Porting WebGL game to iPhone's native OpenGL?

We are developing a web game that uses WebGL for the two biggest parts of it. Working with HTML / CSS was too slow and too limited, so it's off the table. Thing is, iOS does not support WebGL publicly just yet, only on iAd. It is my guess Apple will eventually support it once the security issues they and Microsoft claim it has are fixed, and looks stable enough. Problem is, if Apple does not do this by the release of the next mayor iOS version, then we will have in our hands a mobile WebGL game that does not run. 6 months of development and testing to waste. So, questions: If that was the case, how viable (regarding amount of time) is it porting the WebGL part of the game to native iPhone OpenGL? I'm afraid that porting will take longer than the development of the game itself. I saw posts on Stack Overflow (like this) that suggested, on Android, adding the OpenGL interface manually to a WebKit element. It'd be slower than native. But either way... Is this something that could be accepted in the AppStore? Apple is very restrictive with these kind of stuff... Thank you all for your time!

Basically, each value in the array needs to be placed underneath the one above, but it must be based on this same structure of 3 columns, and also an equal amount of fruits per column/row (unless there was like 7 fruits there would be 3 in one column and 2 in the other columns. What features do you miss most when switching from IntelliJ to XCode ?

Hi, I've started to use XCode several months ago, after using IntelliJ for several years, and there are quite a few features that I really miss. XCode is not that bad, but it is lacking some basic stuff. To trigger the discussion, here are some of the features that I miss most, who knows maybe someone from Apple will bump into this post and steal some Ideas :) Source-level error-highlighting. The write-compile-fix cycle feels like going back in time 15 years ago to my early C days. Many errors can be spotted without having to compile and Java IDEs have been doing it for years. A decent debugger. This is a bit unfair because IntelliJ's debugger is the best I've used so far, but XCode's debugger is at least 5 years behind and Apple has a few more developers than JetBrains... Stronger re-factoring. A no-brainer I guess. XCode has some renaming capabilities (which they call re-factoring), but they are very few. Override method. This one is really amazing. XCode doesn't have an "override method" command which lets you choose the method you want to override from a super class or protocol. You need to go to the documentation or header file and start copy-pasting. Duplicate selected line(s). I've bumped into some posts that offer workarounds for this via custom key-binding, but none of them works, at least for me. Go to last edit point. Bummer! Come on Apple, this one is so easy to implement and so useful! A better open quickly feature. IntelliJ's quick find of classes/files/text is so much better... Turns out that my list goes on and on, so I'll stop here... What other features do you miss most in your transition to XCode?? Ori

Blackberry Keyboard Lock timeout

I want this blackberry 9700 to "fully lock" as soon as I click the icon for the "Keyboard Lock" application. Currently I have to wait 5 to 7 seconds for the screen to go dark after each time I click the "Keyboard Lock" icon. During that time if something touches the touch pad, then the 5-7 second timer resets and you have to wait another 5 to 7 seconds for the screen to go dark and "fully lock" After it finally goes dark, touching the touch pad does not reset the timer. At that point it is "fully locked" and requires a key to be pressed. How can I get it to "fully lock" as soon as the lock icon is clicked? I want the screen to go dark immediately, and for it to require a key press to request an unlock. I have tried Options - Screen/Keyboard - Backlight Timeout ... etc ... none of that reduces the timeout for the "Keyboard Lock" application. And there does not seem to be an option screen for the "Keyboard Lock" application, that I can find. NOTE: This is occurring with BlackBerry 9700 v5.0.0.330 (Platform 5.1.0.91)

IBM Worklight v6.1.0.1 : Error when using Ionic Framework with Worklight and run on IOS environment

I have created demo app using Ionic with Worklight and it worked on Android but got error on IOS, when i used mobile browser simulator and debugged on IOS environment, i got the folowing error message: Uncaught InvalidCharacterError: Failed to execute 'add' on 'DOMTokenList': The token provided ('platform-ios - iphone') contains HTML space characters, which are not valid in tokens. Combine Search Bar and URL Bar into One (WebView)

