I'm looking for a nice, Mac OS X-like, client for Git. As an example, I use Versions for Subversion and it's exactly what I'd like to purchase for Git access. Suggestions?
Versions link
I understand to do this on the iPhone you need to trap link requests (as per my other iPhone question UIWebView Expose JavaScript) and you can easily do the reverse and access JavaScript from Obj-C code.
However, I would like to have JavaScript be able to call some Objective-C functions that would somehow be registered with WebKit. I assume that you can do this better than trapping links like on the iPhone as on Mac OS X we have access to the full WebKit.
I wish to basically do the reverse of Using JavaScript from Objective-C
I had to reinstall my OS, and so, I reinstalled django 1.1. Since reinstalling, when I run tests in my app, I get several failures from django.contrib.auth.
Logs: http://dpaste.com/178153/
I asked on #django, and no one is too sure what the cause of the errors are. Some of my own code fails its tests, because it's not fully written yet, but that shouldn't cause django to fail it's core tests...
I have included django.contrib.admin, which was mentioned as a possible cause.
How to run specific program with root privileges (Ubuntu OS) when no sudo user log into system?
Program need root privileges to function correctly. Normal user shouldn't be able to shutdown this process.
I want to color badge files and folders based on the some condition in finder, what is the approach to achieve this in Mac OS X 10.6

I would like to dynamically allocate memory from an assembly
program that does not link against the standard C library.
Since brk(2) and sbrk(2) are unavailable on Mac OS X (10.6.2),
what are the alternatives?
(I'm guessing that it involves a Mach call, but there seems to
be little documentation around that)

correct me if im wrong, but isn't distributed SCMs for OS projects while centralized SCMs are better for corporate/private projects?
cause with eg. mercurial anyone gets an exact copy of the repository with FULL history features, while with centralized you only get the latest working copy.
im more focused on private projects so i wonder if its better with centralized SCMs or doesnt it matter?
My colleagues and I are looking for alternative client tools for Mac OS X.
I tend to prefer the text-based interface and we have PHPMyAdmin installed on our development servers (Linux).
What are your recommendations?
(One recommendation per answer please, so people can up-mod individual recommendations).
OpenCL 1.0 came with nVidia driver for Mac OS X 10.6. I wonder if/how it is possible to update header files to utilize OpenCL 1.1 API. Greatly appreciate in advance.
I´m just starting iPhone development with a small team of (really young and naive) colleagues, we all are fairly new to OS X, my question is:
If we are planning to develop for every iPod Touch/iPhone out there (not the iPad, I read that thing requires Snow Leopard), what problems will we encounter when sharing code (and making commits) if we all have a combination of Leopard and Snow Leopard systems?
Hi,
I've Motorola Symbol Handheld Model MC3090 (from symbol MC3000 series), having Windows CE 5.0.

I know the process id of an application in Mac OS X. How can I switch to it (using applescript, or python, or whatever)?
By "switch", I mean, put in focus.
The usual solution is to use the applescript code tell application "Foo" activate, but here the name is not useful because I have many instances of the same application running. I am however able to get the process id of the application.
How can I switch to this application programmatically?
I need to get a simple description of the OS, such as "Windows XP (SP2)" or "Windows 2000 Professional" to include in some debugging code. Ideally, I'd like to simply retrieve it by calling a "GetOSDisplayName" function.
Is there such a function available for C++ win32 programming?
Is there any good tutorial on how to get things installed and working on Mac OS X Snow Leopard? Also which tools do you use? TextMate? Or something else?
I am trying my first steps with RoR after years of ASP.NET development on Windows platform but I am getting curious to learn other things as well to become a better developer.
I'm making a new Mac OS X application. (not an iPhone app)

What is the easiest way to activate PHP and MySQL on Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard)?
I'd prefer to use any built in versions before resorting to downloading from the PHP or MySQL websites.
I'm comfortable at the command line in Terminal.
In Windows the Dropbox client uses python25.dll and the MS C runtime libraries (msvcp71.dll, etc). On OS X the Python code is compiled bytecode (pyc).
My guess is they are using a common library they have written then just have to use different hooks for the different platforms.
What method of development is this? It clearly isn't IronPython or PyObjC. This paradigm is so appealing to me, but my CS foo and Google foo are failing me.
Hi,
A PDF I generate with jasper reports renders Ok in my MAC but some labels show wrong on Linux. For example, I have a static label that doesn't show completely on linux (only a part of the whole word) but yes on Mac. Can the OS be somehow related? What is the usual source of this kind of problems?
