  • MVC + Is validation attributes enough?

    - by ebb
    My ViewModel has validation attributes that ensure that it wont be empty etc. - Is that enough or should I let my the code contracts I have made be in the ActionResult too? Example: // CreateCaseViewModel.cs public class CreateCaseViewModel { [Required] public string Topic { get; set; } [Required] public string Message { get; set; } } // CaseController.cs [AuthWhere(AuthorizeRole.Developer)] [HttpPost] public ActionResult Create(CreateCaseViewModel model) { if(!ModelState.IsValid) { // TODO: some cool stuff? } if (string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(model.Message)) { throw new ArgumentException("Message cannot be null or empty", model.Message); } if (string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(model.Topic)) { throw new ArgumentException("Topic cannot be null or empty", model.Topic); } var success = false; string message; var userId = new Guid(_membershipService.GetUserByUserName(User.Identity.Name).ProviderUserKey.ToString()); if(userId == Guid.Empty) { throw new ArgumentException("UserId cannot be empty"); } Case createCase = _caseService.CreateCase(model.Topic, model.Message); if(createCase == null) { throw new ArgumentException("Case cannot be null"); } if(_caseService.AddCase(createCase, userId)) { message = ControllerResources.CaseCreateFail; } else { success = true; message = ControllerResources.CaseCreateSuccess; } return Json(new { Success = success, Message = message, Partial = RenderPartialViewToString(ListView, GetCases) }); }

  • C# Interface Method calls from a controller

    - by ArjaaAine
    I was just working on some application architecture and this may sound like a stupid question but please explain to me how the following works: Interface: public interface IMatterDAL { IEnumerable<Matter> GetMattersByCode(string input); IEnumerable<Matter> GetMattersBySearch(string input); } Class: public class MatterDAL : IMatterDAL { private readonly Database _db; public MatterDAL(Database db) { _db = db; LoadAll(); //Private Method } public virtual IEnumerable<Matter> GetMattersBySearch(string input) { //CODE return result; } public virtual IEnumerable<Matter> GetMattersByCode(string input) { //CODE return results; } Controller: public class MatterController : ApiController { private readonly IMatterDAL _publishedData; public MatterController(IMatterDAL publishedData) { _publishedData = publishedData; } [ValidateInput(false)] public JsonResult SearchByCode(string id) { var searchText = id; //better name for this var results = _publishedData.GetMattersBySearch(searchText).Select( matter => new { MatterCode = matter.Code, MatterName = matter.Name, matter.ClientCode, matter.ClientName }); return Json(results); } This works, when I call my controller method from jquery and step into it, the call to the _publishedData method, goes into the class MatterDAL. I want to know how does my controller know to go to the MatterDAL implementation of the Interface IMatterDAL. What if I have another class called MatterDAL2 which is based on the interface. How will my controller know then to call the right method? I am sorry if this is a stupid question, this is baffling me.

  • Refreshing a MKMapView when the user location is updated or using default values

