  What characters are allowed in linux environment variable names? My cursory search of man pages and the web did only produce information about how to work with variables, but not which names are allowed. I have a Java program that requires an defined environment variable containing a dot, like com.example.fancyproperty. With Windows I can set that variable, but I had no luck setting it in linux (tried in SuSE and Ubuntu). Is that variable name even allowed?

• Drupal: Can Book layout menu be added and expanded in the primary menu?

  I'd like to take a book menu and just add it right to the primary links. Any way to do that? It can appear alreayd in the Navigation links but I'd like it to expand to deeper child levels. Also, I'm using a theme (Newswire) that creates a suckerfish menu from the primary links, so if I can automatically add my book pages to the primary links that would be ideal... Sample Book Layout

  I'm trying to create some pages in my Windows Phone application without the use of any XAML. Everything is working, however, I'm failing to use NavigationService/ Journal with this approach and all my attempts to utilize it are answered by the usual "No XAML was found at the location {0}'" response. Yes, I can add an almost empty XAML file to get everything working, but is this kind of boiler plate code really necessary? Is it maybe possible to use the UriMapping to map certain Uris to specific classes instead of *.xaml files?

  Hi all, I'm studying how to use caching in Heroku for my Rails app. HTTP cache powered by Varnish is superb and I'll use it in all pages without user info but I also want to use a kind of ActiveRecord caching with Memcached using "high livel" plugins such as cache_fu or cache-money...but it seems that Heroku supports only the memcached gem (http://docs.heroku.com/memcache) and it's a very low level Memcachad API...   So I have PODS installed on my wordpress site that I am developing. I need to put up a user registration system such that once the user registers, he/she can be directed to POD pages that I have created. Can I just use the default registration system that comes with wordpress and redirect users based on a default role I assign to them?   My application users asked if it were possible for pages that contain a jqGrid to remember the filter, sort order and current page of the grid (because when they click a grid item to carry out a task and then go back to it they'd like it to be "as they left it") Cookies seem to be the way forward, but how to get the page to load these and set them in the grid before it makes its first data request is a little beyond me at this stage.
