• UpdatePanel not working in IE or Chrome

  I have an updatepanel on my masterpage. Within the contentplace holder I have my update progress control. When a user clicks on the button I load some data into a gridview. This works perfectly in FireFox. User clicks the button, the loading image in my updateprogress fires and loads the gridview. When I test this in IE 6 or 7 or in Chrome. It does a full postback and the updateprogress is never shown. So the updatepanel doesnt seem to be working in these two browsers. Code is below.   Hi, I've been googleing and searching here info about this but so far couldn't find anything relevant to my problem. We have a website currently working on II6 and Windows Server 2003 (x86) without any problem. Now we want to migrate our server to a Virtual Machine with Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64) and IIS7. Out current app is built in Classic ASP and SQL Server (This one located on a 2nd Server but this is staying the way it is now). The website is configured as a WebSite, not a virtual directory. Using DefaultAppPool with 4 applications. • C# Working with Locking and Threads

  Work on this small test application to learn threading/locking. I have the following code, I would think that the line should only write to console once. However it doesn't seem to be working as expected. Any thoughts on why? What I'm trying to do is add this Lot object to a List, then if any other threads try and hit that list, it would block. • jQuery UI Datepicker and Google Chrome not working

  Hi, I'm having some problems with jQueryUI Datepicker and Google Chrome. My datepicker is working as expected with IE8, Firefox and Safari. The problem is when clicking the datepicker connected textbox in Chrome. It gives me a crash page, "Oops, an error occurred...". On my page there's textbox with a datepicker. The datepicker is language dependent and it loads the correct language settings dynamically. The datepicker should also display the month and year dropdowns. The code is as follows $(function() {$.datepicker.setDefaults($.extend({ changeMonth: true, changeYear: true }, $.datepicker.regional['']));$('#<%= TextBoxBirthDate.ClientID %').datepicker($.datepicker.regional[$('#LabelRegionalSettings').val()]);}); If I only extend the datepicker with one option, i.e. changeYear, it works in Chrome. But if I add another option, i.e. changeMonth, the 'crash' in Chrome occurs. Is my code incorrect? If so, how do I fix it? Any help is greatly appreciated!

• Debugging a working program on Mathematica 5 with Mathematica 7

  Hi everybody, I'm currently reading the Mathematica Guidebooks for Programming and I was trying to work out one of the very first program of the book. Basically, when I run the following program: Plot3D[{Re[Exp[1/(x + I y)]]}, {x, -0.02, 0.022}, {y, -0.04, 0.042}, PlotRange -> {-1, 8}, PlotPoints -> 120, Mesh -> False, ColorFunction -> Function[{x1, x2, x3}, Hue[Arg[Exp[1/(x1 + I x2)]]]]] either I get a 1/0 error and e^\infinity error or, if I lower the PlotPoints options to, say, 60, an overflow error. I have a working output though, but it's not what it's supposed to be. The hue seems to be diffusing off the left corner whereas it should be diffusing of the origin (as can be seen on the original output) Here is the original program which apparently runs on Mathematica 5 (Trott, Mathematica Guidebook for Programming): Off[Plot3D::gval]; Plot3D[{Re[Exp[1/(x + I y)]], Hue[Arg[Exp[1/(x + I y)]]]}, {x, -0.02, 0.022}, {y, -0.04, 0.042}, PlotRange -> {-1, 8}, PlotPoints -> 120, Mesh -> False] Off[Plot3D::gval]; However, ColorFunction used this way (first Plot3D argument) doesn't work and so I tried to simply adapt to its new way of using it.   Hey, I have a page going here that uses jQuery: http://treethink.com/services What I am trying to do is, if a slide or sub-page is shown in there, change the background colour and colour of the button. To do this I tried saying, if a certain div is shown, the background colour of a certain button changes. However, you can see there that it isn't working properly, it is changing the colour for the web one but not removing the colour change and adding a colour change on a different button when you change pages. • DHTML with Javascript and CSS is not working

