• Make an element visible to the user but invisible to events

  I'm not quite sure how to describe what I'm looking to do, but I'll do my best. At the moment I have a parent <div>, with absolutely positioned child <div>s within it, and I'm tracking the mouse pointer location coordinates relative to the element your mouse is over. At the moment, when I mouse over my child <div>s, I get the mouse location relative to them, but I want the coordinates to be relative the the parent <div> even when mousing over the child elements. So I basically want the child elements to be visible, but transparent to the mousemove, so I want the mousemove to go straight through to the parent element. How would I do this? Do I maybe need to somehow make the parent <div> be in the forground but still have the child <div>s show through? or make a transparent <div> overlay just to get the mouse coordinates?   I am writing a simple win forms app in C#. There is a method call in my method which loads files but is taking a while to respond. Below is the method call Directory.GetFiles(selectedFolder, "*.xml", SearchOption.AllDirectories); I want to notify this to users. Is there a way to show them that file loading is in progress? I want a simplest way. I suppose Splash screen is too costly for my app.

• Best Practice: User generated HTML cleaning

  I'm coding a WYSIWYG editor width designMode="on" on a iframe. The editor works fine and i store the code as is in the database. Before outputing the html i need to "clean" with php on the server-side to avoid cross-site-scripting and other scary things. Is there some sort of best practice on how to do this? Basically I need a really clean, light-weight method for switching out different divs without reloading the page.   I'm programming a Minesweeper clone in Visual Studio 2010, with VB.NET, as a Windows Form Application, and I'm having trouble with the Game Won and Game Lost forms. When I show those forms, I want the game form to still be visible, so that the player can see where the mines were, but I don't want the game form to be enabled until the Game Won or Game Lost form is closed. Exactly like Windows Minesweeper does when you win or lose. There aren't any obvious properties for this, as far as I can see, and I've had no luck Googling, I don't know what terms to search. • eclipse wont include/identify user .h files and .o files

  i'm new to eclipse CDT, and try to use an existing .o file that was supplied with the proper .h file. eclipse just wont include it in the compilation process. i tryed drag&drop to the eclipse project browser, and the files did show there, but no use, still "No such file: No such file or directory". i tryed defining the .o file in the: project properties tool settings MinGW C Linker Miscellaneous other objects. didn't work either. as for the header file, i did try a workaround: created a new file in the project and named it after the file i want to include as header, then copied the content. and yet, the compiler/linker didn't recognize the object file. perhaps you can help?thank you

• "Intercepting" user input into text box and removing it

  I have a text box that I would like to do some validation on. I would like to stop that from happening. I know it will have something to do with $("#like").val() but the only thing I can think of is just chopping off the end character from the text box value, would this suffice? Thanks for any help!

Our prof made us create a static library which i built using debug version. then i made a release version of that static library using /mt as my c runtime now in my test application (release version) I use the same runtime option and add that static library and also ignore the libcmd.lib in the ignore settings for the linker. i resolved most of the problem this is the last part lnk4075 /edit and continue due to /opt:icf specification compositelib.lib (my staticlib) lnk2001 unresolved external symbol _winmain@16. libcmtd.lib these are the last two that i can't seem to figure out.

  I want to be able to present "today" and "yesterday" for recent dates in my application. I've got a date formatter in use currently to show dates (retrieved from data records) and will keep using this for anything more than a couple of days old. I just really like the way the SMS app in the iPhone shows dates for recent messages and would like to emulate this. The time-stamps that I have to work with are generated on a server that the phone downloads the data records from. All times are therefore generated at UTC (i.e. GMT) time. I've been fiddling about with this for a while the solutions I've devised just seem horribly long-winded. Can anyone suggest how to implement a method that could do this? Cheers - Steve.
