  • MySQL Many to Many with Unique keys and Update/Select if Exists otherwise Insert

    In my goal to have a Many-to-Many relationship in my MySQL database I have arrived at another bridge to build. Current Tables: Users (id, name) Tags (id, name) User_Tags (user_id, tag_id) Here is the goal: I would like to have the ability to take a tag i.e: #fb and insert it into my Tags database which has a unique constraint on name and if the tag exists I would like to return it's id I would like to insert the tag.id and the current user's user.id into User_Tags. I do not have any unique constraints on the User_Tags table because I would like to be able to track the user's most commonly used tags and present them in a list ordered by frequency of use. I am currently developing this project in PHP using prepared statements. Additionally, performance is not currently an issue as my user count is still fairly small, but it is steadily growing and may be an issue in the future.

  • jQuery when div is clicked update input field issue

    Hello, I'm rather new to jquery so this may be the issue. I have a script that outputs several divs all with different text data in them. I can get it to take one or I can script out different cases of each changing the class name but I think there has to be a way where it references whatever link is being clicked instead of what it's currently doing.   • Why won't the debugger update?

    Hello everyone, Ive had this problem multiple times and it ruins my projects, I make some changes, like say I have a button in the top left corner of the form and move it to the top right corner, then I press debug but nothing happens to the form, it doesn't change the button is still in the top left-hand corner instead of the top right, and it also doesn't except any new code, its like it saved the project right there and won't move on. Does any one know why or had this problem before? Please, Help!!!! Additional Details: Compiler: Microsoft Visual C# 2008 Express Edition I once fixed this problem by rebuilding the solution, but its never worked again.

  • WPF: How to efficiently update an Image 30 times per second

    Hello, I'm writing a WPF application that uses a component, and this component returns a pointer (IntPtr) to pixels of a bitmap (stride * height). I know in advance that the bitmap is a 24bits rgb, its width and height. Updating the Image control with these bitmaps makes up a video to the user, but I'm not sure what's the most efficient way to do that, most of the time the CPU usage goes to 75%+ and memory changing from 40mb to 500mb and the nI think GC starts to work and then it drops again to 40mm. The app starts to not be responsive. What shoud I do? thanks!

    we have a large table (5608782 rows and growing) that has 3 columns Zip1,Zip2, distance all columns are currently int, we would like to convert this table to use varchars for international usage but need to do a mass import into the new table convert zip < 5 digits to 0 padded varchars 123 becomes 00123 etc. is there a way to do this short of looping over each row and doing the translation programmaticly?

    This has got to be a FAQ, so can someone please just direct me to a "network programming for dummies" URL? The server wants to push information to a client or broadcast to all, when an event happens - as opposed to the clients constantly polling the server "just in case". The client then updates a browser page display. How do I do that? (toldya it was a n00b question) Should I have a thread which receives info on a socket and then writes it to a database which the browser display (PHP) can process with an HTML refresh tag, or what?   • In MS Access is there a way to allow forms to update while maintaning Read Only

    I have several forms linked tables via queries. The form pull data such as sales and ratios by selecting a product from the main's form's combo box. I am however having to issues: 1- I would ultimately prefer the combo box to be a free entry; however by just entering in the box and hitting enter (not a button called “enter on a screen” which would initiate recalcs, just normal enter), while it does bring the new information in sub-forms it also changes the information in the original table. If I make the table read only that it just doesn't allow the form to work by saying that the table is read only. 2- The same Read only issue occurs when another user with read only rights tries to use the database. I understand that ready only is functioning as intended, however I am wondering if there is way to make some functions work while disallowing the updating. I am unfortunately learning on the go, so go easy plz. Thank you

We set a breakpoint at line of "beep", then lunch the test application under ide debug mode, when ide stops at the breakpoint line (qry.post has been executed), at this time we use microsoft access to open test.mdb and open table aaa you will find there are no any changes in table aaa, if you let the ide continue running after pressing f9 you can find a new record is inserted in to table aaa, but if you press ctrl+f2 to terminate the application at the breakpoint, you will find the table aaa has no record been inserted, but in normal circumstance, a new record should be inserted in to the table aaa after qry.post executed. who can explain this problem , it troubles me so long time. thanks !!! BTW, the ide is delphi 2010, and the access mdb file is created by microsoft access 2007 under windows 7

    I have an application which has different font sizes for different controls say Button: 10, TextBlock : 12 etc. I want to give options to the user where he can select any one of the below say Normal , Small, Big, Bigger. Suppose one selects "small" I would want to decrease every distinct font size by 2. If "Big", I would want to increase every font size by 2. I hope we can do this using converter sending actual font size as parameter and render as per the selected choice if I am not wrong. What will be the best option.     I have a big form on my site. When the users fill it out and submit it, most of the data just gets dumped to the database, and then they get redirected to a new page. However, I'd also like to use the data to query another site, and then parse the results. That might take a bit longer. It's not essential that the user sees these results right away, so I was wondering if it's possible to asynchronously call a function that will handle this, and then return an HttpResponse from my view like usual without making them wait? If so... how? Any particular libraries I should look at?

    I have a client trying to communicate with a WCF service in a transactional manner. The client passes some data to the service and the service adds the data to its database accordingly. For some reason, the new data the service submits to its database isn't being persisted. When I have a look at the table data in the Server Explorer no new rows are added... I've tried all combinations of db.SaveChanges() and db.AcceptAllChanges() as well, but the new payment data just doesn't get added to the database!

  • Rails: Can't set or update tag_list using a text field with acts_as_taggable_on

    Hey everyone, I'm trying to add tagging to a rails photo gallery system I'm working on. It works from the back-end, but if I try to set or change it in the form view, it doesn't work. I added acts_as_taggable to the photo model and did the migrations. My gallery builder is programmed to add one tag automatically to each photo it creates. This works fine, just as if it were setting it for the console. However, I can't seem to set tags using a text_field in the photo form. Here's the code I added to my photo form: <p> <%= f.label :tag_list %><br /> <%= f.text_field :tag_list %> </p> Now, that's pretty trivial, and since :tag_list supports single-string comma-separated assignment (e.g. tag_list = "this, that, the other" #= ['this', 'that', 'the other']), I don't see why using a text field doesn't work. And to make even less sense, if a tag list has already been populated, the list will still show up in the text field when editing the photo. I just can't seem to commit any changes to the list. The documentation on their github page doesn't appear to give any information on how to set these values from the view. Any ideas? Oh, and I'm using the Rails 3 gem version.

  • Use MySQL trigger to update another table when duplicate key found

    Been scratching my head on this one, hoping one of you kind people and direct me towards solving this problem. I have a mysql table of customers, it contains a lot of data, but for the purpose of this question, we only need to worry about 4 columns 'ID', 'Firstname', 'Lastname', 'Postcode' Problem is, the table contains a lot of duplicated customers. A new table is being created where each customer is unique and for us, we decide a unique customer is based on 'Firstname', 'Lastname' and 'Postcode' However, (this is the important bit) we need to ensure each new "unique" customer record also can be matched to the original multiple entries of that customer in the original table. I believe the best way to do this is to have a third table, that has 'NewUniqueID', 'OldCustomerID'. So we can search this table for 'NewUniqueID' = '123' and it would return multiple 'OldCustomerID' values where appropriate. I am hoping to make this work using a trigger and the on duplicate key syntax. So what would happen is as follows: An query is run taking the old customer table and inserting it in to the new unique table. (A standard Insert Select query) On duplicate key continue adding records, but add one entry in to the third table noting the 'NewUniqueID' that duped along with the 'OldCustomerID' of the record we were trying to insert.