    - by koichirose
    I'm trying to refresh my map view and load new data from the server when the device acquires the user location. Here's what I'm doing: - (void)viewDidLoad { CGRect bounds = self.view.bounds; mapView = [[MKMapView alloc] initWithFrame:bounds]; mapView.showsUserLocation=YES; mapView.delegate=self; [self.view insertSubview:mapView atIndex:0]; [self refreshMap]; } - (void)mapView:(MKMapView *)theMapView didUpdateUserLocation:(MKUserLocation *)userLocation { //this is to avoid frequent updates, I just need one position and don't need to continuously track the user's location if (userLocation.location.horizontalAccuracy > self.myUserLocation.location.horizontalAccuracy) { self.myUserLocation = userLocation; CLLocationCoordinate2D centerCoord = { userLocation.location.coordinate.latitude, userLocation.location.coordinate.longitude }; [theMapView setCenterCoordinate:centerCoord zoomLevel:10 animated:YES]; [self refreshMap]; } } - (void)refreshMap { [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setNetworkActivityIndicatorVisible:YES]; [self.mapView removeAnnotations:self.mapView.annotations]; //default position NSString *lat = @"45.464161"; NSString *lon = @"9.190336"; if (self.myUserLocation != nil) { lat = [[NSNumber numberWithDouble:myUserLocation.coordinate.latitude] stringValue]; lon = [[NSNumber numberWithDouble:myUserLocation.coordinate.longitude] stringValue]; } NSString *url = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat:@"http://myserver/geo_search.json?lat=%@&lon=%@", lat, lon]; NSURLRequest *theRequest=[NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:url] cachePolicy:NSURLRequestUseProtocolCachePolicy timeoutInterval:60.0]; [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:theRequest delegate:self]; [url release]; [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setNetworkActivityIndicatorVisible:NO]; } I also have a - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveData:(NSData *)data, to create and add the annotations. Here's what happens: sometimes I get the location after a while, so I already loaded data close to the default location. Then I get the location and it should remove the old annotations and add the new ones, instead I keep seeing the old annotations and the new ones are added anyway (let's say I receive 10 annotations each time, so it means that I have 20 on my map when I should have 10). What am I doing wrong?

  • Using Lucene to index private data, should I have a separate index for each user or a single index

    - by Nathan Bayles
    I am developing an Azure based website and I want to provide search capabilities using Lucene. (structured json objects would be indexed and stored in Lucene and other content such as Word documents, etc. would be indexed in lucene but stored in blob storage) I want the search to be secure, such that one user would never see a document belonging to another user. I want to allow ad-hoc searches as typed by the user. Lastly, I want to query programmatically to return predefined sets of data, such as "all notes for user X". I think I understand how to add properties to each document to achieve these 3 objectives. (I am listing them here so if anyone is kind enough to answer, they will have better idea of what I am trying to do) My questions revolve around performance and security. Can I improve document security by having a separate index for each user, or is including the user's ID as a parameter in each search sufficient? Can I improve indexing speed and total throughput of the system by having a separate index for each user? My thinking is that having separate indexes would allow me to scale the system by having multiple index writers (perhaps even on different server instances) working at the same time, each on their own index. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Nate

  • Why is this ajax call being made even though it shouldn't be

    - by user2921557
    i have this validation script im working on but cant see why im having an issue. You can see that i have a check = false / true, check before it runs the ajax call. However, even if a field is empty and check is set to false, it is still running the call. so: // JavaScript - Update Password AJAX $(document).ready(function () { // When the form is submitted $('.updatepasswordform').submit(function () { var check = true; // Get the values var password1 = $("input[name=password1]").val(); var password2 = $("input[name=password2]").val(); var newpassword = $("input[name=newpassword]").val(); /* Password Validation */ // If fields are empty if (password1 === '') { check = false; $("input[name=password1]").css('border', 'solid 2px red'); } // If fields are empty if (password2 === '') { check = false; $("input[name=password2]").css('border', 'solid 2px red'); } // If fields are empty if (newpassword === '') { check = false; $("input[name=newpassword]").css('border', 'solid 2px red'); } if (check = true) { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "process/updatepassword.php", data: $(".updatepasswordform").serialize(), dataType: "json", success: function (response) { /* Checks for database validation, removed for space saving */ } }); } return false; }); });

  • OOP/MVC advice on where to place a global helper function

    - by franko75
    Hi, I have a couple of controllers on my site which are handling form data. The forms use AJAX and I have quite a few methods across different controllers which are having to do some specific processing to return errors in a JSON encoded format - see code below. Obviously this isn't DRY and I need to move this code into a single helper function which I can use globally, but I'm wondering where this should actually go! Should I create a static helper class which contains this function (e.g Validation::build_ajax_errors()), or as this code is producing a format which is application specific and tied into the jQuery validation plugin I'm using, should it be a static method stored in, for example, my main Website controller which the form handling controllers extend from? //if ajax request, output errors if (request::is_ajax()) { //need to build errors into array form for javascript validation - move this into a helper method accessible globally $errors = $post->errors('form_data/form_error_messages'); $i = 0; $new_errors = array(); foreach ($errors as $key => $value) { $new_errors[$i][0] = '#' . $key; $new_errors[$i][1] = $value; $new_errors[$i][2] = "error"; $i++; } echo '{"jsonValidateReturn":' . json_encode($new_errors) . '}'; return; }

  • How might a C# programmer approach writing a solution in javascript?

