I think about threads which can help to cal WCF service asynchronously. But I have very little experience with it.     On Windows XP, you could go to Folder Options - File Types, select PNG, create a new action, such as this Action: Crush Application: "F:\Programs\PNGCrush\crush.bat" "%1" So you can right click on a .png file and select Crush. How do you do this on Windows 7? I assume through regedit or .reg file, but how? EDIT: Thank you for all your replies... but I'd like to avoid "Open With" or 3rd party program if possible.

    I am making a software as a service using Spring 3.0 (Spring MVC, Spring Security, Spring Roo, Hibernate) I have to come up with a flexible access control list mechanism.I have three different kinds of users System (who can do any thing to the system, includes admin and internal daemons) Operations (who can add and delete users, organizations, and do maintenance work on behalf of users and organizations) End Users (they belong to one or more organization, for each organization, the user can have one or more roles, like being organization admin, or organization read-only member) (role like orgadmin can also add users for that organization) Now my question is, how should i model the entity of User? If I just take the End User, it can belong to one or more organizations, so each user can contain a set of references to its organizations. But how do we model the users role for each organization, So for example User UX belongs to organizations og1, og2 and og3, and for og1 he is both orgadmin, and org-read-only-user, where as for og2 he is only orgadmin and for og3 he is only org-read-only-user I have the possibility of making each user belong to one organization alone, but that's making the system bounded and I don't like that idea (although i would still satisfy the requirement) If you have a better extensible ACL architecture, please suggest it. Since its a software as a service, one would expect that alot of different organizations would be part if the same system. I had one concern that it is not a good idea to keep og1 and og2 data on the same DB (if og1 decides to spawn a 100 reports on the system, og2 should not suffer) But that is some thing advanced for now and is not directly related to ACL but to the physical distribution of data and setup of services based on those ACLs This is a community Wiki question, please correct any thing which you wish to do so. Trace complete. I'm doing all this via RDP and already tried changing the metric on the persistent rule with devastating consequences!   • Ubuntu VM Guest - Samba Service Not Accessible from VM Host via Hostname

    I have a Windows 7 Workstation with a Ubuntu 10.10 VM running in Virtual Box 3.2.12 r68302. I recently updated Samba and winbind, and since the update, I am unable to access the machine via it's hostname (\mystique) from the VM Host. I can access it by the "Host-only" IP (\192.168.56.101) and the DHCP Assigned IP address (\10.1.1.20) and I can connect to the webserver on the machine via it's hostname (http://mystique/). As stated, accessing this machine via it's hostname worked fine prior to the update, but has since stopped working. I have added the hostname to the smb.conf for the netbios name, to no avail.   • How to add in in appendix page numbers separately from the regular heading page numbers

    I had regular page numbers on my Microsoft Word 2007 document at the bottom center of my page, starting from 1 from Insert tab Page Number Bottom of page Plain Number 2. I added an appendix with Heading 6 and followed the instructions from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290953 to create separate page numbers just for the appendix, i.e. A-1, A-2, B-1, B-2, etc. The Page Number Format configuration I did is here: ]When I try to set this however, it changes all of the page numbers to this format, even the ones that aren't from heading 6 (meaning it changes the non-appendix content to this page number format). Here's another example: 1 Heading1 has page number A-4 (note it starts at A-1 at the title page) ... Appendix A has page number A-12 I would like to change it so that 1 Heading1 has page number 4 (note it starts at 1 at the title page) ... Appendix A has page number A-1 Anyone know why this is happening? Thank you!!

  • Authenticating Active Directory Users to Mac OS X Mavericks Server L2TP VPN Service

    We have a Windows Server 2012 Active Directory Infrastructure that consists of two domain controllers. Bound to the Active Directory Domain is a Mac OS X Mavericks Server 10.9.3. The server runs Profile Manager and VPN Services. My Active Directory users are able to authenticate to the Profile Manager, but not the VPN. I have found several threads on other forums of other users reporting similar issues, here is just one of many references: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5174619 It appears as though the issue is related to a CHAP authentication failure. Can anyone suggest what next troubleshooting steps I might take? Is there a way to liberalize the authentication mechanism to include MSCHAP? Here is an excerpt of the transaction from the logs.     I've recently upgraded my computer from Vista Home Premium 64-bit to Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I've re-installed VS 2008 web express, and re-installed all the silver light sdk's, tools, etc. But now when I want to add a Silverlight Navigation Page, it is not avialble to me in the list of items that can be added. The navigation dll is installed, as my project existed before the OS upgrade. The program still runs just fine as is, but I want to add another navigation page item to the project, and I'm stumped for how to do it. Any ideas? Thanks, Steve

I know we can create each folders/subfolders manually and add each file, but any quick way to do this on visual studio 2005? Updated: Thank you for the reply, but I do not want the folders to be added under any project, It should appear as a separate node inside my solution, like any other project. In this case the show all files does not work, since the solution itself does not have any folder, it is only if we select any project it works. I know we can create each folders/subfolders manually and add each file, but any quick way, because there are few hundreds of files.

    I picked up an ASUS EEE 1101HA with Windows 7 and installed UBUNTU 10.04 Netbook Remix (dual boot). Ubuntu runs fine, but it doesn't recognize that the notebook LCD is 1388x768 and thus only offers 1024x768 and 800x600 as monitor resolution. So .. how can I tell it about that higher resolution? (Have root pwd & vi, una-bash-ed to use both.. ) UPDATE there is currently (early May 2010) no video-driver for the Intel GMA500 "Poulsbo" => no solution exists for now.

  • Printing a PDF in .NET

    It's the "printing question guy" again. Looking for a third-party solution to print PDFs, preferable from a service. I have seen some arguments against it, but due to our use case, this really is the preferred solution - the service will be receiving messages from a messaging bus, and there shouldn't be any sort of delay between the receipt of that message and the printing of the report. So far, I've found 1 solution from PDF Tools that seems very nice, and very flexible. The problem is that it's licensed per server. If anyone knows of any third-party solutions that have a seat license (per developer, unlimited runtime distribution), that would be much preferred. EDIT: Clarification, by printing, I mean sending the PDF to a printer.
