  • Detect use of older Java libraries

    Is there a third party library to detect the use of a Java 1.5 library when compiling with a 1.5 compiler with -source 1.4 and -target 1.4? I could use a 1.4 rt.jar in the bootclasspath however I hope there is a better way. To be used, for example, to fail the compile/build if a newer library is used.

  • java classcast exception

    hi i have problems in converting an XML document type into a Document object.. this is the piece of code line 1 : Document doc=null; line 2 : doc = (Document) parser.parse(sourceFile); for this line 2 it throws java classcast exception.. without the typecast it shows error as "Type mismatch: cannot convert from org.w3c.dom.Document to javax.swing.text.Document" how do i now typecast properly? any suggestions??

    Hi, Sorry, I'm quite new to Java. I've stumbled across HttpGet and HttpPost which seem to be perfect for my needs, but a little long winded. I have written a rather bad wrapper class, but does anyone know of where to get a better one? Ideally, I'd be able to do String response = fetchContent("http://url/", postdata); where postdata is optional. Thanks!

    In Java I'm trying to test for a null value, from a ResultSet, where the column is being cast to a primitive int type. int iVal; ResultSet rs = magicallyAppearingStmt.executeQuery(query); if (rs.next()) { if (rs.getObject("ID_PARENT") != null && !rs.wasNull()) { iVal = rs.getInt("ID_PARENT"); } } From the code fragment above, is there a better way to do this, and I assume that the second wasNull() test is redundant?     I'm new to java and i'm trying to find a way of incrementing through an user input IP address range. For example from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.255. However the way my application works at the moment is the take the from and to ip addresses as a String. Is there a way I can increment through all the ip addresses the user input from and to? Hope this makes sense and please dont flame me, I have looked for an answer!
