Users\Adrian\Entertainment\Coding. How do I make it so they are created in the same place as the files, AKA 'C:\Users\Adrian\Entertainment\Coding\Test Folder'?
