  • Glassfish installation error: cannot open display

    When trying to extract the Glassfish jar file with java -Xmx256m -jar glassfish-installer-v2.1-b60e-linux.jar i get following error: (.:31766): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: and extraction doesn't happen. It somehow assumes i'm on an real machine rather on a SSH shell. How can i solve this?

  • I just restarted Apache and now the server is down

    I am pretty terrified right now. I'm scared I'm going to get a call in a couple minutes from a hundred people saying the website doesn't work. I was at the terminal changing some configuration files when I went to restart the server to update the .conf files with this command: /etc/init.d/apache2 graceful After I ran that, none of the websites work and I have no idea what to do. There are about 100 errors I am getting according to the log files. They all begin with "PHP Notice" and most relate to "use of undefined constant" Also, I just spoke with a coworker, describing what I did, and he noticed that there are two installations of apache on the server and that I restarted the one that we don't use. The problem was (as you experts facepalming probably know) that it couldn't access an error log in the directory I was working in. I created an empty error log file and tried the restart command again and now all the sites are back up... Though my original problem is still there.. Thanks to all those who offered advice, it really helped and let me breathe for a moment.

  • Windows API BackupRead failing with error 50 on Windows Storage Server 2008 R2

    We have a backup application that uses the Windows API BackupRead. It works correctly on Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2008 R2. It does not work on Storage Server 2008 R2. It always fails with error 50 - The request is not supported. The documentation for BackupRead gives no indication that it will not work with Storage Server 2008 R2. Anyone else have any experience using this API on Storage Server 2008 R2?

  • Reporting Services Error 401: Unauthorized

    I am trying to setup reporting services on a SQL server 2008 and get this error message when I try to connect to the http://localhost/reports The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized. I asked the server administrator and the IIS should be running (can't find it under administrative tools though) I used the Reporting Services Configuration manager to setup reporting services and am pretty sure it is setup correct.

  • Set Default 404 error pages across entire instance of IIS

    we are currently using IIS 8 on our new windows VPS. We have a content management system we install for all our apps we build, but we are finding it incredibly painful as our hosting provider requires that we change the default 404 error page from the default settings everytime we create a site. Is there an easy way within IIS to automatically apply this same default directory within each website so we dont need to edit it on every website we build ? thanks in advance

    When installing php I configure it like so: ./configure --prefix=/wwwroot/php --with-apxs2=/wwwroot/bin/apxs --with-configure-file-path=/wwwroot/php --with-mysql --with-gd And a configure error shows up saying this: xml2-config not found. Please check your libxml2 installation. What's this all about? And how settle the problem?

  • Fan Error on Lenovo R61

    Problem Since the last two days, my Lenovo R61 is giving me a "Fan Error" message during boot, after showing which, it powers down. It does so for 3-4 boot attempts, and after a bit of tapping and such human treatment, in the 6th or so attempt, it luckily starts. Question Why is this happening ? How do I fix it ?     Hi, I'm using Snow Leopard and I've just downloaded Google Chrome for Mac. However it doesn't load any page: This webpage is not available. Error 104 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_FAILED): The attempt to connect to the server failed. I've googled about it but I had no luck, only answers for Windows. Needless to say I have no firewalls and every other browser or application can connect to the internet.

    I have an old Novell server which runs DocsOpen. I know very little about this system, basically we had a disk fault which halted the system. The server was rebooted and came up, I had to manually mount the DATA volume and then reboot again.     Hi, I install apache, mysql, php and then phpmyadmin on ubuntu desktop 10.04 version I test apache: localhost with browser and its works. I test mysql with console and its works. I test phpmyadmin http://localhost/phpmyadmin/ and get error 404 not found I see that solution for that brobem, copy /phpmyadmin/ to /www/, but I dont want to put in /www/ to my websites files (maybe I wrong or miss something-please tell me in this case). How this problem can be solved in the best way? Thanks