  So for some reason this unobtrusive javascript code is not working and I can't figure out for the life of me why it won't work. I dynamically change the className of a div element and therefore I expect the CSS to reflect that change. However it doesn't. • ASPX FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage function is not working anymore

  Here is my issue. I have an ASPX web site and I have code in there to redirect from the login page with the call to "FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage(username, false);" This sends the user from the root website folder to 'website/Admin/'. I have a 'default.aspx' page in 'website/Admin/' and the call to redirect works on a previous version of the website we have running currently, but the one that I am updating on a separate test server is not working. It gives me the error "Directory Listing Denied. This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed." I have this in the config file: <authorization> <allow users="*" /> </authorization> under the "authentication" option and... <location path="Admin"> <system.web> <authorization> <deny users="?" /> </authorization> </system.web> </location> for the location of Admin. Also, there is no difference in the code between the web.config, Login.aspx, or the default.aspx files on the current server and the one on the test server, so I am confused as to why the redirect will not work on both. It even works in the Visual Studio server environment, for which the code is also identical. Any suggestions and help is appreciated.

• Solutions for working with multiple branches in ASP.Net

  At work, we are often working on multiple branches of our product at one time. For example, right now, we have a maintenance branch, a branch with code just going to QA, and a branch for a new major initiative, that won't be merged for some time now. Our web project is set up to use IIS, so every time we switch to a different branch, we have to go in to IIS Admin and change the path on the virtual directory, then reset IIS, and sometimes even restart Visual Studio, to avoid getting build errors. Is there any way to simplify this, other than not having our web project set up as a virtual directory? I'm not sure we want to make that change at this point. What do you do to make this easier, assuming you do this? Corey @RedWolves, virtual machines would definitely work, but I'm not sure it would be any simpler, especially for some of the other developers on my team, which is partly why I'm looking for more simplicity. @Dan, we're not able to change source control providers, unfortunately. @pix0r, that's something I'll try when I get back to work. Thanks for the suggestion. @Haacked, I'll have to give that a try too, but I think we have some issues with why that won't work (I can't remember exactly why right now; this application was originally written in .Net 1.1, pre-Cassini, and I can't remember if we tried it when we upgraded to 2.0 or not).   Hello, I'm currently having an issue with my open result set not working how I believe it should. The only function that is currently working is the next() method, nothing else will work. If the project is placed into a debug mode you can follow through actionperformed event on the button it hits the previous() method and jumps over the remaining code in the method. • jQuery AJAX call not working in Webkit

  I've run into a strange issue with Webkit based browsers (both Safari and Chrome - I'm testing on a Mac) and I am not sure what is causing it. What I am trying to accomplish is: submit the form call another script to get status on the file being uploaded via the form (it's for a small upload progress meter). • Any Red5 Working Example Project for 0.9 release

  I'm trying to find 1, just 1, working sample project for Red5 that's updated to work against the latest 0.9 release without missing jars and other nonsense. Right now, it's at v0.9 and the libs are different from other versions. They have 5 pathetic examples on their website, but all were built with the older versions, and who knows which version since they don't seem to be putting any effort into updating or marketing their open source project. For these 5 old examples, I could use the Add External JARS feature to try and add libs from previous versions, they don't mention which versions they were built against and I'm not going to try each previous version to see which works (I already did and nothing works). P.S. Voted the worst documented project on the planet. It's hilarious, one of their developers posted a few videos on youtube, without bothering to attach a sample zip for the get-started project he's demoing. No offense, but that's seriously #(#$$#($!@#*. Not a good start for any tech decision maker to assess a technology for commercial use. Anyone who's more intelligent and can shed some light on behalf of these fools?

