    Hello, folks. So, I've came across this compilation error a while ago.. As there's an easy fix and I didn't find anything relevant at the time, I eventually let it go. I just remembered it and I'm now wondering if this is really part of the language grammar (which I highly doubt) or if it's a compiler bug.   • DFS Root namespace is RDWR for all users

    We have an existing DFS Replication and Namespace group that we use to serve the company's files. This has been operating fine for us for some time now, and continues to do so. however a situation arose yesterday afternoon that has led us to be stumped. The problem is that we have our name space presented as : \\domain.co.uk\public\[8 or 9 folders that are mapped to the users in the business] We had a problem this morning that meant that a number of users started mapping their AD Home Drive directly to the \\domain.co.uk\public directory and we found that they had read/write. This rapidly became a problem as a at least one director saved some moderately sensitive documents in there and basically anyone could read them. I've tidied up that specific problem with some deft scripting and a slight modification of group policy. However I would like to make \public read only, the trouble is I can't work out where the ACLs for that folder would be held. All the folders that are presented as \\domain.co.uk\public\[folder] are 'real' folders on logical volumes on our DFS servers so are secured with groups that are applied via the 'security' tab. I'd like to do the same on \public but I can't find it. I have looked through amongst other things \Sysvol\domain.co.uk but can't find it and after a lot of clicking and a bit of reading I can't see how to lock it down. Any thoughts?

  • How best to handle end user notification in the event of system failure incl. email?

    I've been asked to research ways of handling end user notifications when systems such as email are experiencing problems. Perhaps an example will make this a little clearer. We have a number of sites in different countries. Recently email was impacted at one of the sites, but it could have been a complete network outage. Information was provided by phone to local IT managers at the site but onward communication was slower than some would have liked. It seems like almost everyone at the site has a personal mobile phone which could receive text messages, and perhaps access a remote website with postings on the situation. However managing and supporting a system to text people on these relatively infrequent occasions would be very costly to do internally. What are other people doing to handle situations like this? Some things I've thought of include: Database of phone numbers to text. Seems costly and not very easy to maintain for an already stretched IT group. Is there an external service that would let you do this policies? Send voicemail message to all phones on site. Maintain an external website. This would not work in all situations (network failure), and there is a limit on the amount of info that can be posted externally. A site outage could be sensitive information in some situations. How could the site be password protected? Maybe OpenId/Facebook connect would work. Use a site like Yammer.com which is publicly accessible but only by people with a company email address. Anyone using this for IT outage notifications? To me it looks like there is no clear answer, and that there are solutions for some subsets of users. To be comprehensive a number of solutions would need to be combined. Any additional thoughts or recommendations? What worked or didn't work for your organization?

  • Maximize application in system tray?

    I wrote a little WPF app that when 'closed' minimizes to the system tray (customer requirement). Double clicking pops it back up, or right click gives a context menu to exit. But if the app is minimized, and the users navigate to Start-All Programs-The Application it starts a new instance. What (in C#) do I need to do to get the app to maximize the running instance if the user does this rather than fire up a new instance? Thanks!

  • Why is FF on OS X loosing jQuery-UI in click event handler?

    In a web page using jQUery 1.7.1 and jQUery-UI 1.8.18, if I output $.ui in an alert box when the document is ready, I get [object Object]. However when using Firefox, if I output $.ui in a click event handler, I get 'undefined' as result. With other browsers (latest versions of IE, Chrome and Safari), the result is still [object Object] when clicking on the link. UPDATE: IF I replace my alerts with simply alert($); I get this result for alert A: function (selector, context) { return new jQuery.fn.init(selector, context, rootjQuery); } and this one for alert B: function (a, b) { return new d.fn.init(a, b, g); } This does not make sense to me, although I may not be understanding well enough what $ is... UPDATE 2: I can only reproduce this problem using Firefox on OS X. On Firefox running on Windows 7, everything is fine.

Don't get me wrong grammers are great for telling the speech recognition exactly what words / phrases to look out for, however what if I want it to recognise something i've not given it a heads up about? Or I want to parse a phrase which is half pre-determined command name and half random words? For example.. Scenario A - I say "Google [Oil Spill]" and I want it to open Google with search results for the term in brackets which could be anything. Scenario B - I say "Locate [Manchester]" and I want it to search for Manchester in Google Maps or anything else non pre-determined I want it to know that 'Google' and 'Locate' are commands and what comes after it are parameters (and could be anything). Question : Does anyone know how to mix the use of pre-determined grammers (words the speech recognition should recognise) and words not in its pre-determined grammer?     Selenium clickAt() function is throwing "Unsupported" exception while using with WebDriver (WebDriverBackedSelenium or just Selenium 2.x using ChromeDriver). Is there any way to use this Selenium function via WebDriver? Adding some code for context ...