    - by Ben McCormack
    UPDATE: Perhaps this wasn't clear from my original post, but I'm mainly interested in knowing a best practice for how to structure javascript code while building a solution, not simply learning how to use APIs (though that is certainly important). I need to add functionality to a web site and our team has decided to approach the solution using a web service that receives a call from a JSON-formatted AJAX request from within the web site. The web service has been created and works great. Now I have been tasked with writing the javascript/html side of the solution. If I were solving this problem in C#, I would create separate classes for formatting the request, handling the AJAX request/response, parsing the response, and finally inserting the response somehow into the DOM. I would build properties and methods appropriately into each class, doing my best to separate functionality and structure where appropriate. However, I have to solve this problem in javascript. Firstly, how could I approach my solution in javascript in the way I would approach it from C# as described above? Or more importantly, what's a better way to approach structuring code in javascript? Any advice or links to helpful material on the web would be greatly appreciated. NOTE: Though perhaps not immediately relevant to this question, it may be worth noting that we will be using jQuery in our solution.

  • checking mongo database for data

    - by user1647484
    I'm playing around with this tutorial that uses Sinatra, backbone.js, and mongodb for the database. It's my first time using mongo. As far as I understand it the app uses both local storage and a database. it has these routes for the database. For example, it has these routes get '/api/:thing' do DB.collection(params[:thing]).find.to_a.map{|t| from_bson_id(t)}.to_json end get '/api/:thing/:id' do from_bson_id(DB.collection(params[:thing]).find_one(to_bson_id(params[:id]))).to_json end post '/api/:thing' do oid = DB.collection(params[:thing]).insert(JSON.parse(request.body.read.to_s)) "{\"_id\": \"#{oid.to_s}\"}" end After turning the server off and then on, I could see in the server getting data from the database routes 127.0.0.1 - - [17/Sep/2012 08:21:58] "GET /api/todos HTTP/1.1" 200 430 0.0033 My question is, how can I check from within the mongo shell whether the data's in the database? I started the mongo shell ./bin/mongo I selected the database 'use mydb' and then looking at the docs (http://www.mongodb.org/display/DOCS/Tutorial) I tried commands such as > var cursor = db.things.find(); > while (cursor.hasNext()) printjson(cursor.next()); but they didn't return anything.

  • integrating jquery with AJAX using MVC for ddl/html.dropdownlist

    - by needhelp
    the situation: a user on the page in question selects a category from a dropdown which then dynamically populates all the users of that category in a second dropdown beside it. all the data is being retrieved using LinqtoSQL and i was wondering if this can be done a) using html.dropdownlist in a strongly typed view? b) using jquery to trigger the ajax request on selected index change instead of a 'populate' button trigger? sorry i dont have code as what i was trying really wasnt working at all. I am having trouble with how to do it conceptually and programatically! will appreciate any links to examples etc greatly! thanks in advance! EDIT: this is kind of what i was trying to achieve.. first the ViewPage: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready function TypeSearch() { $.getJSON("/Home/Type", null, function(data) { //dont know what to do here }); } </script> <p> <label for="userType">userType:</label> <%= Html.DropDownList("userType") %> <%= Html.ValidationMessage("userType", "*") %> <input type="submit" runat="server" onclick="TypeSearch()" /> <label for="accountNumber">accountNumber:</label> <%= Html.DropDownList("accountNumber") %> <%= Html.ValidationMessage("accountNumber", "*") %> </p> Then home controller action: public ActionResult Type() { string accountType = dropdownvalue; List<Account> accounts = userRep.GetAccountsByType(accountType).ToList(); return Json(accounts); }

