I was going to write a helper class to make it neater, but I then I wondered: is there a library that tries to provide a simpler facade for Regular Expressions in Java? I'm thinking something in the style of commons-lang and Guava.

    Hi, I m opening a HttpConnection to a URL. Its working in simulator but when i try it in device, it gives "java.io.IOException: Bad DNS address" while opening the HttpConnection. I serached the forums but havent got the solution yet. That URL is opening in Blackberry device Internet Browser but not getting the HttpConnection (HttpConnection is coming NULL) when i try through my code.

    I need a Java RegEx to split, or find something in a string, but exclude stuff that's between double quotes. What I do now is this: String withoutQuotes = str.replaceAll("\\\".*?\\\"", "placeholder"); withoutQuotes = withoutQuotes.replaceAll(" ",""); but this doesn't work nice with indexOf, and I also need to be able to split, for example: String str = "hello;world;how;\"are;you?\"" String[] strArray = str.split(/*some regex*/); // strArray now contains: ["hello", "world", "how", "\"are you?\"] quotes are always balanced quotes can be escaped with \" Any help is appreciated

    Hi, How can I do long-polling using netty framework? Say for example I fetch http://localhost/waitforx but waitforx is asynchronous because it has to wait for an event? Say for example it fetches something from a blocking queue(can only fetch when data in queue). When getting item from queue I would like to sent data back to client.     User32 interface (platform library) is missing some WinAPI functions, so I tried extending it: package myapp import com.sun.jna.platform.win32.W32API public interface User32 extends com.sun.jna.platform.win32.User32 { myapp.User32 INSTANCE boolean IsWindow(W32API.HWND hWnd) } But then calling myapp.User32.INSTANCE.FindWindow(..) results in java.lang.NullPointerException: Cannot invoke method FindWindow() on null object

    Is there a Java convention to refer to methods, static and otherwise, any specific one or the whole overload, etc? e.g. String.valueOf - referring to all overloads of static valueOf String.valueOf(char) - specific overload, formal parameter name omittable? String.split - looks like a static method, but actually an instance method Maybe aString.split is the convention? String#split - I've seen this HTML anchor form too, which I guess is javadoc-influenced Is there an authoritative recommendation on how to clearly refer to these things?