So I'm in the midst of updating my Web Browser app for iOS devices, from the ground up, and I'm trying to implement some more convenient features. One feature that seems to be really popular now, that I have been getting a lot of requests for, is the combination of a Google Search bar and a URL bar in one, like that of the Chrome application. Below is a screenshot of the Google Chrome app, and as you can see, they've made it so you can either enter in a search query like "apple ipad" and it will return a Google search page of 'Apple iPad', or you can enter in a URL "http://apple.com/ipad/" and it will load that URL. I have looked all over the internet, but all I could find were tutorials on how to Search Google with value of the UITextField. I have a feeling that the best way to do this is to probably make a 'check'. Like if the entered value contains 'http://' 'www.' '.com' or no spaces, then load it as a URL, if not then load it in a Google Search page, and then have the webview load up the Google Search page. If anybody could show me to the right direction, that would be great, or even supplying me with some code would be even greater. :) Thanks! If anyone needs part of the code, just ask.

Updating Android Tab Icons

I have an activity which has a TabHost containing a set of TabSpecs each with a listview containing the items to be displayed by the tab. When each TabSpec is created, I set an icon to be displayed in the tab header. The TabSpecs are created in this way within a setupTabs() method which loops to create the appropriate number of tabs: TabSpec ts = mTabs.newTabSpec("tab"); ts.setIndicator("TabTitle", iconResource); ts.setContent(new TabHost.TabContentFactory( { public View createTabContent(String tag) { ... } }); mTabs.addTab(ts); There are a couple instances where I want to be able to change the icon which is displayed in each tab during the execution of my program. Currently I am deleting all the tabs, and calling the above code again to re-create them. mTabs.getTabWidget().removeAllViews(); mTabs.clearAllTabs(true); setupTabs(); Is there a way to replace the icon that is being displayed without deleting and re-creating all of the tabs?

Font Awesome Not Working In Chrome

So I'm trying to prototype a marketing page and I'm using bootstrap and the new font awesome file. The problem is when I try to use an icon all that gets rendered on the page in a big square. Here's how I include the files in the head: <head> <title> </title> <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/bootstrap.css"> <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/bootstrap-responsive.css"> <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/font-awesome.css"> <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/app.css">  </head> And here's an example of me trying to use an icon: <i class="icon-camera-retro"></i> But all that gets rendered in a big square. Does anyone know what could be going on?

open Fancybox in tabs

Hello all. I am using PHP + jQuery + Fancybox in my project. I have multiple tabs that get created dynamically. I have got a star icon on every tab header and on clicking them I want to open a fancybox. My tabs are basically ul-li with following dynamic code. $("#tabs").append("<li class='current'><a class='tab' id='tab_" + tabCnt + "<a href='#loginBox_div' class='login_link'> <img src='star.png' style='cursor:pointer'/> </a>" + "<a href='javascript:void(0);' class='remove'>x</a></li>"); in my index file : $(document).ready(function() { $("a.login_link").fancybox({ 'titlePosition' : 'inside', 'transitionIn' : 'none', 'transitionOut' : 'none' }); }); The problem is that when I click on star icon of first tab, the loginBox_div (fancybox) opens properly. But when my second tab is created and when I click on its star icon, the fancybox is not opening although the class is applied in second and successive tabs. No javascript errors too. Please show me the way. Thank you.

Apples, oranges, and pointers to the most derived c++ class

Suppose I have a bunch of fruit: class Fruit { ... }; class Apple : public Fruit { ... }; class Orange: public Fruit { ... }; And some polymorphic functions that operate on said fruit: void Eat(Fruit* f, Pesticide* p) { } void Eat(Apple* f, Pesticide* p) { ingest(f,p); } void Eat(Orange* f, Pesticide* p) { peel(f,p); ingest(f,p); } OK, wait. Stop right there. Note at this point that any sane person would make Eat() a virtual member function of the Fruit classes. But that's not an option, because I am not a sane person. Also, I don't want that Pesticide* in the header file for my fruit class. Sadly, what I want to be able to do next is exactly what member functions and dynamic binding allow: typedef list<Fruit*> Fruits; Fruits fs; ... for(Fruits::iterator i=fs.begin(), e=fs.end(); i!=e; ++i) Eat(*i); And obviously, the problem here is that the pointer we pass to Eat() will be a Fruit*, not an Apple* or an Orange*, therefore nothing will get eaten and we will all be very hungry. So what I really want to be able to do instead of this: Eat(*i); is this: Eat(MAGIC_CAST_TO_MOST_DERIVED_CLASS(*i)); But to my limited knowledge, such magic does not exist, except possibly in the form of a big nasty if-statement full of calls to dynamic_cast. So is there some run-time magic of which I am not aware? Or should I implement and maintain a big nasty if-statement full of dynamic_casts? Or should I suck it up, quit thinking about how I would implement this in Ruby, and allow a little Pesticide to make its way into my fruit header?

