  I have a command e.g. ls-l file.txt When there is insufficient space on my drive, the above command just stalls waiting for something to happen. Does anyone know about a code that I could write enabling me to display a message about the lack of space on my drive? E.g. could I use IPC or do you have any other ideas? Thanks in advance.

• Why does Eclipse crash with Xmx, XX:MaxPermSize above certain values?

  Running Eclipse 3.5.1, JDK 1.6.0_17 on WinXP SP3 32Bit with 3.5 gigs of RAM. I'm aware of the known Eclipse best practices, still trying to figure out eclipse.ini. This will launch: -Xmx588m and this won't: -Xmx589m. Same with -XX:MaxPermSize. Anything above -XX:MaxPermSize=140m won't launch. The screen of death is simlar to this (taken from here). Any ideas on why might this be happening?

• Problem with Devise authentication on Rails

  Hi all, I tried to use Devise 1.0.6 over Rails 2.3. I followed the installation instructions and the user can successfully sign up. However, when I use the registered user account to sign in, the password field is cleared up and nothing happened. Could anyone give me some ideas? Thanks in advance.

Having recently added some of files into a single folder I wondered how to force tracker to re-index this folder so I would be able to perform search-queries on these files. Any ideas? • Is it possible to edit a sound file based on frequency???

  Just wondering if it's possible to go through a flac, mp3, wav, etc file and edit portions, or the entire file by removing sections based on a specific frequency range? So for example, I have a recording of a friend reciting a poem with a few percussion instruments in the background. Could I write a C program that goes through the entire file and cuts out everything except the vocals (human voice frequency ranges from 85-255 Hz, from what I've been reading)?   I have russian version of VS2008 (don't aske me why..) + R# 4.5. After installing R# these problems appear: Can't select text with "Ctrl+Shift+arrow" (no idea how to fix it) Can't use Resharper shortcut scheme. I have trying to apply R# scheme, rebooting VS - no luck. Seems like Russian VS have something different inside it, not only russian textboxes... Any ideas?

• Sqlite3 and PDO problem with ORDER BY

  Hi, I try to use the SQL statement SELECT * FROM table ORDER BY column via an PDO-Object in PHP. Problem is, that I always get an error (Call to a member function fetchall() on a non-object - that means, the query did not return a PDO-object) when using the names of all columnname EXCEPT for ID. When I query SELECT * FROM table ORDER BY ID it works. ID is the PRIMARY INTEGER KEY, all other columns are TEXT or NUMERIC, neither of them would works with the ORDER BY clause. Any ideas?

  I'm using the newest chart control from silverlight toolkit to plot some data. For small cases it works ok, but for bigger samples the X axis labels overlap. It would be no problem if the chart would simply omit some of the values or I could specify to just show every 10th of them ... I couldn't find any properties providing this behavior. Any ideas?

  I just deployed my app to my iPhone for the first time. Every time it launches it vibrates before running, and it runs fine. The build is a Debug | iPhone one of my app. Any ideas why it vibrates when it launches and how to stop that? It's definitely not something I coded up and I don't have any exceptions or issues when running in the simulator.

  I think "text" must be a special form because when I use xml.text "hello" the tag doesn't appear in the xml doc. Whatever follows that tag is simply listed without a . I tried to use send.(:"text", "hello") but that doesn't work either. Ideas?

  Hi all, I'm using rmagick to manipulate image files. I use the ImageList.new on each file to get started. When I apply this method to an invalid image file I get the below error which interrupts the execution of the script: RMagick.rb:1635:in `read': Improper image header (Magick::ImageMagickError) Therefore I would like to be able to check whether a file is a valid image file before using this method.   I am trying to find the most used Network card on windows 200 or XP. I planned to obtain the number of packets sent trough each NIC to determine the main NIC.
