  • What is the difference between Java RMI and JMS?

    When designing an distributed application in Java there seams to be a few technologies that address the same kind of problem. I have briefly read about Java Remote Method Invocation and Java Message Service, but it is hard to really see the difference. Java RMI seams to be more tightly coupled than JMS because JMS use asynchronous communication, but otherwise I don't see any big differences. What is the difference between them? Is one of them newer than the other one? Which one is more common/popular in enterprises? What advantages do they have over eachother? When is one preferred over the other? Do they differ much in how difficult they are to implement? I also think that Web Services and CORBA address the same problem.

  • making arrays from tab-delimited text file column

    I was wondering if anyone could help a desperate newbie with perl with the following question. I've been trying all day but with my perl book at work, I can't seem to anything relevant in google...or maybe am genuinely stupid with this. I have a file that looks something like the following: Bob April Bob April Bob March Mary August Robin December Robin April The output file I'm after is: Bob April April March Mary August Robin December April So that it lists each month in the order that it appears for each person. I tried making it into a hash but of course it wouldn't let me have duplicates so I thought I would like to have arrays for each name (in this example, Bob, Mary and Robin). I'm afraid to upload the code I've been trying to tweak because I know it'll be horribly wrong. I think I need to define(?) the array. Would this be correct? Any help would be greatly appreciated and I promise I will be studying more about perl in the meantime.   • With PascalMock how do I mock a method with an untyped out parameter and an open array parameter?

    I'm currently in the process of getting started with unit testing and mocking for good and I stumbled over the following method that I can't seem to fabricate a working mock implementation for: function GetInstance(const AIID: TGUID; out AInstance; const AArgs: array of const; const AContextID: TImplContextID = CID_DEFAULT): Boolean; (TImplContextID is just an alias for Integer) I thought it would have to look something like this: function TImplementationProviderMock.GetInstance( const AIID: TGUID; out AInstance; const AArgs: array of const; const AContextID: TImplContextID): Boolean; begin Result := AddCall('GetInstance') .WithParams([@AIID, AContextID]) .ReturnsOutParams([AInstance]) .ReturnValue; end; But the compiler complains about the .ReturnsOutParams([AInstance]) saying "Bad argument type in variable type array constructor.". Also I haven't found a way to specify the open array parameter AArgs at all. Also, is using the @-notation for the TGUID-typed parameter the right way to go? Is it possible to mock this method with the current version of PascalMock at all?

I was googling, asking and searching and no results :/ All I need is to find nodes with 'link' param using Zend\Navigation in my AliasSegment::match function. Basically, each value in the array needs to be placed underneath the one above, but it must be based on this same structure of 3 columns, and also an equal amount of fruits per column/row (unless there was like 7 fruits there would be 3 in one column and 2 in the other columns.     Is there difference in behavior between a constructor call and a procedure call in Delphi records? I have a D2010 code sample I want to convert to D2009 (which I am using). The sample uses a parameterless constructor, which is not permitted in Delphi 2009. If I substitute a simple parameterless procedure call, is there any functional difference for records? I.E. TVector = record private FImpl: IVector; public constructor Create; // not allowed in D2009 end; becomes TVector = record private FImpl: IVector; public procedure Create; // so change to procedure end; As far as I can see this should work, but I may be missing something.

  • Sorting and Pagination does not work after I build a custom keyword search that is build using relat

    I recently started to build a custom keyword search using Yii 1.1.x The search works 100%. But as soon as I sort the columns and use pagination in the admin view the search gets lost and all results are shown. So with otherwords it's not filtering so that only the search results show. Somehow it resets it. In a tableView I have the following: NSDictionary *cat = [category objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; cell.textLabel.text = [cat valueForKey:@"reference"]; This populates the tableView with the content of the array from an XML file. There is another array “data” that prints out the content to the debug console and I want to populate another view with this content. But I am having lot of trouble populating the next view with the data array. NSLog(@"cellForRowAtIndexPath-- Reference:%@: Verse:%@", [cat valueForKey:@"reference"], [cat valueForKey:@"data"]); The didSelectRowAtIndexPath method looks like this: Verse *vvc = [[Verse alloc] initWithNibName:@"VerseView" bundle:nil]; vvc.verses = [[category objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] valueForKey:@"verse"]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:vvc animated:YES]; [vvc release]; [tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:YES]; In the cellForRowAtIndexPath of the next view I have the following: NSDictionary *cat = [verses objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; cell.textLabel.text = [cat valueForKey:@"data"]; What I would like is to have the “data” in a textView.
