• How to store arbitrary data for some HTML tags

  I'm making a page which has some interaction provided by javascript. Just as an example: links which send an AJAX request to get the content of articles and then display that data in a div. Obviously in this example, I need each link to store an extra bit of information: the id of the article. The way I've been handling it in case was to put that information in the href link this: <a class="article" href="#5"> I then use jQuery to find the a.article elements and attach the appropriate event handler. (don't get too hung up on the usability or semantics here, it's just an example) Anyway, this method works, but it smells a bit, and isn't extensible at all (what happens if the click function has more than one parameter? what if some of those parameters are optional?) The immediately obvious answer was to use attributes on the element. I mean, that's what they're for, right? (Kind of). <a articleid="5" href="link/for/non-js-users.html"> In my recent question I asked if this method was valid, and it turns out that short of defining my own DTD (I don't), then no, it's not valid or reliable. A common response was to put the data into the class attribute (though that might have been because of my poorly-chosen example), but to me, this smells even more. Yes it's technically valid, but it's not a great solution. Another method I'd used in the past was to actually generate some JS and insert it into the page in a <script> tag, creating a struct which would associate with the object. var myData = { link0 : { articleId : 5, target : '#showMessage' // etc... }, link1 : { articleId : 13 } }; <a href="..." id="link0"> But this can be a real pain in butt to maintain and is generally just very messy. • I can't seem to figure out type variables mixed with classes.

  I pretty much understand 3/4 the rest of the language, but every time I dip my feet into using classes in a meaningful way in my code I get permantently entrenched. Why doesn't this extremely simple code work? data Room n = Room n n deriving Show class HasArea a where width :: (Num n) => a -> n instance (Num n) => HasArea (Room n) where width (Room w h) = w So, room width is denoted by ints or maybe floats, I don't want to restrict it at this point. Both the class and the instance restrict the n type to Nums, but it still doesn't like it and I get this error: Couldn't match expected type `n1' against inferred type `n' `n1' is a rigid type variable bound by the type signature for `width' at Dungeon.hs:11:16 `n' is a rigid type variable bound by the instance declaration at Dungeon.hs:13:14 In the expression: w In the definition of `width': width (Room w h) = w In the instance declaration for `HasArea (Room n)' So it tells me the types doesn't match, but it doesn't tell me what types it thinks they are, which would be really helpful. As a side note, is there any easy way to debug an error like this? The only way I know to do it is to randomly change stuff until it works.

• Trouble installing R-2.15.2 on Fedora 14

  I need to install R-2.15.2, the latest version. I tried using blah> sudo yum install R to install R, but for whatever reason (maybe because it's an old version of Fedora?) my system thinks R version 13 is the most recent. So, I downloaded the .tar.gz file from R's site and used the following: blah> tar -xvf R-2.15.2.tar.gz This successfully unzipped the file. I then ran: blah> ./configure blah/R-2.15.2> ls ChangeLog COPYING Makeconf.in ONEWS src VERSION-NICK config.log doc Makefile.fw OONEWS SVN-REVISION config.site etc Makefile.in po tests configure INSTALL NEWS README tools configure.ac m4 NEWS.pdf share VERSION As you can see, makefiles are present. However, when I run "make" within the R folder, I get the following error: blah/R-2.15.2> make make: No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop. Is there any way I can fix this issue? I'm guessing people will recommend updating Fedora, but is there another way?

  I'm stumpped on how iterate and get values for an Array of Arrays of NSDictionaries (different classes/entities). Here's what I'm currently doing: 1) Constructing two separate arrays of NSDictionaries (different entities) 2) Combining both arrays with: NSMutableArray *combinedArrayofDicts = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithObjects: sizesArrayOfDicts, wishListArrayOfDicts , nil]; 3) Then archive combinedArrayofDicts : NSData *dataToSend = [NSKeyedArchiver archivedDataWithRootObject:combinedArrayofDicts]; 4) Transmit over GameKit [self.session sendDataToAllPiers:dataToSend withDataMode: GKSendDataReliable error:nil]; 5) How would I manage traversing thru this array on the receiving end? I found this one pretty easy, but running the file took an extremely long time, it's been going on for a while and the highest number I've got to is 716151937.   Hi guys I'm new to programming and as a School task i need to implement BFS,DFS and A* search algorithms in java to search for a given Goal from a given start position in a Grid of given size, 4x4,8x8..etc to begin with i don't know how to code the neighbors of all the nodes. For example tile 1 in grid as 2 and 9 as neighbors and Tile 12 has ,141,13,20 as its neighbours but i'm struggling to code that. I need the neighbours part so that i can move from start position to other parts of gird legally by moving horizontally or vertically through the neighbours. my node class is: class node { int value; LinkedList neighbors; bool expanded; } let's say i'm given a 8x8 grid right, So if i start the program with a grid of size 8x8 right : 1 - my main will func will create an arrayList of nodes for example node ArrayList test = new ArrayList(); and then using a for loop assign value to all the nodes in arrayList from 1 to 64 (if the grid size was 8x8). BUT somehow i need t on coding that, if anyone can give me some details i would really appreciate it.