  • Bing search API and Azure

    - by Gapton
    I am trying to programatically perform a search on Microsoft Bing search engine. Here is my understanding: There was a Bing Search API 2.0 , which will be replaced soon (1st Aug 2012) The new API is known as Windows Azure Marketplace. You use different URL for the two. In the old API (Bing Search API 2.0), you specify a key (Application ID) in the URL, and such key will be used to authenticate the request. As long as you have the key as a parameter in the URL, you can obtain the results. In the new API (Windows Azure Marketplace), you do NOT include the key (Account Key) in the URL. Instead, you put in a query URL, then the server will ask for your credentials. When using a browser, there will be a pop-up asking for a/c name and password. Instruction was to leave the account name blank and insert your key in the password field. Okay, I have done all that and I can see a JSON-formatted results of my search on my browser page. How do I do this programmatically in PHP? I tried searching for the documentation and sample code from Microsoft MSDN library, but I was either searching in the wrong place, or there are extremely limited resources in there. Would anyone be able to tell me how do you do the "enter the key in the password field in the pop-up" part in PHP please? Thanks alot in advance.

  • Windows Phone - failing to get a string from a website with login information

    - by jumantyn
    I am new to accessing web services with Windows Phone 7/8. I'm using a WebClient to get a string from a php-website. The site returns a JSON string but at the moment I'm just trying to put it into a TextBox as a normal string just to test if the connection works. The php-page requires an authentication and I think that's where my code is failing. Here's my code: WebClient client = new WebClient(); client.Credentials = new NetworkCredential("myUsername", "myPassword"); client.DownloadStringCompleted += new DownloadStringCompletedEventHandler(client_DownloadStringCompleted); client.DownloadStringAsync(new Uri("https://www.mywebsite.com/ba/php/jsonstuff.php")); void client_DownloadStringCompleted(object sender, DownloadStringCompletedEventArgs e) { try { string data = e.Result; this.jsonText.Text = data; } catch (Exception ex) { System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine(ex.Message); } } This returns first a WebException and then a TargetInvocationException. If I replace the Uri with for example "http://www.google.com/index.html" the jsonText TextBox gets filled with html text from Google (oddly enough, this also works even when the WebClient credentials are still set). So is the problem in the setting of the credentials? I couldn't find any good results when searching for guides on how to access php-pages with credentials, only without them. Then I found a short mention somewhere to use the WebClient.Credentials property. But should it work some other way? Update: here's what I can get out of the WebException (sorry for the bad formatting): System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: NotFound. ---System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: NotFound. at System.Net.Browser.ClientHttpWebRequest.InternalEndGetResponse(IAsyncResult asyncResult) at System.Net.Browser.ClientHttpWebRequest.<c_DisplayClasse.b_d(Object sendState) at System.Net.Browser.AsyncHelper.<c_DisplayClass1.b_0(Object sendState) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at System.Net.Browser.AsyncHelper.BeginOnUI(SendOrPostCallback beginMethod, Object state) at System.Net.Browser.ClientHttpWebRequest.EndGetResponse(IAsyncResult asyncResult) at System.Net.WebClient.GetWebResponse(WebRequest request, IAsyncResult result) at System.Net.WebClient.DownloadBitsResponseCallback(IAsyncResult result)

  • Weird code appearing when I loop over model instances in Rails

    - by Tom Maxwell
    In my Rails app I'm trying to loop over the Submission instances inside my Folder instances with Rails templating code. It works. However, it's also returning each instance in code which doesn't seem to be JSON. It's what's returned when you look up an instance in the Rails console. Here's an example: #<Submission id: 112, title: nil, content: nil, created_at: "2013-10-10 23:29:39", updated_at: "2013-10-10 23:29:39", user_id: 1, folder_id: 1, parent_id: nil> Here's what the code looks like for the loop: <%= @folder.submissions.each do |x| %> <% if x.title != nil %> <div id="<%= x.id %>" class="submission-textual"> <h1><%= x.title %></h1> </div> <% else %> <% end %> <% end %> I checked my Folder and Submissions controllers but am not sure what this is. Why are these strings being rendered whenever I try and render an instance in my view? I'm still new to Ruby so that explains why I haven't seen this.

