  • why retain of delegate is wrong what are all alternatives...?

    Hi, I have one problem let assume A and B are 2 view controller from A user push to B view controller,In B user starts some download by creating object C(which is NSObject class) and sets B as delegate to C(assign),now user want go back to A then dealloc of B calls object releases, C delegate fails to give call back(crashes).I want to get call and allow user to move to other view controller thats way i am retain the delegate in C class but retain of delegate is wrong ... what are all solutions ...   • Which web crawler to use to save news articles from a website into .txt files?

    Hi, i am currently in dire need of news articles to test a LSI implementation (it's in a foreign language, so there isnt the usual packs of files ready to use). So i need a crawler that given a starting url, let's say http://news.bbc.co.uk/ follows all the contained links and saves their content into .txt files, if we could specify the format to be UTF8 i would be in heaven. I have 0 expertise in this area, so i beg you for some sugestions in which crawler to use for this task.

    Let's say I managed to get the dictionary opened for iTunes in the Applescript editor: How would I access the "search" commands using Python with pyobjc? I know I get can hold of the iTunes application using: iTunes = SBApplication.applicationWithBundleIdentifier_("com.apple.iTunes") but after I do a dir on it, I don't see the search command in the returned dictionary. Help please!

This causes time and memory problems a you can guess. How do I filter attributes that occur only once or twice (or n times) in 3000 rows. And is it a good idea? Thank you

  • Mandatory Embedded schema field not throwing excepiton when empty in SDL Tridion 2011

    I am pulling back to the basic schema questions in Tridion 2011. I have an embedded schema with three optional fields and I referred this schema in a content schema and marked it as mandatory. When I create a component and save it without entering data to this mandatory field; CME is not throwing any exception and proceeds with saving. Please let me know if there are any patches to resolve this issue. Thanks in advance.

  • ASP.NET MVC 2 AJAX dilemma: Lose Models concept or create unmanageable JavaScript

    Hi, Ok, let's assume we are working with ASP.NET MVC 2 (latest and greatest preview) and we want to create AJAX user interface with jQuery. So what are our real options here? Option 1 - Pass Json from the Controller to the view, and then the view submits Json back to the controller. This means (in the order given): User opens some View (let's say - /Invoices/January) which has to visualize a list of data (e.g. <IEnumerable<X.Y.Z.Models.Invoice>>) Controller retrieves the Model from the repository (assuming we are using repository pattern). Controller creates a new instance of a class which we will serialize to Json. The reasaon we do this, is because the model may not be serializable (circular reference ftl) Controller populates the soon-to-be-serialized class with data Controller serializes the class to Json and passes it the view. User does some change and submits the 'form' The View submits back Json to the controller The Controller now must 'manually' validate the input, because the Json passed does not bind to a Model See, if our View is communicating to the controller via Json, we lose the Model validation, which IMHO is incredible disadvantage. In this case, forget about data annotations and stuff. Option 2 - Ok, the alternative of the first approach is to pass the Models to the Views, which is the default behavior in the template when you start a new project. We pass a strong typed model to the view The view renders the appropriate html and javascript, sticking to the model property names. This is important! The user submits the form. If we stick to the model names, when we .serialize() the form and submit it to the controller it will map to a model. There is no Json mapping. The submitted form directly binds to a strongly typed model, hence, we can use the model validation. E.g. we keep the business logic where it should be. Problem with this approach is, if we refactor some of the Models (change property names, types, etc), the javascript we wrote would become invalid. We will have to manually refactor the scripting and hope we don't miss something. There is no way you can test it either. Ok, the question is - how to write an AJAX front end, which keeps the business logic validation in the model (e.g. controller passes and receives a Model type), but in the same time doesn't screw up the javascript and html when we refactor the model?

  • Performance of looping over an Unboxed array in Haskell

    First of all, it's great. However, I came across a situation where my benchmarks turned up weird results. I am new to Haskell, and this is first time I've gotten my hands dirty with mutable arrays and Monads. The code below is based on this example. I wrote a generic monadic for function that takes numbers and a step function rather than a range (like forM_ does). I compared using my generic for function (Loop A) against embedding an equivalent recursive function (Loop B). Having Loop A is noticeably faster than having Loop B. Weirder, having both Loop A and B together is faster than having Loop B by itself (but slightly slower than Loop A by itself). Some possible explanations I can think of for the discrepancies. Note that these are just guesses: Something I haven't learned yet about how Haskell extracts results from monadic functions. Loop B faults the array in a less cache efficient manner than Loop A. Why? I made a dumb mistake; Loop A and Loop B are actually different. Note that in all 3 cases of having either or both Loop A and Loop B, the program produces the same output. Here is the code.   • Is it poor practice to build an SQL query using WHERE 1=1 AND ...

    I'm writing a script that builds an SQL query by concatenating the string and adding conditions to the WHERE clause as needed. Would it be better practice to use WHERE 1=1 so that the first condition is satisfied and the script can just concatenate an AND x = 'y' to the query, or should I write the extra code to check if a clause has been added and if not, add the AND ? Confusing question, I know. Let me know if I need to be more clear. Rob

    i'm trying to figure out where Windows Error Reports are saved; i hit Send on some earlier today, but i forgot that i want to "view the details" so i can examine the memory minidumps. But i cannot find where they are stored (and google doesn't know). So i want to write a dummy application that will crash, show the WER dialog, let me click "view the details" so i can get to the folder where the dumps are saved. How can i crash on Windows?