• Php header('Location") error

  I'm having some difficulty with my php coding. I have 3 files, add.php, lib.php, and view.php I created a simple form, and when the user clicks submit, it should direct them to the view.php where it will display the database. Now I'm having a couple issues I can't seem to resolve. when the user clicks submit and the fields are blank or there is an error no entry should be made into the view page (or database)...however when I click submit a blank entry is made into the database. ALSO if i click "enter product" from the top menu bar anytime I click it, it causes a blank entry into the database. I can't figure out why that's happening. My next issue is with the header('Location') and my browser says: "Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at lib.php:13) in add.php on line 16" However if I click submit on my form it goes away. • How to identify end of InputStream in java

  I am trying to read bytes from server using Socket program, ie I am using InputStream to read the bytes. If I pass the length size I am able to read the bytes, but I am not sure what may be the length. So I am not able initialize the byte array. Also I tried while (in.read() !=-1), I observered it loop works fine when the data is sent , but the next line after the loop is not executable , I feel its still looking for the data in the stream but there is no ata. If I close the Server connection , then my client will execute the next line followed to the loop. • lxc containers hangs after upgrade to 13.10

  I have 3 lxc containers. They were all working fine on 12.10 and I upgraded the containers with do-release-upgrade on the containers to 13.04 and 13.10 and that worked great.   So I've been attempting to teach myself SCVMM 2012 and Hyper-V Server 2012 R2, and I seem to have hit a snag. I've connected my Hyper-V Host to SCVMM 2012 successfully, and created a logical network, logical switch, and uplink port profile (which I essentially blew through with the default settings). However when I attempt to create a virtual switch on my Hyper-V host, I run into an issue. The job will use my logical network settings I created to configure the virtual switch, but when it tries to apply it to the host, it stalls and eventually fails with the following error: Error (2916) VMM is unable to complete the request. The connection to the agent vmhost1.test.loc was lost. WinRM: URL: [h**p://vmhost1.test.loc:5985], Verb: [GET], Resource: [h**p://schemas.microsoft.com/wbem/wsman/1/wmi/root/virtualization/v2/Msvm_ConcreteJob?InstanceID=2F401A71-14A2-4636-9B3E-10C0EE942D33] Unknown error (0x80338126) Recommended Action Ensure that the Windows Remote Management (WinRM) service and the VMM agent are installed and running and that a firewall is not blocking HTTP/HTTPS traffic. Ensure that VMM server is able to communicate with econ-hyperv2.econ.loc over WinRM by successfully running the following command: winrm id –r:vmhost1.test.loc This problem can also be caused by a Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) service crash. If the server is running Windows Server 2008 R2, ensure that KB 982293 (h**p://support.microsoft.com/kb/982293) is installed on it. • Watchguard Firewall - Issues with SSLVPN

  I have a client who has a WatchGuard XTM 23 device on site as their primary firewall. I just upgraded its firmware a couple days ago to the latest version for that series, 11.6.6. The problem is that I haven't successfully been able to setup a VPN connection for them. Using the instructions at http://www.watchguard.com/help/docs/webui/11_XTM/en-US/index.html#en-US/mvpn/ssl/configure_fb_for_mvpn_ssl_c.html, I'm trying to setup a VPN with SSL connection: From the firewall web GUI / Dashboard, I go to VPN - Mobile VPN with SSL, I enable it, add the organization's public IP address to which the firewall is connected. I've setup a group in Active Directory named "SSLVPN-Users", verified that the WatchGuard box can talk to the Active Directory Server, and added myself to that group. I then downloaded the WatchGuard Mobile VPN with SSL client onto my own Windows 7 machine, walked to the client's 2nd building across the street (which has a different public internet connection), and tried to connect to the VPN. When I do try to connect with the client, I get the following errors: 2013-06-24T15:41:32.119 Launching WatchGuard Mobile VPN with SSL client. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the client has setup any sort of WatchGuard / Firebox logging server, so actually recording server-side logs to file hasn't been done. I can work on implementing that if I need to. I noticed that if I try to ping the client's public IP address from an outside source, I don't get a response back (unless I added a policy into the firewall to allow ICMP traffic from "External", which I successfully did a few seconds ago for testing purposes - that rule has since been reverted to not respond to external ping requests). There's a policy in the firewall for allowing SSLVPN Traffic authentication requests coming from any external source TO the Firebox, and then to do the authentication / actually allow the VPN traffic, there's a policy allowing traffic for anyone in the SSLVPN-Users group to flow between that user and the inside network. So my questions are: Has anyone seen these errors before from the Watchguard VPN Client, and/or do you have any suggestions on how I can resolve that error? If I need to setup logging server to grab the firewall logs (in order to further troubleshoot this issue), how complicated a task is that and does it require a lot of system resources? The organization I'm consulting with only has 1 server and not a lot of resources or technical know-how.