Chrome renders button links completely screwed up when placed inside a paragraph

I am fairly proficient in CSS but now I am running into a very strange rendering issue in Google Chrome 9. I am trying to create some fancy looking link buttons (basically heavily styled anchors). Here is some example markup: <a href="" class="button"> <figure class="sprite icon icon_back"></figure> Link button with icon</a> This markup may look a litte strange to you, there's a few things you should know: I am using HTML5's figure class to include an icon as part of the button. I have the proper reset CSS applied and Chrome can render this tag for sure. Instead of actually pointing to an image I am applying CSS classes to the figure element. Within the CSS I am using the spriting technique to show the correct portion of a single large sprite image. All of this is working fine in Firefox, and actually also in Chrome. The correct rendering can be seen in the following image: It renders like that in both Firefox and Chrome. Here comes the problem, if I place such a button within paragraph tags <p></p> this is what happens in Chrome only: Notice how the button is ripped apart? Only in Chrome and only when placed inside a paragraph. It gets even stranger: this only happens for the first button inside the paragraph, if I would place three buttons inside a paragraph, only the 1st one is screwed up. Your first question would probably be about the CSS. Dynamically writing out li with jquery. Element is not clickable after being written

I have have a a function that when a checkbox is checked i dynamically write out an li into a ol that is empty. Code: $(":checkbox").click(function() { var checkedState = $(this).is(':checked'); if (checkedState == true) { var productName = $(this).attr("title"); $("#selectedProductsList").append("<li class=\"productList " + this + "\"><p class=\"removeIcon\"><img src=\"images/remove-icon.png\" alt=\"Remove Product\" /></p><span class=\"productName\">"+ productName +"</span></li>"); }; }); Then when that writes out there is a remove icon that will remove the item from the ol when clicked. This remove icon has a class of removeIcon which can be seen in the dynamic li above. I have a function that processes the remove call and then does some actions: Code: $('.removeIcon').click(function() { alert("starting"); }); Right now i have the remove action just trying to alert a message that it got called. But it seems that it is not getting into the function. Is there a certain way that i need to access these dynamic li's other then the .click method? I saw this post: Dynamically Inserted DOM Elements are not Clickable using $.click() Where they added .live vs .click but this doesn't seem to work either. Any ideas?

How can I make this simple C# generics factory work?

I have this design: public interface IFactory<T> { T Create(); T CreateWithSensibleDefaults(); } public class AppleFactory : IFactory<Apple> { ... } public class BananaFactory : IFactory<Banana> { ... } // ... The fictitious Apple and Banana here do not necessarily share any common types (other than object, of course). I don't want clients to have to depend on specific factories, so instead, you can just ask a FactoryManager for a new type. It has a FactoryForType method: IFactory<T> FactoryForType<T>(); Now you can invoke the appropriate interface methods with something like FactoryForType<Apple>().Create(). So far, so good. But there's a problem at the implementation level: how do I store this mapping from types to IFactory<T>s? The naive answer is an IDictionary<Type, IFactory<T>>, but that doesn't work since there's no type covariance on the T (I'm using C# 3.5). Am I just stuck with an IDictionary<Type, object> and doing the casting manually?

