    A little context There is a wpf based application which i left opened for 2-3 days without performing any activity throws out of memory exception , this is very Weird situation and does not happen all of the time. During this ideal activity , my application does nt perform any activity but just a file system watcher contineously watching a shared location , so i thought that would be a problem but i am not sure. Any suggestion is always welcomed.

  • Asp.net Mvc - Kigg: Maintain User object in HttpContext.Items between requests.

    Hallo, first I want to say that I hope this doesn't look like I am lazy but I have some trouble understanding a piece of code from the following project. http://kigg.codeplex.com/ I was going through the source code and I noticed something that would be usefull for my own little project I am making. In their BaseController they have the following code: private static readonly Type CurrentUserKey = typeof(IUser); public IUser CurrentUser { get { if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(CurrentUserName)) { IUser user = HttpContext.Items[CurrentUserKey] as IUser; if (user == null) { user = AccountRepository.FindByClaim(CurrentUserName); if (user != null) { HttpContext.Items[CurrentUserKey] = user; } } return user; } return null; } } This isn't an exact copy of the code I adjusted it a little to my needs. This part of the code I still understand. They store their IUser in HttpContext.Items. I guess they do it so that they don't have to call the database eachtime they need the User object. The part that I don't understand is how they maintain this object in between requests. If I understand correctly the HttpContext.Items is a per request cache storage. So after some more digging I found the following code. internal static IDictionary<UnityPerWebRequestLifetimeManager, object> GetInstances(HttpContextBase httpContext) { IDictionary<UnityPerWebRequestLifetimeManager, object> instances; if (httpContext.Items.Contains(Key)) { instances = (IDictionary<UnityPerWebRequestLifetimeManager, object>) httpContext.Items[Key]; } else { lock (httpContext.Items) { if (httpContext.Items.Contains(Key)) { instances = (IDictionary<UnityPerWebRequestLifetimeManager, object>) httpContext.Items[Key]; } else { instances = new Dictionary<UnityPerWebRequestLifetimeManager, object>(); httpContext.Items.Add(Key, instances); } } } return instances; } This is the part where some magic happens that I don't understand. I think they use Unity to do some dependency injection on each request? In my project I am using Ninject and I am wondering how I can get the same result. I guess InRequestScope in Ninject is the same as UnityPerWebRequestLifetimeManager? I am also wondering which class/method they are binding to which interface? Since the HttpContext.Items get destroyed each request how do they prevent losing their user object? Anyway it's kinda a long question so I am gradefull for any push in the right direction.     I'd like to script p4 a little. Unfortunately, some of the filenames that we're tracking have "@" in the filename. The filenames are in the form [email protected]. If I try to do something like p4 sync a\@b.xml on a mac (or p4 sync [email protected] on windows) it gives the error: Invalid changelist/client/label/date '@b.xml' Is there another way to escape it that perforce will recognize?

    Hello, what is PHP's safest encrypt/decrypt method, in use with MySQL - to store let's say passwords? Of course, not for portal purposes. I want to do little password (domain/mysql/ftp...) storage for whole team online, but I don't want really to endanger our clients' bussinesses. Hash can't be used for obvious reasons (Doesn't really make sense to run rainbow tables every time :D). Any idea?

  • C#. How to terminate a thread which has spawned another thread which is sleeping?

    I have a long running thread made from Thread.Start(). It spawns a background thread using QueueUserWorkItem which sleeps most of the time. Then the class-owner get disposed I call thread1.Join() but naturally it doesnt return because its child background thread is sleeping. What would be the right solution to gracefully terminate a thread which has other threads with little hassle? Thanks

He told me to use this method as a constructor. Which I did: CCard::CCard() { m_Sperre = false; m_Guthaben = rand() % 1000; /* Work */ /* Convert them */ ssPIN >> m_Geheimzahl; ssBN >> m_Nummer; } All variables with m_ are member variables. However, the constructor works when I initialize the card normally CCard card(); at the start of the program. However, I also have a function, that is supposed to create a new card and return it to the user, this function is now broken. The original command: card = newCard(); isn't available anymore, and card = new CCard(); doesn't work. What other options do I have? I have a feeling using the constructor won't work, and that I probably should just create a class method newCard, but I want to see if it is somehow at all possible to do it the way the teacher wanted. This is creating a lot of headaches for me. I told the teacher that this is a stupid idea and not everything has to be classed in OOP. He has since told me that Java or C# don't allow code outside of classes, which sounds a little incredible. Not sure that you can do this in C++, especially when templated functions exist, or generic algorithms. Is it true that this would be bad code for OOP in C++ if I didn't force it into a class?

  • MainMenu with Images

    I have a MainMenu in my app and I would like to have little icons relevant to the Item in each menu. But the MainMenu control does not support this. I would use the MenuStrip control, though that is a pretty ugly option in my opinion. Does anybody have any suggestions? Are there any free/open source alt's out there, or would it be easy/possible to implement that feature into the existing MainMenu control?

  • Load large images into Bitmap?

    I'm trying to make a basic application that displays an image from the camera, but I when I try to load the .jpg in from the sdcard with BitmapFactory.decodeFile, it returns null. It doesn't give an out of memory error which I find strange, but the exact same code works fine on smaller images. How does the generic gallery display huge pictures from the camera with so little memory?

  • Whats better query with long where in condition or many small queries?

    Maybe it's a little dumb, but i'm just not sure what is better. If i have to check about 30k rows in db for existanse, what i'd do? #1 - one query select id from table1 where name in (smth1,smth2...{till 30k}) #2 - many queries select id from table1 where name=smth1 Though, perfomance is not the goal, i don't want to go down with mysql either ;) Maybe, any other solutions will be more suitable...   • Trying to connect to a remte server using Eclipse

    I have a little problem, I have an Ubuntu server running Tomcat, what I want to do is connect my Eclipse EE to it so I can work with JSP. I have no problem connecting to a similar Tomcat service when its installed on my machine (not a server), but whenever I try to the remote server I don't seem to have the option of choosing a Tomcat service...