  • Rails: RESTful Find, Initialize, or Create

    - by Andrew
    I have an app that has Cities in it. I'm looking for some suggestions on how to RESTfully structure a controller so that I can lookup, initialize, and create city records via AJAX requests. For instance: Given a text field city_name A user enters the name of a City, like "Paris, France" The app checks this location to see if there is such a city in the database already If there is, it returns the city object If there is not, it returns a new record initialized with the name "Paris" and the country "France", and prompts the user to confirm they want to add this city to the database If the user says "Yes" the record is saved. If not the record is discarded and the form is cleared. Now, my first approach was to change the Create action to use find_or_create, so that an AJAX post to cities_path would result in either returning the existing city or creating it and returning it. That works ok... However, it would be better to setup controller actions that would take a string input, find , or else initialize and return, then only create if the user confirms the generated record is correct. The ideal scenario would put this all in one action so AJAX request can go to that url, the server responds with JSON objects, and javascript can handle things from there. I'd like to keep all the user-interaction logic client side, and also minimize the number of requests it takes to achieve this. Any suggestions on the cleanest, most RESTful way to accomplish this?

  • jQuery.data() works in Mac OS WebKit, but not on iPhone OS?

    - by rpj
    I'm playing around with jQTouch for an iPhone OS app that I've been toying with off and on for a while. I wanted to try my hand building it as a web app so I started playing with jQTouch. For reference, here is the page+source (all my code is currently in index.html so you can just "View Source" to see it all): http://rpj.me/doughapp.com/wd/ Essentially, I'm trying to save pertinent JSON objects retrieved from Google Local into DOM objects using the data() method (in this example, obj is the Google Local object): $('#locPane').data('selected', obj); then later (in a different "pane"), retrieving that object to be used: $('#locPane').bind('pageAnimationEnd', function(e, inf) { var selobj = $(this).data('selected'); // use 'selobj' here ... } In Chromium and Safari on the desktop OS (Snow Leopard in my case), this works perfectly (try it out). However, the same code returns undefined for the call to $(this).data('selected') in the second snippet above. I've also tried $('#' + e.target.id).data('selected') and even the naive $('#locPane').data('selected'). All variants return undefined in the iPhone OS version of WebKit, but not on the desktop. Interestingly, the running this on Mobile Safari in the iPhone Simulator fails as well. If you look at the full source, you'll see that I even try to save this object into my global jQTouch object (named jqt in my code). This, too, fails on the mobile platform. Has anyone else ever ran into this? I'll admit to not being a web/javascript programmer by trade, so if I'm making an idiot's error please call me out on it. Thank you in advance for the help! -RPJ Update: I didn't make it clear in the original post, but I'm open to any workaround if it works consistently. Since I'm having trouble storing these objects in general, anything that allows me to keep them around is good enough for now. Thanks!

  • Jquery autocomplete with Dynamic input box.?

    - by Kaps Hasija
    I have done so much R & D for Jquery Auto complete, I found some result but not as much i needed. I am giving you code which are currently i am using . <input type="text" value="|a" name="completeMe" id="Subject" />// This input box will created by Dynamic using forloop // My Jquery Code $(function () { $("#Subject").autocomplete({ source: '/Cataloging/Bib/GetSubject', minLength: 1, select: function (event, ui) { // Do something with "ui.item.Id" or "ui.item.Name" or any of the other properties you selected to return from the action } }); }); // My Action Method public ActionResult GetSubject(string term) { term = term.Substring(2, term.Length-2); return Json(db.BibContents.Where(city => city.Value.StartsWith(term)).Select(city => city.Value), JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet); } // My code is running with static input but while creating Dynamic I need to use live event but i don't know how can i use Live Event with this code. NOTE: I am using static value of input "|a" after rendering on action i am removing that first two char to make proper search from database. Thanks