We're building a new outbound smtp server for our clients that features anti-spam scanning and virus scanning for outbound emails, something we had not previously done. So with CentOS 5.5 x64, Installed and patched completely. Postfix & Dovecot both installed via base repo. • SBS 2008 Backup Drive Full - Error Code '2147942512'

  We are using Windows Backup on SBS 2008 SP2 and backing up to 1TB external hard drives. Recently after switching drives our backup started failing because the backup drive is full and auto-delete isn't automatically deleting older backups/show copies. I'm trying to get more information to help me effectively prevent this problem from reoccurring in the future. How I can tell that the drive is getting full: In the event viewer under Windows Logs Application, I'm seeing Event ID 517 but it fails to show an intelligible description. However, under Applications and Services Logs Microsoft Windows Backup Operational, I'm seeing an event with the ID of 5 and a description like this: Backup started at '10/4/2011 12:30:12 PM' failed with following error code '2147942512'. One of the most informative posts I've found on this error is located on Microsoft's Technet Forums here. In that post, a Microsoft representative gives this hazy explanation: auto-delete feature to ensure that at least some old backup copies are maintained on the disk -- does not automatically delete backups if space utilization by older copies is less than 1/8 of the disk size or in other words, 13% of the disk size. that means if the one full backup copy does not fit in the 7/8 of the disk size, backup may fail with disk full error. auto-delete will not automatically delete older versions to reclaim more older versions of backup. In the above explanation, I do not understand what is meant by "older copies" except that it appears that anything older than the very last shadow copy would be considered "older copies". I'm going to make the assumption that this problem where auto-delete will not work will affect any hard drive that is large enough to make an effective backup drive, or in other words, any hard drive that is large enough to hold more than one backup/shadow copy at once. The same MS representative proposes the solution of using a larger backup drive. I can't understand how this will help. It appears to me it will simply delay the problem until a later date. In order to resolve this problem for now, I did the following: Assign the backup drive a disk letter under disk management. Run the command line with Administrative rights. diskshadow.exe [enter] delete shadows oldest x: [enter] (where X: is the letter you assigned your backup drive) I manually ran the above command some 60 or 80 times to free up about 200 GB of space on my 1 Terrabyte External Hard drive. However, I do not feel this is a satisfactory solution to prevent the problem from happening again in the future. Does anyone have a solution to prevent your Windows Server backup drive from getting full?

Basically, it does like this: I connect to the local wireless network (netgear router) It works, briefly, allowing me to browse a webpage or maybe two, if I'm lucky. It then stops working / sending any packets, whilst reported still connected. Other symptoms I've noticed are that wireshark freezes when I capture on the "broken" interface until I disconnect. Am using networkmanager as per normal. Stupidly, I can connect to the same router via eth0/a cat6 cable just fine. Everyone else can connect to the AP fine (from Windows). Yes, I'm sat right next to it and not trying to access a hotspot the other side of the world. Any ideas? Is this a broken update? (I intend to reboot and test an older kernel later)? Anyone else come across this? Edit: iwconfig wlan0 rate auto is the settings I'm using for rates. Also, according to networkmanager the network is still connected. Thanks for any pointers / advice.

• Macbook Pro - Randomly sleeps and won't wake up

  All, I have a Macbook Pro 13" (mid 2009) that has had a long time issues which seems to be getting worse. Occasionally, I will go to wake the computer with the keyboard and can't wake it. The HDD spins up, the light on the front of the computer stops blinking, but as soon as it seems like the display should light up, the HDD stops and the light begins blinking again. More rarely, the computer will suddenly sleep while I am using it and then enters the same sleep loop. The only way to resume working on the computer is to wait. Doing a hard restart just puts it right back into the 'sleep loop.'