  Work on this small test application to learn threading/locking. I have the following code, I would think that the line should only write to console once. However it doesn't seem to be working as expected. Any thoughts on why? What I'm trying to do is add this Lot object to a List, then if any other threads try and hit that list, it would block. • drupal_add_css not working

  Hiya, I need to use drupal_add_css to call stylesheets onto single D6 pages. I don't want to edit the main theme stylesheet as there will be a set of individual pages which all need completely new styles - the main sheet would be massive if i put it all in there. My solution was to edit the page in PHP editor mode and do this: <?php drupal_add_css("/styles/file1.css", "theme"); ?> <div id="newPageContent">stuff here in html</div> But when i view source, there is nothing there! Not even a broken css link or anything, it's just refusing to add the css sheet to the css package put into the page head. • Intern working for Indian NGO - Help with PHP 4, advising staff

  Hello, For the past three months I've been working for an Indian NGO (http://sevamandir.org), doing some volunteer work in the field but also trying to improve their website, which needs a ton of work. Recently I've been trying to fix the "subscribe to newsletter" button, which is broken. I used filter_var to filter the email input, but when I tried to test this out I got an error. Then I learned that the web host is still using php version 4.3.2 and register_globals is turned on. I've mentioned that they should upgrade their web host before (they are paying around $50 per year for Rediff Web Hosting, complete with 100MB storage and 1 MySQL database). That would add a lot of complexity for the IT staff of 3, who would have to update everyone's email information (I assume? this is a 250-person organization), and have me find a new web host and teach them about it. The staff isn't that sophisticated about web usage - the head guy still uses IE6, and the website's laid out in tables (they use Dreamweaver WYSIWYG to lay out pages). So I've got two options - use regular expressions to filter the email, which I'm not that skilled at doing (and would be more vulnerable to exploitation after I leave), turn off register globals and then try to teach the staff what I'm doing, or try to get them to upgrade their versions of PHP and MySQL and/or change web host. • Thumbnail Provider not working

  I'm trying to write a Windows Explorer thumbnail handler for our custom file type. I've got this working fine for the preview pane, but am having trouble getting it to work for the thumbnails. Windows doesn't even seem to be trying to call the DllGetClassObject entry point. Before I continue, note that I'm using Windows 7 and unmanaged C++. I've registered the following values in the registry: HKCR\CLSID\<my guid> HKCR\CLSID\<my guid>\InprocServer32 (default value being path to my DLL) HKCR\CLSID\<my guid>\InprocServer32\ThreadingModel (value = "Apartment") HKCR\.<my ext>\shellex\{E357FCCD-A995-4576-B01F-234630154E96} (value = my guid) I've also tried using the Win SDK sample, and that doesn't work. And also the sample project in this article (http://www.codemonkeycodes.com/2010/01/11/ithumbnailprovider-re-visited/), and that doesn't work. I'm new to shell programming, so not really sure the best way of debugging this. I've tried attaching the debugger to explorer.exe, but that doesn't seem to work (breakpoints get disabled, and none of my OutputDebugStrings get displayed in the output window). Note that I tried setting the "DesktopProcess" in the registry as described in the WinSDK docs for debugging the shell, but I'm still only seeing one explorer.exe in the task manager - so that "may" be why I can't debug it?? • Kohana 3 jQuery/AJAX request not working

  I am trying to post some data to a controller in Kohana 3 using the jQuery AJAX method. I seem to have an issue with the data not getting to where I want it to be. I want the data to go to the /application/classes/controller/stock.php file where the file will process the data. I can't seem to figure this one out. Hopefully someone can help. My jQuery ajax call is: $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'add_stock', data: { 'links': 'link_array' } }); 'add_stock' is the name of the action within the controller. I didn't know what else to try. I've also tried '.' and './' hoping that would be right but it's not. In Firebug, although it says the request was 200 OK, I see that the "RESPONSE" is "Failed to load source for: http://localhost/ddm/v2/stocks/add_stock" and my script in my controller which grabs the data isn't working. Here is that code in case it helps: $links = $_POST['links']; $link_obj = Jelly::factory('link') ->set('stock', $stock->id) ->set('links', $links); $link_obj->save(); I think that the problem is that I'm giving the ajax call the ROUTE and not the actual page it needs to deliver the POST data to. I just can't figure it out here. Any help?