  • How to manage large amounts of delegates and usercallbacks in C# async http library

    - by Tyler
    I'm coding a .NET library in C# for communicating with XBMC via its JSON RPC interface using HTTP. I coded and released a preliminary version but everything is done synchronously. I then recoded the library to be asynchronous for my own purposes as I was/am building an XBMC remote for WP7. I now want to release the new async library but want to make sure it's nice and tidy before I do. Due to the async nature a user initiates a request, supplies a callback method that matches my delegate and then handles the response once it's been received. The problem I have is that within the library I track a RequestState object for the lifetime of the request, it contains the http request/response as well as the user callback etc. as member variables, this would be fine if only one type of object was coming back but depending on what the user calls they may be returned a list of songs or a list of movies etc. My implementation at the moment uses a single delegate ResponseDataRecieved which has a single parameter which is a simple Object - As this has only be used by me I know which methods return what and when I handle the response I cast said object to the type I know it really is - List, List etc. A third party shouldn't have to do this though - The delegate signature should contain the correct type of object. So then I need a delegate for every type of response data that can be returned to the third party - The specific problem is, how do I handle this gracefully internally - Do I have a bunch of different RequestState objects that each have a different member variable for the different delegates? That doesn't "feel" right. I just don't know how to do this gracefully and cleanly.

  • Javascript Computed Values With Arrays

    - by user983969
    Jquery Each Json Values Issue This question is similar to above, but not the same before it gets marked duplicated. After realasing how to use computed values i came across another issue. In my javascript i have the following code: var incidentWizard = ['page1.html','page2.html','page3.html']; var magicWizard = ['page1.html','page2.html','page3.html']; var loadedURL = 'page1.html'; The input to this function would be (true,'incident') function(next,wizardname) { var WizSize = incidentWizard.length; wizardName = [wizardName] + 'Wizard'; var wizardPOS = jQuery.inArray(loadedURL,incidentWizard); And now i want to use the wizardname parameter to decide what array i am going to use... Loader(incidentWizard[wizardPOS],true); Ive also tried Loader([incidentWizard][wizardPOS],true); and Loader([incidentWizard][wizardPOS],true); Also the loader function just required the string value in the array at wizardPOS sorry for confusion But when trying this i always end up with the outcome... /incidentWizard I know this is something to do with using computed values but i've tried reading about them and cant seem to solve this issue. Basicly i want to use the computed value of wizardName to access an an array of that name. Please help supports, looking forward to seeing many ways to do this!

  • Passing Object From Controller to JavaScript JQuery

Then in javascript, I want to be able to say something like..Objec.Property, ie/ Student.Name, or Student.GPA. Any help is appreciated. I tried json but couldn't get that to work either. ActionResult: [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Get)] public Epic GetEpicPropertyDetails(int id) { var Epictemplist = epicRepository.Select().Where(x => x.Id.Equals(id)); return Epictemplist.SingleOrDefault(); } javascript: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $(".ListBoxClass").click(function (event) { var selectedid = $(this).find("option:selected").val(); event.preventDefault(); $.get("/Estimate/GetEpicPropertyDetails", { id: selectedid }, function (result) { $(".TimeClass").val(result); }); }); }); </script> result.Name is obviously wrong I just dont know how to call this the right way.

  • Fasted way to develop data entry screens for a .NET backend ?

