• Why are my Windows 7 updates continuously failing?

  I'm an advanced level user here with an odd issue. I have two Windows Updates that are failing to install, every single time. I'm getting a mysterious "Code 1" error on both updates, an error for which I'm having difficulty finding a solution. The updates in question are: Security Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package (KB2538243) System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821) [May 2011] Because these updates are failing, the Shut Down button in my start menu always has the shield icon next to it, indicating that "new" updates will be installed on shut down. But, of course, they'll fail and when the PC is restarted, the shield icon is still there. • Restoring snapshot for Microsoft Exchange server

  Hi, The background: I need to do some testing with Microsoft exchange server. Specifically, I'll be installing some software on the Microsoft exchange server machine and uninstalling that same software again. The problem I face: While I repeatedly do this with different versions of my software there is a chance that sometime later the Exchange server installation might get corrupted. When that happens I would need to reinstall Exchange server which I feel is somewhat of a chore. So what I am planning to do is to install the Ms Exchange server on a virtual machine in VMware ESX server and take a snapshot so that during my work whenever the installation is corrupted I can restore the snapshot. So here's my question: Would restoring the snapshot for the Microsoft Exchange server virtual machine work correctly? I'm not familiar with the intricacies of exchange server and any changes (if any) that happen with the Domain controller when we use or install an exchange server (Personally I don't think that should happen but just making sure). I have a shortage of time and hence decided to post this question here. Could someone please tell me whether restoring a snapshot for Exchange server would work fine? Thanks a load, Mugen

• Sharing Windows Store apps between accounts

  In Windows 8 it seems natural to me that each person in a family has their own Microsoft Account with which they log in. If you pay for an app on the Windows Store, you can install that same app on several computers using the same Microsoft Account. Good. However, if several persons, in this case my children, each have their own account on the same computer, they do not get access to apps bought on a sibling's account, even if the app has been installed on the same computer. Bad. (Compare this to iOS where you are allowed have several iPhones with different iCloud-connected accounts but all using the same iTunes App Store account, which is perfect for a family where all can then use the same app which was bought just once) Is there any way to share apps between Microsoft Accounts (e.g. members of the same family)? Alternatively, is there a way to run apps that are installed on a computer when you are logged in with a Microsoft Account different than the one used when installing the app?

  I would like to find text which is between the < and characters, and then turn any found text into "normal" case, where first letter of word is capitalized.   I am developing a script that takes an article, searches the article for a "keyword" and then randomly replaces that keyword with an anchor link. I have the script working as it should, however I need to be able to have an array of "replacements" for the function to loop through and insert at the random location. So the first random position would get anchor link #1. The second random position would get anchor link #2. The third random position would get anchor link #3. etc...   i have a database in MySql that has a name column in it which contains several words(description). I am connected to database with java through eclipse. • Only first word of two strings gets added to db

  When trying to add words to a database via php, only the first word of both strings gets added. I have a few records for example, one with "another time test" and another with "last test of time" if i search "test" the first comes up but the second doesn't, and if i search "time" the second comes up but not the first. It is only seeing the last word of the record. what gives?

Email is one of the most important communications mediums today, but even with all of the advances in Outlook over the years it can still be difficult to keep track of conversations, files, and contacts.  Xobni makes it easy by indexing your emails and organizing them by sender.  You can use its powerful search to quickly find any email, find related messages, and then view more information about that contact with information from social networks.  And, to top it off, it even lets you view your Yahoo! emails directly in Outlook without upgrading to a Yahoo! Plus account.  Xobni runs in Outlook 2003, 2007, and 2010, including the 64 bit version of Outlook 2010, and users of older versions will especially enjoy the new features Xobni brings for free. Getting started Download the Xobni Free installer (link below), and run to start the installation.  Make sure to exit Outlook before installing.  Xobni may need to download additional files which may take a few moments. When the download is finished, proceed with the install as normal.  You can opt out of the Product Improvement Program at the end of the installation by unchecking the box.  Additionally, you are asked to share Xobni with your friends on social networks, but this is not required.   Next time you open Outlook, you’ll notice the new Xobni sidebar in Outlook.  You can choose to watch an introduction video that will help you quickly get up to speed on how Xobni works. Email to Outlook for Free One of Xobni’s neatest features is that it let’s you add your Yahoo! email account to Outlook for free.  Click the gear icon in the bottom of the Xobni sidebar and select Options to set it up. Select the Integration tab, and click Enable to add Yahoo! mail to Xobni. Sign in with your Yahoo! account, and make sure to check the Keep me signed in box. Note that you may have to re-signin every two weeks to keep your Yahoo! account connected.  Select I agree to finish setting it up. Xobni will now download and index your recent Yahoo! mail. Your Yahoo! messages will only show up in the Xobni sidebar.  Whenever you select a contact, you will see related messages from your Yahoo! account as well.  Or, you can search from the sidebar to find individual messages from your Yahoo! account.  Note the Y! logo beside Yahoo! messages.   Select a message to read it in the Sidebar.  You can open the email in Yahoo! in your browser, or can reply to it using your default Outlook email account. If you have many older messages in your Yahoo! account, make sure to go back to the Integration tab and select Index Yahoo! Mail to index all of your emails. • How to save email as draft in Outlook 2003 programmatically?

