.NET 3.5 doesn't completely support XPATH 2.0 or XSLT 2.0, which is just too bad. Does anyone know if these two will be included and fully supported in any future .NET versions?
I've .NET framework 3.5 installed in my laptop. Just .NET alone, no Visual Studio. How can I run Java, Python, Ruby and Perl programs from the console? What are the commands used for running them?
Do I need to install something else also, for running these language files?
Hi
i am looking a simple(implements only base features like add articles and publish news) cms based on asp.net mvc. It's must be a simple because i am a newbie in asp.net and mvc and i want to use that cms for studing purpose. That's why it would be great if cms has been writed in a good code style practice.
I was wondering if there was a way I could program and compile .net applications (c#, asp.net mvc) from a usb stick on any laptop I plugged in.
I am lookinjg for a solution that does not have me installing programs on the laptop, so I have to be able to run an ide or editor from an exe and compile presumably from command line.
Was also wondering if I can run MS test projects from command line to check tests passed etc.
Thanks
I want to use inflector.net in my project.

Are there any alternatives?
In a scenario where webMethods Composite Application Framework (CAF) experienced developers are hard to find, compared to .Net, this question comes into play: does webMethods CAF have .Net integration capabilities?
Please tell me how can i add such a launch condition to my desktop application setup (.net) so that, Only install the software if the revision level is high than that shown in the registry file. Where installation occurs update the registry file.
Please help me out.. i am using VS2005 (c#.net)
Hi Folks
I've read through a lot of the "Learn C# .Net" questions just to see if this question was answered already (directly or indirectly).
I program mostly in C++ so I find the website http://www.cplusplus.com/ invaluable and there's rarely a day when it is not open in my browser! However, I'm just wondering is there an C# .Net equivalent that people find themselves constantly referencing?
The best I'm aware of is:

Hello, I have used ADO.net entity framwork to build my application. My application's data diagram contains 2 bridge entities. The problem is that I can not see or access these bridge entities in ADO.net framework using domain services. Do you have any idea how to use CRUD operations on them?
Regards,
We are looking for a .NET PDF creator. It needs to be .NET, so we can just copy the file(s) onto the server, not having to install anything.
We only need to create a PDF with some text and images and a heading, that's all.
Anyone know a good one? We are happy to buy if there is a good one that is easy to use.
Thanks in advance.
For a company that has their stack built on Apache Tomcat and JSP what would be the best web service platform to be leveraged by that infrastructure that would be consumed by .NET client.
From the .NET side I know the answer would be Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) but I'm not sure from the other side.
Hi,
I want to develop an application in VB.net for handheld device(Ticket machine in Bus and train).Is it possible to develop in Vb net.
Whether i need windows OS in my handheld device or any runtime environment only needed.
My hardware is ARM processor.
I want to run my application as standalone in my machine.
I'm trying to upload some image files in my asp.net web app.
Server OS: Windows server 2003 and IIS 6
I granted write permission in IIS to root and destination folder and granted FullControl Access to this users IUSer_Mashinname, Asp.net user, network services,Everyone, and all other users to the web app root folder and upload destination folder, but there is "Access denied problem".
Well basically I've got a vb.net script connecting to IRC, and I'm working on making it a basic chat system, but I've run into a problem.
Say I receive this:
:[email protected].net PRIVMSG #channel :message
I want to grab specific information to output to the user.
I want to grab nickname and message
How can I go about doing this?
I thought about using regex, but I can't figure out how to make regex grab message since there's nothing after it.
I'm using ASP.NET MVC Binding Framework.
Let's say I have a class Item, that has a mandatory field Id.
I am binding a List, and do not want one error message for each element in this list.
If more then one error happen when binding the Id field, I want only one message to be added to ModelState and shown to the user.
In one sentence: Is there a way to avoid duplicated messages using ASP.NET MVC Binding Framework?
Is it possible to use Oracle Coherence to provide distributed caching to an ASP.NET application?
We would like to use Coherence to scale out an ASP.NET application which does not have distributed caching. Alternatives would be memcached, etc. However, we are considering Coherence since we already have licensing/expertise in that area.
A client of mine has an application written in Classic ASP and COM+. The managers are interested in migrating it to ASP.net MVC but they have to convince the CIO that it is a good move. The old app still works OK, other than the fact that no one at the company can maintain it. How can we sell upper management on converting to ASP.net from Classic ASP? Thanks in advance!

I'm working on a java class that I will use with Pervasive Data Profiler that needs to check if a Date String will work with .NET's DateTime.Parse.
Is there an equivalent class or 3rd party library that can give me this functionality that is very close to .NET's DateTime.Parse?
I am reading the Asp.net security documentation on msdn.I come across these tow terms and get really confused.
# WindowsIdentity = WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent()
which returns the identity of the security context of the currently executing Win32 thread.
# Thread = Thread.CurrentPrincipal
which returns the principal of the currently executing .NET thread which rides on top of the Win32 thread.
I have a COM object written in managed code (C++/CLI). I am using that object in standard C++.
How do I force my COM object's destructor to be called immediately when the COM object is released? If that's not possible, call I have Release() call a MyDispose() method on my COM object?
My code to declare the object (C++/CLI):
[Guid("57ED5388-blahblah")]
[InterfaceType(ComInterfaceType::InterfaceIsIDispatch)]
[ComVisible(true)]
public interface class IFoo
{
void Doit();
};
[Guid("417E5293-blahblah")]
[ClassInterface(ClassInterfaceType::None)]
[ComVisible(true)]
public ref class Foo : IFoo
{
public:
void MyDispose();
~Foo() {MyDispose();} // This is never called
!Foo() {MyDispose();} // This is called by the garbage collector.
virtual ULONG Release() {MyDispose();} // This is never called
virtual void Doit();
};
My code to use the object (native C++):
#import "..\\Debug\\Foo.tlb"
...
Bar::IFoo setup(__uuidof(Bar::Foo)); // This object comes from the .tlb.
setup.Doit();
setup-Release(); // explicit release, not really necessary since Bar::IFoo's destructor will call Release().
If I put a destructor method on my COM object, it is never called. If I put a finalizer method, it is called when the garbage collector gets around to it. If I explicitly call my Release() override it is never called.
I would really like it so that when my native Bar::IFoo object goes out of scope it automatically calls my .NET object's dispose code. I would think I could do it by overriding the Release(), and if the object count = 0 then call MyDispose(). But apparently I'm not overriding Release() correctly because my Release() method is never called.
Obviously, I can make this happen by putting my MyDispose() method in the interface and requiring the people using my object to call MyDispose() before Release(), but it would be slicker if Release() just cleaned up the object.
Is it possible to force the .NET COM object's destructor, or some other method, to be called immediately when a COM object is released?
Googling on this issue gets me a lot of hits telling me to call System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ReleaseComObject(), but of course, that's how you tell .NET to release a COM object. I want COM Release() to Dispose of a .NET object.
I am using Red Gates ANTS memory profiler to debug a memory leak. It keeps warning me that:
Memory Fragmentation may be causing
.NET to reserver too much free memory.
or
Memory Fragmentation is affecting the size of the largest object that can be allocated
Because I have OCD, this problem must be resolved.
What are some standard coding practices that help avoid memory fragmentation.
Can you defragment it through some .NET methods? Would it even help?