    - by jay23
    I am a .NET / C# back end guy. I am working on a app that will have about 200 different data entry screens. For me exposing DTO as a collection for CRUD (IUpdatable and IQueryable) is the easy part, can do it in sleep :-). What I am trying to decide is what type of front end technology will allow me to develop these data entry screens fast. They don't have to be fancy but they are not just plain grid either and on average they have about 15 form fields and some client side data validation (no db look up) Options I am looking at are Use ExtJS on the front and REST / JSON on the back. ASP.NET RIA but I do not know SL (Well XAML) Plain ASP.NET / MVC One idea I had was the DTO will contain the meta data about the form (As Attributes) and the form can be dynamically generated, but i do not want to reinvent the wheel if their is an easy way. I have looked at RAD software but all of them look at the DB and generate screens. I rather want some thing that can look at my DTO and generate screens. Jay

  • Simple jQuery syntax help, don't know where I've gone wrong

    - by Jascination
    I'm having trouble with a jQuery code at the moment, I know WHERE the problem lies, but I don't know what the problem is exactly. Probably very basic, but I'm new to this. You can see a (non)working fiddle here: http://www.jsfiddle.net/CvZeQ/ Basically I want to set different .click function based on whatever is selected (I have 5 image maps, each with a different #mapname, and want each to pertain to a different variable (answer1, answer2, answer3...) so as to store the selected 'answer' for each map.) Here is the code I'm using for one of the maps: $(window).load(function(){ //Get cookies when page loaded var useranswers=$.cookie('survery'); useranswers= JSON.parse (useranswers); // do something with previous answers //#shape functions $('#shape area').hover( function(e){ $('#'+ this.alt).addClass('hover'); }, function(e){ $('#'+ this.alt).removeClass('hover'); } ).click( function(e){ $('img.selected-region').removeClass('selected-region'); }, function(e){ $('#'+ this.alt).addClass('selected-region'); }, function(e){ var answer1 = $(this).attr("class"); }); }); I know the problem lies somewhere with the .click function, but I'm not entirely sure what I've done wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • How can I output my MySQL data into following structures?

    - by sky
    Here is the question, how can I output MySQL data into format like : userAge, userMid are the column name, table name Users. <script type="text/javascript"> userAge = new Array('21','36','20'), userMid = new Array('liuple','anhu','jacksen'); </script> Which I'll be using later with following code : var html = ' <table class="map-overlay"> <tr> <td class="user">' + '<a class="username" href="/' + **userMid[index]** + '" target="_blank"><img alt="" src="' + getAvatar(signImgList[index], '72x72') + '"></a><br> <a class="username" href="/' + **userMid[index]** + '" target="_blank">' + userNameList[index] + '</a><br> <span class="info">' + **userSex[index]** + ' ' + **userAge[index]** + '?<br> ' + cityList[index] + '</span>' + '</td> <td class="content">' + picString + somethings[index] + '<br> <span class="time">' + timeList[index] + picTips + '</span></td> </tr> </table> '; PS: I Just been told that i coulnt use JSON to output that format, so i have no idea now .< Thanks!

  • Multi Player game using Nodejs and Socket IO

    - by Kishorevarma
    I am trying out multi player racing game using Node and Socket IO ,express . So I have tried simple example to see the latency between node server and the clients. I have a draggable image in client . when I move the image ienter code heren one client ,it has to move in all clients. so basically when I am moving the image I am sending the image position to the node server in a json format , then from there I am broadcasting to all clients. there is a ~approx 300ms latency from the time. following are the results. Client 1 sending data to server at : 286136 (timestamp) Server received at : 286271 Client2 received data at : 286470 Client3 received data at : 286479 Client4 received data at : 286487 Client5 received data at : 286520 the latency between move from client1 to client5 is 384ms. its too hight for a racing game .. here is my server code. var app = require('express').createServer(); var io = require('socket.io'); var http = require('http'); var http_server = http.createServer(); var server = http.createServer(app); server.listen(3000); var socket = io.listen(server,{ log: false }); socket.sockets.on('connection', function (client) { client.on('message', function (data){ console.log("data arrived to server",new Date().getTime()); // Below both statements are giving same latency between the client 1 and client 5 client.broadcast.emit('message',data); //socket.sockets.emit('message',data); }); }); 1) Is there any way to optimize the server code to reduce the latency? 2) is this expected latency using node and websockets ? 3) is socket io can't broadcast the data asynchronously (I mean at a same time) ? Thanks Kishorevarma