  I am working on an VB.NET app which constructs emails programmatically. This app can be used by different people at the same time so I thought that having a "central" email mailbox would be appropriate. The users would then have "links" (not sure of the correct term) to that central mailbox through their local copy of Outlook. I want to be able to save these emails so that all users can see the generated emails in the "Drafts" folder of their Outlook so that they can check the emails first for any errors and then send it off. I was originally simply talking directly to the Outlook app on the server using Microsoft.Office.Interop but have since read that it is not recommended for use in this sort of scenario. Any ideas?

• MySQL, how can I SELECT WHERE one field value doesn't occurs in another?

  I'm trying to do a search on my test server, speed isn't so important. I want to find if a phrase, the whole contents of one field, occurs in any part (as a whole) doesn't occur in another field. Heres my current query which finds if the phrase does occur SELECT pads.padid, pads.programname, keywords.word FROM Pads JOIN keywords ON Pads.Padid = keywords.Padid WHERE pads.Programname = keywords.word AND RemoveMeDate = '2001-01-01 00:00:00' My problem is that the field word contains other words too. I need to produce a count of where there isn't a keywords record with keywords.word equal to pads.programname ? EDIT: So if I have these records Pads: PadID=3 ProgramName=my prog PadID=4 ProgramName=Bad prog PadID=5 ProgramName=Good prog PadID=6 ProgramName=other prog Keywords: PadID=3 word=fox prog PadID=3 word=pig prog PadID=4 word=big prog PadID=4 word=nice prog PadID=5 word=fox prog PadID=6 word=bad prog PadID=6 word=fox prog The query I want would retun a count of 3 and record 6 has bad prog

  In Delphi, the declaration of the DivMod function is procedure DivMod(Dividend: Cardinal; Divisor: Word; var Result, Remainder: Word); Thus, the divisor, result, and remainder cannot be grater than 65535, a rather severe limitation. Why is this? Why couldn't the delcaration be procedure DivMod(Dividend: Cardinal; Divisor: Cardinal; var Result, Remainder: Cardinal); The procedure is implemented using assembly, and is therefore probably extremely fast. Would it not be possible for the code PUSH EBX MOV EBX,EDX MOV EDX,EAX SHR EDX,16 DIV BX MOV EBX,Remainder MOV [ECX],AX MOV [EBX],DX POP EBX to be adapted to cardinals? • How can I change this method to get rid of the warning without anything changing?

• Why does the compiler complain "while expected" when I try to add more code?

  Write a program with a word containing @ character as an input. If the word doesn't contain @, it should prompt the user for a word with @. Once a word with @ is read, it should output the word then terminate. • Intermittent FTP login issues (Microsoft IIS FTP Service)

  I've got a somewhat weird problem which I'm not sure how to troubleshoot. We have a FTP running on a Windows Server 2003 machine using the IIS FTP Service, this is for our clients and is configured with IP-restrictions. However, now ONE of the clients starts complaining that they can't log in to the server from time to time. This is just ONE of 10+ clients that have this issue, which makes me think it's a problem on their side. Just to be on the safe side I had a peek into the FTP logs and found something strange. Whenever succeed in loggin in this is what I can find in the logs: nnn.nnn.nnn.70, userxxx, 2012-06-11, 09:22:32, MSFTPSVC1, SERVERNAME, nnn.nn.nn.11, 0, 0, 0, 331, 0, [191747]USER, userxxx, -, nnn.nnn.nnn.70, userxxx, 2012-06-11, 09:22:32, MSFTPSVC1, SERVERNAME, nnn.nn.nn.11, 0, 0, 0, 230, 0, [191747]PASS, -, -, However, if the login fails I see the following events: nnn.nnn.nnn.70, userxxx, 2012-06-11, 09:16:33, MSFTPSVC1, SERVERNAME, nnn.nn.nn.11, 0, 0, 0, 331, 0, [191739]USER, userxxx, -, nnn.nnn.nnn.70, -, 2012-06-11, 09:16:33, MSFTPSVC1, SERVERNAME, nnn.nn.nn.11, 0, 0, 0, 530, 1326, [191739]PASS, -, -, When you look at the event where the clients sends the PASS in the successful login it seems to know that it is infact "userxxx" that is coupled to that PASS, but when it fails it seems to be lost since user in the PASS event is set to "-".   I've been looking at RFC5424 to find the formally specified marker that will end a syslog event. Unfortunately I couldn't find it. So If I wanted to implement some small syslog server that reacts on certain messages what is the marker that ends a message (yes commonly an event is a single line, but I just couldn't find it in the specification) Clarification: I call it event because I associate a message with a single line. An event could possibly be some thing like Type: foo Source: webservers whereas a message to me is this: Type: foo Source: webservers http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5424#section-6 defines: SYSLOG-MSG = HEADER SP STRUCTURED-DATA [SP MSG] neither STRUCTURED-DATA nor MSG tell me how these fields end. Especially MSG is defined as as MSG-ANY / MSG-UTF8 which expands to virtually anything. There's nothing that says a newline marks the end (or an 8 or an a for that matter). • Silverlight ViewBase in separate assembly - possible?

  I have all my views in a project inheriting from a ViewBase class that inherits from UserControl.