Dijit.Dialog irregular behaviour of scroll bar making dialog box unusable

I use a dojo dialog box to display a page pulled from another part of the site. The page being pulled is long - so I use the css attribute: `max-height: 900px; overflow:auto; To make sure it displays properly. For a long page, it displays a 900px high dialog box with a scrollbar down the right hand side side. However the scrollbar is going up to the dialog box title and shifting the close box icon to the left. In internet explorer, when a user moves his mouse of the close box icon, it moves to the right. If you move your mouse to the right it moves left - so you can never actually close the box with the icon. I have tried clearing the content in the box and just making it very long, and the same thing still happens. Oddly enough, if I close the window using esc and click pull up the dialog box again, it works fine. Any way I can make it display properly at all times. I am using Dojo version 1.3. Thanks

How can I simplify this user interface?

I'm writing an internal-tools webapp; one of the central pages in this tool has a whole bunch of related commands the user can execute by clicking one of a number of buttons on the page, like this: Ideally, all of the buttons would fit on one line. Ordinarily I'd do this by changing each widget from a button with a (sometimes long) text label to a simple, compact icon - e.g. could be replaced by a familiar disk icon: Unfortunately, I don't think I can do this for every button on this particular page. Some of the command buttons just don't have good visual analogs - "VDS List". Or, if I needed to add another button in the future for some other kind of list, I'd need two icons that both communicate "list-ness" and which list. So, I'm still considering this option, but I don't love it. So it's come time for me to add yet another button to this section (don't you love internal tools?). There's not enough room on that single line to fit the new button. Aside from the icon solution I already mentioned, what would be a good* way to simplify/declutter/reduce or otherwise improve this UI? *As per Jakob Nielsen's article, I'd like to think that a dropdown menu is not the solution.

Flash Builder 4 "includeIn" property causing design view error

I am creating a custom TextInput component that will define an "error" state. I have extended the TextInput class to change the state to "error" if the errorString property's length is greater than 0. In the skin class, I have defined an "error" state, and added some logic to detect the size and position of the error icon. However, if I have this code at the same time I use the "includeIn" property in the bitmap image tag, I get a design view error. If I either A) Only include that code with no "includeIn" property set, it works or B) dont include the code to set the icon size and position and only use the "includeIn" property, it works. Any ideas what could be causing the design view problem when I use both the "includeIn" property and the icon size/position code at the same time? WD MBWE II (White Strip Light) 2TB - unable to access data

I have a WD MBWE II (White Strip Light) 2TB - (WD20000H2NC-00) Was working fine until a few days ago. I guess there was a power failure and after that I am unable to access the 'Public' or the 'Download' folder anymore. I have been searching for answers everywhere but came up empty handed. Web GUI still works, SSH works. I hooked up both the drives on my PC and UFS Explorer sees the drive. But so far I am unable to retrieve any of my data. I do not remember what RAID setting I used when I first got the drive. I can see from GUI that it is set as "Stripe". The drive contains 10 years of family pictures which I really do not want to loose. Sadly and stupidly, I didn't even keep a backup of this drive. Can somebody please help or point me in the right direction. Thank you in advance for your help. Disk Utility on Ubuntu reports 1405 bad sectors on one drive. How can I retrieve my data? Please help. How to delete IPSEC VPN tunnel from Fortigate 60

I have had a IPSEC connection setup between two firewalls. Now I want to remove the tunnel in my firewall, a "Fortigate 60". There are two phases, "Phase 1" and "Phase 2" for each IPSEC connection. I can delete the "Phase 2" entry by clicking the trashcan icon (in the web interface), but there is not such icon for "Phase 1". Is it possible to delete that? When I look at the log it alerts about this tunnel not working (after deleting "Phase 2") and it would be nice not ta have loads of such events in the log. All ideas are appreciated.

Remove hardware from "safely remove hardware" list on Windows 7

Hi, I have a USB wifi card (D-Link DWA-125) on a Windows 7 x64 computer. The problem is that the card appears on the "safely remove hardware" list, but I don't ever want to unplug it, so I would like to remove it from the list. So far I have only found solutions that mess with the registry (and don't really work properly) or that substitute the safely remove hardware with a third-party software. Or worse, hide the icon altogether. Yes, I do need the icon from USB drives and phones. So, is there a "clean" way to remove it from the list? Thanks.
